Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Have you recently accomplished the feat of a hole-in-one? Tell us about it! Share your story, picture / video and course information with us at holeinone@golfcanada.ca.

Darren Neidig, The Vancouver Golf Club, Hole #7

On July 10th, I achieved the highest honour in golf. On hole #7 at The Vancouver Golf Club, I hit a 6 iron from 166 yards into the hole for my second career hole-in-one. My first hole-in-one was 30 years ago almost to the day. I’m 58 years old now and will continue to strive for my third.

Jordan Di Pietro, Vespra Hills Golf Club, Hole #17

Relatively short par 3, but a very small green. Middle pin, landed about ten feet short of the pin, took two bounces and rolled in! Hit my Titleist Vokey 54 degree wedge. Was playing with Ryan Blake and Trevor Craig.

Clem Pineau, Rideau Lakes Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

In 2014, I took up golf as a member of Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club. In 2017, I had achieved four hole-in-one’s in the span of eight months. At one of them, Brooke Henderson was practicing on our course and she heard the jubilation whereby she signed my scorecard and the golf ball. Brooke made my day even more special. In 2019, took a few years off golfing due other commitments and came back to golf as a full member in 2023.

Now in 2024 I scored my fifth hole-in-one. The shot was taken with a 4 iron on hole #8, keeping the ball low and away from the strong winds that day. This fairway is all downhill with a very obvious left to right green and plays as a 151 yard par 3. This was my second hole-in-one on hole #8.

Dan Hoger, Girouxsalem Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was the first to hit as I was with my wife and step-son. I hit what felt like a really solid shot and as soon as I hit it said to them, “oh that’s money,” to which my step-son replied, “like hole-in-one good?” Then, as we were watching the ball roll he says, “wait I think it might actually go in!” We watched the ball suddenly disappear. We were all kind of in shock and once we realized what happened we all got in our golf carts without them even hitting their tee shots and there the ball was right in the bottom of the hole! It was quite the feeling, one of both joy and disbelief at the same time!

Nancy Dezotell, Murray Municipal Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing in the Murray women’s regular Monday league that day. I used my driver. Scorecard says 134 yards, but it was a blue flag on a very windy day. Was my first hole-in-one.

Paul Rodgers, Purcell Golf, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife and my friend Mike who was visiting us in Kimberley. It was hole #3 of a three round golf weekend. I hit an eight iron from about 164 yards according to my golf watch. Right after I hit it, I jokingly quoted a video Mike had previously sent me of Bubba Watson imitating Patrick Reed during a round, “be the number!” It was a nice high draw, as good as I can hit an eight iron. Hit the front of the green and started moving to the front centre pin and we all watched it drop in the hole for my first ever ace. I just started taking lessons last year and broke 100 for the first time a couple weeks before this so we were all very stunned. Was a great feeling and I was quickly brought back to reality a few holes later when I took an eight on the next par three. Love this game.

Dean Evanger, Derrick Golf & Winter Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an amazing day and we got to celebrate that evening by watching the Oilers beat the Panthers in game six. The dream was still alive! I was playing with Derrick member, David Reynar and a guest, Shawn Hagen. It was on hole #8 from deck two, which was at 142 yards. I used a 9 iron.

Allan Woo, Richmond Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Playing with Rod Yeoh, Jake Silberberg and Ben Chang. Hole #9 at Richmond Country Club. Told Jake I need a birdie to finish the front nine at even par. 8 iron over the left front bunker, kick right and all I thought was my birdie chance. Then it rattled hitting the pin and went in.

Jim Grant, Kelowna Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I have attached a picture above of myself and Ian Dawson who had back to back hole-in-ones on Monday, June 10th at Kelowna Golf and Country Club on hole #17. I got my hole-in-one and then Ian Dawson in the group immediately behind our foursome proceeded to also get a hole-in-one on the same hole #17. Because my hole-in-one went in first, I of course got the closest to the pin on the hole for the day, much to Ian’s disappointment! The hole was playing 136 yards and we both hit 8 irons.

Braun Draper, Elmira Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

Braun Draper, age 14, a member at Elmira Golf Club, hit a hole-in-one on July 23rd on hole #3 in Elmira, Ontario. A par 3, 119 yard beauty. A pitching wedge did the trick. He was golfing with Mason Gruhl, a good friend and a member at the Elmira Golf Club as well.

Sandy Ward, Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the LPGA Amateur’s Trillium Challenge at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club on Monday, July 8th. It was a 27 hole tournament with three different formats of play. We were playing the alternate shot format on The Lakes course. I teed off on hole #7, the flag was 132 yards away and I used my 7 iron. The shot looked good and the ball was coming down right at the flag. Myself and the other members of my group heard the sound of the ball hitting the flag pole, but couldn’t see where the ball came to rest. We thought it was in but we were not certain. As we approached the pin we could see the ball was securely lodged in the hole. Amazing! What an experience!

Tracy Saulnier-Terrio, Clare Golf & Country Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

On Tuesday, July 23, I was playing at Clare Golf & Country Club in a ladies event and in the rain. I teed up on hole #10, 133 yards and a par 3. The hole is narrow off the tee, plays slightly up hill and the pin was on the back so I chose driver. The ball landed right of centre, rolled straight up towards the back reaching the bank side when it began to turn left and roll towards the pin and then it went out of sight. I thought to myself , okay it came to rest and hidden by the pin. As I approached the green, putter in hand and no ball in sight, I thought it must of went off the back but it wasn’t rolling that fast. I should be able to see it. I debated whether to look more but then headed to the pin and there it was, my ball laying in the bottom of that cup! It had banked, took a 90 degree turn to roll down about six feet dropping in the backside of the cup. The entire moment was like it was in slow motion. I love golf every day but this round will be memorable.

Leslie Berman, Batteaux Creek Golf Course , Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one on July 16th while playing at Batteaux Creek Golf Course in Nottawa, Ontario.

Lisa Kovacs, McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ever hole-in-one! It was hole #17 at McKenzie Meadows Golf Club in Calgary on Saturday, July 27 at about 11:00 am. It was a white flag, and I was playing the white tees. It was about 116 yards and I used my pitching wedge. It had rained earlier in the round but by the time we reached hole #17 it was calm and the sun was starting to come out. My husband and the two young men we were paired with all teed off before me with not so good drives. I thought to myself, “I need to show these guys how it’s done,” and I did! I teed off not wanting to hit it long because there’s sand at the back of the green, so I used my pitching wedge. It was a nice drive to the green, straight at the pin. It hit about six feet from the hole and rolled in. Everyone was so excited!

Ken Seim, Peterborough Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

After an approximate one hour delay due to thunderstorms, our next hole was #2, playing about 148 yards that day. Our foursome had been reduced to myself and Doug Gibson. There was still light rain and a steady wind. I hit a three quarter 5 iron to keep it under the wind. We watched one bounce, roll and then the ball disappeared. I stood in disbelief as Doug came over and gave me a high ten. First hole-in-one after 40 years of golf.

Hudson Lockwood, Settlers Ghost, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Hudson Lockwood, 12 years old and an Oakville Golf Club member. Playing in MJT Tournament. Hole #11 at Settlers Ghost. 118 yards.

Shirley Porter, Uplands Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my first ever hole-in-one on Sunday, June 16 on hole #17 at Uplands Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. I’m 75 years old and have been golfing for over 35 years!

John Rousseau, Cutten Fields, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I made a hole-in-one on July 25, 2024, at about 9:30 am on hole #9 at Cutten Fields in Guelph. The hole was playing 140 yards from the blue tee, with a right-to-left wind, and the pin was tucked on the left, behind the left-hand front bunker. I hit an 8 iron at the right edge of the bunker and the wind moved the ball the last couple of yards to the left.

We did not see the ball go in. One of the other guys hit a good shot too. When we got to the green, only one ball was visible, about six feet from the hole. The other fellow looked at it and found it was his ball. I looked at the fringes at the front and back of the green, on my line, but saw nothing. Then I checked the hole and found my ball.
This was my second hole-in-one, with witnesses, and third overall. I have been playing for about 55 years, so they have been few and far between. Helps keep things in perspective and makes one appreciate them!

Ryan Jeffries, Miskanaw Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

After 35 years of dedicated golfing, I finally achieved my first hole-in-one on hole #8 at the Miskanaw Golf Course in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Using a pitching wedge, I perfectly executed the 135 yard shot to a front pin placement while golfing with my favourite life and golf partner, Sara Spears. Here’s to hoping the next one doesn’t take as long!

Scott Farrell, Le Géant, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one at Le Géant in Mont-Tremblant on July 18, 2024. It was on hole #16, using a 7 iron for a 155 yard shot.

Mark Smith, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Got my first hole-in-one on Saturday, July 27 at beautiful Pine Ridge Golf Club. Hit a 9 iron from 140 yards to an uphill green with pin tucked behind left front bunker. Knew it was good but could not see it go in. A calm, sunny beautiful morning made better!

Dale Neubauer, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my fourth hole-in-one yesterday after a 20 year wait from my third one. It happened on hole #16 at Mount Brenton Golf Course in Chemainus, B.C. I used an eight iron which I also used for my first two aces. I nice high shot which tracked to the hole and three of us got to see it drop. The feeling was as good as the first time. I hope every golfer gets to experience that same feeling after getting one.

Tom Walsh, Pitcher Pond Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

Had my first hole-in-one on Saturday, June 27th at Pitcher Pond Golf Course. Hole #7, 125 yards from the whites.

Joyce Chau, Talon Country Hill Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I scored a hole-in-one on my home course at Talon Country Hill Golf Course. It was an inter club match play. On hole #4, the distance was 118 yards and wind was slightly against. I used my 8 iron and the ball travelled exactly the way I anticipated. It landed about eight feet short and roll straight to the hole until it disappeared. All four players witnessed and it was an ecstatic experience. This is my first hole-in-one.

Rick Legge, HeatherGlen Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt
It was my fourth full round of golf since having brain surgery on May 23 this spring. Actually the first few games afterwards went pretty well, as I wasn’t trying to kill the ball every swing. Today started pretty poorly as I couldn’t hit anything straight. Got a little better on the back but then I tripled hole #15, a kind of goofy 90 degree dogleg left and bogeyed hole #16 with a ball in the water.
I got to the 17th tee, checked the yardage at 132 and thought I better hit a solid 8 iron. I decided then to pull out my 7 iron (favourite club) and just swing easy. The ball flight was right at it and I yelled, “hit the pin,” even though I lost the ball after it hit the green. I just turned 71 in June so my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Well, I got to the green and checked all around the back as I thought it was probably too much club. And thought, “just go and look.” There it was Taylormade #1 looking right back at me. One of the best days of my life. My wife Lorie went nuts, yelling and cheering. There was some tears for sure.

Howie Kotzer, Richmond Hill Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I just got my first hole-in-one July 22nd. It was 154 yards during our mens league at Richmond Hill Golf Club. It was also the closest to the pin hole to boot. Using my 7 iron I knew it was a good shot. I just wanted to get on the green. One younger guy with better eyes said, “I think that’s a hole-in-one.” The other younger guy said, “it’s definitely a hole-in-one I was watching the ball and then it disappeared.” I was very excited but didn’t want to celebrate until I confirmed the ball was in the hole. No better feeling than looking in the cup and seeing your ball in the cup for a hole-in-one! A very happy golfer!

Greg Percy, McCall Lake Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 155 yards into the wind on the par 3 hole #8 from the blue tees, I used an old 6 iron ping eye (30 year old club or more), it wasn’t a drop and roll into the cup, it was a bomb hop right in front of the pin. It was my first one. My brother found a Titleist Pro V1 the previous hole and my first Pro V1 shot of the day, I teed it up and it was a gem.

Charlie MacPhee, Hampton Golf Club , Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

Special week for my best friend Charlie MacPhee. Charlie recorded his first ever hole-in-one on the tedious hole #10 at the beautiful Hampton Golf Club in Hampton, N.B. We zapped 176 yards playing approximately 20 yards downhill, into a howling wind. The ball was struck as good as one could strike it. As soon as the ball made contact with the face of his 8 iron, we knew it was good. However with the sun glaring in our face, we could not see it down. We walk down the hill, anticipating to find the ball in the middle of the green, maybe even a tad short. To our surprise, no ball in sight. Charlie proceeds to browse around the back of the green. It was at this moment when Taylor noticed his pitch mark on the green, and screamed, “check the hole!” There in was, incredible moment. Couldn’t have happened to a better person. Go Charlie go!

Taylor Roberts, on behalf of Charlie MacPhee

Janice Hull, Golden Eagle Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I just had a hole-in-one at Golden Eagle Golf Course, North Course, in Pitt Meadows, B.C. The ladies of Carnoustie Golf Course were playing team play against Golden Eagle, Tuesday August 6th, 2024! I landed the green on hole #14 and it continued to roll from left to centre and fell into the hole! Hard to believe until I actually got to the green and saw it in the hole! Very exciting and I had three witnesses! I am from Maple Ridge, B.C. I have been a member of the RCGA since July 27, 2001 and a member of Carnoustie Golf Club since 1996!

Paul Allen, Sand Point Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 6 iron, the ball stayed on line directly at the hole and it rolled right into the cup. It was a thing of beauty. I was in a foursome and we all enjoyed the shot! We pinged the distance at 148 yards before teeing off. Very exciting, as always, but I’m a bit spoiled as that was my fifth hole-in-one and the second time for this hole #11 in two seasons. Last year’s ace was struck left to right and was a lucky bounce from an embarrassing roll onto the green. This year’s hole-in-one was a more pure stroke, alas, luck again. Sincerely more proud of this one.

