Billy Cennon, The Track Golf Course, Hole #11
Good morning!
I booked the tee time last minute and got paired with a wonderful gentlemen and member of the course and his name was Elf.
We teed off on hole #10 so my ace on hole #11 was actually our second hole of the day. Was a challenge to get though the remaining 16 holes afterwards but managed to do okay. The yardage was 166 yards and I hit a 3/4 8 iron which landed four feet behind the hole and spun back in!
Thank you again.
Have a fantastic day!
Billy Cennon
Sean Dolan, Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, Hole #17
Hello,
Thanks for your note.
I was playing with my friends, Cathy Holowitz and Joanne and Fred Gardner, when I stepped to the tee on the par 3, 17th. I clubbed up to a 4 hybrid to carry the front bunker. The ball traveled for 130 yards in air before a soft landing and gentle roll saw it find the cup. So much fun.
Take care,
Sean
Angela Boyle, West Haven Golf & Country Club, Hole #3
Thank you for your email. It was very special day at West Haven Golf & Country Club. I was playing with my husband, Michael Boyle. We usually play together every Sunday. We were also playing with another couple, Trish and Bob Reid, not our usual playing couples.
It was sunny and 21 degrees, a beautiful fall day! The 3rd hole at West Haven was 104 yards to the pin yesterday and I used an 8 iron. The shot had a very nice trajectory, hit the green and rolled a short distance into the hole.
Thank you again.
Angela Boyle
Ann Perry, Falcon Ridge Golf Course, Hole #14
I got my first ever hole-in-one on Monday, October 3, on hole #14 at Falcon Ridge Golf Course.
The pin was at the back at about 105 yards. Normally a 7 iron would be too much, but I tend to put the ball in the water with my 8 iron in the water.
I just did not want to go in the water like I normally do. I had a nice hit with my Callaway Solaire 7 iron. My bright green neon Noodle ball landed on the green and was rolling. I was just so glad not to be in the water. We went to the other side and could not find my ball. I figured I had rolled off the back, so we started looking there. One of the girls landed on the green and she was marking her ball and noticed my ball was in the hole.
I had three witnesses – Karen Swol, Doria Delaney and Barry Elliot.

Barry Sutherland, Fairwinds Golf Course, Hole #6
Hello Golf Canada!
Thank you for your interest and acknowledgment.
The hole-in-one happened on hole #6 at Fairwinds Golf Course, Nanoose Bay, B.C. I was golfing with Sean Moore and Gordon Grant on a warm sunny Wednesday, 12th of October. We were 112 yards out. I was using a Callaway X-18 Pro Series pitching wedge and playing a TaylorMade Soft Select. It was just a pure hit that sailed super high directly over the flag, landed two feet past the hole and the backspin pulled it straight back into the dead center of the cup.
Cheers,
Barry Sutherland
Berry Reumkens, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #11
First ever hole-in-one. I’ve got a three handicap at the moment. A month shy of my 65th birthday. It was 177 yards into a light breeze. 5 iron. Partners were Fred Stevenson, Murray Bowler and Tony Smith. Nice to be a member of the club and to do it with my regular partners.
Thank you for the acknowledgement.
Berry Reumkens
Bob Simpson, Melville Golf and Country Club, Hole #2
On September 30, at the Melville Golf and Country Club in Melville, SK, Bob Simpson (age 69) shot a hole-in-one on the 166-yard, par 3, second hole.

Brett Wellman, Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, Hole #2
I was with my friend’s, Albertus and Brett. I was running late to the course and didn’t get to warm up. Played a safe par on one, and then pulled out a gap wedge from 120 over water on Hawk hole #2 and canned her. It was a dart from contact, and we knew it had a chance, and then disappeared. In the few weeks prior to the hole-in-one, I missed three that were extremely close. It was a special moment to share with friends!
Brian Botterill, Kingsville Golf & Country Club, Hole #12
Thanks, much appreciated.
Details:
– Kingsville Golf and Country Club
– #3 hole on the white nine
– 148 yards
– 8 iron
– Playing with Jeff Hall and Jeff Miesner
Thanks.
Dallas Tecson, Eagles Nest Golf Club, Hole #5
Hello,
Thank you for the email! It was an unreal feeling. Never thought I’d get one…then it just happens.
I was playing with two close friends; one is a pro named Lee Seward and a friend Ryan Drakes. Following a “10” on hole #4 due to some poor play and a few lost balls/dreaded pot bunkers, we pull up to the par 3 hole #5. The yardage was 122 (very windy, a tad uphill, bunker at the front) and I used an 8 iron. Landed just short of the green, couple bounces and hit the pin dead center and dropped. I freaked out, didn’t know what to do but make a funny noise and throw my club in the air. We jumped around on the tee block, drove up and my buddies took a recording of me picking the ball out of the hole.
Funny little bit of commentary. As the ball was in the air, Lee yelled, “go!” thinking it was a tad short. But knowing how well I struck it, I replied with, “Oh it’s the number.” Boom. In the hole. Well, three holes later on the signature hole, I hit another one on line with the pin and again, Lee yelled, “go!” Having hit it well once again, I replied with “Oh it’s the number” as I watched that ball land 15 yards short of the green!
The rest of the round was a write off as I didn’t care, and we were drinking. Had some luck on my side as the restaurant was empty that day because it was cold. I picked up the tab the rest of the day for our group to try and make up for it.

Darrell Avery, Glen Arbour Golf Course, Hole #2
Hi,
Well, finally got one! It was the afternoon of Tuesday, October 18th at Glen Arbour Golf Course, N.S. on hole #2. It was 142 yards, and I used a 9 Iron. The ball landed about five feet in front, slightly left of the pin. It just rolled over and in the hole. I shouted, “It’s in! It went in! I can’t believe it!” My playing partner, best friend and neighbour of 16 years, Armel Roy, let out a huge shout that could be heard all over the course.
We picked up another player on the first tee, Jason Saulnier, who we hadn’t played with or met before. He said, “That’s the first hole-in-one I’ve ever seen.” I replied, “That makes two of us.”
After several rounds of high fives and a few more shouts I made my way over to the hole and plucked that ball from the cup.
Armel took my picture and texted it to several friends. The word was out. I’ve had lots of congratulations come my way since then. Feels pretty Good!
The quest for another is on!

David Campbell, Fairwinds Golf Course, Hole #10
My wife and I were playing with our good friends, Dave and Marlene Cox, who also live at Fairwinds. We have been members and lived in Fairwinds for 17 years.
It was on hole #10 and it was a blue pin (144 yards from the tee box). I used a 7 iron. We did not see it go in as the hole was hidden and we could only see the flagpole.
In my email telling a few friends about it, I said, “well It only took 78 years, 5 months and 18 days to do it!”
Best regards,
David Campbell
Dyann Goodfellow, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, Hole #13
Thank you. It was a fun moment. The hole was 135 yards, and I used a 6 hybrid. I was playing with two girlfriends, Diane Richards and Laurie Lawrenuk. The ball hit the green on the left side, rolled up the left side and then caught the slope toward the hole.
Regards,
Dyann Goodfellow
Erica Page, Southamption Golf & Country Club, Hole #13
Thanks for the graphic. I will definitely use it.
I was playing the round yesterday with my husband, Chris. Both of our tee blocks were the same distance for the 13th hole. Chris went first and his ball was short and right of the green. I used my trusty 5 wood which is my 150-yard club. The pin was in the middle of the green. According to my GPS, the distance to the hole was 147 yards. After I hit the ball, I did not see it finish due to the sun being in my eyes. It felt like I hit it well and assumed it was on the green. As we approached the green, I started looking around for my ball while my husband was chipping onto the green. Since I could not see my ball on the green, I assumed it had rolled off the back, so I took a club to chip on as well as my putter. I could not find my ball on the fringe or on the green, so I went up and looked in the hole and low and behold there it was! In the hole! I was very excited. I dropped the clubs I was carrying and said, “it’s in the hole, it’s in the hole—come look at it please it’s really in the hole!” Chris thought I was joking so he was hesitant to come up to the green and see it.
I played forty rounds of golf this year and this round was to be our last in Southampton as the season is coming to a close. What an amazing way to finish an amazing year I am not the best golfer, or the most consistent, but I truly love to play golf and make sure I play as often as I possibly can. Getting a hole-in-one was like a dream come true for me. I honestly never thought it would happen.
This is our first year using the Golf Canada app and we have enjoyed using it to track our progress. I believe it has had a positive impact on my score and allows me to set goals.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my story.
Take care.
Erica
George Stenning, Club at North Halton, Hole #4
Hi,
Thank you very much for the email. I really appreciate the response. As I’m sure you can imagine, I’m happy to tell my story.
So, the day of my hole-in-one was a Friday, and I play on Fridays with what we call the Friday Group…a large group of men where on a given Friday, we can win skins and we do a blind draw for partners for the top few low net teams. At the end of the season the top four winners from the season play off for the top prize. On this Friday, I was advised on the tee box that I was very marginally out of the top four and would need to have a good day to move up to get into the playoff.
I was playing with three others from our Friday group: Reg Finlayson (who’s been at North Halton for many years, a very accomplished player and a real gentleman), Sebastien Myre (who makes every round extremely fun and not only had a hole-in-one this year himself, but had also already played with several others this year when they got holes-in-one) and Greg Frazer (a nice, very relaxed guy to play with). The perfect group for a fun day and some good golf.
So, on the fourth hole I turned to the Sebastien and Reg and suggested I really needed to do something special today to get into the top four and given so many others had found luck playing with Sebastien this year I was hoping for some of that luck myself. Sebastien responds enthusiastically as always, “okay George, let’s do it!” We ask Reg how many holes-in-one he has and he said 12. So, I repeated I was with the right group to do something special today! Sebastien advises that you always want to make sure you get it there, so I pull out a 9 iron thinking I’ll take a bit more club and hit a bit of a knockdown 9. Reg tees off first on this 137-yard par 3, hits a good shot but it runs just off the back. He suggests that wind is clearly helping. So, my 9 goes back in the bag and I take out my pitching wedge instead. I hit my shot right on the line I was hoping and needed it to just clear the bunker and release down to the right to the hole. We see it just clear the bunker and disappear to the right. Reg responds, “that ball has a chance!” Sebastien hits a similar shot. Greg, I believe, misses just a little short. When we arrive at the green there’s only one ball on the green. Reg says he thinks mine is in the hole. I refused to look in the hole, instead looking to see if perhaps it’s run off the green to the right. Sebastien finally walks up, identifies his ball on the green, and then casually says my ball is in the hole. I replied I wasn’t so sure about that. Sebastian replies, “George! You’re playing a Srixon with a red dot today. here’s a Srixon with a red dot in the hole! Your ball is in the hole!” The celebration ensues!
Unfortunately, I was advised after the round that while I got a skin with my hole-in-one, in the blind partner draw I drew a partner that helped us come in second low net on the day and the person I needed to catch drew a partner that got him into first for the day, resulting in me losing getting into the final foursome by thirteen cents; but I got my first hole-in-one! A super fun day with lots of fun drama and I got to do what I always say I play for; the ability to hit the shot when you really need to hit the shot!
Thank you very much again!
George Stenning
Halia Avdimiretz, The Club at North Halton, Hole #13
Wow! There I am, with a 37 handicap and a hole-in-one on hole #13 at North Halton!
120 yards to the pin. There I am at the red tee with my “Nancy” 7 hybrid wood club, and I have a yellow jacket bee bugging me! I am running around frantically trying to ditch this bee! My fellow golfer manages to distract the bee.
I try to calm down and take my swing. The ball tracks just to the left of the pin, rolls then curls over to the pin. Wasn’t 100% sure if it made the hole or not.
The four players on the 12th fairway actually saw my ball go in the hole! They motored over in their power carts, yelling and cheering, grabbed me and we were all yelling with excitement.
Best time I have ever had on the golf course! A shame that my husband wasn’t playing with me that day.
I have been walking around on cloud 9, like a celebrity ever since!
Goes to show, it doesn’t matter what your handicap is!
A special thank you to Nancy Lopez and my wonderful “Nancy” Club!

