Chad Connelly, Lakeview Golf Club, Hole #17

I played with a father (Lee) and son (Dan). Dan lives in Etobicoke/Mississauga and Lee and his wife just moved back to Nova Scotia recently. Having lived in N.S. for over five years, we had a good chat about the region and the golf courses out there. When I asked if they were playing for anything, Dan said, “We don’t get to see each other very often so it’s just nice to get out and spend time with him.” How’s that for a feel good moment?

Standing on the 17th tee, the blocks were at the back of the deck and the laser revealed 104 to the front pin. I hit a smooth 50 degree which was right on target the entire way. It hit just past the pin by about five feet (can can see the pitch mark in my first image). It took a pretty sweet check-bounce and started trickling back towards the hole until it disappeared. Lee started cheering, “It’s in” but I still didn’t believe it having been close more than a few times only to find it sitting directly behind the pin. As I approached the green, sure enough, it wasn’t on the surface. It was in the hole.

I then birdied the very next hole (18) after landing my approach to one foot!

All-in-all, a funday and a pretty surreal moment on 17.

In traditional fashion, I bought Lee and Dan drinks on the patio, and we chatted a bit more before saying our goodbyes

Jeff Soltesz, El Rio Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a weekly get together with friends from a condominium community in Fort Myers, Florida. We play El Rio in North Fort Myers every Thursday morning while us snowbirds are here in Southwest Florida. The same group of 16-24 people get shuffled about, so they try to have everyone play with everyone at least once. I cannot recall who precisely I was playing with that day, but I had three witnesses.

The hole was #7. It was playing 162 yards into a strong headwind. I hit a 5 iron and watched it land a little front and to the left on the green then it rolled for about 30 feet into the cup.

I’m on average what one would consider a bogey golfer…this was the second hole-in-one of my life.

I did take note of the fact that I was playing a higher quality ball that day (Taylor Made TP5) that was gifted to me and things just felt different/better. I normally play a more budget friendly ball (Noodle) because I didn’t think I could feel the difference, but now I’m starting to think differently. We’ll see how things go from here.

Stuart Dickinson, Penticton Golf & Country Club, Hole #16

It was a 9 iron from 137 yards, little baby draw and spun it back into the cup. My first hole-in-one. I played golf from 14-19 and then took it up again at 40 when I joined Fairview Mountain Golf Club.

Nicole Hunt, Yuma Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband. The hole is 145 yards to the middle and the flag was in the back so the yardage was closer to 150. I teed off with my driver. I could see I hit the green as was excited about that. As we are walking towards the green I could no longer see my ball and assumed I over drove the green. My husband started looking in the bunker in the left and I went off the green expecting to have to chip on. We couldn’t find my ball so I said to myself “no way”, I decided to go check the hole and there it was. I spend a lot of time on golf. We winter in Arizona and usually golf every day of the week except Saturdays.

The ball behind me in the picture is my husband’s ball. It’s my first hole-in-one.

Diana Kirkland, River Strand Golf & Country Club (Tributary/Estuary, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I started golfing casually with my husband’s old set of golf clubs back in 1989 participating in friendly games and tournaments with our family and friends, I never played more than two or three rounds per year. In 2004 I was started playing in corporate events while working as a sales representative, again only an additional two or three rounds a season.

In 2016 I purchased my first set of golf clubs so that I could play regularly at our winter residence at River Strand Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, Florida. Upon my retirement in 2017, I joined the private golf club that my husband was a member at, York Downs Golf and Country Club in Unionville, Ontario and started playing regularly during the 2018 season.

When golfing I am typically very relaxed but a rather fast golfer, I rarely take a practice swing and cruise quickly up the fairways in order to hit my next shot. On the greens I am not very good at reading putts so I typically just aim for the center of the hole and hope for the best result.

Generally, I am a very positive person and have a very optimistic view on life. Over the years I joke with my family and friends that on every par three I am going to get a hole-in-one. Everyone would laugh or smirk and my husband would shake his head indicating that “sure you are good luck once again.”

At 4:15 pm on Monday, January 1, 2024, my wish came true while playing in a foursome with my husband, Stephen Kirkland and our friends, Laurie Gain and her husband Roger Kennedy. We were playing at the River Strand Golf and Country Club, on the Tributary course, on the fifth hole, from the gold tees at 128 yards to the hole. I teed up a water-logged green Titleist “Velocity” golf ball that I pulled from the bottom of my bag so as not to lose one of my better balls into the lake that ran up the entire right side of the hole. The club I used was a TaylorMade Aero Burner 4 Rescue.

I hit the ball in the air right down the middle to the elevated green and watched the ball climb up onto the front of the green and roll down into a depression that runs horizontally across the center of the green. The ball tracked to the right side of the green and then disappeared. Roger Kennedy then announced that he heard the ball hit the pin, my husband indicated that he did not hear anything so we were all intrigued to find out where the ball ended up. I started walking along the shoreline of the lake with my ball retriever looking for stray golf balls in the lake while my friend, Laurie Gain started walking quickly to the green, curious to discover the final resting place of my tee shot. Laurie arrived at the green and did not see a ball on the green so while walking briskly to the hole she pulled out her mobile phone so she could video my reaction if indeed the ball was in the hole. At this point in time, I picked up my pace and started sprinting to the green while dragging along my pull cart. Laurie peered into the hole and then she threw her hands in the air and screamed, “It’s in the hole.” Everyone stated yelling and screaming and jumping around in a circle hugging each other while whooping it up until I finally bent over and pulled the water-logged golf ball out from the hole. Exhilarating is all I can say.

We completed the round and headed back to the Clubhouse to report the event to the Pro-Shop staff and have a drink in the Grill Room to celebrate my achievement. Upon our arrival back to the clubhouse we were disappointed that the Pro-Shop had closed, the Grill Room was closed and the Clubhouse Dining Room was closed because it was New Year’s Day. We packed up our golf equipment and we all headed back to our home and celebrate with a shot of Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey.

That night I woke up at 4:00 am in the morning and could not get back to sleep until I researched the odds of getting a hole-in-one. Apparently, the odds for getting a hole-in-one, according to Google are 12,500:1 for an amateur golfer and 2,500:1 for a professional golfer.

I guess that I am one of the lucky one’s!

François Lépinay, Avondale Golf Club, Hole #15 & #8

The poster that was put on the boards at Avondale for my two, yes two, holes-in-one in two consecutive days.

Mel Hennigar, Forty Niner Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two other members of the Forty Niner Golf Club, Tom Koester and Frank Balcom. New Year’s Day. It was 161 yards and I used a 6 hybrid (Taylormade Stealth). It was one of those shots that felt good right as soon as I hit it. We watched it land on the green and roll straight to the pin and drop. This is my second hole-in-one within six months. My third overall.

Wendy Larson, Golf Club at Terra Lago, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was on the par 3, sixth hole. About 100 yards. I used my 5 hybrid as I am not a long hitter. I hit the front of the green and the ball rolled to the left a few feet. I heard the ball hit the flag and thought I would have a short birdie putt. My husband Jim saw it roll in. I was also golfing with Michael, a gentleman that joined us.

Karen Anderson, The Links of Spruce Creek South, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Back in 2008, I had two holes-in-one at our home course, along with an Eagle on our par 5 hole #10 at West Haven G&CC in London, Ontario. My husband also happened to have two holes-in-one that year and we were written up in Golf Ontario magazine. Quite a thrill. However, it’s been a long 16-year draught for me since then. On January 7th we played at my favourite course just outside of The Villages, FL. It’s the Links at Spruce Creek and my husband and I played with very good friends Nan and Chuck. I was having a killer round with three birdies and then came to the 16th par 3. It was 117 yards and I used my 7-wood. When the ball left my club, it felt so pure. We watched it travel up the elevated green, heard it rattle the pin and then watched it disappear in the hole! I then went on to have my personal best round EVER, with a 76. Definitely a day to remember for a long time.

Caroline Calderone, Lambton Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Thursday, June 21, the start of Summer Solstice was super exciting at Lambton Golf Club! I am somewhat of a new golfer and member at Lambton since 2019. I have been taking lessons from Ann Carroll, one of Lambtons amazing golf pros, to help me improve my game for my ladies Valley league.

My friend, and Lambton member, Mary Fernandes were enjoying the gorgeous afternoon when I teed off on the 8th hole about 130 yards using my Taylor Made M2 driver. The sun made it difficult to see where my ball landed but Mary said wow I think it went in the hole. Of course I started laughing with a no chance disbelief but when I approached the green and could not find my ball, I looked in the cup and could not believe my eyes! I screamed with excitement and another golfer came running over to take pictures. A truly incredible moment I won’t forget!!

The funny part is afterwards I was sitting with my husband Michael and people were coming up to congratulate Mr. Calderone with big smiles I was able to correct them and say sorry it was Mrs. Calderone.

James Stuart Barkwill, Oshawa Golf & Curling Club, Hole #10

In August 2021, my 16-year-old son was lucky enough to have shot a hole-in-one at Oshawa Golf & Curling Club in Oshawa, Ontario.

Lisa Nye, Estrella del Mar Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

It was a beautiful day in Mazatlan at the Estrella del Mar Golf and Country Club. I was on a golf trip with our Golf Professional, Debbie Janes. When I got my hole-in-one, I was playing with three other friends: Naz Sicherman, Elizabeth Bryden and Lisa Farrell. I hit my tee shot with an 8 iron on the 13th hole, 120 yard par 3, with a front right pin. It was a nice high shot that landed and rolled over a slight hill on a raised green. When we got to the green I was looking around for my ball thinking it had rolled off the green then Elizabeth said, “Uh, there is a ball in the hole”. It was very exciting – my first hole-in-one! We all shouted and hugged.

Terrance Hartwick, Whiskey Creek Country Club, Hole #16

Hole #16, and was playing 114 yards from the Blues that day. The Ranger was sitting by the green and was the first one to confirm it was in the hole. I’m 70 years old and have been golf seriously for about 2 1/2 years. My handicap is 24. Members of the foursome in front of us drove back to congratulate me on the course, (nice touch I thought). Club was a Callaway 3 rescue club, the oldest club in my bag and the most used. Ball was a Titleist 2. My playing partner of that day was my loving wife, Jackie Larouche Hartwick who deserves honourable mention because as she reminded me it has been all her great golf tips over the years that enabled the hole-in-one in the first place, and she’s not wrong.

John Esposto, Willowbrook, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first time out golfing this year in Florida. My friend Bob and I booked Willowbrook to get our first game in and also to see Alligators sunning themselves on the side of the ponds. Bill H. From Ontario joined us as a third.

After two double bogeys on the first two holes we came to the par 3 hole #3 at 143 yards. Normally I’d use a 7 iron but since it was the first time out I used a 6 iron.
I said to myself keep your head down and follow through the ball, to prevent “premature admiration”! I have this problem often! It felt great off the club and a nice follow through. I seen it land on the green and roll towards the hole. Then I lost sight of it thinking I was long and went over to the back of the green.

When we drove up to the green my ball was nowhere to be found. Bill looks in the hole and there it was my third hole-in-one. I had a hard time concentrating the rest of the game and proceeded to shoot 49/53 for 102! Not bad for the first time out! This was my third hole-in-one with the first one coming in 1985 at Cherokee Golf Course in Hamilton!

Peter Jarvis, Pelican Preserve Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

What a pleasant surprise receiving this note and the attached photo of the hole as we did not go back to photograph it.

I was partnering with a friend who is also a member of my home course Deerhurst Highlands and Pelican Preserve. We also had a father and son two-some who joined us Ken (member) and Steve his son.

It is a short hole – 155 yards on a Florida still rising incline until the green with water in front and the wind was blowing directly towards us. I pulled out a longer yardage club – my 5 wood – teed it up a bit and gave it a good stoke. It went high – seemed to almost stop in the wind and bounced on the curtain of the green just past the sandbox. The green had a slight downward slope away from us and pin was at the back so we couldn’t see where the ball ended up.

My partner remarked that was going to be a just dandy shot and Ken then hit one that landed close to mine and also looked like it had good shape. When we approached the green from different sides we both saw 1 ball close to the hole and both started looking for the other. I got there first to check if it was mine, pointed to Ken it was his and he eyeballed the cup – I went doubtfully towards the flag and lo and behold there she rested.

The rest is history and my back 9 was saved from the 2 doubles and 2 bogies that started it.

Paul Bordignon, Pitt Meadows Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 7 iron from 158 yards, I was playing with my friends and fellow Pitt Meadows Golf Club members Connor Sam and James. Hit it right at it and it was 2 hops and in and the crowd went wild.

Stu Murphy, Golf Club of Estrella, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my girlfriend and a father and son from Seattle.

It was 171 yards with lucky number 7 iron.

Frank Enns, Estrella Del Mar, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rod Kaasa of Edmonton and Rob Parker of Comox. The 6th hole at Estrella del Mar was playing at 106 yards over water.  It is my 5th hole-in-one on that hole. Ironically, I have now made 5 aces on that hole, from 3 different tee boxes and FIVE different clubs: Gold(9i), Blue(PW), and White(50 degree wedge, 52 degree wedge, and 56 degree wedge). This one was made with my 50 degree wedge. It landed approximately 5’ past the hole and spun back into the cup. It is my 7th ace in my life. I’m 72 years of age.

Jim Sirup, Eagle Falls Golf Course, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

My 3rd hole-in-one! We were playing at Eagle Falls, Indio, California. Our foursome included my wife Karen and also playing with us, visiting from Kansas City, were Jeff & Sharon Alton. The big moment came at hole number 9. The hole was playing 174 yards, slight uphill to an elevated green. I used a 4 hybrid. The ball landed at the front part of the green, rolled to a back pin location and… disappeared! So, so exciting!

Jenifer Jones, Sandpiper Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my very first hole-in-one ever! I played golf as a junior, but then took a 25 year hiatus to finish my degrees and get established in my career as a physiotherapist owning 3 private clinic now.

I returned to golf in 2020 during Covid as a mental health escape and realized how much I love the game! I started back in lessons, and dedicated a lot of time to my game. I have been the Women’s Club Champion at Sandpiper Golf the last 3 years in a row and log over 150 games/year.

My hole-in-one was on hole #7 at Sandpiper, a par 3. I was playing from the white tees at had 99 yards to the pin. There is a hill off to the right of the green that rolls balls to the left – I landed there and rolled left onto the green and PLOP into the hole! Maybe not the prettiest hole-in-one, but a hole-in-one non-the-less.