The other three hole-in-one’s came as follows, one in Florida and two at a course where I taught physical education as a much younger golfer in Petrolia, Ontario. I’ve been playing golf for a long time but at the age of 82, it’s still a thrill to see the ball disappear into the hole rather than into the woods or plunk into a pond. Keep swinging y’all.

Alan Gray, Black Diamond Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Dave Pyper, Alan Kerr and Liam O’Kane. The yardage was approximately 179, I used a 4 hybrid.

Johnna Cyr, Ranch Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband Mike and a couple we were paired with. It was hole #3 at the Ranch Golf & Country Club. Yardage was 90 and I used my 7 iron.

Martin Croteau, Wintergreen Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with a long time friend Chad VanBuuren (also Golf Canada member) and it was a 154 yard shot to a middle flag. I used a pitching wedge, great feeling!

Russ Glowinski, The Pulpit Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one on July 3 at The Pulpit Club, Paintbrush Course hole #7 , which was playing 163 yards into the wind, club used was a Ping 425 5 rescue and ball used Titleist Pro V1. Played with Brett Bandula, Dustin Clarke and Sam Reznick. This also was on Men’s night. This also was my seventh career hole-in-one.

Reg Finlayson, The Club at North Halton, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I had mine on July 4th men’s day at The Club at North Halton with a 9 iron from 115 yards. My partners were Don Curry, Barry Shepherd and Dennis Pippo. It was my 13th and I am 83. I have been playing the game for 75 years and they are always a surprise since it really is a lucky shot. This is the first time the ball landed directly in the hole rather than rolling in as they did before. Amazingly I have been fortunate to witness probably over 25 of them playing with people who holed out. It is always a pleasure seeing their reactions.

Lori Madill, The Club at North Halton, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 125 yards and I used my new 7 wood from left to right. Played with Shelley Phipps, Maureen Johnson and Ellen Carter.

Esther Chan, Mylora on Sidaway, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

Indeed it was my best day of golf. My first hole-in-one having been golfing since 2014. I wouldn’t consider myself a great golfer, but it was a lucky day for me. I was in a foursome with the ladies from Mylora ladies club. It was a beautiful day and I used a fairway wood for 133 yards on hole #5. I hit my ball onto the green and it started to roll slowing towards the hole, and that was it!

Gary Little, Glencairn Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was about 137 yards, a little breeze behind us and I hit a nine iron. I hit the ball to the right side of the pin, green had a little slope from right to left and the ball hit on the right side and rolled right into the hole. The one fellow I was playing with had never had a hole-in-one and that was the first one he had ever seen which made it special for me and for him.

Rick Thornton, Landings Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on the par 3, hole #15 which on this day measured 126 yards. I struck my Callaway HEX 3 ball with a choked up 3 wood that landed short of the cup and rolled up and what I thought was around the flag. But both of my golfing partners John Whitehill, a fellow member and his friend Mark started congratulating me. A 29 year dream finally answered.

Gord Van Clieaf, Hockley Valley Resort, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a Member, and currently have a Golf Canada handicap of 3.6. I am a longtime member of Silver Brooke Golf Club in Lisle, Ontario. It’s a lovely little championship length course, with the front nine carved through a forest and subdivision with most of the holes heavily wooded, and a back nine more links style in design. Head Greenskeeper Jeff has our greens as pristine as any you will play. I have the honour of holding the course record from both the Blue and Silver tees at the Course, shooting 65 from each.

Our head golf professional is Billy Longhurst, a wonderful young man and brand new father. Billy’s golf cleats have barely touched the ground since his baby boy Wellington entered the world two weeks ago and what a name this future golf pro will have, Wellington Longhurst. I can hear the BBC commentator reciting it now, during a final round of an Open Championship.

On August 10, 2024, Billy invited friend and co-Silver Brooke member Matt Martin and me to join him for a game at the Hockley Valley Resort in Mono, Ont. It’s a Tom McBroom designed beauty, with incredible elevation changes and magnificent views. There isn’t one sand bunker on the property, nor do any of the holes allow for a run-up opportunity to the green. I had played the course about 25 years ago, but had forgotten how spectacular it was in challenge and design. But then, most days I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.

Because of my advancing age (I’ll be turning 68 in a few weeks) and my having Stage 4 Metastasized Melanoma with Cancer tumours in the bones of both shoulders, I’ve lost about 40 – 50 yards off the tee and now need to play a different game than I was used to playing. But feeling truly blessed every single day that I can still play this wonderful game that I love, knowing that I can lose that at any moment. I’m sure that it was with this in mind that Billy, god bless him, had us playing the gold tees at Hockley Valley (5847 yards) rather than the tips (6358 yards).

My hole-in-one that day is actually a pretty good story. By the time we reached the 12th tee, Billy was having a decent day, launching rockets off the tees and throwing darts into several of the greens. Matt is a good player, but his driver wasn’t cooperating too much for him. The 12th from the gold tees measures 196 yards, but with a slope reading of about 178 yards because of it being significantly downhill. It’s a lovely hole, and one of the signature holes at the course. August 10th was a very windy day in the area. It was a two club wind most of the day, gusting to a three club wind on occasion. On the 12th, it was a true headwind. We had to wait on the tee about seven or eight minutes for the group in front to clear the green, and while we were waiting I asked my pro a rules question that I had been asked earlier in the week by another member that I wasn’t sure of the answer to. I’m usually pretty knowledgeable about the Rules of Golf, but had never been asked this one before. The question was, does a player invoke a penalty if they inadvertently or intentionally walk through or brush their club onto or into a sand trap, even though their ball is not resting in a sand trap? Would it be considered testing the sand, which the player might put to use later in their round if they found themself in a sand trap and now had some knowledge of sand conditions that day at the course?

It was while we were discussing this question that I all of a sudden realized that the hybrid 3 I had in my hand wouldn’t be sufficient to reach the green due to the severity of the headwind. Just as the group in front cleared the green, I said to the boys, “this isn’t enough club,” and went back to my bag for my 3 wood. I was fortunate enough to hit several quality shots that day, but the 3 wood from the 12th tee was pure. It covered the flag the entire way, and while it was in the air I thought to myself, “good job Gordie.” Which is much better than the, “what a bum” thought I get more and more often these days.

Even with wearing glasses, my failing eyesight didn’t allow me to see the ball land, but Matt immediately said “I think that’s in, I’m pretty sure that went in.” Billy said, “I think so too.” I was less committal, saying that I had hit it good and it was probably close. After Matt and Billy hit, with Billy putting it pin high about ten feet away, we raced our carts to the green. I hate cart golf and walk always at Silver Brooke because it’s good for my health even though it usually exhausts me, but Hockley Valley is not walkable. When we reached the green, we could see only one ball that we knew was Billy’s. I can truthfully say that I’ve never seen Billy move as fast as he did when he left his cart and literally ran down the hill until he got to the green, walked over to the flag, looked inside, and raised his arms and shouted in celebration. I was sincerely thankful for the joy that Matt and Billy displayed, I’ll remember it all of my life. Without me asking, Billy, the consummate professional, took my picture and drove back to the tee to take a photo of the hole and the hole signage. He really is something, and the best pro Silver Brooke could ever wish for. For me, I was certainly very happy about the hole-in-one. It was my third, but the last one was about 35 years ago. Truthfully, I was more focused on the fact that the eagle had brought me back to even par for the round, and I’m happy to say that I finished the round one under. And beat my pro, which is a very rare feat.

I detest slow play, and we always play ready golf at Siver Brooke. But on this one occasion only, I’m so glad for the wait we had on the 12th tee. If not for the wait, and me having an epiphany about proper club selection, I’d have hit my hybrid 3, been 20 yards short of the green, and you’d never have heard from me.

Sheila May, The Glencoe Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

It was a very exciting third hole-in-one! I used an 8 iron as it was over two sand traps and the distance was 80 yards. It hit the flagstick on the fly and dropped straight in. I was playing with Barb and Robin Landes, friends for many years. I am a high handicapper and my mother who turned 93 on this day, made it extra special! When I phoned her for her birthday wishes, she replied, “I hope you get a hole-in-one today.” How crazy that it came true. I just finished volunteering at the CPKC Tournament and thoroughly enjoyed selling the 50/50 tickets to support the First Tee program! I would have taken it up much earlier in life, had it been available for me. I have only had the $10 city of Calgary lessons in my early 20’s.

Phillip Tsiaras, Mill Run Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

First round of the Mill Run Club Championships. I was playing with Matt Whitehead and Tyson Bruce. We were on hole #14 of the round, on Grist #5. The hole was playing 188 yards into the wind. The club that I used was a 6 iron. I hit baby cut and the pin was tucked front right so I didn’t see it go in. When I walked up to the green I thought I went long but sure enough it was right in the hole!

Logan Dickinson, Elmira Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

Last Friday was the last day of my school placement at a physiotherapy clinic in Elmira, as I am currently a physical therapy student. I was golfing with my two clinical instructors and another student from the clinic after work as a celebration of the end of the placement term. It was on #6 at the Elmira golf club, a par 3 where my finder was reading 176 yards. I hit my 6 iron and the ball came down on the approach cut dead centre in front of the green and rolled on. The ball took a left at the hole and looked like it had gone just long and eclipsed behind the pin. We didn’t know it had gone in until we got up to the green and the ball was nowhere to be found! I have attached the picture of myself with the ball on the green below.

Zack Cameron, Legacy Ridge Golf Club, Hole #2

155 yards into the wind with a 9 iron and hit a little draw. Playing with my dad. First hole-in-one.

Sean Kelly, Innisfail Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I had about 178 yards into the wind. I chose to hit a 6 iron. I was playing with a co-worker which I asked him to go out and play a practice round for the Canadian Junior. I hit the ball with my natural cut that I’ve been working on at and it was tracking the entire way. We chuckled as we thought that it had a chance of going in. When we got up to the hole I didn’t see any white balls on the green which had my heart racing. As I peeked down into the hole I saw my ball at the bottom!

Andrew Waltho, Greystone Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my partner Mariska Peries, who birdied the hole for a combined three. It was the red pin tucked behind the front left bunker playing 127 yards. I used my pitching wedge that one hopped into the cup. We both saw it go in and were in shock and disbelief. Making it very impressive that she was able to step up afterwards and knock one to about four feet. It was the first ace I’ve ever made playing golf for over 25 years. I had never even witnessed one actually happen either. Very exciting.

Jerry Beniuk, Royal Westmorland, Hole #3

We were enjoying a wonderful golf vacation at Royal Westmorland, Barbados where we golfed many times onsite plus a round at Sandy Lane and Apes Hill. Simply wonderful golf courses to experience. May 20th on hole #3, I was fortunate to have a hole-in-one. It was a spectacular highlight to add to my trip and something I’ve not achieved in the 40+ years of golfing. I can’t wait until I have another great shot that happens when I’m golfing with my friends. It was 156 yards from the white tees. I used a 6 iron and was golfing with Chris Wynter, Mike Chase and Tef Kalaparambath.

Dana Segin, Flamborough Hills Golf Club, Hole #5

I got it on Woods hole #5 (174 yards). I played with Ted Maniacco and Dwayne Frewin, all of us members at Flamborough Hills.

Lynn McAdam, Lake Joseph Golf Club, Hole #4

It was a very exciting day for us! I was at a Clublink course called The Lake Joseph Club in Muskoka where we are members. It was a cloudy and very buggy day so I think that with swatting away the black flies I didn’t overthink my swing and the moons aligned for a hole-in-one. It was hole #4, 115 yard par 3 and I used my recovery club. At first we watched the ball land and roll, but the clink of it hitting the pin was our first sign that it went in! I was with my husband, Peter McAdam, who also got his first hole in one in Florida earlier this year. We were also playing with our good friends Neil and Lisa Skelding. They both belong to the hole-in-one club as well. I was the last to join!

Ben Fowke, Timberwood Golf Club, Hole #13

It was 159 yards with a 9 iron.

Thomas Beneteau, Port Hope Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

I was playing with my two brothers Peter and Stephen Beneteau. It was 133 yard pitching wedge and it one hopped in.

Larry Freedman, Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

White flag, centre pin, 135 yards and used an 8 iron. Witnessed by Nick Pugliese and Scott Parkinson. Upon arriving at the pin and confirming my ball, a Titelist Pro V1 with three blue dots was in the hole! Woo hoo!

Rocco Zito, Hylands Golf Club, Hole #12

To elaborate further on my first hole-in-one ever, I must mention how the decision was made to go out and play on Saturday. Originally, my foursome had an early morning tee time, 7:27 am, to ensure we could complete the round before the Euro 2024 match between Italy and Switzerland. Yes, we are Italian and huge soccer fans. Well, the rain was too much and our early morning round was cancelled. This left us to watch the noon round of 16 match at a local sports bar. Due to the very poor play from Italy, we asked for our bill and left in disgust. A text was sent out to the foursome asking if we should go out to play golf. Observing the local weather radar on my mobile phone, close to 3:00 pm gave us the best opportunity to get a round in with very little to no rain.

Before going further the names of our foursome are Aladino Grieco, Carm Romano, Hector Campagna and myself. We have known one another for several years and play together at least two to three times a week including mens night.