Jeff Carlos, Woodside Golf Course, Hole #7
Hi!
Thank you for emailing me! What a surprise! This is awesome as the Woodside Golf Course didn’t have any memorabilia for a hole-in-one.
First of all, it was freezing that day! It was seven or eight degrees and raining on and off in the morning. The hole was playing 115 yards but with how cold it was, I played it 120 yards and I was using my pitching wedge (Taylormade p790). Tee’d it up and hit the most perfect shot, it was going right at the hole, but I didn’t think anything of it. All of a sudden it took one bounce and hopped right in the hole!
I was playing with Jay-Ar Arcilla, Mark Quintin and Marvin Quintin.
Thank you,
Jeff Carlos
Joe Offutt, Olympic View Golf Club, Hole #11
Good evening Golf Canada,
I was playing with my friend, Chris Thomas. Hole #11 at Olympic View Golf Club is an uphill par 3 that was playing 157 yards. I used a 7 iron.
Cheers,

Luis Bridgeman, Deerhurst Golf Course, Hole #8
Hi,
Thanks for reaching out!
My friends and I were out in Huntsville earlier this year to enjoy a summer weekend. In my group, I was playing with my friends Savi, Kevin and Alan on the Highlands par 72 course. I was playing from the white tees. I got my hole-in-one on the 8th hole which was playing around 131 yards. The tees are slightly elevated, and you hit down into the green, so I factored this in and chose to hit my pitching wedge. The golf ball that I was using was a Titleist Pro V1x. I hit a slight draw on the shot and the ball landed about two or three feet left of the pin but had some nice right sidespin which spun it right into the hole! It was quite fascinating watching the ball spin about two or three feet back to the right and into the hole which made the moment that much more exciting.
Thank you for providing me with a nice infographic to commemorate this exciting achievement!
Kind regards,
Luis Bridgeman
Madge Flint, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #15
Hello,
A hole-in-one is something I have thought about and hoped for as a member of Fairview Mountain for 26 years. The day finally came on October 21st on hole #15. I was playing with my pals Sharon Bleackley, Claudia Bell and Susan Capyk. The pin was 80 yards. I pondered my TaylorMade pitching wedge or my A wedge and chose the A wedge.
The ball hit the front edge of the green and rolled in with the help of my friends cheering “go in, go in” and it did. We all cheered and dance the green. An exciting and wonderful experience to have shared with friend.

Marian Thomson, Pender Island Golf & Country Club, Hole #4
Hi,
Thank you for your congratulations and opportunity to share my unique moment.
The hole-in-one took place on October 18, 2022, on hole #4 at the Pender Island golf course. The distance is 113 yards, and the shot was witnessed by Caroline Davidson. It happened during a very relaxed game on one of our last incredibly beautiful golf days this Fall. Temperatures and conditions were prime with Caroline and I enjoying the immaculate course.
I used my driver for the shot, aiming at a high point outside of the green hoping the ball would run to the green. Indeed, it did! At first, I thought I had lost my ball as Caroline nor I could locate it. As a last measure Caroline jokingly said, “’well better check the hole.” To our astonishment there it was! A hole-in-one. Hard to believe. A very great surreal moment!
All the best,
Marian Thomson
Marsha Mallow, Cedar Hill Golf Club, Hole #15
Hello,
Thank you for contacting me.
Yes, I did get a hole-in-one at the Cedar Hill Golf Course in Victoria, British Columbia on Thursday, October 20. It was at the par 3 hole #15 and it was 107 yards from tee to flag. The club of choice was my putter! Yes, my putter!
Hole #15 has an elevated tee box with a gravel cart path crossing in front. I have to actually tee up because I need to get a little airborne to miss the cart path. If the ball hits the cart path it loses some momentum and cannot make the green.
My playing partners were Ruth Ferne and Diane Girard.
I do have a bit of a story because in 2018 I got two hole-in-ones at this same course. After that, my thinking was that things happen in threes, so I made it my goal to get a third hole-in-one with my putter off the tee on hole #15. The yardage can vary from approximately 95 yards to 120 yards. Well, I’ve been trying to get one for more than four years. It did take perseverance. There was many a time that I wanted to use a different club, but I made myself stick to using the putter.
I must admit I was pretty excited when the ball finally fell in the hole.
I accomplished my goal. Now the question is – will I continue to tee off with my putter on that hole?
Yes, this will be a story to tell for the rest of my life.
Thank you for the graphic.
Best regards,
Marsha Mallow
Natalie Hay, Michelson National Golf Club, Hole #17
Thanks! I was playing with my husband, Malcolm, and our friends, Michael and Zack. It was likely going to be the last round of the season and I was disappointed that I hadn’t been playing well. When we walked up to the 17th tee boxes, we all said the flag was in the “hole in one” position as it was in a funnel in the middle of the green.
From my tee box I already knew my 52-degree wedge would be too short and my pitching wedge too long, so I figured I’d go long and hope the ball didn’t roll off the green. Luckily, I hit it well and soft enough that it landed just behind the mound to the left of the hole, the ball rolled down the funnel and straight to the pin. Even though I saw it happen, I wanted to actually look in the hole as balls always roll down that funnel and right off the green into the bunker. Not this time though! What a way to end the season and we had a great time in the clubhouse with all the members after that!

Pixie Helm, Westmount Golf & Country Club, Hole #3
Hi,
Thank you very much for acknowledging my hole-in-one. I was playing at Westmount Golf and Country Club in Kitchener, ON on October 5th. I have been a member there for 28 years. The hole-in-one was on the 3rd hole; it is a par 3. I was playing with two friends, Margaret and Sheila. I hit the ball 166 yards. I used to Callaway 2 ball and my club was a Maverick driver. I am 76 years young, and this is my second hole-in-one. My other one was in October 2010. I didn’t think I’d see another one in my lifetime. I was elated.
Thank you for interest.

Rick Nelmes, Cowichan Golf & Country Club, Hole #13
Hole #13 is 125 yards to the back pin position. Hit an 8 iron in and seen the first bounce on the green but because of the slope couldn’t see it from there. My playing partners said they thought it hit the pin. Other club members coming off an adjacent green started to yell at us that the ball had actually hit the pin and gone in. My playing partners were Jim Charlton, Mark Clathora and Steve Dallaway.
Thanks to Golf Canada for their ongoing support in the membership.

Rupy Choi, Bearbrook Golf Club, Hole #6
Dear Golf Canada,
October 25, 2022, is a commemoratory day for me.
Not only did I get my first hole-in-one, but it was the same day my father passed away five years ago.
I was playing with my friend, Jeff Leggat, at Bearbrook Golf Club in Navan, ON. Our tee time was at 10:30 a.m. It was a warm day in Ottawa, and it was the final day of golf for us this season.
I stepped up to the tee box at the 6th hole, playing at 128 yards, pin placements back left of the green, pulled up my 9 iron and hit a great shot. We thought it bounced off the green and walked up to a surprise of my golfing life!
There was my ball in the hole! Awesome feeling divine intervention.
Thanks,
Rupy

Patrick Skuce, The Pulpit Club, Hole #7
Hi,
Thanks for the email.
It came as a bit of a shock, especially considering how poorly I was playing on Sunday!
Both of my sons have been lucky to get a hole-in-one at the Pulpit and Paintbrush respectively, so the pressure
I was playing with my son, Charlie Skuce, Ben Cabrajic and his guest, Chris Vajdic. We teed up from the blue tees and the pin was at the front of the green 109 yrds away. The wind was in our face. I went first with my pitching wedge.I have been using a single plane swing this year and must have been channeling Moe Norman! I hit it straight at the pin. It landed about three inches in front of the hole and rolled straight in. The guys went nuts behind me. I could not believe I had finally done it. I have a video and a pic of me retrieving the ball (Titleist Pro V1).
Cheers and thanks again,
Patrick Skuce
Sukhraj Gill, Mayfair Lakes Golf, Hole #15
Hey,
This was my first ever hole-in-one.
The yardage was 172, although it was playing 189. 6 iron was the club (Taylormade- P770) and ball was Taylormade Tp5X.
I was Playing with my buddy Hector Aguilar, he took the video. We were in a match play even with www.worldameteurrace.com.

Brad Bushey, Belleview Golf Club, Hole #11
My hole-in-one was at Belleview Golf South in Woodslee, Ontario. It was on hole #11. Yardage was 191 and I used a M2 TaylorMade 5 wood. My good friends, Merrick McCall and Bruce Cascadden, were my witnesses that day. I did not see it go in the hole. I thought it was long of the green. Merrick watched it all the way and witnessed it go in the hole. I didn’t believe him at first; you know how friends are they like to kid around, so until I saw it in the hole, I didn’t believe him. Then we had a few drinks to celebrate.