Alison Murdoch, Victoria Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was at Victoria Golf Club, one of the very few golf clubs open in Canada at this time of year. It was on the 13th hole, playing 117 yards that day with an 8 iron. You can see my friend Berne in this picture; I was also playing with Sunny who was the one who found the ball in the hole. It hit a tree and none of us saw where it went until Sunny took the flag out for Berne to putt. The men in the group behind us waited patiently on the tee while we took a few pictures. I guess they were happy to anticipate the hole-in-one drink they would be enjoying later.

Trish Jordan, Westbrook Village Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with some American friends who I have met at our amazing golf course community at Westbrook Village in Peoria,  AZ. They were: Jackie Boman, Dawn Prahl and Sharon Bolender. I think they were more excited than I was because they told me they had never seen a hole-in-one before.

I was playing the second hole at the Vistas Golf Course at Westbrook Village in Peoria. I am a snowbird who just retired last year and now have a bit more time to spend in Arizona.

It was a Blue pin. I estimated 125 yards. I choked up on a 7 iron (like Brook Henderson). I hit a pretty good shot but thought it might roll out and go long. But nope. It disappeared and I was like: Wow!

There is a tradition at the club that you donate your hat with the information and they post the hat on the wall of the bar in the clubhouse. So I did that too.

I have had 3 previous hole-in-ones but think this was the first in about 15 years and my first ever in the US. Not to bad for a 61 year old retiree!

Deb Harmidy, Mantarraya Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my good friend Linda Macpherson and another woman who I did not know. There was a strong headwind so I decided to use my 7 wood on the 118 yard hole #11 at Mantarraya golf course in Rio Hato, Panama. The shot felt great off the tee but with the sun in our face, we couldn’t track the ball. What a great feeling to find my ball in the cup!

Tammy Bigelow, Desert Princess, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my hole-in-one January 27th at Desert Princess in Palm Springs, CA as you already know. After recovering from tri level fusion in my back in 2019 I am so happy to be able to golf and my index is a 22 which I am proud of after such a recovery. My husband Wayne and I were playing with a friend of ours Byron and we were just about finished our round, playing Lagos 8 which is the 17th for my round, an elevated tee box and a turtle back green. I had actually just lost a ball to the water on #16 so I was deflated and I was getting tired. My husband says, “dig deep here honey” we are almost finished and you have a great round going! I grab my 6 iron so I don’t have to swing hard as I know my body is done this round. He says… “carry it 85, land it in the middle and just let it release to the pin which was a right, uphill then downhill lie approximately 118 yards”. So, I am thinking to myself, my 6 iron is too much. I go back to the cart and grab my 7 iron. It flies perfectly, lands nice and soft, I bend over to pick up my tee because I think that was good… hopefully it stays on the green when suddenly, the guys are shouting “go in the hole!” I missed most of it because I just thought they were yelling that as everyone tends to when you have a great shot, but I was happy to see it in the bottom of the cup!

Howie Cunningham, Eagle Quest Golf Course, Hole # 7

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve played golf in my earlier years not so often but in the last 2-3 years my son Aaron (24) years has gotten me into golfing seriously. We play at Eagle Quest Golf Course in Coquitlam BC. Canada. 3-4 times a week. Par 3 course, 9 hole.

We’ve got very close to hole-in-one’s but on February 19 , 2023 at 2:20 pm. I made an unbelievable tee off to receive my first hole-in-one. 81 yards on Hole #7. My son and I still can believe it today as we’re so happy.

Kyle Lagerstrom, TPC of Scottsdale, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

We were in Arizona for a golf trip for my cousins stag. This course was gorgeous, nicest course any of us had ever played. My cousin and I were paired together with two guys we met at the course, and the other 3 guys in our group were playing right behind us.

We got to hole #3 and I ranged the pin at 122 yards. Usually that would be a pitching wedge for me but the green was a little bit below the tee box so I used my Gap wedge. I struck the ball pretty good and it was heading just a little bit left of the pin. It landed about 10′ left of the pin and a few feet long. I got a nice kick to the right off of the slope of the green and it started rolling towards the pin. We got to watch it roll closer and closer to the pin until it dropped! My cousin and I looked at each other and started cheering and jumping on the tee box with the two other guys we had just met. My cousin is in the picture in the pink hat. (Not his first choice of hat but we made him wear it). I learnt that apparently when you get a hole-in-one you have to pick up the bill at the bar at the 19th hole which made for a great time. All in all made for a trip we will never forget! Couldn’t have picked a better spot to get an ace!

Brett Kury, Superstition Springs Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an awesome moment given that this was my second ace ever (my first was at Ledgeview GCC, home to Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin in May of 2018, hole #17!) and THIS time I got to actually see it roll in! At Superstition Springs GC they’ve switched the nines there, so it actually happened on the 6th hole (old 15th) 173 yards, I hit my 6 iron with a nice high draw, one big bounce then just tracked straight into the hole! A fun day to be sure and It was witnessed by three partners from Minnesota (one who now lives in Mesa, and two just visiting).

I was playing in the final round of the 11th bi-annual Toronto Gentlemen’s Golf Club Tournament (TGGC).

The TGGC has been held every other year since 2001.

The TGGC is made up of a group of people who have come to know each other
through work in the financial services industry and share a love of golf.

I was playing with Mike R., Scott F., and Jim S.

The hole was playing 136 yards, so I used an 8 iron!

Sandy Byckowski, Brampton Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

So, it was Halloween day and apparently I came dressed as a golfer that day. Our 3rd hole at Brampton was measuring 88.5 yards. I used a smooth choke 9 iron. It looked good from the start. It landed a bit in front of the pin and disappeared.

My playing partners, Pat Waite and Brenda DeCoste, broke into a run to get to the green to check it out. It is my 13th hole-in-one.

Edward Oulds, Kedron Dells Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a great feeling to finally get my first hole-in-one. I was playing with Pete and Helen who were very nice. I used a 173 yard 7 iron.

Carol Wright, Ladies’ Golf Club Of Toronto, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with three lovely women from the Ladies Golf Course. We all saw it land and roll into the hole as the 13th hole has a tee box at the top of the hill and you hit into the valley.  The pin was 110 yards and I used my trusty 6 Ping hybrid.

Tony Leblanc, The Toronto Hunt

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing as a guest of my brother Michel (Mike) LeBlanc along with his daughter Lake Martin-LeBlanc, as well as his great buddy Ken Mulgrew (ParaGolf Ontario Instructor and President).

An assist goes to Mike and Ken as I followed them off the tee. The pin was 130 yards into a very stiff wind. I took extra club and went with a firm 8 iron after they both came up well short of the green.

The ace was particularly special for two reasons.

First, we didn’t see it go in the hole, as it appeared to land and then disappear after going over the crest of a ridge running across the middle of the green. It was only when we got to the green and saw no ball that I/we got excited.

Secondly, it was my second hole-in-one in over 45 years of golfing. I was playing with Mike on both occasions which is an incredible coincidence (for most of the past 30 years we lived a good distance apart) so it was just awesome to have him there, especially since he paid for the golf!

Adil Mughal, Station Creek Golf Club

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two of my good friends: Nicholas McNeilly and Faiz Lakhani. We were also grouped with a single whose name was Zack.

We played the white tees, and the hole was exactly 135 yards. Wind was blowing into us around 10 kph. I hit a full 9 iron that had a very straight and high flight. The ball bounced about two feet behind the pin and didn’t hit the green a second time, but instead went straight to the bottom of the cup! It was a joy to watch from the tee as the ball one hopped and disappeared!

Ken Woolford, Cedar Brae

temp alt for theme iandt

It was approximately 150 yards and I used a 6 iron. My playing partners were fellow Cedar Brae members Jonathan Levitt, Tim Rooney and Barry Downs.

Bob Husband, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #14 & Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

Bob Husband got his first hole-in-one in 50 years of golfing on October 3, 2023 on the 14th hole. He followed it up with a hole-in-one the very next day on October 4, 2023 on the second hole.

Brent Borne, Lookout Point Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was quite unbelievable to say the least. The yardage was about 130 playing closer to 145 uphill into a small breeze. I used an eight iron. I was playing with three other members who took pictures and enjoyed drinks and such after.

Robert Corn, Granite Ridge Cobalt, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

Right of the green is a pond. Sand trap guarding the front of the green. Tough and intimidating hole to at least get it on the green. The pin placement on this day was front left which takes a precise shot to get it close. I had to do a reset as I just didn’t feel comfortable. Being a lefty player with a left to right draw. My aiming point was 10 yards left towards the farmer’s field. With my 9 iron I put a crisp shot on it and as I picked my head up to see the flight “please be the right club” I said. The ball was turning right towards the green bouncing on the green just left of the flag, rolled about six feet and it disappeared right into the hole. Finally! I belted out. Relief that I finally got an ace after all my 54 years of playing. Lots of high five’s.

Bob Saye, Algonquin Golf Club, Hole #12

My first ever hole-in-one happened November 2nd on the par 3 12th hole at Algonquin Golf Club in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. It was a little cool but lots of sun so not a bad day at all despite the temperature being close to 6 degrees celsius.

I played with Bob, we’re all members of Algonquin and I played with them throughout the season. The guy in the back with his hand raised is Dan Roe. In the front from left to right are; Bill Peppard, Dale Clarke, and me with the Montreal touque.

I play from the silver tees so it’s normally 132 yards. Because the hole is downhill, on this day it was playing between 115 and 120 yards with a slight breeze behind us. I used an 8 iron hoping to carry the front bunker.

Saw the trajectory of the ball and knew it was on line but none of us saw the ball land. Went to the green. It wasn’t in the front bunker or on the putting surface. I assumed it was over the green so went looking for it. Couldn’t find it so played another ball.

My playing partners had already finished up. They didn’t sink their putts but were close enough to pick up, so no one actually looked in the hole and we hadn’t taken the flag out. One of my playing partners, Dale Clarke, was standing close to the hole and was waiting for me to putt. He happened to look in the hole and said, “There’s a ball in the hole.” Turned out it was mine. If I had putted and had a “gimme” for my next one, we could have walked off the green without ever knowing my tee shot was actually in the hole. A nice surprise to say the least.

I’m not the best golfer so as an added bonus I broke 100 on the round and shot 96. I know, not a big deal for most golfers but it is for me. A good way to end the season.

Peter Cavin, Wailea Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son Andrew Cavin and two locals Brandon and Brock.

The 10th hole was playing 151 yards and I hit a 7 iron. I couldn’t see the ball once it landed as the green was uphill from the tee box.

Shot looked good but as we drove up to the green, we couldn’t see my ball and I thought I must have hit it long. I walked towards the back of the green to look for the ball in the rough. My son decided to walk to the cup and he started yelling. He found the ball in the hole. Still was such a great feeling even though I didn’t see it go in. It was my first hole-in-one after 40 something years of golf.

Mark Merlau, Otter Creek Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friend, Steve Locky when I recorded the second hole-in-one of my career. Anyone who plays this par 3 knows how much of a brute it can be! It is almost impossible to stop the ball on the green and everything tends to roll off the back. Needless to say, I haven’t had much luck on this hole before.

The hole was playing 169 yards into a slight headwind, so I decided to choke up and hit my 18 degree hybrid. The shot came off the club perfectly and headed straight towards the pin. Although I didn’t see the ball go into the hole, it was still a surreal feeling to find it in there! What a great way to end the season!

I hit a beautiful 6 iron on the par 3 165 yard 11th hole. The course was White Bear in Saskatchewan.

Richard Edwards, Silver Creek Golf Course -North/West, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife Irene and we were on the 4th hole of the North course from the white tees and is 141 yards. It is funny because as I walked onto the tee box Irene and I were joking with each other and I said “Ok. Hole-in-one hole”. I played a 9 iron which is my 150 yard club and it fitted well as there was a breeze coming straight into us. I got a clean strike, and it was on a great line. I started doing the head bob looking at the ball and at the pin then back to the ball and so on. It landed, took a bounce, a roll and disappeared.

My brain took a moment trying to understand where the ball had gone before I realized, and my wife started yelling, “oh my goodness, you called it!” I got to the green and the pitch mark was about four feet from the hole. One of the green keepers came running out and told me to go buy a lottery ticket (I did and that failed).

In true form my wife tried to show me how easy a hole-in-one is and on the same round at the 12th hole (the West #3) she hit the pin and finished a few feet away! I may have muttered words to the effect of, “Couldn’t let me have the day to myself.”

A once in a lifetime thing no doubt but having the right person there with me made it better.

Kathleen Houghton, Oyster Reef

I played with my husband, Sid Dickinson, and Rick and Cheryl Field, all from Ontario.

I used a seven iron for 123 yards.

Jeff Macks, Markham Green Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The big news here is that it was my first ever hole-in-one. I have played golf since my late teens and am now 72. I had almost given up hope that it would ever happen but it goes to show you are never too old and it’s not too late for magic to happen.

As far as the actual shot it was not a pretty or amazing shot, I’m sorry to say, which you’ll see below. I am a 15 handicap so not a bad golfer but the closest I’ve ever come before was maybe two or three feet. On that day I was playing with a good friend and got paired with two other guys. Hole #3 at Markham was about 125 yards to the pin from the whites for that round. You hit over some long grass and a small stream to a very small, back to front tilted, fast green. We hate that green! If you are not below the hole, you have no chance to stop a downhill putt even from a few feet away.

I hit the ball slightly off the heel with my 8 iron, it went left, hit the side of the fringe with a lot of spin and proceeded across the green, hit the flag and in. If not for the pin it would have ended up 20 feet away off the green due to the slope. Pure skill – NOT Pure Lluck – YES! But I will take it.

Dawn-Marie Hunter Sharp, Superstition Springs Golf Club

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my family David Hunter, Susan and Andy Bilinski. The yardage was 117, I usually use my 8 iron for that distance but the green has a super high elevation so I clubbed up two clubs to my six.

Marlene Proc, The Vancouver Golf Club, Hole #3

On the 11th month, of the 11th day, of the 11th hour, just as the horn blew from the clubhouse to begin the Saturday shotgun, I took out my 8 iron and hit my first shot of the day on hole #3 at Vancouver Golf Club. I was blinded by the sun trying to break through and did not see the shot.

My playing partner, Marnie, commented that it looked right on line with the pin. We heard it hit the pin hard and saw something recoiling back towards the front puddle of standing water that was on the green. It was a 112 yard shot with a front red pin. Not that I measured that day.