Now at the Hylands, where it looks like a ghost town due to the weather, we checked in, got on our power carts and began to play. We chose to play the white/green tees on the North Course which runs about 6000 yards. Played a decent front nine, making the turn, I bogey hole #10 and hole #11. We reach hole #12, Aladino scopes it for yardage, stating it is 140 yards from the green tee box to the white flag between the bunkers on the green. Grabbed my 6 hybrid and head to tee box, leaving the tee higher than usual, on the left side of the green there are two bunkers with a small gap in between, I setup take a couple of practice swings and then hit my shot. The ball is travelling from left to right in between the bunkers and hits the green, bounces forward and then I lost sight of the ball. I look at the boys and say I think it went in the hole. Everyone being excited we get in our carts and head to the green. This is where Aladino begins filming the drive to the green. Once there I am walking in front of the group to the pin, slow down look in and wow! We all jumped up for joy! Carm actually bear hugged me and picked me up over his head. I needed to mention it because if Italy played better I would have not gone to play. Actually I did leave out while on the tenth tee box the boys and I were talking about an amateur playing in the senior U.S. Open having two aces back-to-back which has never been done, I think.

Kent McVeigh, Southampton Golf & Country Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an exciting moment, waiting 50 years to get the monkey off my back. I was golfing with fellow member Ron Wilson. It was accomplished on hole #18, 185 yards with a driver.

Kathy Banfield, Squamish Valley Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Friday, June 21st, hole #11, 122 yards and club was a 6 iron. Playing with my husband Jay and another member Wilder. I also had a hole-in-one on Sunday, May 12th at Kings Links by the Sea in Delta. Hole #15, 80 yards, pitching wedge. Playing with my husband Jay, his brother Darin and my nephew Damon. I have played golf for 50 years and have not had a hole-in-one, then I have one on May 12th and another on June 21st. Hopefully things really do come in three’s.

Stan Nickle, Vernon Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #14, par 3, lasered out to 174 yards. Used my trusty 7 iron. Hit front left of the green and rolled across to the pin. Witnessed by Steve and Velda Desrocher and Gillian Gibson. My first hole-in-one and I expect to chase my second for the rest of my golfing life.

Warren Jack, Bootleg Gap Golf, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on the trip to Cranbrook from Calgary that was arranged by a friends pro from Mayfair Golf Club in Vancouver. It was around 3:15 pm, the hole is on the side of a mountain so you really have to hit to the far right side to keep it on the green. The pin was behind a bunker that we scoped at 150 yards, a bit down hill, a little wind in our face. I hit a 7 iron as I didn’t want to be short and end up in the bunker. I was playing with a group of friends that I golf with in Calgary. The staff at Bootleg was awesome, gave me the flag and I had the guys all sign it with me. First one ever.

Craig Carefoot, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on hole #16 at Gorge Vale and I believe the yardage was about 155. I’m not saying what club I used as I don’t hit it very far! My playing partner Brandon Ellis hit it within a foot just before me, so I followed his lead and hit the back upper part of the green and let it roll down into the hole. It was a little difficult to tell from the tee box as we weren’t sure if the flag was in the way or there was something else that was preventing us from seeing. The boys let me go to the green first and sure enough I discovered it in the hole! I think they were more excited than I was.

Eric Gu, Thornhill Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife, Carrie Song, who is a beginner. I was there to help her get familiar with the course in preparation for inviting her friends to play next week.

At the second hole, approximately 100 yards, I used my Taylormade Stealth iron A wedge (50 degrees) to hit the ball. It landed on the fringe to the left of the green, on higher ground and then rolled all the way across to drop into the hole on the far right of the green.

Mason Landry, Firerock Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was using a pitching wedge from 134 yards.

Mike Corcoran, St. Catherines, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Third hole-in-one on hole #12 since joining the club in 2011.

Susan Hatfield, Twin Lakes Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a short par 3, 105 yards and I used an 8 iron. I was golfing with two friends Connie Felton and Anne Conquergood. I have to admit it was a fun thing to have happen on Canada Day!

Sheelagh Byrne, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m so excited about my first hole-on-one! I’ve been playing for almost 15 years and I’m 71 years young! I used a Taylor Made Sim 6 iron and a Taylormade ball as well.

It was on the 13th hole at Watson’s Glen in Ajax, Ontario. It is a short par 3, with the pin at the front. My GPS showed 94 yards to the front. I decided with the wind that I would use my 6 iron. Generally too much club for the distance but I thought with the strong wind why not try it.

It was tracking beautifully but there were reeds in front and I couldn’t see the end of the shot. My two friends and LPGA Amateur members (Durham Region Chapter) Jennifer and Trish could see it. I asked if I was okay. Jennifer was trying to find her words and kept saying, “I, um, I, um..” So I said, “oh no, did it go off the green?” Jennifer finally said, “I think it went in the hole!”

We got in our carts and zoomed up to the green. I could see a ball to the left and said, “oh that’s probably mine.” She said, “no, for sure that’s mine.” Jennifer ran up to the cup and said “oh my, it’s really there!” I was right behind her and looked in the cup with absolute amazement!

What followed was pure joy, lots of screaming and dancing! What a fabulous feeling! One I will not soon forget!

Mel (R) Woodman, Blomidon, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It is actually the second and I was lucky enough to get one. It happened on hole #3 at Blomidon Golf Club in our Beautiful City of Corner Brook, N.L. I was playing with my son-in-law James Curran, my great friend Fred Welsh and another great friend Dave Parsons. Fred, incredibly also had a hole-in-one on this same hole. I used my Taylormade M6 Driver as the course was very wet and the hole was 211 yards long. I was hitting a Titleist Pro V1x that hit just short and bounced on and tracked straight to the hole.

David Bourada, Marshes Golf Club (The), Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was Marshes hole #8, I was with my dad, Steve Bourada and two friends, Scott and Lewis Miller. 133 yards, hit a knock down pitching wedge, spun back four feet into the cup. This was my second hole-in-one in the past three years which was amazing. I’d just gone through major abdominal surgery and the hole-in-one came on exactly eight weeks post-op and my second round of the year.

Ron MacLaren, Perth Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I play golf three times a week. On Tuesdays, I play with a bunch of other seniors, many of whom I’ve known since high school. On June 25th, I was in a foursome with some of these fellows when I had my hole-in-one. It was the par 3, hole #15 at the Perth Golf Course playing 130 yards in length. I was using a 6 iron. I’m now 70 years old and this was my third lifetime hole-in-one.

Garry McAninch, St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

After years of hoping for one and had recently given up hope, I finally got my first hole-in-one on June 20, 2024! I was playing with my usual weekday reprobates Jim Keast, Michael Harding and Al Girotti. I played a 6 iron on hole #14 playing 167 yards to a back pin. The ball rolled up towards the flag and appeared to have rolled directly past the hole and disappeared off the back of the green. Apparently not! It was a great experience!

Kim Blake, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

As a long time member at Whitevale Golf Club I recorded my second hole-in-one on hole #14 on June 26, 2024. Playing with my buddies Bob Nebel, Dennis Matton and Steve Rodriguez, the hole measures 161 yards from the blue tees. I knew when I struck the shot, that it was a well hit 6 iron which landed on the front of the green, bounced a few times then disappeared! One of the benefits of membership is that we have hole-in-one insurance which covers $400 at the bar, which no doubt gets used up at Whitevale on a busy Wednesday afternoon! Another benefit is a preferential parking spot until the next hole-in-one.

Aidan Bent, Berwick Heights Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

This was on hole #16. I hit a 8 iron and it was 142 yards away.

Eric Dibben, Hinton Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing at Hinton Golf Club while camping with my brother, dad and cousin. It was a 120 yard hole and I used my 52 degree approach wedge. It was my first time hitting the club that day as well. This is a photo from the tee box as I didn’t wait for anyone else to hit out of excitement.

Cheryl Laird, Kananaskis Country Golf Course, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Abby Laird, Marilyn Scott and Joan White. We were on a girls golf get away for a couple days. I played a soft 9 iron on hole #6 as the hole was 99 yards from the tees we were playing.

Shirley Dewar, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Joan McLeod and Sasha Basic, both members at Pheasant Glen. The pin was at the back of the green at approximately 145 yards and because I am 84 years old I had to use my driver. I had a hole-in-one on the same hole in 2013, I was a little younger then and only used a 9 wood!

Donna Luiten, Riverside Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with my husband, Roly and another couple from Riverside playing a couples match. It was hole #17, 108 yards and I used an 8 hybrid. The best part was we had been down in the match since the first hole, my hole-in-one made it the first hole we were up one. Managed to sink a putt on hole #18 to halve the hole and win the match. Fun day!

John McCrea, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with Tom Enright, Boyd Penny and Brian Foss. The yardage was 137 and I used my Ping G25 hybrid 30 degree.

Candi Munroe, Glen Arbour Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Wanda Murphy, Carolyn James and Marilyn Pound. Hole #2 that day was 88 yards and I got the hole-in-one with my 7 iron.

Dwayne Farlin, The Falls Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The Falls Golf Course in Chilliwack, B.C. on hole #4. Card says 186 yards to the centre, but the hole was straight downhill and was playing about 147 yards to the pin at the front of the green. Large par 3 green. Pitching wedge about four feet past the cup and had a little spin to come back into the hole. Playing with Paul Laurillard, Brad Johnston and Shawn McLeod.

Rose Davidson, Oakfield Golf and Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #15 at Oakfield Golf and Country Club. My playing partners were Gordon and Joanne Weldin. The hole is 113 yards from the red tees and I used a 9 iron. Above is a picture Joanne took of me holding the lucky ball. It was my fourth hole-in-one. I’ve had three at Oakfield hole #5, #13 and #15. I also had one at the Clare Golf and Country Club hole #10.

Bill Stewart, Cedar Brae Golf Clube, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

Playing with fellow members Mike Lacroix who took the photo, new member Alan Lennox and men’s captain Scott MacKenzie, I finally got in the hole-in-one club. I have witnessed many hole-in-one’s over the years including a memorable one playing with the legendary Moe Norman in a pro-am at The Bay of Quinte Golf Club in Belleville. I’ve been a member at Cedar Brae Golf Club in Toronto for over 35 years and thought my chances were fading away. It was at the second hole playing 163 yards using my 4 rescue club on Wednesday in our men’s day weekly competition. We never saw the ball go into the hole which is the reason I had my putter when Mike took the photo. It actually was one of my better rounds scoring 82, of course the hole-in-one helped!

Steven Scott, Canmore Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a fantastic experience.

Doug Ibbotson, Port Dover Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 118. I used Taylormade MG3 50 degree wedge with TP5 ball. My playing partners were Carl Barath, Dave Smith and Reg Schweyer.

Ed Murphy, Sundre Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We played the blue tees at Sundre so #17 was 105 yards. I used a 54-degree wedge. My friends Lee Raine and Tracy Beamer were playing with me.

Bob Kushnir, Weston Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Chris Fraracci and Harry Wylie.

The shot was about 146 yards, hole was near the back of the green and tee was placed a bit back to slightly lengthen the hole. It was Chris who said he saw the ball go in the hole, I thought, “no, can’t be,” it probably rolled past into the rough just beyond. Chris insisted I was wrong. I first checked the bunker behind the hole, then the strip of rough between the green and the bunker, then finally slowly walked to the flag to find the ball in the hole. Chris was right.

It was my smoothest 7 iron of the day – nice high ball flight with a slight draw, a single bounce, then trickle into the cup. I won’t forget this for a long time.

Benson Lilly, Picton Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was certainly exciting to get my first hole-in-one at the age of 76. My playing partners were Picton Golf Club members, Bob Fujiki, Jean Theoret and Brian Lackey. The hole was #14 a par 3, playing 163 yards into the wind. I used a Taylor Made R-7 rescue #4 and crushed the ball high into the wind. It appeared to be headed for the flag but I thought that I had hit it long so I approached with a wedge and putter. There was no ball just off the back of the green so I sheepishly walked back to the hole and looked in. Voila! There was my ball.

Fred Edwards, Cardinal Lakes Gold Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

My husband, Fred Edwards, made a hole-in-one at Cardinal Lakes Gold Club in Welland, Ontario. It was on hole #6 with an 8 iron Witnessed by myself, Margaret Edwards, and our friends Gail Halsall and Carol Bryan. We are all members at Cardinal Lakes and members of Golf Canada.

Craig Machel, Summit Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

A very exciting day it was on Friday June 28, 2024. I used a 7 iron from 160 yards out, choked down 7 iron to be precise. My foursome included Kathryn Hunter, Brian and Gerry Matheson.

Gregg Hook, McCleery Public Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

When I made the hole-in-one I was playing with Bruce Kennedy, Dave Marr and Roger Barnes. The yardage was 161 and I used a 4 hybrid for the shot.

Darren King, Whispering Winds of Warren, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son David, his girlfriend Anna and my wife Lesley were along for the walk. It was hole #2 a 132 yard par 3. I used an 8 iron, one hop and it rolled in. I couldn’t really see it, but my wife and son said for sure it rolled in. I was in disbelief, until I walked up and sure enough, in the cup!

Gerard Chiasson, Wyndance Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Wyndance Golf Club, hole #12 and 160 yards. Club used was a 9 iron. Played with Stephen Niles, Gilbert Kee and Chris Neilson.

Kathy Mercier, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

This event was so much pure luck. It was our club Ladies Day. I was playing with Karen Niven, Terri McDonald and Barb Ross. We were on hole #10, It was a white flag and I can’t remember the yardage. I used a 7 wood as it is all carry and I wanted to make sure I got on the green. The light was such that we saw the ball land, but then lost it. I thought it had gone off the back of the green so took my lob wedge with my putter to go look for my ball. Terri said it didn’t have enough energy to go off the back of the green and that I should look in the hole. “Right,” I said, “wouldn’t you laugh!” Then I looked in the hole on my way by and there was my ball! Boy, did we all laugh! It was very exciting as I am not a very good golfer (verified by my handicap), proving the golf gods do have a sense of humor!