Cory Gilmore, Scarboro Golf & Country Club, Hole #2
Hi there. Thanks for your note. I am still quite excited about my Sunday hole-in-one! It was on hole #2 at Scarboro. I was playing the red tees. It was about a 140-yard shot to a back blue pin. I used my 7 wood which landed on the green and left of the pin. The ball started rolling right (as it always does on that hole given the slope) right into the hole! Since it was a late season shotgun, many members heard us hollering and celebrated with us after.
I was with my daughter, Laura Gilmore, and our friend, Lori Barrett. What a great day! So special to share it with my daughter. She and I have had so much fun golfing as mother and daughter here and all over Canada.
Cory Gilmore
Dave Holowaty, Doon Valley Golf Course, Hole 2
Thanks. I was playing with my usual Sunday group: my brother, Paul, and my friends, Frank Dingethal and Paula Renon. The hole was playing to 132 yards, and I used a 9 iron. It hit the green about 15 feet from the pin and trickled in perfectly. It was my fourth career hole-in-one but the first at Doon; the other three were at Rockway golf course.
David Josephson, Victoria Golf Club, Hole #14
Hi,
Thank you for your email. My hole-in-one on Thanksgiving Monday was pretty cool! Funny enough my sister gave birth to her first child on the same day. I spoke to my mom, who loves golf, and she said, “I don’t know what’s more exciting the baby or your hole-in-one!” She was joking of course.
I was playing with my friends, Steven and Michael. Michael was going to pull out at hole #10 but stuck it out with us a few more since it was so beautiful out. Hole #14 has an elevated tee box, and the pin was placed center left of the green and it was marked as 186 yards. There was a bit of cross wind, and I played a 5 iron which turned out to be the right club. We all knew it was a really nice shot but lost it as it landed on the green due to shadows. When I walked up to the green, I couldn’t see the ball so I thought it may have skipped off the back or into the bunker that surrounds the left side of the hole. Being there was no ball in sight I walked up to the hole and found my ball sitting in the cup. ? There was a divot six feet from the pin, so I think it landed and one hopped in. What an amazing feeling that was walking up and seeing my ball in the hole and to drain it on hole #14 which is not an easy hole makes the story and accomplishment that much better.
Thanks again for reaching out.
Regards,
David Josephson
Donna Martens, Woodside Golf Course, Hole #12
Hi,
Woodside is our home course of which we are members. I am 68 years old and was playing from the silver tees. I used a pitching wedge to an elevated green that was 73 yards and was happy to see it going straight to the hole. It dropped and rolled in much to my amazement! I was playing with my husband, Tony, and two other men that we were paired with. It was one of the other men who yelled that it was in! It was definitely my golf highlight!
Thank you.
Donna
Jake Arsenault, Eagles Glenn Golf Course, Hole #4
Hey there,
Thanks!
I was playing with Greg Ellis, Ashley Praught and Jeff Carragher. It was a front pin with a distance of 145 yards along with a strong head wind. Hit a 9 iron.
Cheers,
Jake
Jay Laird, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, Hole #4
It was one lucky shot with my pitching wedge. The hole was #4 on the North Course at TPC at Osprey Valley. The yardage was 86! Still in disbelief!
Ken Marks, Black Bear Ridge, Hole #13
36 members of the Bogey Club Group that have two team tournaments a year and have been playing since 1954 were at Black Bear Ridge in Belleville.
Organizer of the tournament and a member at Midland Golf Club, Ken Marks, hit an 8 iron from 137 yards on a damp and windy day to log his first ever hole-in-one on hole #13. The group almost had a second ace on hole #15 when one of his playing partners, Terry Dolson, left it on the edge of the hole.
Kim Scoles, Pitt Meadows Golf Club, Hole #16
Hi,
Thanks for the recognition. Yes, it was an exciting moment.
The hole was playing 150 yards. I used my 7 iron. The ball hit just in front of the pin and hopped in. My playing partners (Rob Ross, Steve Russell and Stan Reid) and myself weren’t sure if it had gone in but, not seeing the ball anywhere on the green, we knew it went in. This was my third hole-in-one. My last one was about 30 years ago. Thank goodness our club has hole-in-one insurance as this happened during our regular Wednesday men’s day.
Cheers.
Michael Spear, Riverbend Golf Community, Hole #5
Hi,
This was my first hole-in-one ever at age 69, so an item on my bucket list is now accomplished!
The distance from the white tees was 123 yards that day in May. My teammates were Bob Israel and Bob Perry. They took my picture and witnessed the event with much glee. I used a 7 iron and aimed directly at the flag. The ball landed just left and trickled in!
With best regards,
Mike
Paul Attard, Trafalgar Golf & Country Club, Hole #17
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.
This round of golf was special in that our foursome consisting of my brother, David Attard, and friends, Trevor Wall and Mike Tomkin, was playing one of our final rounds at Trafalgar, as the course is closing its doors forever on October 30th.
The ace came on the 17th hole in which I was third to play. Mike and I were two down in the match and Trevor hit a good shot 10 feet short of the pin. My brother hit a self-proclaimed beauty that scared the pin and landed about eight feet past the pin. I was next to play. The hole was playing 165 yards and I hit a 5 iron. It landed a couple feet short and went in the hole. It was a little surreal! But we did go on to lose the mach.
I have played the game for 40 years, and until 11 days prior, I never had a hole-in-one. 11 days prior, I aced the 17th hole at Cranberry Golf Course in a four-man scramble.
So very surreal. Who knows, this may be the last ever ace at Trafalgar Golf Club? So, the foursome of my brother David, Trevor & Mike used this to celebrate!
What a day!
Thanks for letting me share my story!
Paul Attard

Hello,
Thank you for your email. I was surprised to say the least. I played with Dr. Sandy Lowden and Mr. Ian Hey. I used a 4-hybrid club, and the pin was at the front/middle right of the green. The yardage was probably about 130, so it was as easy as it could get.
Thank you very much!
Philip Griffith
Scott Redpath, Aberdeen Glen Golf Club, Hole #8
It was 146 yards to the pin, 140 to the front bunker and for me this was a 7 iron. The ball landed at 145 yards and just left but with my natural fade it spun slightly right and forward. This was my first season back playing in 25 years and the final round before the course closes for the long winter.
Steve Anderson, The Nairn Golf Club, Hole #11
Thanks for reaching out. I’d be happy to share the story.
I was on a golf trip with seven others, mostly others from my home club at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club. Narin was our last game of aseven7 game tour of Scotland. As you can see in the photo, it was a rainy day. Our only really rainy of the tour fortunately. The 11th at Nairn was playing 150 yards and I used a 9 iron. The hole was behind a bunker, so we didn’t see it go in. Our group had a fore caddie. When we reached the green, he and I assumed I had gone long into some tall grass and began looking for my ball there. After a couple of minutes, the fore caddie checked the hole. When I looked back at him, he was staring at me with a smile. He said in all his years as a caddie, he’d never had a client make a hole-in-one before. I think he was more excited than me. My playing partners that day were Steve Easton, Craig Gronsdahl and Keith Recsky. The flag was a gift from the Nairn Golf Club as a memento of the occasion.
Just as an aside, that was the third hole-in-one I had in the previous six months. I had one in Indian Ridge in Palm Desert in December and then another in February at Tatum Ranch in Cave Creek, Arizona. The Nairn ace was my sixth in total.
Regards.
Wendy Fretz, West Haven Golf & Country Club, Hole #3
Greetings to you,
You are absolutely correct that this is a story to share for the rest of my life. It would have been awesome to have some drone footage from above, but the picture will be fixed in my mind forever.
The irony of it is that I can’t really say that I was aiming at the pin (the back of green up a slope on a 100-yard hole but away from the large bunker on the left/front side of the green). It has caught my ball an inordinate number of times this past season!
I used my usual club on the hole (unless a very front pin placement), an 8 iron. I was playing with my friend, Harla. The weather was so miserable, cool and windy with rain predicted that we went out to the course last minute with the thought process that we might get a few holes in but were not optimistic. That’s why we weren’t armed with our usual equipment like a phone or even snacks. The course was very quiet, so we actually were able to make good time. Oh, and by the way I was using an old found ball from who knows when because in the fall I don’t play with any of my treasured balls. All I can say is it helped to keep my expectations low. I can’t say that I won’t be expecting a miracle again whenever I step up to that tee box in the future. As a matter of fact, the next time I played that hole, you guessed it, I went into that left/front bunker!
Thank you for the graphic.
Wendy Fretz