Upon walking down towards the green, we commented on the position of what we thought was the ball, but what we spotted was actually a leaf with the ball nowhere in site. As I walked up to the flag, with putter in hand, there was the ball sitting peacefully at the bottom of the cup. What a way to start the round and to connect to Remembrance Day!

The rest of the game was pretty solid and ended with a score of 79. Now, if I could
only score so well during the golf season!

This event marks my third hole-in-one although my first at the Vancouver Golf Club.

My first hole-in-one. Great way to end the season. It was our last day before Pine Ridge closed. I was with my friends Colette, Allayne and Anne. Par 3. White flag, tucked in the gully. 116 yards. 9 iron.

Richard Bennett, Avon Valley Golf & Country Club

I was playing with friends Mark, Brandon and Dudley and used a 7 iron from 136. Don’t judge, it’s severely uphill and was into heavy wind! I’ve been playing for over 20 years and it’s the first I’ve even seen.

Daniel Bruce, Poppy Estate Golf Club, Hole #5

Have had the pleasure of joining a great group of guys. It’s the “Norm’s” group. Norm Trudel and Norm Seifried are the coordinators of our club. We have sometimes, up to 24 guys playing. This day we had 12, and in our group there was Billy, Norm T, Todd and me.

The 5th hole at Poppy Estates is a tough one. From the whites it usually plays around 190 yards and 205 from the blues. November 11th it was playing 183 yards (red flag) from the whites. Until that day I had never been on #5 in regulation. There is a small water hazard about 15 yards before the green and water to the left and right. It’s a tough hole. We usually play from the blues but it was cold and wet, so we decided to play from the whites. I used a 5 iron and aimed to the right a bit because I can sometimes pull my 5 iron. I pured it, with a bit of my usual pull, and it landed pass the pin (two yards) and to the right. I had thought it landed and rolled forward and hid behind the pin. Billy said it went in but I didn’t believe him. The remaining guys hit their shots and we proceeded to the green. As we got closer it was clear it wasn’t hiding behind the pin, but I didn’t get my hopes up. Billy got out his phone to record my reaction. As I got up to the hole, I slowly approached from the opposite side of where it would have entered. At first, I didn’t see it and then boom, it hit me, there is was. My Callaway 4 Hex Tour with my happy face marking looking straight up at me.

It was euphoric. Huge hugs and high five’s, lots of screaming and cheering. At the end of the round, we stopped for a bite and a drink. We had a few to many shots on the course so we didn’t get into it at the clubhouse. Billy presented a trophy #1 that he had made and brings to every round just in case someone gets an ace.
It was a great day and look forward to many with this great group.

I was in Arizona for the MJT Nationals which was held at the Wigwam golf and country club. After the tournament, my family and I stayed a couple extra days in Scottsdale. My dad and I decided to play our last round at the Starfire golf club. On the last hole of the day #9 which plays 230 yards. Back pin playing almost 240 yards I hit driver and it curled in for a hole-in-one. I was super excited to end the year with a hole-in-one. Thanks.

I have aced the 6th hole at Elmira Golf Course in Ontario twice in the last four years. The first time was Aug. 21, 2020, and the second was June 20th, 2022. I did not see the first one go in, but I did see the second. One member of my regular playing group witnessed both. Not bad seeing as I am 88 years old.

Dexter John, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Hole #14

I was playing a round at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. It was a shotgun start 730 am. We started on hole #12. Did not have a lot of warm up so the first hole was not particularly great. We come upon hole 14 an par 3 168 yard protected by water in the front faces our group. One of the men teed off first and hit a perfect shot landing on the green. I tee my ball up and just take a deep breath as I just wanted for the ball to not go into the water. I pulled out my 6 iron to guarantee distance and hit a high lofting shot I landed squarely on the green and start to roll in the direction of the flag. I had already started to kick up my tee and return my club when I hear the group screaming that the ball is going to go in the home. When I look up the ball is gone, and they are telling me it went in. Of course the screaming and hollering commenced but it did not sink in until I saw the ball in the hole. I was ecstatic and overwhelmed with joy. Could not wipe the smile off my face all day. The club gave me a certificate and now my name is on the wall with all the other individuals that have played there and got a hole-in-one.

I was playing at Beverly Golf & Country Club and I had two members playing at that time, Jeff Dolan and Mark Flippance. It was hole #7, 153 yards to the pin, I used a 7 iron!

It was a cool morning so there weren’t many other around. The pin was front right, tee shot bounced once and rolled five or six feet into the cup! Cheering and high fives followed!

Brian MacPhee, Duncan Meadows Golf Club, Hole #16

Yesterday was our annual Tombstone Challenge for the Duncan Meadows Membership, which also doubles as our Halloween event. Our regular threesome of three retired Royal Canadian Navy Chief Petty Officers, Paul McCoy, Mark Chambers and I played as a threesome for the event. Mark and I decided to get into the Halloween spirit and dressed up as two of the three Hanson Brothers from the classic movie Slap Shot. Mark was Jack Hanson #16 and I was Steve #17. Wigs were worn due to both of us being follicly-challenged.

Hole #16 is short par three that plays slightly downhill. The white tees were up and the pin was on the front of the green. I have been informed by my playing partners that the yardage was 137. I am not a big hitter so it was an 8 iron for me.

The ball (a bright red Titleist which was part of a sleeve of previously used balls provided for tournament participants) flew pretty well off of my 8 iron, especially considering that alcohol had been consumed for 15 prior holes. I did say it was a fun tournament! The ball bounced on the front of the green twice and took the slight bend to the right and disappeared. Nobody was more surprised than I was and everyone participating in the tournament heard the celebration and knew what it meant. It all felt surreal!

Anyway, I thought that hole-in-one insurance was a waste of money for me, but it took a bit of the sting out of bar bill. On another note, don’t get a hole-in-one when the majority of your members are playing in a tournament!

I was playing alongside my golf buddies Gavin Liddy and Ted McKay. I had the good fortune of a hole-in-one on the 12th hole of the Hylands Golf Club North course in Ottawa, Ontario. I was playing on senior men’s day. Interesting format called the three-club challenge (18 holes with three clubs and a putter). My selection was a 3 wood, 6 iron and a wedge. It was witnessed by my playing partners Glen Johnson, Harv Grummett and Neil Crane plus four others standing on the next hole.

I have played golf for 50 years and this was my first hole-in-one. Think it may have had something to do with me wearing my lucky Edmonton Oilers hat.

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the 7th hole of Fox Meadow in Prince Edward Island. It was playing 122 yards from the white tees. I used a 7 iron and a Titliest Pro V1 ball. I hit it straight at the pin and it bounced first on the fringe then ran up to the pin and in. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was in the hole or if there was a drop in the green and we just didn’t see it. I was playing with my wife and two young lads we were paired up with that were from Charlottetown. I turned to the two lads, and they enthusiastically said, “It’s in, it’s in.” Of course, my wife wasn’t paying attention and missed it. The one lad had already texted a friend of his by the time I turned around to them, who got a hole-in-one two weeks prior on the same hole and he told the lad to welcome me to the club. It was great, but they insisted on buying me a beer as a welcome to P.E.I. and as congratulations.

It was on Saturday, October 7th and I was playing with another member, Mickey Trader, from our “Happy Gang” group. I was not having a very good game that day until I got to the 17th hole. Our club professional Victor Batiste haedppen to be at that hole doing a contest – pay $5.00 and get three tickets for a draw. We had to beat the pro on the first shot to qualify. The only stipulation was that he had to use the club of my choosing with the exception of a putter. I got up to the tee off spot, the yardage was 107 yards so I chose my pitching wedge. As luck would have it, when I teed off, I hit the green about three or four yards from the hole and nicely rolled in for the ace.

I started playing golf at the age of 53 at the Roberts Creek Golf Course and was thoroughly fascinated with the game. My wife and I moved to Osoyoos in 2014 and I joined the Nk’Mip Desert Canyon Golf Course. I belong to a group of seniors known as the “Happy Gang” who play twice a week. I’m now 81 years of age so this was a very memorable feat for me to accomplish.

We were playing as a fivesome since there was 13 of us in total playing in an over 55 mini tournament. We started on the third hole and my first swing of the day with a 7 iron from 160 found the bottom of the cup. We weren’t sure if it had gone in since the green slopes away, but it disappeared, so I was hopeful. This was at La Broquirie golf course.

Last senior men’s tournament of the season was cloudy, chill of fall in the air, brisk breeze, hole #4 at the Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna, B.C. Jayla Kucy, Big Sky Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first round of our tournament.  I was playing with Abbi Beld and Olivia Chappell and we started on the front 9. After 9 holes, I was playing well (sitting at -1). As we started the back nine, we could see that there were rain showers in the distance making its way down the hills. We finished the 10th hole and noticed the rain showers were getting closer. On hole #13 the rain is pouring, and we have to wait in the rain. Hole #13 is par 3, 152 yards. I took a 7 iron because the rain was coming down and I needed to get the ball to the green. The flag is on the right middle part of the green, with a downhill slope to the flag from behind the flag. After a lengthy wait on the tee box in the pouring rain, I teed off and hit a solid 7 iron shot that tracked over the flag and hit about eight feet directly over the flag on the slope. As it hit the green, it rolled back down the slope and dropped into the cup.

My dad was standing by the green and started to jump and cheer that the ball went in. I was so happy! My two brothers have multiple holes-in-one, and I was the only child left in the family with zero. Now I got one, those were my first thoughts!

Jeff Guilbeault, Kawartha Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I have been golfing for 40 years and never thought I would get a hole-in-one and then it happened! On October 12, 2023, I was golfing with my regular Blind Partner League colleagues, John Pinnegar and Clete Pineau.  I was teeing off on hole #14 at the Kawartha Golf Club in Peterborough, Ontario. The hole is a par 3, 132 yards and you tee off to an elevated green that severely slopes from back to front, so much so that the pin is always at the back of the green. There was a stiff wind in our face, so I clubbed up to a 5 hybrid and hit a solid tee shot right at the pin. We couldn’t see it land so I thought I would be at the back of the green. As we approached the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen until John looked in the hole and there it was. Lucky for me it was a slow day at the course and the beer tab was not too bad! In addition, I also broke 80 for the first time on my home course shooting 79 thanks in part to the hole-in-one!

I got it with three others playing with me. It was towards the end of the round and nearing the end of the day. We had 138 yards to the pin, in which I hit a 9 iron with a slight draw. It hit about two feet below and right of the cup and took one hop and went in the hole! This is my second hole-in-one ever, I had my first one last year so that makes for back-to-back seasons!

Pretty excited as in the past two seasons I’ve gone from a 12.7 handicap down to a 4.7 with a lot of practice and hard work!

It was another beautiful September morning at Springbank Links where my wife and I are members. The course is beautiful and in fantastic condition with quick greens and lots of trouble on the front nine with what’s called the Devils Triad, holes five, six and seven are some of the toughest holes to attack at Springbank links.

We are playing the blue tees at 6,400 yards and the fifth hole par 3 is 154 yards with no wind and the sun shining. I hit an 8 iron fairly well just after watching my buddy Tony roll his ball within five feet of the hole and likely the snip for today. My golf ball had the perfect bounce and roll but Tony thought he would help by coaxing it into the hole, all I heard was him saying, “keep going, keep going” until the ball disappeared into the hole.

That’s my third hole-in-one and second on this hole, my first was on the 16th hole at Springbank Links and also talked into the hole by my buddy Tony. The snips boys were happy to get a free beverage but not so happy on the payout.

I got my first ever hole-in-one this past Thursday at Kingswood Golf Course. The weather was a bit cold, feeling around 11 degrees. My playing partners were Peter Birney, Serge Boucher and Pierre Castonguay. It was hole #7, back pin, playing about 155 yards. I used an 8 iron. It landed about 15 feet before the pin and rolled up nicely until it disappeared into the cup. What a feeling! I think my playing partners were more excited than I was. temp alt for theme iandt

It was an 11:51 tee time on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Shaganappi Point in Calgary. I was playing with my good friend Billy Dixon and our round started great. It was about 9 degrees and we were out as a twosome. I was sitting five over after two holes walking on to the tee box of hole #3. My rangefinder said 127 yards adjusted to 124 and there was a slight wind behind us. Since it was a bit cold, I pulled one extra club and decided to hit a smooth 9 iron. I tend to cut my irons a bit so with a front right pin placement I took aim at the center of the green. I put a nice smooth full swing on it, and it immediately looked pretty good. It was right at the center of the green and fading right towards the hole. As soon as it landed it tracked towards the hole. Billy said, “That line looks right on.” I was frozen on the ball rolling towards the hole fully expecting to see it slide past the hole but as it came in line, we watched it drop in the hole. I flung my club to the ground.

I turned towards Billy absolutely gob smacked to what I’d just seen. I stepped toward him and attempted a hug, but my excitement told me to run around the tee box twice hollering uncontrollably. A minute later once I had regained some type of composure and decompressed myself with a profanity laced hyperactive celebration, Billy took the tee box and proceeded to hit his ball on a very similar line. Billy doesn’t cut the ball like I do so when it hit the upslope mid-green and started to backspin and roll towards the hole for a second we thought we might be on the precipice of something inconceivable. Could it be, back-to-back aces? Billy’s ball was tracking perfectly but unfortunately came up a little over a foot short. Two amazing shots and an amazing moment. I started filming myself on my phone as we left the tee box as I wanted to freeze the moment in time so I could relive it as much as I could stand. As we pulled up in front of the green on the cart, I ran over to the hole giddy with excitement and when I got to the hole and saw the TaylorMade 3 ball in the cup I went bonkers all over again. A neighbouring group heard me screaming in celebration and they asked if I had got a hole-in-one. I couldn’t help but want to share my news with anyone who’d listen. As I walked a few steps back, I turned back to the hole and filmed Billy make a 15” putt for birdie. He gave me a hug and we walked off to the cart.

It was a hot day in Kelowna and all of us were struggling a bit in the heat. None of us had played the course before (my partner Peter Lantin and his two cousins, Cliff Fregin and Willis Parnell). Cliff had just moved to Kelowna and the rest of us came to visit and have a fun weekend of golf. It was the 11th hole. I was the last to hit and everyone else was safely on the green. It was 115 yards par 3, downhill. I hit an 8 iron perfectly, low trajectory and straight, knowing I wanted to hit it short and run it towards the hole. My partner, Peter, who is a part-time sports broadcaster, called it. “Ooh looks good!”, as it hit the green, released towards the hole, and dropped in. We all cheered! Sure glad I got to share the experience with this group, as I feel I was a bit stunned, maybe it was the heat but I’ve never hit a hole-in-one and only now understand how rare it is. I’ve only been playing golf for the last few years as I picked it up during covid times. Of course, I am now fully addicted to the sport!