Susan White, Crown Isle Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m Susan White and on a golf trip to Vancouver Island with good friends I got my second hole-in-one. It was on hole #16 at Crown Isle. I just hit a nice soft 9 iron in and watched it role in.

Pat Andruschuk, Copper Point Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband, sister and her husband at Copper Point Ridge on June 24, 2024. Hole #15 with 123 yards up hill. I do not play this course often but enough I knew the hole plays long so I used my #5 hybrid. I made a good drive which landed and kept rolling right into the hole. The best part of the hole-in-one was having my family there to witness it.

Hilary Cameron, Midland Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a group of my neighbours which included Bonnie Monk, Deb Austin and Nadine Latham. When I used my rangefinder before the shot I believe it had said it was 102 yards and I chose to use my 8 iron because it was into a strong headwind!

Julie Neault, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with my friend and industry colleague. It was an 85 yard par 3 and I used my pitching wedge.

Travis Byspalko, Priest Lake Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my second career hole-in-one and certainly my favourite. 11 of my closest friends host an annual three day golf tournament every year. My foursome was in the middle group. The yardage was 138, I hit a pitching wedge that landed about ten feet long and spun back in the hole!

Charlie Keeling, Royal Mayfair Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #8 at the Royal Mayfair Golf club. My friend Kobee and I were playing on the first day of summer. I hit an 8 iron from 174 yards over a bunker and it fell into the hole. The whole time I had no idea whether or not the ball was in the hole as the bunker blocked our sight of view. But as we ran up to the hole we only saw one ball on the green with mine being right in the cup.

Funny enough, nine days later on Friday July 5th, it was hole #4 at Leduc Golf Club on a hole that played 171 yards. I was playing with my brother and two other friends when I hit my 7 iron right on target and we saw the ball disappear right in line of the pin. At first we thought it was the shade covering our view but as we got closer and closer we realized it went in! So for the second time in two weeks I aced it!

Johanna Price, Muirfield Lakes Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It happened on May 18, 2024 at approximately 1:05 pm on hole #3 at Muirfield Lakes Golf Club. The weather that day was cloudy and cool. I was golfing with my girlfriends Kathy, Lori and Carla. We were playing from the red tee boxes that day. The pin was 98 yards away. I used my 9 iron Ping Rapture. The ball I used was a yellow Taylormade Distance.

Shelagh Pepper, Vespra Hills Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with two friends, Anne and Beth. The normal chatting was occurring, we play ready golf and we don’t always stay in a “correct” order, but we are definitely encouraging to each other. It is a par 3. I hit the ball with the same club I always do, a 7 iron, and none of us saw it land. It usually lands on the green if it is a reasonable shot. The other two hit and we walked up. I didn’t see my ball on the green, not in the trap to the right but I found it just beyond the green, guess it was a long hit that day. I chipped my ball on, walked up and was marking it. Just as I was marking it, I noticed it wasn’t my ball and at the same time my playing partner Beth was removing the pin and said there was a ball in the hole! The three of us laughed and enjoyed some drinks after, all in all a great day!

Cooper Cecile, Pointe West Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two friends on a Friday afternoon after work! The yardage to the flag was 125 yards into the wind! I hit a flighted 9 iron that landed five paces long of the hole and spun back into it! It was so cool seeing it disappear! But still did not think it happened until we got up to the green!

James Giffen, Capilano Golf & Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my Dad, Frank Giffen, Charles Chang a very good friend and my coach, Ronnie McCann from Orlando, who had just flown in. It was awesome to have him here as we have been working together for an a while now and we kept on talking about making an hole-in-one.

I hit a 9 iron from 116 yards. It took one bounce and rolled about five feet into the bottom of the hole.
As soon as the ball hit the bottom of the hole, I threw off my hat and started running around the tee box in circles. Once I managed to settle down, it dawned on me what I had just accomplished.

I realized that this was an incredible milestone in my life and I will never forget this moment. I have been playing since I was five years old and this was one of the biggest achievements in my career so far. I was wearing my Whoop on that day and my heart rate went from 88 to 153 beats per minute during this time period.

Bob Hall, Granite Pointe, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a rare outing because my daughter was back in Nelson on a break from her studies at the University of Victoria. It was a day that my wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, so we played an afternoon round before a family dinner with the aforementioned 23 year old daughter and our 25 year old son. All my family loves the sport, so it was a perfect day at Granite Pointe. I had actually been playing rather poorly the week before.

I hover around a five to six index, but wasn’t feeling the game that day. But when I stepped up to the fourth hole which is a slightly elevated green, I pulled out an 8-iron for the 155 yard shot. I struck it well and knew it was good and heading straight for the flag. Because we could not see the putting surface, I was just happy that I’d likely have a birdie putt. When we got up for the green and I didn’t see the ball within 10 feet, I first figured that a gopher must have got it. But then another option occurred to me. When I went to the hole, there was the Titleist!

The family cheered and then we all laughed! That was my fourth hole-in-one in my life, all since 2017. I’m out there a lot, so it seems like math more than anything. This was by far the most memorable one because it was done with my family on a special anniversary day. It was awesome to experience that with them. We all feel fortunate to have our lovely community golf course in such a spectacular mountain location. Every day out there is a gift and a hole-in-one is simply icing on the cake!

Peter Chen, GreenTee Golf Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three other Golden Bear teammates of mine in preparation for an upcoming competition on the same course. I wished the hole-in-one had happened during the tournament, but I’ll take it anytime. It was 140 yards into the wind with a 9 iron and it was a one hopper and disappeared. We actually let a twosome play through and they were kind enough to take a group photo for us.

The hole-in-one was my first and it was 23 years after my wife got hers. I have been waiting for a long time and now I finally have a hole-in-one golf ball right next to hers.

Ken McKenzie, Lora Bay Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve played golf for close to 60 years and haven’t had an hole-in-one. I’ve holed out several times on par 4’s and have eagled a number of times on par 5’s but this is by far more exciting. I was playing with Dan Kelly and John Strickland. I hit an 8 iron 135 yards and it took one bounce and in. My last goal in golf is shoot my age. One happy relieved golfer.

Aaron Basin, Heron Point Golf Links, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a great afternoon! I was playing with my son Ryan, and he actually saw it go in! I hit it and thought it was a good shot but, he watched it and said, “dad, I think it went in!” He walked toward the hole and I walked to the back of the green, and heard him scream, “dad it is in the hole!” We then both screamed. I hit an 8 iron with a little wind behind me as the hole was about 145 yards and in the back corner.

Earle Keatley, Oshawa Golf & Curling Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

On my 78th birthday I was playing with Steve Poots and Rick Baxter. I commented after a poor front nine that the golf gods were not being very nice on my birthday. Things picked up on the back and got to 18th hole much happier. Yardage was 111. Hit a 9 iron landing just short of hole and rolled in. Both partners were yelling that could go in and it did! The club has hole-in-one insurance so a good celebration on the patio followed. The club now presents you with the flag as a keepsake. This was my third hole-in-one.

Wayne Hein, Cambridge Golf Club Ltd, Hole #5

The story of me getting a hole-in-one happened on the fifth hole, I was 100 yards out using a pitching wedge. I hit the ball and me and my mom heard a very loud click sound and didn’t see the ball anywhere. I started to record me walking up to the flag so I could catch my reaction and turns out the ball really was in the hole. My dad was playing with a few friends and coincidentally he was on the 12th hole which was beside the fifth hole so he managed to see it and celebrate with us. Later in the round my dad told one of the heads at Whistle Bear that I had gotten a hole-in-one, so he was waiting for me and my mom to finish our round. Once he saw us he handed me a bottle with the flag from the 5th hole and 25 drink tickets to give out. Finally the last thing for me to do was go inside the restaurant and ring a bell that is there to ring if you get a hole-in-one.

Hole #7. 110 yards. Club used was a 6 hybrid. Playing with Kim Elliott who was there for my hole-in-one last year too and two other Sturgeon members, Dale and Tony.

Hugh Scarth, Hampton Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a great feeling and only in my third year of playing golf regularly. I managed it with an 8 iron, Kirkland ball and 112 yards. That is what hole #4 is rated as and the flag was in the middle. I was playing with Adam, Steve and 11-year-old Elliot, people who I had not played with before.

Brent Solonenko, Wildwinds Golf Links Inc., Hole #15

Played with a group of friends. Hole #15. Was playing 127 yards to the flag.

Craig Cyr, Monterra Golf At Blue Mountain Resort, Hole #6

I was golfing with Stefan Trudeau. It was hole #6, approximately 125 yards and I used a 9 iron.

Damien Heinle, Gage Golf Course, Hole #7

Was playing with a buddy of mine. The course was backed up so the group behind us also witnessed it. Hole #7 at Gage Golf Course. A 160 yard par 3. I used a light 9 iron. Due to the shadows on the green, we were unable to tell if the ball went in or not from the tee box. The group behind us believed the ball rolled off the green but upon pulling up the the green it was clear the ball went in the hole.

Dereck Scanie, Grand Centre Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

It was 158 yards with a pitching wedge.

Roger Taylor, Gander Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners were, Neil Best, Paul Hitchcock and Lindsey Fraser. That hole is 177 yards. The pin was in the back so I am guessing close to 180 yards. I used a 4 iron.

Wesley Barrett, Royal Colwood Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was 137 yards into a a descent wind and I hit a slight knock down 8 iron. Ball mark was about four feet right of the flag and it must have have spun a bit sideways into the hole. The exciting part was because of the flag being tucked behind a bunker we never saw it go in.

Colin Moore, Belvedere Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first ever hole-in-one. I was playing with my 15-year-old son, Liam. He beat me on the front nine for his first time ever and then I pulled ahead for keeps with my hole-in-one on hole #11! It was 163 yards to the pin and I hit an 8 iron (there was a helping wind). I didn’t hit it flush and it barely covered the trap, kicked towards the hole and went in. It was awesome to share that moment with my son.

CJ McCardle, Andersons Creek Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one came on Thursday, June 27th at hole #8 at Andersons Creek in Stanley Bridge, P.E.I. The yardage was 124 with wind behind blowing the storm clouds in. I hit a 56 degree wedge, and it took one bounce, hit the pin and dropped. My playing partners were Brady van der Velden, Grant Grady and Jarrett Mulligan. We just finished hole #9 before the rain hit so unfortunately we weren’t able to finish 18 holes that day.

Gary Benezra, Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

Playing partners were Jeremy Faria and Dr. Neil Moss. Hole #3. Blue tees. 148 yards with an 8 iron.

On June 22nd at Wildstone Golf Course in B.C., I had my first hole-in-one from the blue tees, 169 yards playing 172 yards with my 6 iron. The sunset was coming down so we knew it was a nice shot but couldn’t see it getting in the hole. When we got there we couldn’t see my ball so my golf partner Evan Begeman ran to see in the hole and start yelling, “it’s in the hole!” There was another couple playing with us, Dale and Diane if I remember their names correctly.

Greg Kostandoff, Brantford Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

After 35 years of playing golf, I had my first hole-in-one on Thursday, June 27th at Brantford Golf and Country Club. It was on the third hole with a nice 9 iron from around 140 yards. Landed just behind the pin, took one bounce and spun back off a slope into the hole. We all watched it drop! Amazing feeling that I was able to share with my close friends Abe, Chris and Jeff.

David Wilson, Victoria Park East, Hole #4

Hole #4, yardage was 157 and I hit a 9 iron. I was playing with my cousin Craig Martini, friend Chris Bell and Shiek B. I also shot my career low round of 66, and had another eagle on hole #16. It was a memorable Canada Day for me. It was also my third hole-in-one. Got two in 2022 both in October, two weeks apart. I only started golfing in 2019, and have been apart of Golf Canada since 2020.

Joey Gibbons, Fort Langley Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My name is Len Gibbons and I am Joey’s husband. This was an amazing accomplishment for her as she is a stroke victim and was advised after her stroke that she would probably not be able to golf again. Joey is a very strong willed person so she would not accept that. Joey never golfed for two years after her stroke but then decided it was time. She has her limitations but still manages. This was her fifth hole-in-one as she had four of them before her stroke. On this occasion Joey and I were just golfing together however her hole-in-one was witnessed by two gentlemen ahead of us. The hole #17 has an elevated tee and on this occasion the middle of the green white flag was directly over a pot bunker that was protecting the green. Joey used a Callaway Rogue 7 wood which flew over the pot bunker bounced once on the green and rolled into the hole without touching the flag. The red forward tees on this date made the hole play 115 yards downhill.

I’ve been having lessons last few years with Aaron Moody from Golftech, North Vancouver and been improving. On this day the sun was out and the course was immaculate. Came to hole #2, a 145 yard par 3 with the pin on the front left and a slight breeze against. I flushed my 7 iron, looked close but couldn’t see over the front of green. Halfway walking up the fairway I started to ponder, “could this really be my first hole-in-one?” Reaching the green not seeing any ball close I walked to the hole and amazingly ball was in the hole. One bounce pitch mark. I played with professor Paul Evans from University of British Columbia and a delightful young couple.

Brandon Arnett, Cold Lake Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my first hole-in-one. I have hit the pin twice before but luck wasn’t on my side those times. This day was the earliest tee time I’ve ever started on at 6:40 am. I was with my friend, Mike Ansell, who is also a member of Golf Canada. I made the shot with a three quarter swing 9 iron with a slight draw at 141 yards. It landed 10 feet short of the hole, two bounces and it was in.

Peter Labor, Landings Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friends Nate, Brooke and Josh. It was hole #11 at The Landings Golf Course. Short par 3, maybe less than 100 yards. I struck my pitching wedge pure and the ball landed about 15 feet away from the hole. The ball then bounced once and in the hole. We all doubted it went in so Josh and Nate rushed to check and they couldn’t believe that the ball was in the hole. I checked for myself and there it was my Kirkland ball staring back at me. Such a surreal moment.