John Lind, Pine Needles, Hole #13
Hi,
Thank you for your email! It was a fantastic moment.
I was on a “boys” trip with my dad, cousin and friend for the week. This was the first round of the trip. It was a front pin and played 167 yards. Ball landed just right of the hole and took a kick and rolled about five feet in the hole!
Thank you,
John
Anisur Salim, Dentonia Park Golf Course, Hole #1
I recorded my seventh hole-in-one on October 6th at Dentonia Park Golf Course. Occurred on the 102-yard first hole. I used my 56-degree wedge.
Thanks,
Anisur
Brian Morice, The Golf Club at Lora Bay, Hole #7
Playing with Kim MacDonald, Diane Finkle and Laurie Blair. I used a 5 iron on this hole which was playing 157 yards that day.
Brian Morice
Darryl Palmer, The Falls Golf Club, Hole #10
Thank you. I was playing with Ken Scott, Daryl Quigg and Dennis Dejong. The yardage that day was roughly 114. The club I used was my 50-degree wedge. It was also a beautiful day to be golfing!
Donald Cohn, Fairwinds Golf Course, Hole #10
The score was witnessed by Bruce Wylie from Fairwinds Golf Course in Nanoose Bay, B.C. I used a soft 6 iron from the Spirit (white) tees at 106 yards.
Gail Stirling, Glendale Golf Club, Hole #4
Hello,
Details below:
– Hole #4
– 5 hybrid
– 132 yards
– Playing with Lori Gabriele and Jill Weldon
Thank you.
Gail Stirling
George Keen, Copper Point Golf Club, Hole #15
It was 140 yards. I used a 9 iron. I was with Dave Braund and Kent Gunter. It was my fifth hole-in-one, so not as exciting as my first.
Glen Barnden, Irish Hills, Hole #2
Thanks so much, much appreciated!
Red #2 at Irish Hills is a 190 elevated green par 3. In the past, I’ve had some difficulty with this hole and tend to hit my ball predominantly to the right side of the green. It’s a safe landing spot and I have managed to chip and putt for pars or bogeys from there.
I had been out with our Director of Golf, Ryan Hale, the day before and discussions were had about getting an ace.
So, on this occasion I thought I’d try for the green and use my driver with a slight adjustment to shoot left. I struck the ball well and watched it land just on the front fringe of the green and then start to roll. The green slopes towards the back so from where I was standing at the tees it rolled out of sight.
The backstory here is that my wife and I had been golfing with Jan Sola on the front nine when our motorized cart broke down. He was walking so we had told him to continue ahead of us while we got a new cart. We caught up to him on the Red Course when we were teeing off on hole #2 and he was about to tee off on Red hole #3 which is right adjacent to hole #2. He waved and waited for us to finish the hole. From his vantage point he could see what was happening on our green.
When I got to the green, I couldn’t find my ball. I figured it must have rolled off and was buried in the fringe somewhere, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Jan meantime, walks over on our green and while standing by the pin says, “why don’t you look in here?” Cool as a cucumber, he had seen my ball land on the fringe of the green and start rolling towards the pin. He said he thought it looked like it was going to be a good shot. He watched it roll and then it disappeared. He knew I had a hole-in-one but didn’t say a thing until I had gone through all my ranting about losing my ball after such a good hit. We laughed about that!
Needless to say, my game fell apart for the next several holes as all concentration was lost. The hole-in-one was witnessed by Jan, the groundskeeper, Brian, and my wife Mary.
Can’t wait to do it again on a hole where I can see it all unfold for myself!
Cheers,
Glen Barnden
P.S. It was great that Ryan was working that same day and the head groundskeeper Peter came out to congratulate me! Certainly makes one feel special!
Graham Bartsch, The Dunes, Hole #6
Good day,
Just reporting that after 30 plus years of playing, and over 1,200 rounds, I recorded my first ever hole-in-one on Sunday, October 11, 2022!
It happened on hole #6 at The Dunes in Kamloops, B.C.
Playing conditions were windy, so I swung an easy pitching wedge from 127 yards to a front pin location. After I struck the ball, I thought “great line, but I think it will be a bit long” and bent down to pick up my tee. Just then, my playing partner yelled “get in the hole” and I looked to the pin just in time to see white turn to green! The ball traveled slightly past the pin and screwed back into the cup for my first ever!
Needless to say, it was pretty exciting!
Have a great day.
Graham Bartsch
Henry Mah, Victoria Golf Club, Hole #8
Hi,
Thanks for the note. Yes, it was exciting getting my first hole-in-one after 30 years of playing golf. I was playing with another Victoria Golf Club member, Henry S. The hole-in-one was on the 8th hole playing 106 yards and I used a pitching wedge.
Regards,
Henry Mah
Jim Zhu, Mayfair Lakes Golf Course, Hole #8
Hello!
I was playing in a tournament that I won with Michael Li, Vincent Guo and Oscar Yu. It was on hole #8 in Mayfair Lakes located in Richmond, B.C. from 150 yards. I hit a 9 iron and it turned out to be my first hole-in-one. The hole-in-one on the second day got me to -7 and also gave me a six-shot lead!
Thank you,
Jim Zhu
John Raeburn, Wildwinds Golf Links, Hole #9
Thank you for this.
It was my first hole-in-one, and thankfully it wasn’t a flukes shot. I was playing with Terry Blakely and Stephen Casey.
It was 180 yards with a 5 wood on hole 9. It was a beautiful high fade, and just tracked straight to the hole. As a side note – on the front nine, I “hit for the cycle”: eagle, birdie, par, bogey and double bogey, to end up with a 1 over 36 on the front, and overall, six over 76 – my best round or the year!
John
Kelly Dearborn, The Golf House Club – Elie, Hole #7
I was playing with Tom Volk, Dave Neville and James Holder (all Golf Canada members). We were on a Scotland golf trip that was three years in the making…twice delayed due to the pandemic. Eleven rounds in total. Played the Old Course today!
It was the par 4 7th hole called Peggy, 241 yards from our tees. It was a very windy day in Elie, Scotland. I hit a driver, low, over the mount in the fairway. The others hit similar shots. When we got over the mount, we saw three balls just short of the green. We checked the bunkers to the right of the green and didn’t see anything. Then we thought to look in the hole and there it was, my ball. First hole-in-one and it was an albatross.
Cheers.
Kelly
Mike Mason, Speargrass Golf Course, Hole #14
Thanks!
I think the yardage was about 154, playing 144 downhill. I used an A wedge. I was playing with my friend, Scott Carr.
Nancy Forbes, The Glencoe Golf & Country Club, Hole #5
After struggling at the early part of the 2022 season, I took some lessons from Glencoe’s Judy Forshner and Canadian tour pro, Wes Heffernan. With just a few swing thoughts, they got me back on track. I was playing the Forest course at the Glencoe Golf and Country Club with my best friend, Lynn Grafton, on Thursday, October 6, the day before my birthday! Hole #5 has an elevated tee box, with water on the right and sand all along the left of the green. It was windy and a blue flag, so I took a couple of wedges up to the tee box. The flag was 116 yards. I decided to hit my gap wedge, because it is an accurate club for me. The shot was on line to the pin. It hit the green, bounced once or twice and rolled in. It was my fourth hole-in-one but the best one because I was playing with my bestie, on the day before my birthday and just before Thanksgiving. Doesn’t get any better than that as they say. I just wish I had worn a nicer outfit!

Hey,
The ace happened at RedTail, on the 198-yard hole #17. I used a 6 iron.
Mike Agouros
Al Sampson, Sleepy Hollow Golf & Country Club, Hole #17
Further to your request, I was playing in senior tournament with: Mike Fitzpatrick, Peter Lao and Daniel Deng. On hole #17, 187 par 3, I used a fairway 5 wood. I saw my ball drop from the tee blocks, but there were some doubts that it dropped. Mr. Deng rushed to the green screening, “it’s in, it’s in.”
Brendan Koch, Lynx Ridge Golf Club, Hole #12
Hi there,
I was playing with a few friends from work at Lynx Ridge. The 12th hole was a front left pin position that day. I hit a 6-iron from around 200 yards to the pin. Landed about 4 feet before the pin and just released into the hole. Very exciting. Shoutout to Matt, who I was playing with, for an eagle (2) on the ninth hole from 145 yards out. Big day on the course.
Thanks,
Brendan
Carole Withers, Radium Course, Hole #12
Good morning,
Thank you for your email in regard to my hole-in-one. It happened on September 24th on the Radium Course. I was golfing with my husband, Wayne, and my daughter, Stacey. It was hole #12; it was a 141-yard par 3 with an elevated tee box. The club I used was an 8 iron. Unfortunately, I personally didn’t see it actually go in the hole but my daughter did so that was fun.
Thanks,
Carole
Carolyn Rutter, Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course, Hole #13
Hi,
My hole-in-one was on hole 13 at Tsawwassen Springs. I was playing in my Tuesday Ladies League with Alison, Margaret and Laureen. It was 106 yards, and I used my 7 iron. I watched the ball hit the green curl toward the hole and fall in. Very exciting! It was an expensive day though as there were about 40 ladies to buy drinks for after the round…well worth it though!
Cheers,
Carolyn Rutter
Chris Ritchie, Eagle Crest Golf Couse, Hole #16
Hello,
I shot a hole-in-one on September 18, 2022, during the Acadia University golf team tryouts at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Centreville, N.S. Shot a pitching wedge on the 117-yard hole #16, with a Taylormade TP5 “bacon and eggs” logo ball. Playing partners were Tai Robichaud and Connor Stites.

Doug Skinner, Loch March Golf & Country Club, Hole #16
I organized a small Fall tournament to enjoy the changing of the leaves consisting of 16 players. That hole was the closest to the pin contest where everyone threw in $5 each to compete. So bottom line, I won $80 but the bar tab was $125. I was playing with Chris Day, John Black and Jamie York. The hole was 138 yards. Used a 9 iron.
Fred Ollewagen, Deer Creek Golf Club, Hole #18
Hi,
It was on the last hole of the Ruby 9 at Deer Creek North. It was 171 yards and I hit 8 iron and it bounced once and disappeared.
As chance may have it, I made another hole-in-one yesterday only a couple of hours after responding to your email. That makes it two in three days after struggling for 25 years! This one was a pitching wedge from 148 yards on the 4th, Ruby at Deer Creek North in Ajax and it went straight into the hole, not even a dent on the cup!
Kind regards,
Ferdinand Ollewagen
George Land, Tumbler Ridge Golf & Country Club, Hole #6
I was golfing with Terry and Ray. 144 yards to the middle pin and used an 8 iron.
Thanks,
George
Grant Armstrong, Royal Liverpool Golf Course, Hole #11
Good morning and thank you for your email.
It really was a thrill for me! I’ve been playing for 50 years and that was my first hole-in-one. My playing partners were Ray Leonard (also a Golf Canada member) and Graham Child (a resident of England). I hit the smoothest 4 iron of my life! The hole was 171 yards.
Many thanks.
Grant
Greg Peebles, Magna Golf Club, Hole #17
Thanks for the congratulations from Golf Canada. This was my second hole-in-one, the first being on the 8th hole at Bayview Golf and Country Club. I used a 9 iron for a 146-yard shot directly into the wind. The best part was seeing the ball fly over the water, hit the front of the green and roll into the hole. What an experience. Made it even more fun because I shared it with my friends from Bayview that were playing in my foursome – Michel Paradis, Nick D’Agostino and Mark Paterson. What a day.
Heather Swallow, Dinosaur Trail Golf & Country Club, Hole #5
Hello,
Thank you for the note and recognition of my hole-in-one. They are indeed exciting, and I am lucky enough to have now experienced this excitement four times.
The yardage for my hole-in-one was 107 and I used a 9 iron.
Thank you,
Heather Swallow
Hugh McEwen, Glacier Greens Golf Club, Hole #12
Hole-in-one was on #12 at the Glacier Greens course in Comox, B.C. The hole was playing 109 yards and I used a 9 iron. I was playing with two of my buddies, Dave and Rick. It was my second hole-in-one on that hole and third total. ?
Hugh McEwen
John Leask, Michelson National Golf Club, Hole #15
Thanks for the email. It was a great day for sure at Mickelson National! The hole was #15. The yardage was 169. I took the shot with a 7 iron.
Thank you!

Jordan Tinney, Gallangher’s Canyon, Hole #2
Hello,
Thank you. To your questions:
We have just completed renovations to our home and wanted to thank the husband-and-wife team who partnered with us on the renovation for the past six months. They golf so we wanted to take them out. It was a late afternoon tee time and a gorgeous day.
I had the yardage as 135 and its slightly downhill. I took out a nine iron. Since it was late afternoon, it was one of those shots where the sun was in your eyes. I hit it and it felt solid but with the sun, I couldn’t see it in flight. I put my hand up to block the sun and just looked at the pin waiting for it to land (hopefully) somewhere on the green. You can see the green well, it landed right in front of the pin, and seemed to take a small roll and just disappear. We all thought that it went in and as we then walked to the green, there it was, in the hole. Wild. I’ve never had one.
In true golf fashion, I did the following things. I fixed my ball mark, took a picture because it was amazing. Then, I was reminded about the golf gods who got even with me as I went on to double the next hole.
The ball now sits on my shelf, as who knows if it will ever happen again. Oh, what’s luckier than getting a hole-in-one? Doing it on a day when the course bar was closed (as they were punching the fairways on the main course).
Take care,
Jordan
Joseph Han, Deerfield Golf Club, Hole #11
Hi Golf Canada,
On September 17, I got a hole-in-one at Deerfield Golf Club which is located in Oakville, ON. Occurred on hole 11 with a 7 iron.