Funny thing was, I had found the ball a few holes earlier and thought this could be my lucky ball to play on a Kelowna course. It was a Srixon ball that had a custom Ogopogo logo stamped on it.

Michael Waters, Fergus Golf and Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The white tee box was moved forward to accommodate repairs on the normal tee area. One of the guys scoped the yardage at approximately 142. I used a 9 iron with a gentle breeze at our backs. The ball had a high trajectory that landed near the front of the green and released toward the hole and dropped in the hole.

The other golfers who witnessed the hole-in-one were Jason Howson, Jeremy Hamilton and Dave Oxford. Afterwards, Dave Oxford went into the pro shop and informed the counter staff that I had achieved a hole-in-one. They were so nice to me. A picture was taken with me holding a flag with a Fergus logo on the flag, which I have put away as a keepsake. Also, I received a complimentary beer from a sponsoring beer company.

Mike McCaffrey, Conestoga Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was 110 yards and I used a gap wedge.

I was playing with my friends Derrick MacDonald and Brian Shaw.

Mike Nystedt, Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #17 at the Sault Golf Club, where I’m a long-time member. It was 183 yards to the pin that day, hit 6 iron, ball never left the flag, no one in my group could see it go in but we heard it hit the flag stick. It was exciting to walk up and find it in the hole. I was playing with good friends, Paul Robb, Carl Berkenbosch and David Baldwin.

Murray Markle, Sun City North Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The pin was set at 142 yards on the day of my hole-in-one achievement. I used a Ping G425 6 iron and a TaylorMade golf ball. The greens were very slow that day due to recent overseeding and the pin was at the back of the green. Normally, my shot would have rolled off the back of the green, but it slowed down enough to roll up and fall in the hole. I wasn’t sure at first, but when we walked up to the green, there it was in the bottom of the cup.  It was men’s day at our club, and I didn’t bother to throw a quarter in the hole-in-one pot so I missed out on collecting the 80 bucks that was in the pot. I was playing with Mike Robert, Dan Schroeder and Tom Bellinger. This was my second ace in my golfing life, the first being six years ago at another sun city course.

Nancy Shaver, Hautes Plaines, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was scored on hole #7 at Club de Golf Hautes Plaines in Gatineau. It’s listed as 125 yards from the red tees, but I think it was playing around 110 that day. I used an 8 iron. My playing partners were Margo Allore, Lori Blencowe and Francie Ducros.

Norma Poel, Settlers Ghost, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing Settlers Ghost, and we were on the 16th hole nearing the end. It was a warm day, getting tired and just hoping to be done and on to the patio. In a hurry, I grabbed a 7 iron and thought it was too much club but didn’t go back for another. Stepped up and hit it 108 yards, and we saw it hit and roll right in. My first one, after golfing for 40-plus years. We enjoyed buying the round of drinks for the few folks on the patio and our fellow playing partners.

Paul Senyshyn, Rideau View Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

On October 19th, 2023, I was playing with Ken Kratz, Robert Kucher and Rolf Boehme. The yardage that day was 139 yards, and I used an 8 iron.

Riley McNab, Shannon Lake Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was just a normal day, getting out on the course after work. I was playing with two of my co-workers. It was the 4th hole at Shannon Lake golf course. I hit my 7 iron for the 182 yard hole. I lost sight of it immediately cause of the overcast conditions. My one co-worker was convinced it went in the bunker behind the green while my other coworker was persistent that it had gone in the hole. As we walked up to the green, I had high hopes that it was indeed in the hole. I checked the bunker first just to confirm it wasn’t there. I then walked up to the hole and peaked over and saw my ball. I can say for sure that there is no greater feeling than seeing your ball in the cup.

Scott MacKinnon, Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Was playing 169 or so downhill into a very normal wind against us. I was with my two buddies, Tracy and Dave. I hit a 6 iron, probably one of the best golf shots in my life. The ball went straight as an arrow towards the pin, bounced a few times and rolled in. Was pretty neat.

Shawn Spicer, Serenity Golf Club – Dancing Bull, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 205 yards with a 7 iron.

Terry Carlisle, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the par 3 7th hole at Fairview Mountain in Oliver, British Columbia. The hole was playing 171 yards from the blue tees I used a 7 iron.

Tess Trojan, Port Royal Plantation Robber’s Row Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

Originally, I selected a pitching wedge but my dad pointed out the pin was at the back of the green. We thought it was tracking but couldn’t tell it was straight into the sun. I was blown away when I saw it in the cup.

Timothy Tan, Caughnawaga Golf Club – Yellow, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a crisp autumn day. I was playing with my good friends Jean Laflamme, Donna Laflamme and Maria Baptista. The sixth hole is a beautiful par 3 with an island green. The shot was about 110 yards into the wind, with a 9 iron. The ball took a small hop and disappeared into the hole. It’s my second ace, 25 years after the first one. What a great way to finish the season!

Todd Burdon, Eagles Nest Golf Club, Hole #8

Cheryl Sellers, Sunnydale Golf, Hole #15

A hole in one - say what? It happened on the closing night at Sunnydale's Thursday night ladies on the 136 yard hole 15. With the mixed sun and shady spots (and a red ball), we lost sight of the ball near the pin and did not see the ball go into the hole. Reaching the green, we could not see the ball and after searching the nearby bunkers, I looked into the hole and there it was! My first ever hole in one. It was a fantastic ending to the season.

Karen Raposo, Selkirk Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

I made a hole-in-one today at Selkirk Golf & Country Club! The back blue pin on hole #7 and I used a 3 wood. I reported it to Mike Hill in the proshop and witnessed by Brent Kurbis!

Amos Robinson, Oaks Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 194 yards and I hit a 4 iron. I was golfing with my wife.

Andy Brown, Homestead at Wolf Ridge, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I am still buzzing after that day. I’ve been golfing for 30 years and that was my first! My partners that day were Elton Neuman and Lloyd Peters, it was a cool Fall day and the 11th was playing 159 yards into the wind. I took a 7 iron and have to admit, I flushed it. The green is tiered so unfortunately, I didn’t see it go in, I thought it had run through the green but Elton said to look in the hole, and there it was! I’m not sure what was more exciting, the hole-in-one or the fact that I was with these two great friends when it happened.

Andrew Bouchat, Belleview Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

September 24, 2023 was a mild fall day with blustery winds. I was playing with two friends and having a decent round. The shot on the 11th hole was slightly left of the pin and based on the ball mark, landed three yards from the hole – bounced once and ran towards the cup and disappeared. The three of us thought it was behind the cup. As I walked off the tee, I could see that there was no ball on the green; raised my arms and said, “It went in.” loud enough, that my wife Claire, who also has two holes-in-one, and was putting on the 10th green, heard the excitement. I shot 76 and told the Golf Course Manager (Josh) who sent a notification to the Membership via Facebook. After 50 years with no aces, I now have two this year!

Arjun Punthambekar, Don Valley Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I headed to the course as a single and was joined by a twosome and another single. It was an ordinary round until hole #7, a 165 yard par 3, and the pin was placed in the front.

It was an 8 iron that I made good contact and saw it shaping towards the hole and bounce on the green. It looked like it popped into the hole but I couldn’t believe it, and told one of my playing partners that it might be behind the flag.

But he was certain, and sure enough when we went to the green it was in the hole, can’t quite describe the feeling.

Cecil Chung, The Quarry Golf Course, Hole #6

That day, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, my playing partners were Don Descotes and Lewis Murray, who are also members at The Quarry and with whom I golf regularly. It was hole #6 on Slate. It measured 138 yards into a slight breeze and I used a 7 iron.

Cory Reierson, Mount Paul Golf, Hole #5

It was my second-ever ace on a 94-yard hole. I used a 60-degree wedge.

Dennis Small, Peninsula Lakes Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

We were playing the final round of our Men’s League season at Peninsula Lakes Golf Club. The format for the day was a shotgun start with a five-man best ball. My playing partners were David Drosky, Kevin Shaw, Fred Ciszek and Brad Splawinski. We were on the 130 yard par three 8th hole on the Orchard 9. It was late in the afternoon, and we were playing into the sun which made it difficult to see the balls land. When we got to the green the other guys all found their balls but mine was nowhere to be seen. Kevin suggested that maybe it was in the hole. Surprise! That’s where we found it. My very first hole-in-one.

Ernie Lascelles, Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My first was 10 years ago in Florida. That time the hole was on the backside of a mound, so we didn’t see it go in. This time was extra special because I was playing with my two sons and a very good friend, and we saw the ball actually go in the hole. According to my son’s rangefinder the flag was 124 yards from the tee, and I used an 8 iron.

Franklin Lee, Wildstone Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my very first hole-in-one. I couldn’t have picked a better time for it to happen. It was during an annual trip with a number of buddies which is named the Fanatic’s Tour. This trip has been going on for 37 years in one form or another and this was the first ace in its history. For the past number of years, the tour has been played for five days in the Kimberley/Cranbrook area and the group has grown in size to 20 to 24 guys from Edmonton, A.B. and Victoria, B.C. This year we had one buddy come in from Ireland to play for the first time. He couldn’t stop talking about the amazing scenery and courses here he’s never experienced anything like it back home.

My hole-in-one was on Thursday. Sept 14th which was day one of the Ryder Cup. It was on hole #12 at Wildstone in Cranbrook. It’s kind of an island green playing about 120 yards and I used my 9 iron. I hit it clean and saw it hit the green and then it disappeared. I didn’t see it go in, but my buddies Jim, Bill and Boyd all yelled, “It’s in the hole!” It wasn’t until I walked over the bridge onto the green and looked into the hole that I believed it. I can’t describe my feeling as I picked it out. I don’t think my smile left my face for the rest of the trip. All 24 of us plus a few more new friends we met in the clubhouse celebrated with a toast afterwards. It was a good bar tab but well worth it! The group at Wildstone was kind enough to present me with a flag in recognition of the accomplishment and it’s something I’ll treasure forever.

George Stokes, Deerridge Golf, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

As a member at Deerridge Golf in Kitchener, I aced the 16th hole on Friday and five days later I aced the 4th hole. I finally aced all four par threes at Deerridge which has been done by only one other member. By the way, my ace on Wednesday was my 14th. I am 81 years of age.

Gregg Fabris, Idylwylde Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

Definitively a special moment that I was fortunate enough to share with my Dad, old high school friend and his father. The hole was playing 185 into the wind with a middle pin placement. Hit a 6 iron about four feet short, hopped once and rolled straight in. Great way to end the golf season here in Northern Ontario.

Jeff Derbyshire, Moncton Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Sunday’s hole-in-one was my single greatest achievement. Hole #17 at Moncton golf course is uphill so we couldn’t see it go in from the tee. I was playing with my friends and colleagues Andrew Jones and Jason Crane. It was 140 yards, cold, breezy, back pin with an 8 iron. Perfection.

Jeff Diduck, Country Hills Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my first career hole-in-one on Thanksgiving; Monday, October 9th, 2023. My group of Scott Secord, Ian Secord and Tyler Foster of Country Hills Golf Club in Calgary had the first tee time on our Ridge course. No frost delay today and it got hot in a hurry. The round didn’t start off very well as I had a double bogey followed by a bogey, so my expectations for the rest of the round were pretty low at that point.

We made our way around the front nine and I was able to keep it somewhat respectable. We had a little game going with Tyler and myself getting beat up pretty good by Ian and Scott. So, Tyler and I had a little pep talk at the halfway house. We knew we needed to get some birdies going if we were going to have any chance. We headed down to the 10th hole. A par 3 playing 184 yards that day. However, just as we made our way to the tee, the wind started to pick up. I was a little behind getting to the tee as I watched from a distance, Scott and Ian hit their shots onto the green. When I finally pulled my bag up to the tee Tyler was just getting ready to hit. I asked the guys about distance and started doing some quick calculations to figure out what club I was going to hit. 184 yards is a stock 7 iron for me but as I mentioned, the wind was starting to blow. The gusts were pretty strong and I wasn’t confident in a 6 iron being enough club. I grabbed my 5 iron and decided to choke down on it, take some off and keep it down under the wind.

I hit it perfectly! The ball came off the club just as I had hoped and never left the flagstick! As I held my finish, we all watched that ball take one bounce short of the hole and then disappear.

The guys behind me went crazy and it took me a second to actually let myself believe that it went in, as I’ve had years of close calls and disappointments.

It took me about two holes after that ball went in to get my heart rate back to normal. But I was able to follow up the ace with a birdie on the par 5 11th, so that was sweet!

Kathy Foster, Picton Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 116 yards with a 7 wood.

Marva Opperman, Glacier Greens Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

On Thursday, I was playing with my friends, Yvonne Higgs and June Fraser and we were on the 17th hole. My goal was to hit high and hope to place it well on the green. I was using my 5 hybrid. My ball flew high and I watched it land on the green, then roll into the hole, 135 yards, and I couldn’t believe it. I think we were all in disbelief. We had to walk up and check for sure and let it sink in. I think Yvonne was more excited than I, until it sunk in.

Mike Cameron, Avondale Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother, John Cameron. Hole #8, from the senior tees is 110 yards, uphill and I used a 9 iron. Besides my brother John, the shot was witnessed by two gentlemen I did not know, who were getting ready to tee off from the white tees on hole #8.

Piercen Hunt, Colombia’s Esteban Restrepo, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Piercen Hunt made his first career hole-in-one. Pitching wedge from 134 yards/123 meters on the par 3 fourth hole. It was the first WATC ace since the final round of the 2018 championship (Colombia’s Esteban Restrepo, 7th hole).

Rick Ferguson, Willow Valley Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my fifth hole-in-one. It was 115 yards and I used a pitching wedge.

Ron Kulperger, Oaks of St. George Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother Len Kulperger, and fellow members Dan Demurak and Dwayne McDonald. The hole was set up short that day at about 70 yards. I used my sand wedge. My fifth ace, but my first at my home club. A truly tremendous feeling.

Sandra Culp, Nanton Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with two ladies from my ladies’ league, Lee and Charlene. It’s a par 3 and 145 yards. The pin was back and to the left of the center. I used my 5 wood and I hit it long and to the right of the pin, hit the green and it curved down about six feet into the hole.