Samuel Stadnyk, Speargrass Golf Course, Hole #11

I was golfing with my brother Josh and a friend Dale Cleghorn. The hole was 160 yards downhill. Decided to hit a pitching wedge and ended up dunking the ball in the hole. I had no idea the ball went in until I walked up to the green and saw the massive divot the ball made on the edge of the hole.

Kevin Woods, Oaks of Cobden Golf Club, Hole #9

Hole #9 on Monday was 138 yards to the pin from the white tees. I used my 48 degree wedge and was playing with Jake Powers and Rebekah Kiezebrink (also Golf Canada members).

Arden Semper, Rattlesnake Point, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 137 yards to the pin from the blue tees as pinged by one of my playing partners Brad Trussler. I was playing with two friends, Brad, Andrew Savaglio and their neighbour Brett “The Vet” as they called him, I’m really not even sure what his last name is as I had just met him that afternoon. Shot was holed with a Titleist T200, 43 degree pitching wedge using a Taylormade Speedsoft golf ball. I had just started playing that ball that day as I had found one in the woods at a scramble a couple weeks back and liked how it felt off the club. It was actually my second hole-in-one but oddly enough, my first one was recorded at Rattlesnake as well on Sidewinder hole #2 – exactly 52 weeks (to the day) on Thursday June 22, 2023. Now, that’s just crazy! I can’t wait to see which hole it will be on next year?

Dale Kurta, Trestle Creek Golf Resort, Hole #3

We were attending a snowbirds tournament that day organized by Bob Rodda with people attending from Alta., B.C. and the U.S. There were actually two of us that had our first ever hole-in-one’s that day on the same hole. The hole was 117 yards and I hit an 8 iron into the wind over the water on hole #3 at Trestle Creek. I was golfing with my wife Dorothy Kurta, Colleen and Bob Wenger from Cardiff, Alta. and Hazel Watson from Qualicum Beach, B.C. The other individual that had a hole-in-one was Mike Ferris from Edmonton, Alta.

Nola Seaman-Lively, Wintergreen Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

While golfing at Wintergreen Golf Course, I made a hole-in-one on hole #15. Using a pitching wedge on the 120 yard hole, I hit a clean shot. The ball landed about ten feet from the pin, rolled steadily towards the hole, and then dropped in. It felt like destiny as I watched the ball roll in. Witnessing this remarkable feat was my husband, Terry Lively, who shared in the excitement of my first-ever hole-in-one.

Joan Rallison, Sunnydale Golf Course Courtenay, Hole #4

Ladies day, playing with Judy Berkeley, Brenda DeGagne and Becky Kenner. Used a 6 hybrid from 114 yards and hit a yellow Titleist TruFeel #4.

Roman Wojcik, The Track Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my playing buddies Dale and Ron. We got to hole #17 and it was quite windy. From the black tees it was 148 yards. I hit a 8 iron, it was a good hit going straight at the flag but I couldn’t see the bottom of the hole as it was behind a little rise in front of the green. After we all hit we walk up to the green and I don’t see my ball. It wasn’t short, I look in the bunker just beyond the green and nothing was there. Then Dale walks and says, “let’s check the hole.” He reaches in and pulls out the ball. My first hole-in-one after over 40 years of golfing.

Steve Wilson, Saugeen Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It took place on Saturday, June 29th on Sunrise hole #5. The club was a 6 iron and distance was 152 yards from the blue tees. My wife Bonnie witnessed this exciting occurrence. We happened to be playing in misty rain. It was the second time I aced this hole. August 25th, 2022 in a four man scramble tourney was the other time. This must be my lucky hole!

Geoff Gulevich, Bear Mountain Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Saturday, June 22 myself and 11 friends were participating in our fourth annual “Big Honch Invitational” at Bear Mountain, in Victoria B.C. As we got to hole #4 of the Mountain course it was playing 148 yards with about 30 feet of elevation gain, front left pin on a shrub and brush filled valley between the tee box and green. Normally I would hit a smooth and easy 8 iron, only to fly the pin and be able to putt back. There was a heavy head wind so I clubbed up to a 7 iron.

I squared up to the flag and opened the club face a touch to cut the ball right of the pin onto a safe shelf. I had a clean strike and the ball flew to my desired location. It bounced and settled and then it began rolling slowly down left towards the pin. I thought it was going to roll off what appeared to be a false front of the green but rolled directly across and ever so slowly towards the pin and as it should have passed, it dropped. I dropped my club and was met with a roar of cheer, hugs and high fives from my friends. It was perfect, to be able to share that with my crew.

I finally made my first hole-in-one at age 54. I was playing with my buddy Rod Pocza. I had a tough front nine and on hole #12 that was playing 189 yards, I hit a 6 iron which was definitely my best shot of the day. I feel relieved that I can finally say I have a hole-in-one.

Kevin Oates, Rivershore Golf Links, Hole #2

I was playing from the white tees, it was about 165 yards. Used my Taylormade rescue hybrid 4 club. I was playing with Taylor Lee, she hosted a tournament for Fidelity. I thought it hit the flag and didn’t know it went in until I got up to the green!

Valerie Dry, Serenity Golf Club, Hole #14

I used an alternate wedge on hole #14, distance was 91 yards. Playing partners were Judy Johnson, Brian Loschuk and Cory Neuman. As a side note this was my 14th hole-in-one which occurred on hole #14.

Dave Lundquist, Shuswap National, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #3 at Shuswap National. Hole was playing 116 yards downhill. Played my gap wedge and landed 8 inches left of the pin, one hop and spun back right and into the cup!

Todd Ellis, West Hills Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on Wednesday June 26th. I was playing with my good friends Nancy and Steve Gilliland, and my wife Barbara Wishart. It was on hole #5 at West Hills Golf Club. It’s a short par three measuring a mere 105 yards but it is almost all over a pond. The pin was in a difficult front right location, with a cross wind going from right to left. I used a pitching wedge landing the ball about a foot from the hole and watched as it slowly rolled toward the pin and dropped in. Every Sunday my 95 year old mother calls to chat. At some point she gets around to asking whether I played golf that week. As usual she would ask, “did you get a hole-in-one?” I’d always have to say, “no not this week.” She would remind me that my father had one, but not to worry, “you will get one some day.” Well it was nice on this past Sunday that I was able to respond to the question with, “yes I did get a hole-in-one.” Of course my mother congratulated me and then quickly reminded me that I still had a ways to go as my wife Barbara has two hole-in-ones.

Shane Barker, Legacy Ridge Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

This hole-in-one was my fifth one, all at Legacy Ridge, I have now aced all the different par 3 holes. I have the plaques/flags for all the five aces, I have the dates, I have playing partner names, I have the distance and I have even what club that I used.

August 20th 2004, hole #17
September 28th 2014, hole #14
July 27th 2019, 2019, hole #8
October 14th, 2021, hole #12

I have been thinking about making an ace on hole #2 every time I teed off on that hole for the next two years, five months and 23 days. I even think I could go back through all the golf canada scores over that time frame and figure out how many actual attempts it took at Legacy Ridge (formerly Owen Sound Golf and Country).

I can not tell you how excited I was to score the fifth ace to complete the cycle of all five of the par 3 hole on
May 23rd, 2024, hole #2.

Fun fact, my wife, Deborah Barker, also has two hole-in-one’s, September 23rd, 2020 and June 13th, 2022. It has been a happy household competition about who was going to get the next one.

I have been told by folks in the golf industry that acing all the par 3’s at your home course is unusual, and it has never been done at Legacy Ridge (a Stanley Thompson course over 100 years old). In fact someone did some research and the only close story was about a chap down in the states who aced all four of his courses par 3 holes.

David Morrow, Riverbend Golf Community, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I first put my hands on a golf club at age 11, 73 years ago and have loved the game every since. The people we meet and share time with make it special. So I would like to share a memory of the 12th hole from the fall of 2012 that connects with this year’s hole-in-one.

Playing a foursome match with a tooney on the line, I hit a 6 iron, 165 yards from the gold tee for an amazing hole-in-one. Earlier this year I was shocked to learn of the passing of Randy McCurdy at age 69 from dengue fever while in Asia. Randy was playing with me when I had my hole-in-one. Although I hadn’t seen Randy for a few years my wonderful memories of our playing days welled up on opening day this year as we were approaching the 12th tee. My wife Joan and I were playing with our friends Werner and Diane. I told Werner that I was going to hit a shot from the gold tee in memory of Randy. Rather than the 6 iron from 12 years ago I had to go with my 5 wood. The shot had to go over a large pond in front of the green. I mishit the shot and it went into the water 30 yards short of the green. When I got back to the golf cart at the white tee Werner asked, “did your friend like swimming?” Randy would have loved the humour in that. When we got to the 17th hole the yardage from the white tees was the same 165 yards that I had hit into the water on hole #12. I pulled the same 5 wood. This time it went into the hole for a hole-in-one. What do you think of that Randy!

Yes, so the hole-in-one on #12 was the second hole-in-one this year! From the white tees it was an 8 iron from 125 yards. The good news we were playing a foursome match game. Surprise, we won the hole. The bad news, I needed more holes-in-one because my partner and I lost the match on #18.

I love that you never know which shot you hit is going in and that every hole starts from zero.

Steve Gallacher, Heron Point Golf Links, Hole #13

When I shot it, I thought it rolled off the back but my group standing as the side of the tee said it rolled in!
When we got across the bridge and didn’t see it we thought, “oh boy this might be in” and there it was in the cup! So exciting.

It was a back pin and the yardage was 157 yards. I used a Ping G30 7 iron. Playing partners for that day were club members: Tom Murphy, Terry Shea and Ken Roulston. It was early morning and a rare light fog which prevented us from seeing the ball drop in. When I hit it, the guys said it looks really good. Upon arrival at the green, I took out my putter and went looking for the ball behind the green. When I said to Tom, “I can not see my ball,” he replied, “check the hole” and bingo, it was there. Needless to say we all enjoyed a “pop” after the round.

My hole-in-one was on June 16, 2024, hole #4, 118 yards and used an 8 iron. I was playing with Sue Spate, Rhonda and Eamon Ryan, all members at Crown Isle. This is my fourth hole-in-one, three at Crown Isle on holes #7, #12 and now on #4. First one was at Westwood Plateau.

I was with a few buddies Terry, Gord and John. The hole was 144 yards from the white tees and I used a Taylormade 7 iron and a Titleist golf ball. It landed a few yards short of the green with a red pin location. It bounced once and then rolled in on beautiful Calgary windless evening – which so far this year has been rare. I have been fortunate as this was my fourth ace.

Candace Heinz, Poppy Estate Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

As you know it happened at Poppy Estates on hole #6. It is a 140 yard par 3 and I chose my trusty 7 iron. It was during the Poppy Ladies Tournament during the women’s club. I was grouped with a fabulous group of ladies which included Debora McLellan, Michelle Pringle and our Captain Lynda-Lee Saunier. What was even more exciting that my mother Kathryn Heinz was in the group behind us and saw it as well with her group. It was a very exciting moment with all the share. Once the round was over the club house was filled with excitement too, such a great group of ladies at our course.

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partner Reg Gutz and I were on our second hole in the Pakenham Tuesday Morning Senior Men’s League playing the Lake Course. Hole #2 was playing 114 yards against a bit of a headwind. I nailed my 8 iron, landing just short of the pin. I knew it was a good shot, somewhat tight to the white flag stick. The ball was stuck between the pin and lip of the cup with just a portion of the ball visible. At the green, Reg said, “it’s in” and just touched the pin to let the ball drop to the bottom of the cup. I had my first hole-in-one in 2007. The guys are saying I have the same schedule as the cicadas – every 17 years!

Corrina Johnstone, Deer Valley Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a new golfer and only started playing last year. I began taking consistent lessons this spring. My husband and I were golfing in Deer Valley with two friends. Hole #4 is a par 3 over water. This hole has always been a mental game for me, as the water has claimed many of my balls from previous rounds. My husband had found a TP5 ball on the previous hole and gave it to me. I always use the worst balls in my bag when teeing off on hole #4 since I’m sure to lose them in the water. This time I decided to take a chance and use that TP5. It was 102 yards from the pin. I made the perfect swing with my 9 iron. I remember seeing the ball land close to the pin and start rolling. At that moment, it never occurred to me how close the ball was. Then the ball disappeared into the hole. Our whole party erupted with excitement. The adrenaline was so intense I thought I was going to pass out. It was a surreal moment that I will always be thankful for. Although slightly jealous, my husband proudly tells anyone who will listen of his wife’s hole-in-one. Special thanks to the person who lost their TP5 ball on the previous hole, your ball allowed me to make one of my most exciting memories. It now sits on our mantle.

Silver tees. 111 yards. Used a 9 iron. Was playing with Vicki Redding and Sebastian Nyeste. Sebastian was as excited as me, he is a new golfer and this was the first hole-in-one he ever witnessed. My friend Vicki said as soon as the ball was in the air that the golf shot was looking really good. That got all of our attention. We started yelling already as the ball travelled towards the hole. When the ball landed on the green it hit left of the flag on the exact break it needed and went right into the hole; we all saw it perfectly. If I must say it, was a really great shot! It was a great golf day, I managed to get the hole-in-one on #11, a birdie on hole #15 and a par on hole #18.