Mike Elwood, Islington Golf Club, Hole #6
Thank you for the email regarding my hole-in-one on number 6 at Islington Golf Course.
The group is the usual gang on Wednesdays, who I refer to as the Super Seniors. Let me clarify, I am not one of them, I am the young one.
The group in the picture attached is me, Bob Guthrie, Larry Citrullo and Goerge Mitchell who was filling in for the absent Bruce Kenney.
Hole #6 was playing 108 yards from the blue tees which is the Super Seniors tee of choice on Wednesdays. I hit last as we play ready golf, and I grabbed my pitching wedge, the pin was white which is middle, but it was behind a mound so you couldn’t see the ground. I fired a little draw to the right side of the green and it actually hit the fringe and did the left turn. That was all I saw from the tee, but I knew it was good. When I got up to the green, I passed George’s shot, he was right, off the putting surface. Larry had already arrived at the back of the green as he was long and in a cart that day. Bob was lumbering up to the bunker short of the green.
As I climbed the little rise to the green and noted all of the above, I did not see my ball, and the pin was about 10 paces off the right, so I proceeded to the hole with my clubs still on my back, I looked down and there it was lying comfortably in the bottom of the cup. I bent over and quietly picked it out of the hole. Larry was the first to notice and acknowledge that it was an ace. I was thrilled but didn’t celebrate in a manner one might expect. Bob was shocked that I didn’t hoot and holler but it’s not my style and even though that was my third ace on number 6 the celebrations have all been the same, very subdued.

Mike Gains, Uplands Golf Club, Hole #4
It was our last Uplands Golf Club Men’s Night, and I was playing with my three chums Mike Paget, Kerry Davies and Randy Price from high school in Victoria (1974).
4th hole at Uplands GC, 165 yards and the ball took one bounce and the second bounce disappeared into the hole! Very special hole-in-one to me as it came during the 100-year Anniversary of our Golf Club!
My only other hole-in-one was at Gorge Vale Golf Club as a new member in 1984.
Michael (Mike) Gains
Pamela Piotrowski, Boyne Highlands Resort & Country Club, Hole #16
Hi,
Thank you very much for reaching out and acknowledging this exciting moment during my 2022 golf season.
I was playing with my husband, Alex Yandryk, and friends, Angie and Craig Anderson (all active Golf Canada members). During our last day of playing at Boyne Highlands, I stared down the 95 yard #16 at the Arthur Hills course with my pitching wedge and after one bounce, it rolled into the hole. Funny thing is that my playing partners all saw the ball go into the hole, but I forgot to wear my contacts that day and only saw the ball flight off the tee but nothing else!
Although this is my second hole-in-one, it truly an awesome moment for me.
Thanks for the graphic to help commemorate this occasion.
Regards,
Pam Piotrowski
Rae McLeod, Dakota Dunes Golf Links, Hole #15
Had an absolutely marvelous day on the course today. Great weather, great friends and a hole-in-one. What more could I ask for?
I hit a 7 iron in to the 135-yard, back pin on the signature hole. It traced nicely to the green and rolled down toward the pin. It looked good but appeared to stop a couple feet short, so I bent over to pick up my tee when my playing partners yelled, “it went in” simultaneously. I looked up and the ball was nowhere to be seen so had to be in the hole. This is my second hole-in-one at the Dunes and both times I was picking up my tee when the ball went in and missed the actual ball drop. Still a thrilling experience.

Richard Bigsby, Riverside Country Club, Hole #11
Thanks for your email. I was playing with Rory Picklyk and Rick Gore-Hickman. It was 208 yards into a two-club wind. Hit a 3 wood. Cheers.
Scott Morgan, University Golf Club, Hole #7
Details of my fourth ace:
– UGC hole #7, 127 yards off whites.
– 6 hybrid
– Playing with Jim Davidson and Ken Teskey!
Sharon Case, Miramichi Golf & Country Club, Hole #5
Thanks for the lovely follow up regarding my recent hole-in-one.
I was very fortunate to have my brother, Bruce Clark, and my twin sister, Karen Flett, witness my shot. This was on the 5th hole and the yardage as indicated on the scorecard is 88 yards. I used a gap wedge. This actually was my seventh recorded hole-in-one which gives me a one up on my husband who last month recorded his sixth on the very same hole! We have quite the friendly competition going!
Golf is such a great game, and we sure enjoy the amazement by our fellow club mates that as a husband and wife we have 13 between the two of us.
Terri Buckingham, Fairwinds Golf Course, Hole #2
Thank you for your congratulations!
Trevor Yachimec, Pine Hills Golf Club, Hole #4
My playing partners for that beautiful day were Les Desi, Duncan Chisholm and Don (Shorty) Owchar. It was hole #4 which scoped out at 147 yards. I used my 9 iron. Shorty called it in the air and to my disbelief, it hit right of the pin, one hopped and spun into the hole.
Wanda Cook, Harmon Seaside Links, Hole #5
Hi. Thank you. It was at Harmon Seaside Links, Stephenville, N.L. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, on hole #5 which was playing 129 yards. I used my R7 rescue draw #6. My golfing buddies, Glenda White and Rowena MacDonald, were playing with me. It was very exciting.
Will Lake, Lowville Golf Club, Hole #13
Hi,
Thanks for reaching out. It feels like I’ve been on cloud nine since that magical moment.
I was golfing with Mike Morningstar and Dino Zampini. We normally tee off early and last Sunday was no different as we teed off at 7:10am at Lowville.
The round was going a little sideways before I stepped up to the tee box on hole #13. Dino had just made birdie on No. 12 to increase his lead on both Mike and me.
The wind was directly in our face on the par 3 which measured at 149 yards but was playing 160. The hole was cut on the lower tier of the green. Dino played first and came up just short. I was the next to play and used a 7 iron. I hit my line which was to land on the top tier and allow the ball to disappear down the slope to the hole. Mike’s shot ended up on the back of the green 15 feet from the hole. From the tee box, the hole was out of sight so as we were walking up to the green, we only saw Mike’s ball. I started to get a little excited. I crept up to the hole like I was hunting, trying not to make a noise. I peered over the lip of the hole and there it was, all snuggled in cozy in the bottom of the cup.
As this was my first hole-in-one ever, a rush of excitement stayed with me for the rest of the round and day. To say there were a few high fives and smiles would be an understatement. It was amazing to share that moment with the boys as while we want to beat each other, we high five each other when a great shot it made.
Will

Good morning and thank you for your email.
It really was a thrill for me! I’ve been playing for 50 years and that was my first hole-in-one. My playing partners were Ray Leonard (also a Golf Canada member) and Graham Child (a resident of England). I hit the smoothest 4 iron of my life! The hole was 171 yards.
Many thanks.

What a day.

Hello,
Take care,
Jordan

Erik Lee, Portage Golf Club, Hole #12
On July 15th during the Aaron Asham tournament, I got a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at the Portage Golf Club in Manitoba. It was a hot day with the temperature around 31 with a humidex close to 38. I was golfing with Mike Panko, Gary Woods and Susanna L’Heureux. There was a bit of wind from the east so slightly helping. Pin was set middle front at a distance of 139 yards from the tees.
I was between clubs, thinking I might hit a nine but also took an 8 iron up to the tee box. I decided on hitting a nine. Stride had a couple of tents set up handing out BP Pizza on the back of tee box with Stacy and another employee there. Brad Bailey was also there with his group.
I hit the nine beautifully, a high fade turning towards the pin. It looked like it landed right beside the pin and had stopped so I picked up my tee and turned around. A bit of time had passed when all of the sudden everyone starts going crazy. I hit it 10 feet past the pin, but the ball bounced forward and then spun all the way back into the cup. So, it looked like it was stopped but it was rolling back towards the cup when I turned around. So, I actually never saw it fall in!
I golfed pretty well after that and made a number of putts and another birdie on five by hitting it over the trees even with a headwind. Great day.
Thank you,
Erik Lee
Thanks,

Good morning,
Thank you for your email in regard to my hole-in-one. It happened on September 24th on the Radium Course. I was golfing with my husband, Wayne, and my daughter, Stacey. It was hole #12; it was a 141-yard par 3 with an elevated tee box. The club I used was an 8 iron. Unfortunately, I personally didn’t see it actually go in the hole but my daughter did so that was fun.
Thanks,

So bottom line, I won $80 but the bar tab was $125. I was playing with Chris Day, John Black and Jamie York. The hole was 138 yards. Used a 9 iron.

Hello! Thank you for the note.
I was a single and got paired with some folks I’ve never met, who will probably become good golf buddies now. ? The shot played 167 yards and I hit a 7 iron.
Couldn’t have asked for many better holes on which to pull it off. It’s probably a 60-foot drop from the tee box to the green.
There were a few people around, but I think just my partners saw the shot. I was second to hit in the group. It was just perfect; the ball pitched a foot in front of the hole and dunked on the first bounce. A club flip and a few good whoops and high fives were had, and the starter even came over to say congratulations then the drinking began! ?
Thank you so much. Have a great week!

Pat Meyer, Poppy Estate Golf Club, Hole #15
Hi,
I played with Sharon Owen and Barb Davison. The 15th hole is 145 yards, and I used my driver. The hole is uphill, and we didn’t see the ball go into the hole but when we got to the green, we couldn’t find my ball. When Barb was putting out, she said there’s a ball in here. Pulled it out and lo and behold my Srixon marked with my name in red. A thrill for sure.
Paul Deruiter, Cardinal Lakes Golf Club, Hole #18
Thanks so much for reaching out about my hole-in-one. I was playing in our Thursday night Men’s league with Greg Greovski, Bob Warnick and Steve Moore. The hole was playing 160 yards and I used an 8 iron. It was my third hole-in-one, but the first one in about 30 years.
Thanks again!

Rick Hayes, Whitetail Crossing Golf Course, Hole #16
Thanks for reaching out with the accolades and for the graphic. Here’s the story:
This is my first hole-in-one after 40 some years of playing. I’ve come close a few times, but this was the first to drop. I was playing with three buddies, Daryl, Andy and Kyle. It was a beautiful day at Whitetail Crossing (Mundare, A.B.) and I had a great back nine going. I was one over on the back heading into the par 3, 16th hole. It was playing 155 yards with a slight breeze from behind. Normally an 8 iron, but the breeze was enough for me to use my Ping G410 9 iron. I hit a solid shot just left of the target. It landed short of the green on a downslope, bounced a couple of times onto the green, then rolled in a nice arc straight into the hole. The small hill in front of the green prevented us from seeing it go in, but I thought it would be close. As we approached the green, I could not see the ball so I thought it might have rolled off the back (the greens were pretty fast that day). But Andy was there first and shouted that it was in the hole! I didn’t believe him at first, but it hit me when I looked down into the hole and there it was, my first hole-in-one! Celebratory high fives all around! This was also the last day for the CCT hole-in-one contest that ran all summer. The rules said you must call the club house right away so they can capture the video as proof. I made the call in order to qualify for the $1000 prize.