Scott Warren, Cottonwood Coulee Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my third career hole-in-one. Ironically my first came in June of ’94 also at Cottonwood Coulee in Medicine Hat, Alberta on the 16th hole. But since that time the 9’s have been reversed and that is now the 7th hole. On Sunday I aced the 16th while playing with Dan Pede and Kevin Conrad. It was the first time I played the course in six years and the 16th usually gives me a lot of problems. On this day things would be different. I struck a 6 hybrid perfectly, the ball hit before the ridge, then trickled over and filtered down to the pin which was in a tough back right location. Right away I thought it had a chance but we couldn’t see it go in because the pin was tucked in behind that ridge. As we walked toward the green the group on the 17th tee offered congratulations as at least one of them saw it go in from their vantage point. Dan walked toward the hole pointed down then gave me a thumbs up.

My three aces have all been on the 16th hole. The first was in ’94 as previously mentioned, the second was in August of ’14 on the 16th at Riverview Golf Club and then the one on Sunday.

Sheldon Kitzul, Prairie Lake Lodge, Hole #6

Sheldon Warner, King’s Riding Golf Club, Hole #12

Tony Lye, Bally Haly Country Club – North, Hole #2

I was playing with my wife Cindy and two friends, Scott and Bob. I hit a nine iron to 131 yards on hole #2 on the Bally Haly North Course to record my hole-in-one. The wind was blowing a little to the right that day and Bob just hit a nice shot left of the hole. I said to Bob I was going to use his ball as a target. My ball went right over Bob’s and just found its way to nestle in the hole. It was a fantastic experience made that much better to have my wife, Cindy, with me. I believe Scott was more excited when I got mine then he was when he recorded his own a couple years earlier.

Troy Yuzik, Willow Park Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 168 yards with a 7 iron.

Val Mieras, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with friends and we all saw the ball fly over the pond and roll into the hole. Since we started on the back, this 8 iron was the first shot of the day.

William Sparks, Savannah Golf Links, Hole #3

On September 19, 2023, I enjoyed scoring my very first, hole-in-one at Savannah Golf Links, in Cambridge, Ontario. On the par 3 hole #3, playing 104 yards, I scored the ace with an 8 iron.

On October 3rd (14 days later), playing at Savannah Golf Links, I scored my second ever on the very same hole. On this date the hole was playing 106 yards. 8 iron again.

I have witnesses for both dates. I have trophies now, marking these awesome dates.

I was with my two golf friends Kevin and Adam and because we were cheering so loud the cart kid and Marshall were there to witness the ball in the cup.

Theresa Bodell, The Glencoe Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

It was pretty exciting! I was playing with my usual Friday group, my husband and another couple who are close friends. We have been playing every Friday in the summer for the past 15+ years. But that day, the lady friend was not feeling well and cancelled herself out. It was Rod Bodell, Gerry Scott and I. I used a 7 iron. The distance was 125 yards with a red pin placement.

p> The funny story behind that is my good husband was truly excited for me, however, he jokingly admitted that he was jealous! That was my fourth hole-in-one, and thank goodness, he has gotten only one a few years back!

Bill Lutes, Brooks Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m 71 years old and have been playing since I was 14. My first hole-in-one!

It was a breezy fall day. Wind out of the south at about 25km. Our 8th hole is a par 3 that can play anywhere from 120 yards to 160. That day playing 130 into the wind. I went for a 9 iron but it was not going to be enough, so I went to the 8 and tried to bunt one in low. I’d love to tell you I hit a magnificent high cut but the reality is “thin to win”. It was lower than I wanted but a decent shot that never left the flag and when it hit in front and started to roll it looked pretty good. When it got to the flag and disappeared, I turned to my brother and asked, “Did that just go in?” When he confirmed it had I gave it a “Ya baby!” I was playing that day with my brother, Allen Lutes, and a couple of pals, Rod Swenson and Ken Bain. Nice to have the foursome and everyone saw it go in. I have been oh so close many times but never had one drop until now.

Bob LeBlanc, River Oaks Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

When we got to the 5th tee box, I was hitting second.

The pin lasered at 152 yards, and the green has a heavy slope right to left. Ideally, any shot is played towards the upper third of the green, and the slope will carry it down as it rolls out.

One of my playing partners, Jeff Tofflemire, had the honours, and we watched his shot go a little bit long.

I had taken a 7 iron out of the bag, and after seeing Jeff’s shot go long, I went back to the bag and down to an 8 iron. We couldn’t feel the breeze on the tee, but it was obviously there.

We watched the ball come down on the green, hop and check and then hop and check the second time. Then we couldn’t see it roll out! The evening sun had the green surface in a sheen, making it impossible to follow the roll out.

Jeff said, “I think that went in the hole!” None of us could be sure, though. The fifth plays over a gully and little pond, so driving down into the gully, I could see a white spot on the back of the green and shouted back to Wayne and Jeff that the ball must have rolled past that I could see it. I grabbed my putter when I got out of the cart and headed to the green. The white spot turned out to be a leaf glistening in the sun and no sign of my ball! I stood there and looked all around the edge of the green and still couldn’t see my ball so I took another step ahead and peered into the hole and there it was! Lodged between the front of the cup and the pin!

It was a very surreal moment. Jeff and Wayne were whooping it up letting everyone within earshot know I had just had a hole-in-one. Surprisingly, after one good fist pump, I stayed pretty calm.

Before we began our round, the course GM had let me know that he had shot a 67 that morning. I told him that I’d just have to go out and shoot a 66 then! At the turn, I went to the club pro (Andrew) and told him he could text Graeme and let him know I wouldn’t be beating his 67 but to be sure to let him know that I had aced #5.

When I finished the round, Andrew met me at the clubhouse and presented me a bag tag denoting the moment and an embroidered towel with a hole-in-one logo.

It was a great feeling to watch the ball head to the hole and disappear into it. I dropped my club on the ground and started jumping for joy! The distance was 101 yards from the silver tee box and I was using my 7 hybrid. I happened to be playing with two staff members from Olympic View Golf Course who had never been with anyone who had a hole-in-one. It was a fun moment. When the course drinks cart came around, I bought the beer. By the time we finished the last fairway, I realized that the news had reached the starter shack and was still circulating several days later.

Occurred on a cool fall day at Copper Creek Golf Club on October 8, 2023. I was playing with Robby and Diego. Special moment happened on hole #8 from 139 yards. I hit a perfect Srixon #4 ball. It was seven feet short of the flag and it rolled itself into the hole perfectly.

This hole has had my number for 15 years with the highest score of 13 and now the lowest being one. Lucky triple eight!

Jackie Green, The Nest Golf Club at Friday Harbour, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I have been golfing casually since 2009. However, in the last few years as a member of The Nest Golf Club at Friday Harbour, I have been able to golf at least a couple times a week which has helped with my game. I was golfing on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 with my husband Dean Cicci and a couple of our friends, Dave Cannon and Ilia Paraschis.  Once the guys teed off it was my turn. I teed up and used my 5 wood as the pin on the 8th hole was closer to the front of the green. It was a clean shot, clearing the water and went directly at the pin landing no more than a foot away. I saw it land and then roll right into the cup! It was very exciting and I’m sure the rest of the course could hear my excitement. As word got back to our clubhouse, our club manager Peter Young met me at the 14th hole to congratulate me. After the round, I celebrated my ace at the clubhouse by buying shots of fireball for all that were there! Fun times and I hope to do this again!

Jamie Steele, McCall Lake Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 6 iron from 167 yards to a back right pin on #17 at McCall Lake on October 8. I was playing with another single golfer named Ed as there was a long frost delay in the morning. I could not see the bottom of the pin when my ball landed but then I did not see the ball roll past the pin and I said maybe the ball went in the hole. Ed was riding in a cart, and I was walking and he got to the green first and said my ball was in the hole. I could not believe it as I had never really been close to a hole-in-one before.

Jas Khatra, Southbrook Golf & Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Editor’s Note: Our very own Golf Canada staff member, Jas Khatra, achieved an ace Southbrook Golf & Country Club. This is his first hole-in-one!

It definitely made for an awesome round. Unfortunately, I was playing by myself when it occurred, so I had a little one-man celebration on the green.

It was about 165 yards downhill with an 8 iron, landed just behind the pin and rolled in.

Jeff Barratt, Mississauga Golf & Country Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Phil Leja and Steve Mika. It was a 9 iron from 129 yards.

Jeff Brookhouser, Niagara-On-The-Lake Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Best day ever!

John Bonham, Cottonwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Mark Carson and Craig Thomas. The yardage was roughly 146 with a breeze coming towards us.  I used a 6 iron from the bronze tees.

Karen Robertson, Seymour Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve been playing for a few decades so it was nice to finally have one drop! It was hole #14 which is 113 yards uphill with a middle pin. I used a 7 iron by TaylorMade. My ball was a Lady Bridgestone and was with my partner Scott Warner.

Marian Thomson, Pender Island Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

My first hole-in-one was on hole #4 in October 2022. This time it happened on hole #6.

Once again, I used my driver, something I like as I can pull back on it nicely, although I am experimenting with different options, the driver always gives me a range of options I am comfortable with.

A hole-in-one on #6 is so great because you can actually see the ball land and travel to the hole, creating suspense as to whether it will actually drop. So, there was anticipation and then celebration.

Neil MacDonald, Shannon Lake Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #16, 150 yards with an 8 iron and I was playing with Andrew and Kian Albiston as well as Andrew Hull.

Ngoc Tran, Saint-Raphaël (Club de golf) – Bleu, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my golf buddy/partner since the 2021 season at Golf Saint-Raphael with our spouses and their lady friends in the foursome behind us. Coincidentally, my partner, Kim Thong Ta, also made a hole-in-one at the very same 15th hole in the 2022 season.

The flag was in the middle of the green toward the left bunker, away from the water hazard on the right. I attempted a low line drive into the wind directly at the flag, knowing that the ball would land safely on the fairway if the shot was short.

From the tee, I was able to see the ball bounce once and roll onto the green toward the flag but wasn’t sure where it ended up. As I approached the green, the ball was nowhere in sight; could it have rolled across the green into the rough? Before searching for the ball in the rough, I decided to look for it in the hole and, well, the rest is history.

My wife and I started to play golf around 2005-2006; although we were interested (I more so than my better half), we never really played much. Since 2007, I’ve played five rounds or less per season mostly accompanying my friends and enjoying the walk and view of the courses. Needless to say, our golf skills were non-existent.

It was COVID that brought us back to golf. Out of the blue, my tennis buddies, to whom I introduced golf several years earlier, called and invited me to join them. This was July 2020. Since 2021, my wife and I have been members at Saint-Raphael and played regularly.

Paul Kennedy, Wooden Sticks Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friends Bill Triolo and Bob Philip. We were playing in the Ke Tarling Invitational Tournament. The shot was on the 3rd hole at Wooden Sticks Golf Course which is a replica hole of the 12th Hole at Augusta National Golf Course. The hole was playing 140 yards into a bit of a breeze. I hit my 4 hybrid. The ball was right online the whole way. From the elevated tee, we could see that there was no doubt that the ball rolled into the hole after landing about 10 feet short.

Peter Garnham, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley – HOOT, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two buddies, Carter Gates and Alex Jacques McClary. We were playing the blue tees and the hole was playing 165 yards to the pin. I used a 7 iron and it was the best shot I’ve hit in my life. It sounded pure and it was dead straight.

The craziest part about the story is that one of our friend’s dad’s, Bart Von Kalkreuth, got a hole-in-one on the same hole five minutes after I did!

Richard Daukant, The Pulpit Club – Paintbrush, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was at the Paintbrush course. It was 151 yards with a 7 iron. I played with Fraser Nelson.

Rick Ferguson, Willow Valley Golf, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second ace on this hole. I used a pitching wedge to go 117 yards.

Spencer Reid, Bridgewater Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two buddies, Carter Gates and Alex Jacques McClary. We were playing the blue tees and the hole was playing 165 yards to the pin. I used a 7 iron and it was the best shot I’ve hit in my life. It sounded pure and it was dead straight.

The craziest part about the story is that one of our friend’s dad’s, Bart Von Kalkreuth, got a hole-in-one on the same hole five minutes after I did!

Terry Moore, Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife, Sandra, and two guests, Terry and Peggy from Midland. The hole-in-one was on hole #14, 133 yards with a back pin at Settler’s Ghost. The rain was just starting so we decided to play this hole before it poured. I used a 3 hybrid. We could not see the ball finish as the hole was in a hollow near the back of the green. When we got to the green it was found in the hole.

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Have you recently accomplished the feat of a hole-in-one? Tell us about it! Share your story, picture / video and course information with us at holeinone@golfcanada.ca.

Lucy Zhang, Glencairn Golf Club, Hole #12

I used a 3 hybrid and the hole was 156 yards.

Michael Feduzzi, Guelph Country Club, Hole #7

It occurred on the Sunday, after our men’s closing. Fortunately, the t-sheet was sparse, and the wallet didn’t take a real big hit. It was the 7th hole, par 3, 157 yards. I think the whole course heard me scream. The funny thing is this 112-year-old course has nine holes. The second time around, from 169 yards, I hit the pin and tapped in for a birdie and went out and bought a lottery ticket. Great day to remember.

Andre Potvin, Mountain Woods Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was made on hole #12 at Mountain Woods Golf Club. The distance was 214 yards and used a #5 fairway metal. My playing partners Garry Miles, Claude Desrochers and Fergus Omond.

Andrew Perugini, Carrying Place Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my good friend and my cousin at Carrying Place on a Sunday afternoon. The hole was playing difficult with a front pin location and a two club wind into us. The hole was zapped at 145 yards, so I took out my 8 iron and hit a high draw over the top of the flagstick. The ball landed three feet behind the hole and spun back into the cup. It was a very cool experience because I was able to see the entire ball flight, where the ball landed and how it tracked back to the hole because of where the flag was located. It was my first hole-in-one and a memory I will never forget.

Ashton Romaniuk, Labroquerie Golf, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #5, 175 yards to a front pin. I was playing with my co-worker and best buddy, Paison Butler, who advised me a “light” 8 iron would do the trick. I hit the shot and right away thought, “Oh that’s going to be good” so I picked up my tee without even watching the rest of the ball flight. I was then tackled by my buddy screaming, “It went in, it went in!” and then he took off running down the fairway! I couldn’t believe it went in.

Brad Henderson, Forest City National Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Matt McCallum, Adam Fox and Matt Morrison. It was 172 yards and I used an 8 iron.

Cedric Thompson, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I used my 8 wood and it was 156 yards playing with Jim Newman and Barry Norminton.

David Beck, Sagebrush Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Fourth hole at Sagebrush Golf Club on Saturday, September 30th with James Wise and Robert Hunter who was playing with us. The par 3, fourth hole is 165 yards and I was hitting my 7 iron.