Gordon He, University Golf Club, Hole #2

I had a hole-in-one at University Golf Club while playing in the BCGA Zone 4 Junior Championship. The second hole was a 170-yard par 3 and 155 yards to the pin (front pin). I hit a light 7 iron. My group and I watched the ball as it flew at the hole. It landed a couple yards short of the hole and then rolled in! I was super excited and happy about my first ever hole-in-one during a tournament! Thanks to the Zone 4 team and Golf Canada for the support.

My recent hole-in-one on May 21, 2024 was during regular league play at Larters Golf Club with other Ladies League members Sandy Eggertson, Shirley Babaluk and Karen Kearney. On hole #14, 123 yard par 3, I watched the other players hit towards the green against big wind gusts, over a soggy fairway and come up short. So I changed my club decision and grabbed my driver. I hit my ball, saw it land on the green beyond a small rise beside the sand trap and was hoping for a birdie. Karen, who was watching from a different angle said she saw it go into the cup. I walked up to the green with my putter just as Karen pointed down at my ball in the cup. Our foursome was busy keeping pace so there were no photos taken and no major celebrations that day when we finished our round. But it was also my second hole-in-one.

I got my first on July 31, 2020 at Kingswood Golf and Country Club in LaSalle, Manitoba. Hole #3, a 122 yard par 3. I was using my driver as I needed to get my ball over a pond in front of the green. My golf pals, Betty Wilson and Lynn Crocker Loat and I all stood on the elevated tee box, watched and cheered as my ball cleared the pond, landed on the top of the green, rolled down and dropped into the hole. My brother, Jamie, a lifelong low handicap golfer with two hole-in-one’s, now says he needs to get another hole-in-one as soon as possible to beat his older sister. Our sister Cheryl, who took up golf when she retired and plays socially in Ontario, already got a hole-in-one. The last sibling, Michele, who is turning 70 next month, just took up golf last summer, so now we are all bugging her, as well as my son Everett and son-in-law Marty, to join the family hole-in-one club!

Hole #13, 176 yards with a 4 hybrid. Playing with Henry Barber, a 20-year-old in a flighted match play. Two weeks before my 85th birthday. This now makes five hole-in-one’s and I also have a double eagle. That hole-in-one helped me to win the match over a longer and stronger young player. Fairways and greens still counts in this game.

Peter Andrews, Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve only been golfing seriously since 2020 when I bought my first set of clubs and I recognize what a super cool thing it is to get a hole-in-one. Many golfers go their whole life without getting one and I am still in wonder of the whole accomplishment.

I was golfing that week with a group of seven guys on our annual golf trip. This year we played rounds at Predator Ridge (Vernon), Shuswap National (Salmon Arm), Harvest in Kelowna and Hillview (Vernon). That day, my golfing group consisted of myself, Peter Andrews, Mike Forsyth and Phil Denno, the other foursome was one hole ahead of us and was made up of Gerry Rempel, Murray Hedlin, Bill Scott and John Ydenberg.

On Tuesday, June 11th we teed off at 8:30 am into a beautiful warm morning from the blue tee box. On hole #6, the card yardage was 195, but the hole posted 187 yards. I used my Cobra King #4 hybrid and a Callaway Chrome soft ball and it flew straight at the flag, dropped and rolled into the hole. One of my partners said he heard it hit the flag so I thought it would at least be a close putt but was elated to approach the hole and not see my ball at all and hurried over to the flag to confirm my ball was indeed in there!

Danny Cook, Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

Nothing amazing, other than I took an 8 iron and hit a ball, 143 yards on to a 500 square foot piece of property with a 4.25″ hole and put it in and yet can’t make a 4-foot putt. Haha!

Mark Jones, Island Brae (Club de golf), Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my dad, Steve Jones; my uncle, Jerry Muldoon, and my cousin, Matthew Muldoon. The yardage was 160 and I used a 6 iron.

Eric Chen, Legends on the Niagara, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Had a tee time on 9:40 am in a hot and muggy Thursday, June 20, 2024. Paired with Sean who lives nearby as twosome following a foursome in Battlefield course at Legends on the Niagara. Both of us are the full access pass holders, good casual talks during the round.

Hole #8 is a short par 3 over water hazard with back pin location, playing 135 yards from white tee deck. I hit a lazy 8 iron with baby draw to the centre of the green, then the ball rolled towards to the pin and disappeared. I felt a chance in the cup but could be long rolled over. Lucky enough, the ball sat inside the cup. That’s unbelievable of my very first hole-in-one in more than twenty years of golfing.

Scott Fraser, Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club, Hole #8

It was men’s night and I was playing with the same group of guys that I play with most weeks, John Pickard, Robert Lyons and Scott Mezonic. Anyway, after cruising along even par into hole #7, I took a double bogey and was very mad! I walked to the 8th tee box, threw my ball down and said to myself, “I’m going to ace this hole!” I hit my 8 iron and it felt perfect! It flew approximately 153 yards, landed just shy of the green, took one hop and I said, “get in!” It rolled about 15 feet and plunk. First one at my home course in which I grew up playing and first one in over 38 years! I was extremely elated. I also won low gross that night and bought a few drinks for the men’s club. I think I won long drive too in the Senior’s division, so all in all, it was a perfect night.

Blake Chandler, Chester Golf Club, Hole #16

It was on June 9th at hole #16 of Chester Golf Course 156 yards. The club used was a 3 hybrid. Playing partners were, Holly Chandler, Jo-Ann Ravlo and John Ravlo.

Al Cue, Harvest Golf Club, Hole #4

June 19th, while playing with Ken Volk, Jock Hawkey and Frank Kratzer, I had a hole-in-one on the hole #4 at the Harvest Golf Club, Kelowna. It was 165 yards to the hole, the ball hit the front of the green and rolled toward the middle pin. You could hear the ball hit the pin from the tee box, then it fell into the hole. It is quite a surreal experience and I was happy to share it with my good friends.

Claude Joannette, Club de Golf Miner, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

At the Club de Golf Miner in Granby, Quebec. Small municipal nine hole golf course, on the Sunday, May 26, 2024. With my son Bruno, my partner Rejean (81) and his friend. The day, at the age of 77 years young, with a 7 wood, nice breeze and sunny, the ball flew in a straight line and my son started to shout, “it is going in and it is in,” What a moment of joy, in all the years that I have been practicing golf. Hole #8, 142 yards long between high level trees and a sand trap along the right side. Now I can relax and say, “I did it.” Boy what a memory, wish everyone to have one and see the feeling inside you. Now the ball and the score card placed in a transparent cube in my office, right in my view!

Peter Whitlock, Eagles Glenn Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was a long time in the making. My playing partners were Edwin Callaghan and Reg Boudreau. The hole was playing about 135 yards and I played a 6 iron to make sure I carried the water hazard and bunker in front. A pretty cool moment.

Ron Hudon, Glencairn Golf Course, Hole #12

The hole was 160 yards and I used an 8 iron.

Cuong (Curtis) Ly, Station Creek Golf Club, Hole #17

I played with Patrick Lee, Nick Vitantonio and David Lee. It was Station Creek North, hole #17 and 176 yards. I use a 6 iron.

Carmen Saumure, Equinelle Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was Saturday, June 8th and I was playing with our weekend warriors. I was actually having a pretty decent game that day. But just before my hole-in-one, I shot a three over on a par 4! I remember telling my friends I need to erase that bad hole.

Move onto hole #13, a 122-yard par 3, the green slopes to the right. Two of my friends had already hit, I took out my 4 hybrid and hit and I remember thinking just aim a bit left (since I’m a lefty and have tendency to pull right). I felt it was a good shot but thought that it had rolled behind the pin. I said it’s probably lined up and we can’t see it. My friend who is last to hit yells out at me, “great shot!” It’s going for the hole! Then she yells out, “it disappeared!” I was putting away my club so did not actually see it go in. We all ran to go see how close I was only to find it in the hole! Needless to say we all yelled and jumped with excitement!

Within five minutes I must of gotten over a dozen texts congratulating me. I was the talk on the veranda among the warriors that day! Because I had “insurance” everyone on the veranda got a free beverage! Fantastic moment I will never forget.

Steve Kisil, Monterra Golf At Blue Mountain Resort, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

This was our annual guy’s golf getaway and yes it was so exciting getting a hole-in-one on Montera’s second hole. I used my 9 iron from the grey tees around 129 yards to the pin in the back left corner of the green.

This was actually my third hole-in-one! My first two came two weeks apart about 20 years ago. My buddies in the picture are Chris Belton, me, Peter Lachance and Chris Love.

Sharon Zarowny, Quilchena Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners that day were Alec Keylock, Mike Matthews and Bert Bonin. The hole was 161 yards but played 170 that day as it was a back pin placement. There was a strong headwind so I used my 4 wood. I struck the ball well and it hit the front of the green and rolled all the way into the bottom of the cup. Pretty cool or what!

Zachary Burlon, Black Mountain Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #17, 145 yards with an 8 iron. I played with Jonathan Dikih and his friend Anthony. It is kind of a funny story how the round got started. I was supposed to play with a friend and unfortunately at last minute they had to cancel on me, leaving me to play solo. I was actually looking forward to a solo round and didn’t even plan to play all 18 holes! Well, right before I was going to tee off two guys came down to the first tee and said “hey, are you Zach?” We got told to jump in with you since you’re playing alone. They were not familiar with the lay of the land, so as a member at Black Mountain, I was able to give them some pointers along the way.

Nearing the end of the round, we get up to hole #17, I put my ball on the tee and get ready to hit. I took my shot and bounced to the right of the hole. I didn’t see the ball roll across the green so I thought to myself, “Hmm, I must have just gotten caught up just before the green.” Not thinking much of it, I walk up to the green with the guys and I don’t see my ball on the green, nothing on the fringe just short of the green, I walk up to the pin and there it is, my Kirkland ball is in the cup!

I yelled, “I just got a hole-in-one!” Jonathan was right there and started cheering with me. It’s an awesome accomplishment to get a hole-in-one. It’s funny how it happened on a day where my usual crew wasn’t there and I almost didn’t have a witness! My usual group couldn’t believe they missed it! This is only my second year as a member at Black Mountain and now my group and I get to see my name on the plaque in the clubhouse everyday. This is actually my second hole-in-one. First one was at Tower Ranch Golf course in Kelowna, B.C. as well. October 20, 2017 on hole #5. I just found out my name is now on the wall there too.

Gwen Cargill, Castlegar Golf Club, Hole #4

Miracles do happen! It was wet and cold for our Tuesday morning ladies golf club. I didn’t think I would stay but was talked into playing nine holes at least as we were going to celebrate a member’s 70th birthday with cupcakes. The weather improved and we completed 18 holes. I played with Candis Bomak, Verna Chernoff and Marg McKenzie. The yardage on hole #4 from the red tees is listed at 116 yards and it was a red flag. I used a 3 wood. My first thought on seeing I had a close shot was that I hadn’t put in for the KP pot and then Verna said, “it went in.”

Laura Baydala, Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was using my new Callaway smoke 9 wood when I hit 148 yards uphill for my hole-in-one. Due to the elevation of the green, we did not see the ball go into the hole. In fact, we thought I had gone over the green and were looking for the ball behind the green. When we could not find it, I asked one of the gals to check the hole and there it was! It was a regular Tuesday woman’s day at Gallagher’s, so after the round all the women who were staying for lunch were treated to a beverage of their choice. We even celebrated with a champagne toast!

Cassandra Dass-Pearce, Nottawasaga Inn Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a foursome with my husband and a couple who also happened to be my next-door neighbours. The club used was a Taylormade M2 #4 hybrid. The yardage was 114.6.

Jo-Anne Belcher, Georgetown Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was both shocking and exciting. I didn’t believe it was in the hole because it was hard to see as we have to shoot over a ravine. My ball bounced once and right into the hole. It was 124 yards and I used my 3 wood. I was playing with Deb Pincivero and Kathy Kearney.

Jamie Paradis, Connaught Golf Club, Hole #12

It was a 122 yard hole and I used my 8 iron.

Karen Paul, Vernon Golf & Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

We played a nine and dine with some friends and it was on hole #5, Vernon, B.C., Vernon Golf and Country Club 113 yards, with my 5 wood using a Taylormade ball. It was an elevated green so of course we couldn’t see where the ball landed.

Took my shot and moved to the green where we saw only three balls. Thinking my ball had gone off the bank and over the hill, I started to search for it. One of our party said, “look in the hole!” Lo and behold my ball was there! I couldn’t believe it! My second hole-in-one! Just as exciting as my first!

Dale Roberts, Mystic Golf Club, Hole #11

My first hole-in-one was 58 years in the making. I am 66 years old and began playing this game at the age of eight. The hole-in-one happened at Mystic Golf Course on hole #11 from 120 yards using an 8 iron. I was playing with three of my friends. It was a very special moment in my very long golfing life.

Brent Mason, Landings Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole is one of the shortest it came in at 95 yards to pin. Pin was on left side of green about five paces and ten feet from the front. I hit my Mizuno 52° gap wedge with seven bounce with a slight draw that took a big bounce on green then a small with a little check on it and disappeared with no roll. I was there that day with two friends and one single player who joined named Amir. I apologize if that’s not the proper spelling of his name, I have never seen him before but was a great addition to the day.

The friends I was with are also my clients Andrew Laird and Tristan Perry. Andrew is very new to golf and I started using my love for golf and helping people together.

I myself suffer from different mental and physical disabilities and use golf as therapy. Next thing I know I’m helping a whole bunch of people by using golf to cope with life and improve or learn the game. The reason I wanted to let you know all of this is because I think of my hole-in-one as karma for trying to help so many people struggling.