Thanks for reaching out about my hole-in-one.
The details are as follows:
I was playing with some of the hole #12 volunteers, who marshalled the hole during the CP Women’s Open recently held in Ottawa, ON. Our hole Captain, Riad, arranged the game. The hole was playing about 115 yards with a slight headwind. I was playing the forward tees and used a nine iron. The ball landed on the fringe, and we saw it roll in the hole. This was my second hole-in-one.
Ron
Ron Koop, Talbot Trail Golf Club, Hole #18
Thanks for the interest in my hole-in-one. I was playing with Frank Gow, Kevin Shaten and Claudio Sabelli. All of us are members at Erie Shores Golf Couse in Leamington, ON. Our course was closed for a tournament, so we played Talbot Trail in Wheatley, ON. The yardage was 119 yards, and I used a seven iron into the wind. Pretty good shot for someone who usually misses the green from that yardage. Thanks again for the interest.
Sharon Booth, Granite Pointe Golf Course, Hole #7
Thank you very much! This was an exciting day for me. I am 65 years old, and I have only been golfing for five years and never thought I would get a hole-in-one in my lifetime. I was playing with my husband, Doug, and some dear friends, Nancy Houston and Rod Trites. I don’t remember the exact yardage, but it was a back pin and I used my 5 hybrid. My husband saw it go in and I thought I did but I know how deceiving it can be from a distance, so I didn’t believe it until I saw the ball in the hole.
Thank you for the graphic. I have shared this with my friends and family!

Shawn Trudeau, Meadows Golf Club, Hole #7
Hello,
Our league was holding their year-end golf tournament at the Meadows Golf Club, Gloucester. On Saturday, September 17th, Shawn Trudeau was playing the South Course, hole #7 when we heard allot of happy screaming from the players. We heard, hole-in-one!
I didn’t know exactly who got the hole-in-one from the foursome, but as President of our Bell Golf League, I knew I would need to do something. I advised the golf club of this momentous experience.
This hole-in-one was on the South Course, hole #7.
I reached out to Steve (one of the foursome) who was golfing with Shawn, and this is what he recounted:
We were standing behind Shawn on the tee block as he teed off last in the group. When he hit the ball, it landed just before the green and we all thought something good could be happening. Once the ball hits pin and dropped in, I may have blacked out. Pretty sure I may have been more excited than him. Congratulations Shawn.
Regards,
Sandy Booth, on behalf of Shawn Trudeau
Stan Pink, Lingan Golf & Country Club, Hole #6
Hello and thank you! The day I achieved the hole-in-one I was using a 6 iron as I was hitting into 50 km/h cross winds. I was golfing with Vaughn MacDonald, Cyril MacQueen, and one other individual. The distance I hit it from was 172 yards.
It was a good day!
Thanks,
Stan Pink
Susan Hansen, Edson Golf Club, Hole #17
Hi. Thanks for following up! I was playing with a fellow member, Catie Kopp. It was 128 yards, and I used a 7 iron and a Titleist ball. This was actually my second hole-in-one, my first was August 6, 2008, at Edson as well, hole #8. I have been golfing for 36 years. Thanks.
Terry Hilton, Princeton Golf Course, Hole #7
Hi,
Every Fall, this group gets together and travels to a B.C. area for a week of golf. This year, we stayed in Osoyoos. Each day we golfed a different golf club ending with a team scramble event at the Princeton Golf Course on Friday. On Friday September 16th, I was golfing with Charlie Brard, Newton Wainman and Neil Weisner.
We were -2 getting to the sixth hole and shot a bogey. The 7th hole was a par 135-yard par 3. I was second in the order. We could see the flag but a mound in front prevented seeing the hole. I selected an 8 iron and aimed right of the hole hoping it would roll down to the flag. We were confident that three of the four tee shots were on the green. Once we got to the green, we only saw two balls. Neil went and checked the hole and there was my ball. I was ecstatic!
Good thing I bought hole-in-one insurance. This was a thirsty group. We ended up tied for first place with two other teams at six under. Amazing day to end a great trip with great people.
The Princeton Golf Course gave me 2 passes and a hole-in-one golf bag tag.
Great golf course.
Terry Hilton
Tim Heffernan, Emma Lake Golf Course, Hole #10
Thank you for the congratulations. This was my first hole-in-one. The distance was 184 yards, and I used my TaylorMade five iron and a Titleist Velocity ball. I was golfing with my wife Judy, and my hole-in-one was also witnessed by Gerald Brunning who works at the Saskatchewan golf course. My golf swing and contact was one of my best, which made the results even more exciting. The trajectory was perfect, and the ball tracked the pin for the entire shot, absolutely no fade or draw. It was difficult to be 100% certain that the ball had gone in, so Gerald jumped in his cart, rushed to the green, verified the hole-in-one, and then gave me two thumbs up before Judy and I had left the tee box. Judy missed the green on her shot but followed up with a beautify pitch shot that we will also remember for a long time.
My excitement likely contributed to my double bogey on hole #11, but then I settled down and had three birdies on the back nine, in addition to the hole-in-one. It was late in the day when we finished, and the Emma Lake Golf Course Bar was closed so Jude and I drove straight home for a couple cold beers. What a beautiful ending to the day.
Tony Gibbs, Brundenell Golf Course, Hole #5
Thanks for reaching out to me on the hole-in-one. The yardage was 135 and I used a 7 iron. It was quite windy there as well with the wind blowing from left to right. The ball landed on the front of the green, took one hop and rolled to the cup and dropped in. My playing partners were all yelling, “go in, go in.” We have been playing this mini tournament for quite a while now and usually we have anywhere from 12-16 guys, and some come from as far away as British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. This was our 25th anniversary this year and it is the first hole-in-one in 25 years. The names of my foursome are Roger Maslen, Fred Graham and Gerrard McInnis.
Travis Bale, Rossmere Country Club, Hole #12
Thanks so much! I was playing with fellow members Evan Riffel and Zach Payonk. It was a well struck 8 iron from 158 yards that bounced on the green, hit the flagstick and disappeared into the cup.
Cheers,
Travis

Hello,
Thanks. It was an amazing time. I experienced this with family and friends. That day, I played with my neighbour, Jazz Makkar, Aman Saggu and nephew, Raman Sahota. We were on 8th hole par 3 and playing from white tees. Hole measured 165 yards and I used a 7 iron. I was the last guy to shoot and had a good swing. One bounce and it rolled in.

John Leask, Michelson National Golf Club, Hole #15
Thanks for the email. It was a great day for sure at Mickelson National! The hole was #15. The yardage was 169. I took the shot with a 7 iron.
Thank you!

Hello,
Take care,
Jordan

Hi Golf Canada,

Matthew Bylander, Belmont Golf Course, Hole #5

Paul Deruiter
Paul Titus, Batteaux Creek Golf Course, Hole #16
Thanks for the congratulations on my hole-in-one. I was playing with Bill Lynch, Doug Wanamaker and John Eversfield. On September 14, hole number 16 measured 140 yards and I hit an 8 iron.

Ron Braedley, Eagle Creek Golf Course, Hole #8

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Braden Messer, Tobiano Golf Course, Hole #3
We were on our annual trip and decided to go to Kamloops this year. I was playing with my good friends Ryan Thompson, Brandon Kerr and Jeremy Mitchell. It was on hole #3, 136 yards and I hit my pitching wedge. It landed on the green, bounced and spun and headed toward the hole. I heard my ball hit the pin as it disappeared. The Marshall had even just pulled up beside the green to see it all happen.
Ethan Kummerfield, Tobiano Golf Course, Hole #3
Thanks for the message. I was playing with two of my buddies, Tanner Goetz and Brandon Vervalcke. It was 131 yards, and I used a pitching wedge.
Thanks,
Ethan
Jake Kearley, Eagles Nest Golf Club, Hole #8
Hi there!
Can't believe I got one! Thank you for the graphic!
Occurred on hole number 8 at Eagles Nest on Thursday, September 1st. I grabbed my gap wedge and hit three quarters swing to a front pin with a 121 yardage. The ball bounced about 10 feet short and right of the pin. The ball then rolled up and right in the front of the hole.
I was playing with my good friend, Conner Rowntree.
Thanks,
Jake Kearley
Jeremy Borys, University Golf Club, Hole #16
To Golf Canada,
I received a hole-in-one during a team shotgun scramble tournament. After a long hot day of birdies and bogeys we were coming to the last hole to finish, which was Hole 16 at the UBC golf course. I had not been contributing to the team's score very well all day. This was the last chance for me to pull something out of the hat. I specifically remember calling the shot before hitting, pulling a 5 iron on a 195-yard par 3, hitting slightly to the right of the green and letting it roll down towards the hole. Low and behold that was exactly what happened except the ball disappeared. Looking at the group at the next tee box they began to scream in excitement, which is when it hit me that I just holed it.
Thanks,
Jeremy Borys
Lynn Dashkewytch, The Springs Course, Hole #14
Yes, it was an exciting to get a hole-in-one. I was playing with my husband, Paul Dashkewytch, and our friends, Kelly Dunn and Mike LaFarge. It was the 14th hole at The Springs Course in Radium. It was a back left pin (100 yards), and I used an A wedge. The shot landed passed the pin and slowly rolled back towards the hole. It was great fun as we were able to watch the ball slowly trickle into the hole. A foursome was waiting on the 15th hole, and they saw it too which added to the excitement. My only other hole-in-one was also at the Springs in 1998. The Springs gave me a flag to keep as a momentum which is so thoughtful.
Lynn Dashkewytch
Rob Belinski, Black Mountain Golf Club, Hole #7
Playing with friends Brian Rowe and Dave McConnell and added to the group was Brad Dahl. This was a fun one because we could watch it all the way. Dave’s comment while it was in the air “you’re buying drinks”.
Rod Belinski
Balwinder Sahota, Glen Eagle Golf Club, Hole #8
Hello,