David Hinton, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Our group was playing in our biennial “Ryder Cup” event. I was playing for Team Europe. The yardage was 125. I hit a Callaway Big Bertha 9 iron. Playing a yellow Titleist Pro V1.  The ball hit about six inches in front of the hole. One bounce and in. Our Europe Team won the matches that day. Playing with Andrew Ward against Jamie Bridwell and Graham Cross. Only my second hole-in-one (last was 30 years ago). Hopefully I get my next sooner as I am 73 years old.

Derek Hood, Barrie Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

On Monday September 25th, while playing with Larry and Mel at the Barrie Country Club. I was fortunate enough to make a hole-in-one on the 142 yard 13th hole using my Ping hybrid.

Elliot Noh, FireRock Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one took place on September 25th. My tee-time was at 10:10 a.m., with two other gentlemen who I met for the first time. One of their names was Michael, but unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of another person who was his friend. I hit a 6 iron on the 176 yard par 3 from the gold tees.  With some tailwind, the ball landed at the front edge of the green, bounced once and went directly into the hole.

I’ve hit another hole-in-one about two years ago on the eighth hole, so I’ve been having some amazing luck at Fire Rock!

Fay Elsdon, Cottonwood Coulee Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rita Scott and Yvonne Borrowman. The yardage was 100 with an 8 iron.

Fred Vautour, Pine Needles Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Jackie Boudreau, Bernie Savoie and Lucille Savoie. The yardage was 104 yards and I used a 9 iron with a Titleist Velocity ball.

Fredrick Courchene, York Lake Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

Unfortunately, I was playing alone. I did use a 9 iron into wind, pin in the front playing about 143 yards. The ball one hopped short of green hit the flag stick and dropped in the cup.

George Kolisnek, Hylands Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The distance was 167 yards and I used a Callaway Mavrik 4 hybrid club. I was playing with retired military friends with whom I golf two or three days a week.

Gerald Aggus, Hidden Lake Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I have been playing golf since I was 20 years old on and off until about seven years ago when I semi-retired and I began golfing regularly three times a week. My first hole-in-one occurred on the 17th hole at Hidden Lake in Burlington. The pin was at the back of the green and I was playing with my regular Friday group. We did not see my 5 iron shot roll into the hole but heard the clunk when it hit the pin. What a thrill to experience my first ace after so many years!

Helen Knowlton, Foothills Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my hubby, Lorne, and my in-laws Bob and Loralee Knowlton at Foothills Golf Club in Phoenix. I was so surprised when it rolled in and my sister-in-law Loralee was more excited than I was. This was my third hole-in-one in less than a year. Then I got super excited as I’m not a serious golfer at all.

Hugh Mitchell, Eagles Glenn Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

On September 6th, I played with Dan Lavoie, Bruno Coté and Alex Sandahl, all from Montreal or the Laurentians. I was playing with 35 other guys on the annual Smitty’s Invitational, an informal group of guys hailing from all provinces from Newfoundland and Labrador to Ontario, plus a couple of guys from B.C. This is the 33rd Invitational and the largest so far. The last couple of “Western” venues were the Royal Laurentian and Niagara. In P.E.I. this year we played Andersons Creek, Glasgow Hills and, of course, Eagles Glenn.

For my hole-in-one it was on the 4th hole at Eagles Glenn. I was playing the green tees at 125 yards and used an 8 iron.

I am a 75-year-old retiree, who took up golf a little over a decade ago and play a couple of times a week. I belong to the Dunany Country Club and play at the Lachute Golf Club.

Jared Bertrim, Winchester Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

On one of the last warm sunny days of the year, I stepped up to the par 4 which was 245 yards uphill. I crushed my driver with a slight fade into the hill that bounced towards the green. After driving up to the green, we struggled to find my ball amongst the leaves and gave up after a couple of minutes. While walking across the green to grab a ball to drop, I noticed my bright red ball in the hole. The last place I’d think to look! I’m grateful to have shared the hole-in-one while playing with my dad, Dean, and our friends Mitch and Jay. We were playing this round with other foursomes in memory of a co-worker and friend, Adam Kelly.

Jesse Stewart, Quilchena Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my three pals that day, Kevin Stewart, Chris Jung and Jonathan Lee, all Quilchena members. We were on hole #11 and it was a strong head wind that day. 148 yards to the pin but playing more like 165-170. I took my 7 iron and gripped down a little and let it rip. It looked like it landed about a yard short two hops and in. There were a few stripes of shade going across the green so we were not sure until we walked up and found it in the hole, at that point the celebration commenced.

Jim Cepecauer, Bear Creek Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

On September 30th my wife Joann and I were out late afternoon when I hit a perfect 7 iron! 157 yards to a middle of the green pin. It took two bounces and rolled right in the cup! Two guys ahead on the blocks actually saw it roll in even. Turns out I was paired with him the next day in our final men’s league tourney! It took us a minute to realize that we were both talking about each other the night previous!

John Crosson, Barrie Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #7 at the Barrie Country Club. This is an uphill par 3 with a green that kind of has three different levels or tiers, and generally slopes to the left. I was playing from the blue tees, about 141 yards out.

I teed up with a 9 iron, hit it to just right of the pin but because of the elevated green I didn’t see where it landed. As our group walked up to the green, I couldn’t see the ball anywhere on the green itself. I figured that it rolled off the left side as they have a tendency to do so. One of the guys I was playing with said, “You should probably check the hole” and sure enough there it was!

Joshua McNair, Bayview Golf and country club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 iron to hit it 170 yards.

Lorie Baker, Maple City Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on the 12th hole at our picturesque home club, Maple City Country Club located in Chatham-Kent, Ontario.   The 12th hole is a short 104 yard par three over water to a green that slopes gently back to front, with the front of the green having considerably more slope towards the impending water. I normally use a 7 iron on this hole, but that day I choose to use my Callaway 6 iron to ensure I would clear the forever heightening reeds and grasses. After striking the ball, I watched it land on the green and run up to the flag pole which was positioned at the back of the green, and then disappear. I assumed that it must have rolled off the back of the green, however my golfing partner, Joan suggested she check the hole first. To our amazement my TaylorMade golf ball was sitting in the bottom of the hole! The best day ever!

Maynard Simpson, Eagles Glenn Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners were Linda Spenser and Janet Phillips. The 17th hole at Eagles Glenn was playing 125 yards and I used a 7 iron. I have also had a two on a par 5. The 8th hole at Green Gables Golf Club on the original course layout in 1978.

Mike Appleyard, Links at Crowbush Cove, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was on a trip with friends and colleagues to P.E.I. on June 9th and was playing my typical 90’s golf with the help of a few cold Gahan beers. I approached the 17th hole par 3 elevated green. From the whites, it was a 107 yards to the center with wind swirling at the top of the elevated green. I purchased all new Vokey Wedges this year and have been practicing my 100 yard game extensively. I decided on my 48 wedge off the white tees and gave it go. When we approached the green, we only found three balls and figured I must have gone over the back into the woods. It wasn’t until my buddy Remi Comeau looked into the hole and told me I got an ace. It was the single best golf experience I’ve ever had!

Nicholas Fawcett, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Clublink member Justin Lafleur and Liam Eddenden and my cousin, James Kitchen. It was on hole #15 at Greyhawk Talon. The distance was 167 yards I used a 7 iron with a draw over the bunker and it landed about 10 feet short and rolled right in!

Ralph Balila, Victoria Park Valley Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

Golf has been my passion for the last 25 years and I am beyond thrilled. For some reason my swing that day was particularly smooth and relaxed so with my Cleveland Launcher XL 8 iron I hit a nice draw from an elevated tee that landed 10 feet in front of the flag which then rolled in. It was certainly a surreal experience and I’m just glad it happened while playing on our regular Sunday couples golf group.

Raymond Chan, Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Hole #15

Ryan Crowley, Grey Silo Golf Course, Hole #2

Ryan Crowley, Grey Silo Golf Course, Hole #2

It was a 9 iron from 167 yards in our Ontario University Athletics tournament while I was representing Queen’s University!

Ryan McConnell, St. Thomas Golf and Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Ryan O’Hara, Matt Duncan and Tim McLaren. We were all guests of Ryan’s. It was also a cool feeling as Tim Moore the head pro has been a family friend since I was a kid.

I had a 9 iron in my hand and ended up switching to an 8 iron. It was 144 yards on the rangefinder, and I landed it about five yards past the hole and it rolled down and in. I had actually hit the shot, and once it landed on the green started to walk back to my bag and one of my playing partners, Tim, had said that it’s still rolling and then he said get your rangefinder’s that might’ve gone in. None of us could exactly tell so we didn’t want to celebrate too much.

Matt started videotaping about halfway to the hole when he realized it was in. I got close to the green and pointed to another ball, which was Ryan’s. To which he said that’s my ball. That’s when it started to sink in that it could possibly be in the hole. Then I walked up and retrieved it. First one ever

Terry Hodgson, Mountain Creek Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

Like most retirees I didn’t take up the game until I left the office life behind. I have played mostly around Southern Ontario, Northern New York, and my favourite, Bermuda. I played the Mid-Ocean with my grandson, what a blast! I scored the hole-in-one on #14 at the Mountain Creek Golf Course, which is just south of Arnprior, Ontario. I play with a couple of buddies that I curl with and one new guy (retired RCMP) who keeps us entertained with his story telling. The hole is 125 yards from the green was 118 from the reds/yellow so I grabbed a 7 iron and teed up one of my special golf balls. I like to play with Callaway Super Soft, yellow balls, they are easier to see from the fairways and greens. When one reaches 80 years of age it is important to have golf balls that are easy to see, that way you don’t lose too many as you wonder around the course. I haven’t been able to repeat that feat, but I keep coming back knowing that if I did it once, I can do it again.

Tina Liu, Elbow Harbour Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one on September 22, 2023, in the SHSAA 2023 Provincial Golf Championship. On the 15th hole par 3 in Elbow Harbor golf course.

Todd Markus, Dakota Dunes Golf Links, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a couple of buddies of mine, Dan Leier and Cam Bristow, when I got my hole-in-one on hole #17 at Dakota Dunes Golf Links in Saskatoon. The hole was playing 174 yards with a slight breeze into us. I used a 7 iron and hit a high draw into the green, landing about six feet from the hole before rolling in.

Tony Gabriel, Gander Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Sterling Brett, Gerry Parrot and Max Kean. It was 140 yards and a 6 iron.

Valerie LeMessurier, Nanton Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I golf at the Nanton Golf Club in Nanton, Alberta. On August 15th 2023 I had a hole-in-one on the par 3, 8th hole which is 136 yards using a 9 iron. In the same round, I had another hole-in-one on the 17th hole par 3. That one is 191 yards using a 6 iron. Two holes-in-one in the same round.

Wendy Leach, Bootleg Gap Golf, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 4 hybrid. The yardage was 107 yards. I was golfing with Carol Tanner, Lee Morrison and Sharon Sullivan. We are all from Saskatchewan.

Zach Newcombe, Musqueam Golf and Learning Centre, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my girlfriend, Anna, and we were paired up with a couple of younger guys, Nick and Liam. It was hole #6, which is 122 yards long and the pin was located closer to the front of the green, so it was approximately 118 yards. We were straight downwind, and the wind was blowing fairly strong that day, so I played a 110 yard shot with the pitching wedge. It was struck really well and flew straight at the flag. We saw it land pretty close to pin and it danced around the flagstick with two or three little bounces and just disappeared completely. I was so excited my club just fell out of my hand and I ran over to celebrate with the group. I bought everyone a round of beers at the turn to cheers to the experience. What a great memory.

Best day!

Baron Snow, Grand Falls Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with members Tony Beson and Roger Budgell. It drizzled in the morning, and both Tony and I thought it might have gone in but weren’t sure due to the drizzle on our glasses.

When we approached the green it was nowhere to be seen. I asked Rog to check the hole to see if I needed my putter or not. He said leave the putter but bring his phone. At 66 years old I wondered if I would ever get a hole-in-one, but I did!

Barry Caland, Fort William Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 120 yards with a gap wedge. My witnesses were Don Zatti, John Boorman and Bill Mauro.

Bill Drury, Inverary Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I am 73 and mostly playing from the red tees these days. Hole #8 at Inverary shows a yardage of 115 yards. There’s a lip at the front so it’s playing a bit longer, plus a wind against on the day. So, I figure total yardage at 128 yards. Using a hybrid, I hit the shot and saw the ball very close and above the hole. It stayed there for a few seconds before it rolled into the hole, helped by the slope and the wind. My playing companions were my wife, Cynthia, and our friend, Al Parkin.

Bill Robinson, Brockville Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a wedge on the 9th hole at the Brockville Country Club. I was playing with a friend, Paul Sloan, who is also a member. The distance was 115 yards.

Doug Ward, Thornhill Country Clubm, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with our Wednesday afternoon men’s group. The hole was approximately 150 yards long with a significant uphill rise. I used a TaylorMade 6 iron. I hit the ball fairly clean, and it landed beside the green and got a very good “kick” towards the hole and it went in. A very pleasing feeling.

Eddie Dent, Prince George Golf Club, Hole #12

What a great day!

George Bowditch, Chinook Golf Course, Hole #7

I made my third ever hole-in-one on the par 3, 135-yard 7th hole. My buddy Bob Sanders witnessed it and ironically, he witnessed my first when it was hole #4 on the same tract of land but the direction of the green was reversed. This area of Chinook Golf Course is my favourite and luckiest part of any course I have played.

Jamie Alcock, Mill Run Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with John and Karen Michalicka. It was 139 yards and I used my 9 iron.

John Faubert, Harbourview Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #2, 160 yards hit with a TaylorMade Hybrid #4 fairway metal. My partners that day were Dave Gillam, Steve Leigh and Dominic Cugliari. This was my second hole-in-one since I began golfing.

Kellan Bernard, Scenic City Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Sean MacDonald and Trevor Beadie. It was 123 yards with a 54-degree wedge.