Pat my wife and I were playing with two guys from Calgary. It was on the seventh hole. It was 156 yards with a wind coming cross ways at our backs. I used an eight iron as I didn’t want it to go over the green as it drops off at the back. The flag was in the center. I wanted to hit it short and let it run up to the hole. After it hit the green the guys said I think it went in the hole. I didn’t think it did I thought it was behind the pin I moved to the side of the tee box, that’s when I realized it had gone in. This hole-in-one was my fifth.

This hole-in-one was a par 3 on the second hole which measured 112 yards. This was done with a pitching wedge and the ball struck the green with one bounce and rolled into the cup. The witness to this was Bob Handley who is a golfing buddy with me at Turtle Creek who is a member also. Quite the excitement.

It happened on hole #9, a 103 yard shot. It was witnessed by Ruth Bangay. We played early morning, so not a big celebration as most people were still in bed but it was a great experience.

On May 24, 2024, I was playing at our home course Metcalfe Golf Club with my husband and two other male friends. We got to hole #5 on the 18 hole course which is 124 yards from the red tee box. I was the last player to step up to the red tee with my driver and hit a Pinnacle gold ball, unfortunately no one saw the ball go in. Once on the green, we were all looking around and then my friend says that it may be in the hole.
Lo and behold there it was. Such a great feeling as I never thought that it could happen. As they say, “what are the chances.”

Mikael Arsenault, Dunes (Club de golf Les), Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I am still very shocked and happy because I never even thought it would happen as I started golfing only last year. For the specifications of the shot it was a 158 yard par 3 and I used a 7 iron. I was playing with Gabriel Parent and Fabrice Gagnon.

Diane McArthur-Rodgers, Thornhill Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

Best part was my golf buddy and I could see it land on green and continue to roll and disappear, might have been a few cheers from the tee deck. It was on the Valley course hole #7 and distance was 119 yards. I used a 7 wood and found Callaway ball. My partner was Kim MacBride who got her own hole-in-one on hole #5 at Valley on May 31.

I was excited to get my third hole-in-one at Country Hills Golf Course in Calgary on Talons hole #6. It was a reasonably nice day, given the cold, rainy and windy spring we have been having. It was a beautiful morning on our regular Tuesday Ladies Day. I was golfing with three great friends: Carol Lamb, Deb Peacock and Lorraine Templeton, all of whom have also been members at Country Hills for many years. I used my 25 degree rescue hybrid and hit an easy shot to a front pin, about 100 yards. The key thing about this shot is that I actually saw it go in! I never saw the first two hole-in-one’s go in. All three hole-in-one’s have been on my home course, Country Hills, Talons (hole #4, hole #14 and now hole #6). Now my goal is to get one on Talons hole #16 and I can call it a “grand slam!”

Glen Dyrda, Westmount Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt
I have been golfing for about 50 years, and had never had an ace. I have had an albatross and several eagles on par 4’s and 5’s but never an ace. It seems silly, but every time I stepped on the tee on a par 3 at my home course, Westmount Golf & Country Club in Kitchener-Waterloo, I thought to myself, “maybe this will be the one.” As it turns out the 17th hole was the one on May 26th, a beautiful Sunday morning. The 17th is a beautiful hole, at 149 yards to the middle of the green. It was playing a bit shorter that day, and I had 137 yards to the pin, which was tucked just over the front bunkers that protect the full front of the green. It can be a tricky shot to get close, because the back of the bunkers kick the ball forward and a shot of about 130 yards might just clear the front bunkers and bounce into the back bunker. I chose my 8 iron, which I hit about 140 yards and it was a pure shot right off the face. It landed about three yards short of the pin, on the left, took one hop and then rolled the last three or four feet into the hole. I was playing with my buddies Rick Findlay, Steve Knipping and Dave Castell, and we had a great view of it from the elevated tee. I was so glad it hadn’t been a skull, or hadn’t bounced in off a rake. After that it was pretty much a blur! The best part of it all was when we came up to the 18th green, someone on the patio yelled out, “who got the hole-in-one?” They could hear the roar from about 400 yards away. That was very special. A wonderful memory with my friends, and for some strange reason I now expect to make another one every time I step onto one of the par 3 tee boxes.

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing at the beautiful Harvest Golf Course in Kelowna with my wife Courtney and another friendly older couple we got paired with. Chilly morning, but the sun was out. Playing from the white tees, no judging! Hole #4, 136 yards away with the pin tucked to the right behind an elevated front, I used a full pitching wedge. The line looked great the whole way, but we couldn’t see the hole from the tee box so we had no idea where it ended up. As I am usually long on this hole and I didn’t see my ball on the green when we walked by, I started searching in the rough at the back. The older man then said, “let me just check the cup just in case, it’s in the hole!” First one for me! The rest of the round was a mess, but that’s golf for ya. We celebrated at the turn with a round of drinks and then a few after.

Paul Ives, Glacier Greens Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Richard Kanigan and another nice couple – it was about 135 yards and I used my trusty 7 iron, hit a baby draw, bounced 12 feet in front of hole, and rolled in! My second hole-in-one on that hole, and third overall, the other being on hole #9 at Comox Golf Club.

Mike Rocca, Sarnia Golf & Curling Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt
This hole-in-one has a story just like its two predecessors. When opportunity knocks to go out and play 18 holes after dinner, I rarely don’t take advantage of the weather when it presents itself and last Tuesday was no different. I believe it was around 6:45 pm when I arrived at Sarnia Golf and Curling Club and hurriedly I tried to get to the first tee with the hopes of playing a complete round of 18 holes. Right out of the gate an obstruction to get my round started. My Stewart Vertx trolley had slid in the back of my truck deep towards the direction passenger cabin requiring me to retrieve it with my 5 iron to pull it out. I placed my 5 iron on top of the tonneau cover and unknowingly until I needed it later during my round I forgot I had left it there. So, I’m down in my compliment of clubs to 13 clubs, which by chance wasn’t so unlucky that evening after all. Like I said before, I already had two hole-in-one’s on my resume and much to my wife’s chagrin my moniker is, “things always happen in three’s!”
I arrived on hole #3 and from the blue tees at a measured distance with my range finder of 193 yards, struck my Titleist TSi2 hybrid 4 iron into the sun and actually despite it being a lower but straight shot, couldn’t discern it’s finally resting place. I was actually disappointed with the ball trajectory despite it being struck squarely and on my target line. For those who have never played Sarnia Golf & Curling Club, hole #3 runs in an east to west direction and during that time of the day the sun hovers directly behind the backdrop of trees found at the rear of the green and most of the time you can’t see the ball flight in its entirety. The cart path for the the #4 tee deck is a common area for players to leave their clubs on their way to the hole #3 green. On my way to the green, I saw a foursome in two carts consisting of two couples and the male playing partners had just finished teeing off at the moment I was leaving my trolley there. I grabbed my putter, my 52 and 56 degree Vokey SM8 wedges in preparation to either chip the ball on to the green or to putt. The greens have been running rather fast of late, so my thought process was a low struck ball likely traversed to the back of the green and a chip shot was likely going to be in order, as it was nowhere to be seen at the front of the green. As I walked past the pin, more out of some misplaced optimism I looked glancing look inside the hole and frankly was shocked to see the ball resting in the cup. Never heard it hit the pin nor saw it go in. I raised my arms and yelled, “hole-in-one,” problem being though I was playing myself. However, like I said there was a group on hole #4 and the ladies were teeing off from the advance yellow tees off to the south side of the green at the time and looked at my direction after my emphatic exclamation of just having aced the third hole.
The group of Pat Brennan and Matt Bailey with their better halves witnessed me retrieve the ball from the cup. This was a hole-in-one nightmare scenario that has always run through my mind, “what if I ever got a hole-in-one playing solo,” as it’s not uncommon for me to play solo in the evening to get in 18 holes in just over two hours time.
Back to the three’s. So, I got my third hole-in-one, on a hole numbered three with a Callway Chrome Soft 360 Triple Track ball numbered with the number three. All the while and unknown to me at the time with just 13 (which is supposed to be an unlucky number) clubs in my bag. However; 13 did prove to be unlucky as somewhere along the way from the parking lot after my round and my way home that evening I lost my trolley remote and have searched everywhere for it and can’t find it. No one has turned it into the ProShop yet either since. Also, my mood was further dampened when I failed to break 80 on the last hole because of a three putt in the near darkness conditions. Perhaps threes come in fours? A hole-in-one with a round in the 70’s would have been the dream round of my life. Guess I’ll have to start playing rounds with golf balls numbered with the number four and get to the course 15 minutes earlier!

Brian MacLean, Glen Arbour Golf Club, Hole #7

It was my first career hole-in-one. Hole was playing 155 yards. I hit 9 a iron. The ball landed about three feet from the pin and hopped forward to find the hole. Was playing with Jay MacIntyre, Chris Clarke and Jason Shears.

Sherri Nichol, Country Meadows Members Club, Hole #12

I used my Cobra Air x 7 wood. The shot was approximately 140 yards. I was golfing with a good friend Jennifer Lee and her friend Romi. Romi watched my drive and saw it hit the ground and roll into the hole. There was lots of cheering. I really didn’t believe it until I went to the green and found my ball in the hole. Country Meadows was great; they presented me with a trophy and were very excited for me.

The moment was shared with two great friends on hole #4 at Deer Valley, 112 yards. A 52-degree wedge landed a touch past the pin and went in with backspin. A 40-year gap between this and my first ace in my youth. Fantastic memory.

Chris Ramsay, Quilchena Golf & Country Club, Hole #11

It was on hole #11 at Quilchena, my home course. I used a 6 iron from 160 yards (the blue tees at my course). I was playing with fellow Quilchena members Porter Yang and Liquan Tian. This is actually my third hole-in-one. The other two were at the Oaks in Komoka, Ontario. Interestingly, my second and third holes in one were with a 6 iron! Also, fun fact, my first was in April 2018, my second was in May 2019 and my third was in June 2024. My guess is July is next!

On Tuesday, June 11 my parents were going to play golf with a group of their co-workers. They had an open spot so invited me to go with them. We were the second of two foursomes to tee off with the group. The foursome consisted of my mom, dad and one of their coworkers. I hadn’t been playing well through the first three holes and when we got to the fourth hole at the Gander Golf Club, a 149-yard par 3, I decided to use my 7 iron off the tee instead of my usual 8 iron. My dad and I are both members of the Gander Golf Club and golf there regularly. This is my fourth year golfing. I was the second one to tee off and I felt like I made good contact. The ball landed in the green and disappeared on the second bounce. Both my mom and dad said they thought it went in and my dad started jumping up and down. The foursome in front of us, more of my parent’s co-workers, having just left the green heard us and also came back to see it. It was my first hole-in-one, having only been golfing for four years but I have been close hitting the flag stick on another hole last year.

I played with Larry Valianes and Tom Monroe, which was a good thing because they saw the ball go in the hole but I didn’t! It was 157 yards, down hill, right into about a two and a half club wind. I grabbed my 7 iron and said to Larry and Tom, “I’m going to start it on the right edge of the bunker and bring it left to the hole,” and surprisingly that’s exactly what I did. The ball actually damaged the edge of the hole. It took me 65 years, but I finally got my first ace!

Karen Brown, Summerland Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve been an avid golfer always hoping for a hole-in-one but thinking it will never come, but now I say never say never as it really does happen. We were golfing with my husband Marty and Jill and Danny Lunge. The hole was 151 yards, I used my 5 wood shot short of the flag and my signature happy face ball rolled in!

Alex Woitas, Sandpiper Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first hole-in-one so I’m very excited! Was a wild round. Hole-in-one on hole #4. Started pouring on us hole #7 and then hailed on us for all of hole #9 and hole #10. Played through rain again until hole #12 and then had sun to finish off the round. I was playing with my girlfriend, Sarah Morin. 160 yards and used an 8 iron.

Marcus Decotiis, Whirlpool Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Tim Dorish and Kyzer Troy Auger who are both members. The hole was playing 137 yards that day. This picture was taken by Tim just a couple of minutes after I made the shot. We had a favourable wind that day on that particular hole and I was not sure if I should hit my pitching wedge or my nine iron. I chose the nine iron and hit it super clean as soon as the ball left the club I said, “oh be the club be the club be the club?” All three of us saw it the whole way. The ball landed about 13 inches in front of the hole took one more small bounce and then in. I started playing golf 42 years ago and this is my first hole-in-one.

Steve McCauley, Cambridge Golf Club Ltd., Hole #15

Thank you so much for recognizing a feat that took me 59 years and two days to accomplish! We were actually playing with a twosome they matched us up with – and my boss! The actual date was Friday, June 14th. Cambridge Golf Club hole #15, white tees playing about 167 yards. I teed up my Callaway Hex Tour ball, took out my Taylormade 5 hybrid , I know, I’m getting oldish. I hit a cut to the right side of the green it rolled toward the flag, I thought it went over a mound at the back of the green. One of the guys in our foursome said, “that might go in,” I didn’t even give it a second thought. It was my boss who looked in the cup and told me it was in the cup. It was a delayed but nonetheless exhilarating celebration!

Daniel Hrabowych, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Pine Ridge Golf Club. Hole #16. 142 yards. Pitching wedge. I was playing with my golf league partner, Josh Loewen and our opponents Ryan Levesque and Chris Dersken.

Edward Kwok, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son Alex, Darren and Neil. I had 154 yards. I hit my 8 iron to about six feet and it rolled in the hole. It was a great memory for sure.

Jason Yao, The Hamptons Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Sherry Han and 139 yards from the blue tee with a 5 wood.