Cheers,
Travis
Thomas Hebert, Brundenell Golf Course, Hole #3
Thank you. I was playing with Joe Johnson and Taylor Johnson. It was 160 yards to the flag I hit an 8 iron.
Todd Read, Riverview Golf Club, Hole #8
Good afternoon,
Thank you for the email. I was fortunate to have holed out on our 8th hole on September 1, 2022. It was playing 220 yards. I used my 5 iron as it was down wind. It was witnessed by my wife, Karen Read, and our Club General Manager, Jaubron Widdis. I have been fortunate to have holed out on this hole two previous times and it was my 26th hole-in-one in my lifetime.
Take care,
Todd Read
Xin Zhang, Country Hills Golf Club, Hole #16
Thanks so much for your email, which extended my excitement!
It’s #16, 161 yards to the pin, I used my 8 iron. Simon Deng, Michael Pat and Hai Wang were the witnesses. At that moment, my ball hit the back edge of the green, nine yards behind the pin, then bounced forward about one yard, after an obvious pause in the short cut rough (maybe two seconds only), the ball came back slowly, rolled towards the hole, and in the hole finally. Fantastic shot!
Thanks again!
Jackie (Xin) Zhang

Frank Dakos, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #5
I appreciate the email and your congratulations.
I was playing in the Seniors "Boomer" league with George Moon, Ted Powers and Mo Smith. When we got to the 5th hole, a par 3, I realized I'd left my Pinseeker at the last hole, so everyone in my group hit away when I went back to retrieve the Pinseeker.
Not finding it, I returned to the hole and my group started checking the carts to see if it was misplaced somewhere there.
The hole was 145 yards and I hit my 8 iron, and the ball landed about 6' from pin and rolled up. It disappeared and I said to my group (who were busy checking the cart) that I thought the ball might have gone in hole! I didn't get too excited because that green has several dips where a ball can roll to and disappear from view but still be far from the hole.
We drove up to the hole and there was a ball about 4' from pin and I thought it must be mine, but after I checked, it was my cart partners. I looked in the hole and there was my ball! At that point my whole four some got excited! My first hole-in-one!
At Whistlebear, anone getting a hole-in-one gets to ring a large bell in the lounge, and also get 25 drink tickets. Surprisingly, I seemed to have a lot of friends there that day as I gave away 23 tickets!
Thanks again for the interest.

Frank Dakos
Balwinder Sahota, Glen Eagle Golf Club, Hole #8
Hello,
Cheers,

Thanks,

Grant Armstrong, Royal Liverpool Golf Course, Hole #11
Good morning and thank you for your email.
It really was a thrill for me! I’ve been playing for 50 years and that was my first hole-in-one. My playing partners were Ray Leonard (also a Golf Canada member) and Graham Child (a resident of England). I hit the smoothest 4 iron of my life! The hole was 171 yards.
Many thanks.

Harvey Brinkman, Royalwood Golf and RV Resort, Hole #8
I had a hole-in-one at Royalwood Golf and RV Resort on August 9, 2022. Hole #8 it was playing 130 yards from the white tees. I am a member at Royalwood Golf and RV Resort.
Janet Johnson, Glen Lea Golf Course, Hole #2
Was golfing with my friend, Ann Hlynsky, at Glen Lea Golf Course in Brandon, Manitoba on July 03, 2022. I had a terrible first hole (scored a 7)! When I got to the second hole, the course Marshall (Brent Mills) was there filling the box up with score cards. We talked a bit, then he stayed and watched us tee off. Ann went first, hit a nice ball which landed in the green. My turn now. Swing and finish felt perfect, and we watched it land near the hole, and roll right into the cup! At first, I was a little stunned, then realized what happened! Threw my club up in the air, hugged Ann and then the Marshall (whom I’d just met!)
When we finished the front nine, the staff was waiting for me, and presented me with a ‘hole in one’ congratulations banner, and took a photo of me holding it, as well as my pitching wedge and Titleist golf ball, that I had used.
As I found out later, I had two witnesses, but the whole golf course heard me. ?
To have witnessed a hole-in-one on TV, or have a friend tell you they had one is one thing, but when you get your own first one, there’s no feeling like it! Plus, I had just turned 75, five weeks earlier! ?
Jason Higson, Summerland Golf & Country Club, Hole #4
What a fun time in Summerland, B.C.! I was playing with my dad, Gary Higson, his friend, Tom Moran and one of Tom’s friends from Penticton. The yardage was 135 yards. I used a gap wedge and hit it 10 feet pass the pin and it slowly backed up to the flag and then disappeared! After some celebrating on the tee box, we snapped a picture with the three of us from Dawson Creek, B.C.!
Jeff Morris, Clovelly Golf Course, Hole #15
I did get a hole-in-one on Saturday, and it was my first! I was playing with Jacob Losinski (another member at Clovelly), and it was on hole #15 at The Osprey. It was a front pin, 120 yards, playing about 130 with wind in the face. I hit a flighted pitching wedge that landed about a foot past the hole and rolled back in!
Jeff
Jeff Narraway, Mountain Creek Golf Club, Hole #14
Thank you for the congratulations.
– Whether: Sunny, high around 30 degrees Celsius.
– Location: Mountain Creek Golf Course is located just outside of Arnprior, Ontario. Hole #14 is a 135-yard par 3 from the whites and runs east to west with a small pond to the front right of the green. That day it was playing 129 yards from the whites.
– Club: I used my Mazuma pitching wedge.
– Ball: Orange Titleist Velocity
– Background: Playing a threesome (Wendy MacNaughton, Dan Turcotte and I), teed off at 08:00. We were shooting into the sun, and it was difficult to watch/see the ball. But we could hear the plop when the ball landed. Dan shot first, then me and Wendy. When we arrived at the green, Dan’s ball was sitting on the front of the green. But I could not see my ball on the green. We looked all over and off the green in case I overshot. Then we saw the ball mark about 30” in front of the hole and when I looked in the hole and to my surprise there it was, and I had my first hole-in-one.
Take care and stay safe.
Jeff
Jim Cronin, Crimson Ridge, Hole #7
I scored my ace on #7 at Crimson Ridge golf course in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on August 22, 2022. Playing partners were Gino Cavallo and Val and Jean Suriano. The pin was at the back which made it a 180 yard shot. I used my two hybrid club and initially thought I had overshot the green. One of my playing partners helped me look in the rough behind the green. I was preparing to take my penalty shot when another member of our foursome yelled “There’s a ball in the hole!” Sure enough my Titlest with a distinctive red stripe was nestled in the bottom of the hole. This is my second hole-in-one, the first one being scored nine years ago on a Michigan course. Kudos to PGA of Canada instructor Travis Spiess at Crimson who has helped improve my swing.

Jon Andrews, St. Andrews By-The-Lake, Hole #5
Given my surname, it is rather ironic that my first hole-in-one occurred at St. “Andrews” by the lake.
It occurred on August 9, 2022, during a family reunion trip in Summerland (I live in Ladner and normally play at Surrey Golf). I was golfing with my wife, Karen, and my cousin, Ray, who was visiting from England. I had last played the course about 25 years ago when I had just taken up golfing.
There is a walk up to the tee box. As the card said 191 yards, I went up with 5 hybrid. However, once at the tee box, my GPS read 204. There was a wait before I could tee off and someone in the following group arrived and confirmed the distance as 204 yards.
Given the GPS reading, it was a good thing I was too lazy to go back and get my 4 hybrid as the 5 hybrid did the trick. I saw it land before the green and bend on the green towards the hole, but I thought the ball had rolled past the hole. My wife thought it might have gone in the hole.
When I didn’t see the ball on the green, I didn’t dare look in the hole until I checked behind the green. As the ball wasn’t there, I peeked into the hole and was ecstatic to see the ball and that I finally had my first hole in one at age 58.
As it happens, on the previous hole I was 2” from getting an eagle on a par 4 for the first time. That’ll have to wait for another day.
Judi Richard, Eaglequest Grandview Golf & Country Club, Hole #7
Thank you for your kind letter, I was thrilled to receive it!
I played from the red tees. Yardage was 140 yards, and I used my 4 hybrid. It’s an elevated tee with the flag was at the front of the green. I watched it go straight for the flag. I couldn’t see the hole, so we had to wait until we reached the green. When I didn’t see my ball anywhere, I presumed it was in the hole and it was. Lots of screaming started happening when we all took a look at it sitting pretty in the hole! It was Ladies Day, so we had ladies coming up #6 and ladies in front on #8, lots of excitement. It was my first hole-in-one at Grandview and a day I’ll not likely forget.
The names of the ladies I was playing with when I got my hole-in-one are Sheila MacDougall, Sandra Attersley and Pam Ellis.
Thank you once again, I’m grateful for Golf Canada’s interest.

Kristy Fearn, Sandpiper Golf Club, Hole #12
It was a very fun day. I was playing with Jenifer Jones. Yardage on hole 12 that day was about 89 yards. I used my approach wedge, hit the fringe, took one hop, and rolled in the hole. Nicest hole for it as the view is spectacular.
Louise Lee, Campbell River Golf & Country Club, Hole #18
I made my hole-in-one on hole #18. It was a back pin that day so it lasered at about 120 yards. Wind was against us, so I clubbed up to a 7 wood. Landed in front and rolled about 30 feet to the pin.
I knew to club up as I had participated with my Mayfair Lakes GC (Richmond, B.C.) members two days earlier in the Howie Meeker golf tournament (in support of Special Olympics for the Campbell River chapter) held at the Campbell River GC and my 9 wood fell short and the ball ended in the lake fronting the green. Lesson learned!
The assistant pro, Tony Rommel, at Mayfair grew up in the Campbell River/Comox area and he brings a contingent of members to support the Howie Meeker tournament every year. We only missed 2020 tournament due to COVID-19. It is always great fun!