Kieran Shanahan, Glasgow Hills Resort, Hole #7

Every Wednesday 12 of us play Spring Creek Golf Course. Afterwards we all have a beer and chat about the past and future plans. On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, my dream finally came true! I was having a decent round with two bad holes and was four over going into the 9th and final hole. The pin was playing 157 yards with sunset creeping over the left side tree line, casting shadows on the green. I teed off first using a 7 iron and hit it pure. My buddies in front of us had an opportunity to see the shot but kept walking to their cars. I lost the ball as it was coming down and my buddy James said, “I think that it went in.” as he saw it hit the front of the green and lost it at the flag. My other buddy Dick said, “It sure looked good so I grabbed my range finder and couldn’t see it on the green but thought I had seen a ball at the back of the green just in the first cut. James and Dick then teed off and I was very curious at this point to see if my dream had come true. As we approached the green, I noticed the ball that I thought was mine, wasn’t a ball, my heart started to beat faster. I then looked in the cup and there it was, a 157-yard hole-in-one. I let out several large yells and James and Dick started taking pictures. My buddies in front of us were already on the deck with their beers when they asked why all the yelling as they thought I chipped in for birdie, only to find out they were getting a free beer on me. I went up to the club house and told the lady what happened, and she was just as excited as me. I am now part of the hole-in-one club at Spring Creek, and she gave me an emblem to put with the case I’m planning to purchase to showcase my ball (Taylor Made TP5), scorecard, emblem/pin and picture. As I was waiting for the group behind us to get on the green, I started asking them all what drink they want only for them to realize I had gotten a hole-in-one. I can honestly say I never thought it would happen and now that it has, there truly are no words to describe it and what an amazing feeling.

Larry Davies, Piper’s Heath, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one at Piper’s Heath on Thursday, September 21, on hole #11. The yardage was 166 and I hit a beautiful 6 iron that landed and then rolled in the hole like a putt. I marshal at Piper’s and was playing with a fellow marshal and two other individuals we had not met previously. This was number eight for me but the first in over five years.

Lisa Carbonetto, Sirocco Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband, Barry Carbonetto, Sean White and Desmond White. As we approached the par 3, hole #14 my husband just happened to be talking with Sean about a hole-in-one that I got many years ago, at River Spirit Golf Course (which was a total fluke as I had only golfed maybe two or three times in my life). I took out my Callaway 7 Hybrid and hit my ball 122 yards to sink my shot in one! It was quite funny that a hole-in-one had just entered our conversation prior to me hitting the shot. This was my last game of the season as we are heading over to Rome to see the Ryder Cup. What a terrific way to end my season!

Mark Flood, Rocky Crest Golf Club, Hole #17

The yardage was 157 and I hit a 7 iron.

Maureen Schell, Ponoka Community Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, I was golfing the Ponoka Golf Course with two friends from the course, Barb and Marj and I got a hole-in-one on the 17th hole!

The distance for this hole is 141 yards with an elevated green. The pin placement for that day was on the left side in the front. I always use my driver on this hole because I don’t often hit the green (in my eyes it’s the toughest par 3 of the 4 that we have)!

Marj was the one who called it! She said, “This is a hole-in-one! It’s in!” I hit the front right of the green and the ball just started to curl left and rolled slowly into the cup! It was surreal! The three of us just hooted and hollered!!

The best part was to have gotten a hole-in-one with two great friends as witnesses!

Michael O’Reilly, Pheasant Run Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I got the hole-in-one on the 16th hole. It is actually the 7th hole on the Midlands 9. I play from the white tees. The yardage was approximately 136 yards, and it was a 7 iron. I was playing in a foursome. My playing partners included Merle Sibbert, John Pagniello and a gentleman who joined us who I did not know. His first name was Loui.

Mike Cornford, Beach Grove Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Paul Rempel, Shawn Babcock and Gregg Rushton. What a special day and one I won’t ever forget. It was hole #7 at Beach Grove Golf Club, the yardage was around 122 and I hit a pitching wedge. Absolutely perfect shot, a few yards past the hole and spun it right back into the cup. One of the best shots I’ve hit this year, and it absolutely proved it. Can’t wait to get out and play again all fall and winter!

Noel Hay, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

The distance to the pin was about 125 yards. I used a hybrid pitching wedge. Slight draw, landing close to the pin and rolling in. Unfortunately, I did not see the ball fall in but the other three saw it all. My foursome included Jim Baker, Ray Morris and Germain Belanger.

Norm Oliver, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was on the 8th hole at Whistle Bear Golf Club. It was 109 yards with a two club headwind. I used an 8 hybrid.

Paul Horswood, St. Andrew’s Valley Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the 17th at St. Andrew’s Valley. The pin placement was at the front left, and I believe it was 138 yards from the white tees, which is what our group were playing and usually play. The club was a rather nicely struck 8 iron. I had time to pick up the tee before we all watched in silence as the ball pitched about a foot in front of the pin and rather serenely rolled forward and disappeared into the hole. At which time the silence was broken with a mix of profanity and jubilant celebrations. My foursome was Davey Stone, Peter Saunders, Jeff McCloskey and myself.

Ron Ellis, Blue Devil Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was approximately 145. I used a 7 iron as the wind was behind me. I was playing with Michael Zaychkowsky, Rob Hughes and Bill Salter who are all members of Blue Devil Golf Club.

Ronnie Birdgenaw, Pine View Golf Course, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 97 yards, and I used a 54-degree Titleist Vokey SM9 and a Titleist ProV1x ball.

Scott Mirault, Deep River Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The scorecard says 155 yards, but with the pin at the back of the green, and tee blocks at the back of the tee, it was playing 165. My 8 iron landed just short of the pin and we (Todd Chaput, Ryan Joyce, and Eric Senohrabek) all witnessed the ball disappear into the cup.

Sing Lee, Bally Haly Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with my husband, Dave Blanchard, Fred Steinhauer and ShiKan Yue on a freezing cold day. I used an 8 iron and it rolled in like a putt!

Tibor Bogdan, Chilliwack Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Yesterday was my dad’s 62nd birthday and I took him golfing at Chilliwack Golf Club in Chilliwack, B.C.

About two months prior, we played golf together at the same course and I made a hole-in-one on the 17th hole.

Yesterday my dad made a hole-in-one on the exact same hole I had one on. He hit a 5 iron from 155 yards. To top it off he called it on the tee box, and it was his birthday!  Pretty incredible!

Luke Bogdan, on behalf of Tibor Bogdan

Tom Fagan, Smuggler’s Glen, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my second hole-in-one. I was playing with a group of 24 players, who refer to the group as the Monkee Tour. They have been playing together every spring (May) and Fall (September) for over 30 years.

Saturday was our last round of the trip, and I was playing, Jim Micucci, Tim Oakes and Lindsay Nickels. On the 10th hole at Smugglers Glen, I used an 8 iron. It was nice that we all saw it hit the green and roll straight in.

Vicki Lacasse, Kanata Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

September 18th was a typical golf day for our Monday ladies group. I was fortunate to be teed up with Farida Tavares and Penny Rae-Keyes. Needless to say, I had one of my best rounds of golf shooting a 92. To top it off, I ended up with an ace on the 16th hole.

I was the last person to tee off on this particular hole and we all shared our choice of what clubs we were going to hit. It was decided that I would use my 5 hybrid. This hole has always been a nemesis for me as I don’t always know what club to hit. It was a 110 yard shot to an elevated green. As I hit the ball to the green Farida yelled out, “Your ball hit the pin” and thought, perhaps it may have gone in the hole.

The 16th hole par 3 is an elevated hole which is a difficult hole as it is an elevated green with three sand traps in the front. It ended up being a very exciting day with many of my club members congratulating me for my ace. Fortunately for some of the members they were able to share in the celebration for the next hour with free drinks on the house!

Wayne Butters, Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Al McLean, Peter Hogg and Jerry Schaubel. I used my 8 iron and the yardage was 120.

Will Smith, Conestoga Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my second hole-in-one at Conestoga Golf Course outside of Waterloo on September 21st. It was hole #2 on the Goose nine, 160 yards and I used my 5 iron. It was our high school class reunion tournament, so I had lots of friends around to share in the excitement. As a bonus it was also the hole, they were using for closest to the pin, so I won a nice bottle of Tequila.

Mery Tarigan, Highland Country Club, Hole #2

I was playing with my Canadian father Paul Tufts. The distance was 170 yards and I used my 3 wood.

Jay Tucker, Bear Mountain Golf Course, Hole #10

I hit the shot super solid, but a little long and a little left of the flag. It hit the hill behind and left of the flag. One of the guys said it was on the lower level, so I was thinking about how I would need to putt it close to make my par. Then it rolled down the slope and really accelerated hard to the right on the green and then just disappeared at the pin.

The two guys I was playing with both screamed, "it went in!" and "hole-in-one!" and then absolutely mobbed me screaming and jumping up and down. Then many high fives and a quick ace picture. I finally confirmed it was truly in the cup after heading up to the green.

We had shots of Crown Royal from the drink cart and a bunch of high fives from the ladies piloting said beverage cart on the next hole fairway. Proceeded to make a birdie on the following hole.

That is my second hole-in-one so far. The other was at La Quinta, Dunes Course.

Art Wilkinson, Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

It was 145 yards with my 7 iron. I played with Simon MacDonald, Glenn Usher and Bill Murphy.

Christine Cheng, Hautes Plaines, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #3 is a par 3 with an elevated green so you can’t see the hole from the tees. From the red tees it was 113 yards with a blue flag. I hit a great shot with my 9 iron. We saw my ball hit the front of the green and it took a big bounce. When we got to the green, we couldn’t find my ball, so we looked in the brush and trees behind the green. Since no one was behind us, we looked for about five minutes without success when I finally decided to drop a second ball and take a penalty. At that moment, my husband called our playing partner over to the green because he wanted to “show him something”. I followed and when we looked in the cup, there was my yellow and black chrome soft ball. My husband’s father always told him that if you can’t find the ball, check the cup. My husband has found three holes-in-one that way! We were so excited that after taking photos, our playing partner got to his golf cart and realized he hadn’t even putt his ball which was still on the green! Since it was ladies’ night at the club we finished our round, 50 women celebrated my hole-in-one with a free drink! It was such a memorable and unforgettable experience.

Claire Lawrence, Revelstoke Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first ever hole-in-one and I was playing with two guys from Alberta who were on a golf tour in B.C.

It was hole #17 at Revelstoke from the green tees, so 92 yards. With water and a sand trap in front of the green I took an 8 iron as you can be long, but you most definitely do not want to be short.

The ball flight was perfect, nice and straight and high over the water. It hit the front of the green and felt like it just steadily rolled until we couldn’t see it anymore.

The guys celebrated louder than I did. I didn’t want to get excited until I saw it was for sure in the hole.

Craig Harkness, Eaglequest Grandview Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with Ken and Faun Doctor and Ron. I used my 9 iron into the wind, the yardage was 129.

Dave Gignac, Thames Valley Golf Course, Hole #8

I played with Jeff Skinner, Neil MacMillan and Joe Speed. The 8th hole was 152 yards that day and I used an 8 iron for the shot.

Debbie Dyck, Two Eagles Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with friends Gary and Shannon Abbott and Ken Koemsted. The yardage was 133 and I used a hybrid 5 wood. Gary and Shannon bought a ball marker for me. They went to retrieve the scorecard from a cart and the starter asked if they were with the person who got a hole-in-one and when they confirmed they were he gave them another ball marker. An anonymous golfer in the area of the hole had purchased one for me. We were very impressed with that random act of kindness from another golfer.

George Watson, Cranbrook Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a 76-year-old who has been playing golf since I was 4. I was blessed by parents who brought me into the game when I was very young and encouraged me to play it throughout my life. My Dad was my coach forever, and I was fortunate enough to have won Club Championships at Vernon, Windsor Park (Winnipeg), Ft. Nelson, and Cranbrook. I love the game and feel very fortunate to still be able to play three to four times a week.

On Tuesday, August 29th, I came to the 17th at St. Eugene hitting the ball decently, but not scoring particularly well. My friend, Gerry White, hit a really nice shot that appeared to be a little left of the pin, but about five or six feet away. He told me he left space for my shot.

The 17th was playing 158 yards, with the middle pin set about 30 feet behind the front bunker. I hit a nice high 9 wood that looked pretty good from the time it left my club. I lost sight of it when it landed, but Gerry said, “it’s in!” To be truthful, I thought he was pulling my leg. I got in my cart and headed for the green. Gerry and my other great friend, and next-door neighbor, Pat Koski, headed to the green in the other cart.

When I got to the green, I could not see my ball, but thought it might be over the green, so I grabbed my putter and my wedge, and walked onto the surface. Gerry said, “you won’t be needing either of those.” So, I walked to the hole, looked down, and there it was.

Many thanks to Gerry and Pat who witnessed the shot, and to Cindy, Mike and the St. Eugene Pro Shop staff for all their enthusiastic support and congratulations.

Jane Wallbridge, King Valley Golf Club, Hole #12

Wednesday is Ladies’ Day at King Valley. I was paired with Sandy Cho and Tina Morrison. The game for the day was “Pink Ball” so each team was given a pink ball. Each player had to take their turn playing with the pink ball as we rotated every third hole. Whichever team returned the pink ball to the clubhouse at the end of the game was given a prize. It was my turn to play the pink ball on hole #12, par three 103 yards over water. I took my 9 iron and hit away! It landed and rolled right into the cup. We were watching from the tee box and could not quite believe it was in the hole. But when I got to the green and did not see the pink ball on the green, I looked in the cup and there it was sitting at the bottom! This is my third hole-in-one at King Valley. The first was on hole #16 in 2013, the second on hole #7 in 2021.

September 13, hole #7, University GC.Senior Men’s Midweek. From 121 yards and used a pitching wedge. Played with M. Fryzuk, P.Kaushal, B. McAfee. Fryzuk and I looked at each other and said “did that go in? I think it is in the hole.”

My 3rd hole-in-one.

Jocelyn McInnis, Olds Golf Club, Hole #16

This is my third hole-in-one in three years. This one was different than the first two. It was not exactly the perfect shot, but it had the right line and bounced onto the green then caught the pin dead on and in. It would have been off the green. This is my second on this hole from the silver tees. The par 3 was 125 yards.

John Gray, Burlington Springs Golf, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

As we approached the third hole at Burlington Springs Golf Club which was playing 146 yards, I hit a six iron and watched as it one hopped into the hole. This was much to the delight of my playing partners Ross Banford, Chuck Alcote and Murray Depape. We then realized how lucky we are to be playing this game.

Karen Biskey, Burlington Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

It was a hot Thursday, September 7, 2023, and I was playing with Leslie, Iva and Judy. Leslie and I were playing the white tees and Judy and Iva were playing the reds. Our group plays ready golf, and I was the first to tee off #6. I tend to jump up to the tee. The yardage that day was 129 and I pulled out my favourite club, my Callaway Maverick 11 wood.

