Dao, who joins the Junior Boys Squad for his second year, is one of three players originating from Québec. The Notre-Dame-de l’Île-Perrot native notched a major victory this summer with a win at the 2020 Québec Men’s Amateur Championship.

Q: What are some of your nicknames?

My name is pretty short, people just call me Malik.

Q: How did you get into golf?

My dad is a passionate golfer. He brought me to the range one day and I loved it!

Q: How do you mark your golf ball?

I make a line on my ball to help me line up.

Q: Do you have any siblings, If so, how old?

I have a sister. Her name is Céleste.

Q: What was the last book you read?

Le Passager from Patrick Senécal in a french class.

Q: Who would you play in a movie about your life?

I would be nice if it could be Tom Cruise.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you? Any hidden talents?

I am a pretty good snowboarder.

Q: What exercise do you dread the most?

Pull-ups are the worse!

Q: What was the last picture that you took on your phone?

It was a photo with my friends in a golf tournament.

Q: What is the best thing about your hometown?

It is surrounded by a lake which offers nice views.

Q: Do you have any superstitions?

When I’m playing bad, I change the color of my line on my ball.

Q:What is the most surprising thing in your golf bag?

I have so many training aids.