Louise
Mark Hougen, Silver Springs Golf & Country Club, Hole #17
My first hole-in-one was Friday August 26 at Silver Springs Golf Club is sunny Calgary. I was playing with my amazing wife, Traci Meades, (who had her first hole-in-one earlier this season as well) and our friends Randy and Corrine Chappell.
Hole #17. par 3. 142 yards. Used a pitching wedge.
Randy and I jokingly talked about not having seen a hole-in-one as we walked up to the 17th tee box. I went first. While my well struck ball, with a baby draw, is in the air, I jokingly say “get in the hole so Randy can see a hole-in-one.”
As the ball approaches the green, I lose sight of it in the shadows. Randy says he heard my ball hit the flagstick. But none of us know where my ball ended up.
As we walked up to the green, we discover that my ball went directly into the cup…never hit the putting surface.
I don’t normally take my cell phone on the golf course, but I did that day as I was expecting a call from a client. Glad I did…so I have great photos (and memories) from that day!
Thanks Golf Canada!
Matthew Watson, Brightwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #15
I was golfing with my mom and dad (Stehpanie and John Watson). I hit an 8 iron 144 yards. We watched it hit the front of the green and roll in. It was my first ever hole-in-one. Thank you for the image.
Nathan Keller, Greenbryre Golf & Country Club, Hole #3
Thank you so much for reaching out! As if getting my first hole-in-one wasn’t already exciting enough.
I’ve been playing golf a long time, but it wasn’t until the last three years that I started putting more effort into improving my game. I’ve always been a long hitter, coming from a baseball and hockey background, so my short game is where I have been spending the most practise. With more time spent golfing, my wife and son started joining me and golfing more as well. Sunday was the first time we took on the challenge of taking my daughter (2 years old) along with my son, (5 years old) out for a round. Amongst the chaos of two restless kids, I somehow managed to pull off the best shot of my life so far.
The hole was a 126-yard par 3, slightly uphill and playing a bit downwind. 126 yards is between a gap wedge and a pitching wedge for me, but I opted to go for a choked up three-quarter swing pitching wedge. The ball was struck perfectly, and it was precisely on the line I had picked. I knew it was a good shot instantly. Upon landing, I immediately froze trying to focus my eyes on just how close it really was, and that’s when the ball disappeared. My wife and I quickly turn to each other, and both simultaneously say, “I think it went in!”
I took a video of the walk with my son up to the green to verify that it had indeed dropped in the hole. Below is the hole in one picture, and a day on the course with my family I’ll never forget.
Roberto Erana, Fort Langley Golf Course, Hole #15
It was on hole #15. 158 yards. I used a Callaway Razr 4 rescue club.
We are part of a golf club called Parbreakers Vancouver.
The other 3 golfers in my flight were Binky Cruz, Vic Legazpi and Chole Cebrero.
Thanks.
Trish Santo, Legends in Warman, Hole #7
I was very amazed to learn that you knew about my hole-in-one on Tuesday, August 16 at the Legends in Warman. Thank you for your recognition of my special day.
To answer your questions: Tuesday is Ladies’ Day for our Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf League at the Legends. This year, we have 37 members from all walks of life and a very sociable group. I was playing with Maureen, Sylvia and Cindy. The par 3, hole #7 from the forward red blocks is 92 yards. In the past, I have tried using a 9 iron and was never satisfied with the results. So, recently I have started using my 6 iron (I don’t have a 7 or 8 iron in my bag) with better results. On the 16th, I teed up and had also changed my ball from a Callaway to a Pinnacle Lady with my lucky number 4 on it. My shot was the sweetest, lovely in the air, straight at the flag and dropped almost immediately into the hole. Our cheers echoed across to the group behind us. Since our fun day game was closest to the pin on the par 3’s. I had my name on the proximity marker for the prize.
The next sweetest thing is my name and date goes on a small, engraved plate mounted on the hole #7 board in the upper hall of the clubhouse. Four boards are there for each of the par 3 holes and above, the title Legends Hole in One Club. My name plate is the first one on the hole #14 board for my hole-in-one on September 28, 2011, during the first game I played at the newly opened Legends course. I didn’t see that one go into the hole because I was picking up my tee and looked up to see my playing partners cheering wildly. This wall display is a special to all the people whose names are on it and an excellent tribute by the Legends course management.
Thank you for the extra special celebration you have added to my achievement.
Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Robert Backus, Rattlesnake Point, Hole #15
Good afternoon, thanks for reaching out. Was a great day yesterday with hitting the hole-in-one. Playing on Copperhead at Rattlesnake, we started on the back nine and got to hole 15. Blues were playing 168 with a blue flag. Took out the 8 Iron and proceeded to hit the shot of the day. Ball was tracking nice fading in from left to right. I watch the ball hit the green but where the tee box was and the fact the pin was below elevation, I lost sight of it. I walked to my left to see if I could see the ball and was still unsure due to my sight line.
In my group was a friend Paul Chapman who was playing from the white tees, so he was standing on those blocks and did not see it from there either. After Paul hit his into the bunker on the sand, I said to Paul, “I think the ball is in the hole”. Paul did a small laugh and then we walked up and onto the green to see no ball in sight. As we walked up, I started a video on my phone, and you can clearly see my ball mark on the green and then we followed it right into the hole.
Thanks,
Rob Backus
Zara Kenley, Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, Hole #8
Thank you for acknowledging Zara’s hole-in-one. This is her mother, Nancy Kenley helping her respond to the email as Zara is 12 years old and going in grade 7.
She was super excited about getting a hole-in-one. Zara was playing a round by herself at her beautiful home course and I was driving her in a cart, like I often do. The yardage was about 129 yards and she hit the ball with a 9 iron. It was raining on and off.
I actually recorded a video of the hole-in-one, as I often video her golfing, and especially usually on par 3’s as Zara has been obsessed with wanting to get a hole-in-one since she first learned about them.
We hope to find a program that will track and show the ball, as you can barely see it in the air on the left, then it drops and rolls to the hole.
I could see it through my camera phone, and you can see Zara’s surprised expression as she realized it went in the hole. Her reaction is priceless.
The story is even more exciting, as a few years ago, a member, Joey, mentioned that he jumped in the pond once he got a hole-in-one. Our assistant, Pro Fletcher, had promised Zara that if she ever got a hole-in-one, she could push him in the pond on hole #2. So, this Friday, everyone is meeting at hole #2 at 6pm for Fletcher, Joey and Zara to get pushed/jump in the pond.
Thank you,
Nancy Kenley, on behalf of Zara Kenley

Jeff Morris, Clovelly Golf Course, Hole #15
I did get a hole-in-one on Saturday, and it was my first! I was playing with Jacob Losinski (another member at Clovelly), and it was on hole #15 at The Osprey. It was a front pin, 120 yards, playing about 130 with wind in the face. I hit a flighted pitching wedge that landed about a foot past the hole and rolled back in!

Kim Somers, Glencairn Golf Club, Hole #7
Thank you so much for your email!
Last Thursday was a day I won’t soon forget. It was a special Ladies’ Day at our club as member, Wendy Hanson, arranged for a Golf Fore the Cure day. She reached out to Michael Murillo, the General Manager of Subaru of Mississauga, and a “win the car” hole was organized.
I was playing with great friends: Margaret Green, Lisa Trudell and Darlene Monkman all members at Glencairn.
Darlene hit first and I was next to go. It was hole #7, Scotch Block, the car was on the tee box and the Director of Golf, Mike Grierson, was also there.
The hole was a downhill par 3 and the pin measured at 155 yards. I used my 27 degree hybrid. The ball landed a few inches short of the green, hopped on and seemed to roll in slow motion towards the pin. We were watching it and getting more excited by the moment when all of a sudden it disappeared and that’s when the hugs, high fives and cheering drew notice from the other golfers.
I was shaking. I couldn’t believe what had just happened! We got down to the hole to retrieve my ball, took some photos and tried to carry on with the remaining 11 holes the best I could.
I phoned my husband, who was golfing at Rattlesnake, to share the news with him and he was just as excited as I was. It was our 15th wedding anniversary that day and it’s an anniversary to remember! We celebrated with a glass of wine that evening.
Funny story…we have a hole-in-one trophy in our house, and it travels in the family, by blood or marriage, to the person with the most recent hole-in-one. The first hole in engraved on it is from 1930. Most recently, my husband has had the trophy with three consecutive hole-in-ones beginning in July 2020 and I’ve finally been able to take it away from him. ?
Regards,
Randy Miller, Cooke Municipal Golf Course, Hole #12
Thanks for the interest.
The tournament was the Prince Albert Senior Northern, second day of a two event. Threesome; Glen Erickson from Medicine Hat and Barry M. from Saskatoon. His wife was caddying.
The day before, on the same hole, it was the $10,000 hole-in- one hole. I played pretty well the same shot and lipped out. We thought it had gone in because it was behind the pin and hard to see. The spotter told us it lipped out. Of course, no money the next day when I did ace it.
About 138 yards, into a wind, used a TaylorMade 6 hybrid. I got a hole-in-one in the same tournament in 2021 on a different hole.
Take care.
Rob Brown, Coloniale Golf Club, Hole #8
I was playing with a father and son (Blaine and Blaine Jr.) on a sunny Friday afternoon after work.
The 8th hole was playing 191 yards downwind with the flag at the front of the green just over a hump. I hit 6 iron and it was in line with the hole, but we couldn’t see it. I was expecting to see the ball roll up the hill past the hole, but it never appeared. One of my playing partners said, “I think that might be in” but I had my doubts.
As we approached the green, the ball was still nowhere to be seen. I walked to the hole and sure enough it was there. I’m not sure who was more excited – me or my playing partners – but it was a special moment. The rest of the round was a great time for all of us.
Rob Couch, Wildwinds Golf Links, Hole #3
In regard to the details of my hole-in-one, I was playing with my friend I play with almost every round and one other person we were matched up with. The yardage was 175 with the wind at my back. I used an 8 iron and dunked it straight in the hole.
Thomas Considine, Landings Golf Course, Hole #5
Thank you for your email.
I was playing with Chris Hall and Dan Wiles. My golf watch said the distance was about 135 yards. I was using my 7 iron.

Tom MacLeod, Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club, Hole #9
On August 1, 2022, I was playing on the final day of our Club Championships at my home course of Priddis Greens (Hawk course). Hole #9 was playing 195 yards downhill into a bit of a fan. Hit a good 6 iron into a back right pin and my playing partner, Boyd Hall, also hit a decent shot, but neither of us saw either ball land due to the glare of the sun off the surface of the green.
Boyd was driving a cart and I was walking, so he got down to the green well before I did. On my walk to the green, I could see Boyd’s about 20 feet left of the hole, but still couldn’t see mine. My ball mark was about six feet in front of the hole, and Boyd told me to look in the hole to find my ball. Whoot! Ace!
Fun fact, my last ace prior to this one was also during our Club Championships and was on the very same day, August 1st, 2021, exactly one year earlier.
Tom MacLeod
Warren Higginson, Dakota Dunes Golf Links, Hole #6
Got my hole-in-one on August 16 at Dakota Dunes Golf Links while playing with my regular weekly senior golf group. It happened on the par 3, 6th hole, approximately 155 yards with a 9 iron. There was a small bush in our line of site so we didn’t see it go in.
Wayne Allen, Inglewood Golf & Curling Club, Hole #15
It was on hole #15 at Inglewood in Calgary. It was a beauty of a 5 iron at 177 yards. I was golfing with a couple members and a teacher who taught in Morley. I’m the one with the glove on and it was my second one at this course!
Zac Austin, Kamplooks Golf & Country Club, Hole #4
So, on Saturday I was playing in an amateur tournament in Kamloops, B.C., hole number 4, literally 4th hole of my tournament. I was playing with three others named Wyatt, Taylor and Aaron. Yardage was about 149 so I hit a comfortable pitching wedge. It landed one foot behind the pin and spun in. I ended up finding out that it was on the money hole, and I won monetary prize on my first ever ace!