The pin was left of center and my tee shot flew the bunker and landed softly to the left of the pin. We were all watching as the ball rolled toward the hole and I started thinking “this just might go in” and then it disappeared! The four of us erupted for at least five minutes of cheering and jumping up and down.  I then went on to take a 9 on the 7th hole (par 5) so the golf gods kept me humble. I started to calm down by the 8th hole and finished my round with my usual 90.

Kyle Shaw, Spring Creek Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ever hole-in-one at 53 years of age. It was the ninth hole playing 157 yards to the pin and I used my 7 iron. I knew I hit it well but due to sunset and shade areas on green I lost the ball once it hit the green. My buddy James said, “that’s in!” I looked with my finder and thought the ball was at the back of the green. As I got closer, I noticed it wasn’t a ball and my heart rate started to climb. Once I got to the hole and saw my ball in the cup I started to yell. What a great feeling!

Larry Longo, Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was September 13th when Larry Longo had a stroke of luck on hole #17 at Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club. I was playing with fellow members Tom Worsley and Ken McAndrews. My last hole-in-one was way back in the 1970s, so this was a pleasant surprise. I used a 5 iron for the 185-yard shot. I remember saying, ‘go in,’ as I watched the ball rolling on the green, and to my amazement, it disappeared into the hole.

Mark Griffith, Paradise Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It happened during a morning round at Paradise Canyon Golf Course in Lethbridge, Alberta. It was on September 12th at 10am on the 17th hole par 3. The yardage was 143 and I took my 8 iron and hit it to around four feet left of the pin and the ball spun right into the hole! It felt amazing.

Mark Stevens, The Hamptons Golf Club, Hole #5

The yardage that day was 151.9 per my rangefinder and I hit a 7 iron. I don’t mean to brag, but this was my fifth hole-in-one. My first two occurred on consecutive days the first playing men’s night and then the next day in a corporate tournament, I won $2,000 for the first one and $10,000 for the second one. It pays to be lucky.

Peter McMath, Northview Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

My playing partner was Evan French and paired with an out-of-town couple from Arizona (Sunny and Amanda). The scorecard yardage was 167 yards but we lasered it at 152. I used a 9 iron.

It was quite a feeling to get a hole-in-one, my first ever after playing golf for over 45 years! I was playing with a friend by the name of Danny Marques. I got my hole-in-one on August 18th, on hole #3 at the Rockland Golf Course. The hole measures 140 yards from the green tees. I used my 7 iron, landed the ball to about 10 feet from the hole and it rolled in. What a feeling!

Rob Ferguson, Barrie Country Club, Hole #7

On Sunday September 17th, I was invited to play with three other members on a great brisk morning. We arrived at our 7th hole which is an uphill par 3. The pin was at the front that day. I took my 9 iron, 142-yard shot. Nice easy swing, hit in front of the flag and in! Amazing day!

Scott Brauer, Rossmore Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with fellow members Zac McLennan, Andy Tesch and Jeff Weselake. The yardage from the blue tees was 173 to which my range finder indicated. I chose an 8 iron as my club choice. I struck the ball, and it came off my club face at a high trajectory with a slight draw straight towards the hole. The ball landed on the green, seemingly right at the hole. However, due to the greens elevation the shot was blind for us. We all thought it must be close but weren’t certain until we heard the group ahead of us yell, “it’s in the hole!” I think we were all sort of in shock when we walked up to the green to confirm.

Shauna Adams, Carmoney Golf Club, Hole #11

I was playing with my husband, Wade Bearchell, our friend, Jeff Newby and Ethan Engels, another member at Carnmoney.

The distance to the pin was 102 yards, downhill drop. So, I picked my weapon of choice, a pitching wedge. I hit my golf ball in line with the flag, saw the ball land on the green and took two bounces then gently rolled in the hole. Wow, what an incredible moment! This is my second ace and Vanh’s first time witnessing a hole-in-one. We were both ecstatic!

Bill Bratt, Timber Ridge Golf Course, Hole #8

I used a Taylormade P790 pitching wedge. The cup was somewhat hidden between two knolls in the green, but we saw that the ball hit, skipped forward and disappeared. There was no real excitement until you see what transpired. I was playing with my good friend Andy and a couple of gents that we met, Cole and his Nonno. There were only three balls on the green and Andy quickly claimed the ball next to the pin, I thought that he was pulling my leg. Nonno saw the markings on his ball, almost the same as my markings, and claimed his ball. That’s when Andy said, “check the hole!” I pulled out my phone and there was my fourth career hole-in-one! This happened five days after I celebrated my first-ever hole-in-one 25 years earlier at Crowbush Cove. It’s been a really good year as I was turning 70 I wanted to shoot my age and managed to shoot a 69 and a 68 a month or so ago!

Dennis Yoo, Greenhills Golf Club, Hole #3

It was 157 yards and I hit a 7 iron. My playing partners were Glen Hall, Danny Pacifico and Anthony Bolzonello.

Aaron Campbell, Countryview Golf Club, Hole #16

My playing partners were Shawn Arbing, Mike MacNeill and Alex MacFayden. The hole yardage was 120, and my club was a pitching wedge. The ball played was a Srixon Z-Star XV, Club was a Srixon ZX-5 pitching wedge.

The event was day one of the Countryview Golf Course Club Championship. I went on to win the second division flight in a one-hole playoff.

Art Lappalainen, Penticton Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my regular golf buddies, Glen Brennan, Eric Johnson and Rod Zornes. Rod was the first to hit on the 16th hole which was playing about 164 yards. We couldn’t see the ball, but we thought it was really close to the hole. The other two guys hit but didn’t hit the green. Then I hit, I thought it was a pretty good 6 iron but I thought I was a little long, but we couldn’t see it from the tee box.

When we got close to the hole, we noticed there was only one ball on the green just past the hole. I said to Rod, “Are you going to check in the hole” because I thought it was his ball that went in. When he looks in the hole he said, “That’s not my ball because I wasn’t playing a Callaway.” I looked in the hole and I realize it’s my ball with my blue marks on it.

Bev Born, Southside Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with our fun Friday afternoon group, the Swingers. My foursome consisted of Arlane Balichowski, Joan Chittick, Mikki Dandonneau and myself. I finally joined the “club” at age 69. I was playing with my wife, and two friends.   hit a pure shot into a breeze, right at the flag. It carried the bunker and went in the hole.

Brad McIlroy, Kawartha Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a father son outing. Once a year my dad and I invite a longtime friend from public school and his dad. My buddy wasn’t having a great day, and on the 12th hole I said to him, “Okay this is a short hole, if you’re going to turn your day around or get a hole-in-one out here, this is the hole to do it on!” We had 111 yards uphill over a bunker, down wind. I hit a high draw with a 54-degree wedge that looked to land just right of the hole. Because it was over a bunker we couldn’t see where the ball finished. When we approached the green, we didn’t see my ball on the green, and it turns out it was one of those rare occasions where you look for your ball in the hole and there it was!

Brandon Bird, Coppinwood, Hole #11

I was playing with my wife, Susan Quinn, and a friend, David Pfeiffer. It was a blue flag, 166 yards into a breeze. I took an extra club, using a 5 iron. It hit the side of the green on the left which slopes to the right and tracked into the hole. My last and only other hole in one was on the 17th of August 2008 on the 15th hole.

Cohen Bitzer, Penticton Golf and Country Club, Hole #10

I was golfing with Jackson Coates, Matt Jones and Matt McDermont, all members of Penticton Golf and Country Club.

I made the hole-in-one on hole #10, with a middle-left pin placement 163 yards away. I was shooting into the wind, so I decided to use my 7 iron.

The golf game was one of our regular men’s section games played each Wednesday. I was playing with fellow members Brad Reimer, Bill Stuart and Gerry Adams. We were playing the 14th hole, which is a par 3 and 198 yards long. I used a 4 hybrid for the shot. When Bill Stuart hit teeing off first, the rest of us were standing around with nobody rushing to hit next. I said I’m not looking forward to this shot either, but I’ll hit. I struck one of my best hits that day and the ball was going straight for the pin, we are all watching and none of us saw the ball go in the hole as the pin was in a shadow. However, my 17-year-old grandson Samuel was in the group behind us, and he was on the 13th green with a good view of the 14th green. He came running over to congratulate me. That made the experience more enjoyable.

Darren Sopkow, Red Deer Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

Our group for the day was eight individuals and we were doing our final year end battle it out amongst the golf group for who’s the best. We have a fun golf group that passes around a club head cover for who’s the best for the year. The winner gets to keep the club head cover for the following year until it’s up for grabs again. Unfortunately, I never won the club head cover, but I did get a hole-in-one. We’ve been talking about how cool it would be for someone to get a hole-in-one in our informal year end event.

The wind was quite gusty. Our #2 hole is an uphill par 3 with three tiers to the green and a couple of bunkers on the left side and trees to the side. You want to hit the correct tier or miss short of the green altogether and rely on your chipping skills to get up and down because any putt from the wrong tier can often result in a three putt bogey.

It was a middle tier, back right-side pin location playing 192 yards. I hit a high spin fade shot so I opted for my 4 iron and hit what was a perfect shot. It was fading from left to right, I knew it looked good and that it would zip across the green from left to right. Our foursome got a little excited by the look of the shot and as it was zipping across the green my thoughts said if that ball passes the pin and disappears, it’s got to be a hole-in-one. It disappeared and we got really excited but needed to rush up there to check and see. Sure enough, it was in the hole.

Our other foursome behind us and people on the 18th tee and third tee all heard the commotion and it was all very exciting for those who were a part of it.

I was playing with three other members in Olds: Mike Dezall, Mark Schultz and James MacDonald. Hole #13 was 152 yards and I hit a 9 iron. It was a tricky day, there were 35 km winds blowing left to right very slightly helping.

Garfield Moore, Picton Golf and Country Club, Hole #18

The hole-in-one was at the Picton Golf and Country Club on the 18th hole. I used my 6 hybrid and the yardage would have been approximately 160 yards. This is my third ace.

Making a hole-in-one is always a fun experience. This is my fourth time, the other three were at Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Kelowna, B.C.

The 16th hole at the Penticton club is 150 yards and I used a 6 iron. I was playing with my good friend Chris Stodola along with Lawrence and Ken. We celebrated with a shot of “birdie juice”.

I was playing with Al-Karim Moloo and Hussein Bhanji. If I recall correctly, the yardage was lasered at 152 and I hit a 9 iron. I was told we had the loudest hole-in-one in Earl Grey history with our celebration.

As an aside, my first-born daughter started kindergarten the day after my ace, my wife had her academic research published in a scientific journal that same day and we welcome our second daughter exactly one week after the hole-in-one, so it was a very memorable week!

Jen Stocks, The Club at North Halton, Hole #9

I was playing with my three golf friends Alanna, Whitney and Vanessa on our regular ‘Women’s Day’ Tuesday. It was on hole #9, a par 3, and 88 yards. I used my pitching wedge and had a lovely lofty shot over the pond to land about a foot above the pin which then rolled right in. The balcony at our clubhouse was packed as it was around 5:45pm and lots of people had finished their rounds so were able to see it happen. I didn’t really believe it, but the balcony of members and guests cheered and yelled my name. It was pretty great.

Jill Barrigan, Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

I was playing with my husband, Cory Letourneau, and Diane Banman and Al Stafford. I hit my 7 iron, and it was about 105 yards.

It was an amazing September 4th Labour Day Monday. I was playing with Phil Menary, Mike Menary and Jon Tyner. Got the ace on the third hole at the Brampton Golf Club. A 132-yard 9 iron to a slightly elevated green. What a great day!

Joseph MacMullin, North Bellingham Golf Course, Hole #14

I was in a tournament held by the TGA Tour. As you’ve seen it was at North Bellingham Golf Club just south of the border.

We were playing from the blue tees. I was playing in my foursome with Freddy Fredrickson, Chris Wareing and Azi Mohammed. Hole #14 was 121 yards. I used a pitching wedge, and it landed about 15 feet short of the hole and rolled in the left side of the cup. At that point I dropped my club and fell on the ground, covering my face, screaming, “I did it!” I think I can safely say that was the most magical and surreal moment of my life.

Justin Miller, Cattail Crossing Golf and Winter Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother Ben, his friend Luke and my friend Jack. It was a tryout for a highschool golf team. I was using a 7 iron there was a little bit of a back wind and it hit the green and rolled right in.

On Monday, September 4th, I was playing golf with my daughter, Heather Seguin, and two of her friends at the Hollinger Golf Club, my home club. On the 158-yard par 3, 8th hole, which was playing shorter I hit my high lofted (33 degree) hybrid onto the front of the green. Luckily the ball had eyes, and rolled right into the hole, for my first ever hole-in-one. I love golf!

Noah Mugenyi, Dentonia Golf Course, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

I luckily got three holes-in-one at Dentonia Golf Course for the month of August 2023. Occurred on holes #12 (August 3), #10 (August 23) and #18 (August 24).

Also, I can proudly confirm that in just four years of playing and getting into this intriguing and wonderful game; I have registered six holes-in-one.

Percy Clark, Chapples Municipal Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Tony, Paul and Rob who I met at the first tee that day after being paired with them! It was 145 yards to the pin and hit one of the best 9 irons I’ve ever hit. We didn’t see it go in, but Paul was sure it was. Sure enough, he made a beeline for the pin and announced it for the group. As exciting of an achievement as it was, it wasn’t the most exciting of the weekend. The next day, I won the 5th annual “Skatman Invitational”, a yearly tournament played by a group of buddies.

Peter Flemming, Fox Hollow Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It happened on August 29th at the Guelph Country Club. I was playing with Paul Walton, our club pro, and two other members. Our 7th hole was 146 yards that day, so my 6 iron was a good choice!

Robert Macphail, Berwick Heights Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I started golfing in 2019 after my retirement. This was our weekly men’s day at Berwick Heights Golf Club. I was playing with my normal foursome, Tom Goode, Stephen Sangster, John Yuille. The 16th hole is around 160 yards, and I used my 6 iron with a slight breeze from behind. We saw the ball land on the green rolled towards the pin and disappeared, quite a feeling.

Ron Streatch, Craigowan Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Mark Alparan, Nick Weszner and Matt Gibbons. The yardage was 155 into a slight breeze. My 8 iron landed just beyond and to the right of the pin and spun into the hole.

It was the 8th hole, playing 142 yards. While the ball was in the air one of my buddies called it, “that’s going in!” It hit about four feet in front of the hole, bounced once, rolled a little and disappeared into the cup! I was still in disbelief until I got up there and saw the ball at the bottom of the cup!