Peter Dykstra, Coppinwood, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Was with my brother-in-law Danny Cioffi. Felt guilty as kids had sports and we were out on the courses. Couldn’t hit a shot on the front nine and then with a little coaching Danny said my alignment is off so once I reset went on a good stretch of par until a triple bogey (fescue got me), par, birdie, par, eagle, bogey and bogey. 53 and 39, the true amateur story. Once the ball went in I said, “I guess this is where I am supposed to be in the world.” Truly a special moment and so glad I was able to share it with Danny. The club I joined this year is exceptional and is making a frame with all the details so I am truly spoiled.

Sarah Hurst, Credit Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

The story is that my husband Jim Hurst and I were playing a second round match against Brad and Anita Taylor in Credit Valley’s Weston Cup, the mixed match-play league. It was unseasonably cold that day, Jim and I were not playing well and were down four by the time we reached our signature hole #11. We were starting to count how many more holes were needed to warm up at the 19th hole. It was 126 yards from the yellow tees, over the Credit River and over a bunker to the flag, a nasty pin placement. I used my 9 iron, it landed about five feet in front of the flag, rolled and dropped out of view. Did it go in the hole or roll behind the stick? We weren’t sure but you can tell from the attached photos that we couldn’t have been happier to discover it was a hole-in-one. I’d never come close before. Did we end up winning the match to round out the good news story? Of course not, we rallied a little but Anita and Brad were declared the winners of the match. Oh well, much more to celebrate. This is my 13th season at Credit Valley, our beautiful home away from home.

Ken De Decker, Fox Hollow Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a friend Jeff Syvret. Hit the 7 iron sweet right at the pin, bounced on the green, two hops and rolled in! 37 years of golfing and finally made one. Lots of fun with the guys and learned a new phrase, “holy shot!” Hole #13. 137 yards. 7 iron. TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe.

Tony Paluzzi, Beacon Hall Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was on hole #8, approximately 145 yards, using my 8 iron. It was an extra special hole-in-one, given it was on Father’s Day weekend, the first one without my dad, who had passed in November. When it went in, it was like someone had hand placed it in the cup!

Greg Lawlor, Moncton Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt
134 yards and club was 8 iron. Playing partners were Ralph Chambers, Bill Sloan and Rob Middlemiss.

Chris Oliver, Whispering Pines Golf & Country Club Resort, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my second hole-in-one. However my first hole-in-one was while on vacation so no one saw it other than the caddie I was with. To be fortunate to get a second one with a witness is truly special. I was with my wife Jody and two other members. One of which had gotten a hole-in-one on the very same hole. This particular hole the gold and the blue tee boxes are the same distance but different elevations. So usual I just tee off from the gold so I don’t have to walk down to the lower tee box. However the couple that my wife and I were playing with went to the blue tee box. So I went down to the blue tee box and tee’d off. It was 141 yards and I used a 9 iron. Again to have my wife present made it all the more special.

Peter Fitzgerald, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Date May 27, 2024. Real Club De Golf Sotogrande, Spain. Hole #4, 190 yards with a three wood. Playing partners were Susan Fitzgerald, Jim Livermore and Ginny Parks.

Kevin Jones, Sturgeon Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Lorne Wight, Hugh Hindle and Daryl Nixon. Yardage 139 yards. Club was a 7 iron.

Randy Franks, Brookfield Golf Club, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

Golfed with Scot Foster. First swing of the day, easy 7 iron for 141 yard distance. I am a member at Rebel Creek, Golf North.

Dale Ivanchuk, Forest Heights Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I recently aced a hole at Forest Heights Golf Course. It was on hole #5. 151 yards to the pin and stroked a six iron. Ball did one bounce on to the green, a left to right roll and it found the cup! I was with two long time friends and we shared some high fives!

Gaston Derepentigny, Iroqouis Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Golfed with Larry, Dale and Jimmy at Iroqouis Golf Course on June 12th. Did the hole-in-one on hole #4 used an easy 7 iron about 143 yards.

Neil Skelding, Lake Joseph Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with our Head Pro, Director of Operations and our Men’s Captain. The yardage was 155 and I used a 9 iron.

Rick Kingston, Westmount Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my regular golf group at Westmount Golf & Country Club on Saturday June 1, 2024. As I prepared to hit my 5-wood on the 175 yard hole #6 I mentioned to the guys that I was due since almost exactly three years before that date I had another hole-in-one on that hole. I also shared that, since I hadn’t hit a green in regulation in the round yet, I would settle for just hitting the green. The pin was about half way back on the right and as soon as the ball left my club I said, “well that’s on the green.” As soon as the ball landed we all started calling for it to get in. It just rolled up like a putt and dropped in the middle without even touching the pin. This was my fourth hole-in-one, but definitely my favourite since we had such a good view and we had a chance to “talk it into the hole”.

Beth McDougall, Maplewood Golf and Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Knocked off a bucket list item by getting my first hole-in-one, on a beautiful sunny Monday morning, June 17, 2024. Witnessed by Claudette Landry, Trevor and Joanne Wallace. From the red tee box (120 yards) I hit a beautiful shot to the pin that hit the green and rolled into the cup. I looked at Joanne and said, “I think it went in the hole,” and she said “I think it did too,” then we started screaming. Once it was verified we screamed some more. What a tremendous feat to have a hole-in-one. I am still smiling!

Shane Dyck, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 177-yard par 3 with a 6 iron. I became an adaptive golfer after I was initially paralyzed from below the neck and given a one percent chance to walk again. My whole spine was fused with metal after a 12-hour surgery and doctors said I would be in a power chair for the rest of my life. Needless to say, I am beyond grateful for how the game of golf has helped me throughout my injury, both mentally and physically.

Donna Turner, Coppinwood, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a very exciting day! It actually happened on May 30th on hole #7 at Coppinwood which was 118 yards. It was into the wind so I used an 8 iron and it dropped right next to the hole and rolled in. I saw it but still couldn’t believe it! I was golfing with my partner Lara Shewchuk. The interesting thing is my friend Carol Cooper had come to Coppinwood as a guest two years ago and got a hole-in-one on the same hole! As I approached the tee on the 30th I said, “that’s the same pin placement as when Coop got her hole-in-one.” There you have it!

Brady Lush, Seaview Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the par 3, 14th hole at Seaview Golf and Country Club. Me and a group of good friends were out for an afternoon/evening round. The hole was around 160 yards downhill playing about 140 yards. I hit an 8 iron.

Grant Holcomb, Rattlesnake Point, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Jamie King and Rahul Mehta from ClubLink and got the hole-in-one on the fifth hole on the Copperhead course, at Rattlesnake Point GC. The yardage was 175 and I hit a 5 iron.

Clark Davis, St. Andrew’s East, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with fellow members Glen Taylor, Wayne Fillmore and Mike Davis. The hole was 142 yards, playing about 130 yards. I hit a full 50 degree gap wedge, spun back and trickled in.

Christine Farrell, Rivendell Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #14, Rivendell Golf Club, par 3, 141 yards and used a 3 wood.

Mel Maitlitz, Club Golf Les Legendre’s, Hole #3

On the morning of Saturday, June 15th, 2024. Par 3, hole #3 and 169 yards. The others in his foursome visually witnessed his hole-in-one and attested his score card.

Ritchie McFadyen, Maple Ridge Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt
What a feeling to finally achieve my first hole-in-one. I played with my good friend Sandy Lorrain who has had bragging rights for her own hole-in-one on June 7, 2021. I scored it on June 8, 2024. Now were even!
Maple Ridge Golf Course in Calgary. Hole #6 was playing 167 yards downhill into a stiff breeze and I used a 7 iron. A slight cut, two hops and it rolled out of sight.

Sid Green, Avon Valley, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

Avon Valley. Hole #5. 127 yards and used a 9 iron. Playing with Mike Goss and Paul Marriott.

James Ross, 14 Wing Greenwood, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing that day with my father, Paul Ross, and his good friend, Al Slack. It was a 158 yard par 3, back blue flag. I hit an 8 iron.

Benson Lily, Picton, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was certainly exciting to get my first hole-in-one at the age of 76. My playing partners were Picton Golf Club members, Bob Fujiki, Jean Theoret and Brian Lackey. The hole was #14, a par 3 and playing 163 yards into the wind. I used a Taylor Made R-7 rescue 4 and crushed the ball high into the wind. It appeared to be headed for the flag but I thought that I had hit it long so I approached with a wedge and putter. There was no ball just off the back of the green so I sheepishly walked back to the hole and looked in. Voila! There was my ball.

Brian Prentice, Peterborough Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The distance was 175 yards and I used 7 wood. The other three members of our usual Wednesday foursome, Ivan McCully, Davy Boyle and Bill Rogers shared in my lucky accomplishment.

Noah Simon, Whitecourt, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an 8 iron from 165 yards out and windy conditions. The pin location was tucked in the back behind a bunker. I shot it in front of the hole then spun it back in.

Mark Smith, Club at North Halton, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Phil Jones, Andrew Smith and Ian Mcgucken, all from North Halton. It was 132 yards long and I used a 9 iron. Its uphill so we kind of saw it go in, but were not 100% positive, that’s why my putter is in my hand.

Karen Lavoie, Stewart Creek Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in an Alberta Golf Upswing event at Stewart Creek on Thursday, May 30th. In my group were friends Akemi Rodgers, Marcia Wong and Joan Hopgood. The yardage on my watch was 162. I chose a fairway wood because of the cool, overcast conditions. The tee shot was headed a little right of the hole, I was yelling for it to kick left which it did and we all saw it go into the hole. This is my second hole-in-one and Akemi has seen both of them!

David Barker, Mississippi Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was made on a 155 yard par 3 which I hit with my 7 iron. I was playing with my favourite golf buddies Ron and Al.

Chad Smith, Fort McMurray, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a pretty surreal feeling. I was playing golf with my girlfriend, Charyle Eddy that day. Fresh off making a birdie on the last hole, I stepped onto the tee box on hole #6, Black Bear at the Fort McMurray Golf Club. The hole was playing 143 yards with a blue pin (back pin placement). The air was heavy so I decided to hit a 9 iron. After I hit the shot, I watched the ball take dead aim at the flag stick. The pin was tucked behind the bunker and I could only see the top half of the flag stick. I told Charyle that it would close to the hole. Charyle hit her tee shot and then we headed for the green. As we approached the green, I did not see my ball and assumed it was over the back of the green and laying down in the rough. I started to walk towards the hole and Charyle asked me to wait so that she could record it if it had gone in the hole. She started recording and I walked towards the hole and sure enough there it was laying in the bottom of the cup for an ace! I was super excited for the hole-in-one! Can’t wait for the next one to happen.

Jill Howard, Uplands Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one on hole #4, 148 yards, using a driver with my partners Susan Morriss and Rita Seigo on Sunday, June 16.

Travis Teevens, Greensmere Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my buddies Jesse, Taylor and Matt. We were on the 12th hole of Greensmere Golf and Country Club’s Premiere Course. It was a front pin at 150 yards playing about 130 straight downhill. Shot a pitching wedge and asked right away if it was short. It landed on the fringe then rolled up and in. We were all a little shocked and surprised!

Nathalie Pearsall, Beaconsfield Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my mom (Sue), dad (Doug) and my friend (Phil) whom I met through the game of golf over 15 years ago. I went out on Tuesday, June 4th to play nine holes and have dinner, the classic nine and dine and ended up with more than I bargained for. Coming to the end of the round on hole #8, I pulled out my 7 iron and aimed for the front right-hand side of the green. The ball landed on the front right and rolled as it curved towards the hole and ultimately disappeared, I was in shock. I started running to the hole with my push cart bouncing along as I almost tripped on my own feet. My friend Phil filmed me and as we got to the hole, I peaked in to see my ball staring back at me. It was a moment full of excitement and I really couldn’t believe it. I’ve been golfing since I was 12 years old and I am now 29. As much as I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve often found it more and more challenging to make time for the game. Late last year I moved to an area that is closer to the course and I’ve made it my mission to schedule in as much golf as possible. The next day, following my hole-in-one, my dad sent me a text saying, “I thought you had given up on golf but golf hasn’t given up on you!” It was a great start to the season and once again, golf has found its way to suck me back in. I look forward to the 2024 season and many more to come.

Mike Porter, The Dunes at Kamloops, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

The club I hit was an 8 iron from 164 yards. I was playing with my good friends Matt, Art and Terry.

Tyler Heimpel, Rebel Creek Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two of my best friends Kevin Trussler and Chris Bruyn. Rebel Creek hole #7 was playing 153 yards into the wind to a front pin location off the gold tees. The plan was to hit a good 9 iron about 160 yards. It had eyes right of the club face. It hit the green and released about ten feet, right in the hole! The boys went nuts! It was my sixth career ace, third at Rebel Creek. My dad passed away in January of 2022, so to do on Father’s Day, this is my favourite one!

Edward Murphy, Sundre Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We played the blue tees at Sundre, #17 was 105 yards. I used a 54-degree wedge. My friends Lee Raine and Tracy Beamer were playing with me.

James Mosakos, St. George’s Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one happened on Sunday June 2, 2024. I was playing with my wife and our two sons (aged 12 and 16). Hole #8 was playing 122 yards (red tees) and I hit 9 iron. This was my second hole-in-one at St. George’s which I got in July 2003 while playing with my father, uncle and best friend. So happy to get this one with my boys there to watch. We got to the play the entire 18 holes thanks to the time of year and I ended up shooting 76 which is very good for me. So exciting all around!

Tony Wilson, Aberdeen Glen Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Tim Dorish and Kyzer Troy Auger who are both members. The hole was playing 137 yards that day. This picture was taken by Tim just a couple of minutes after I made the shot. We had a favourable wind that day on that particular hole and I was not sure if I should hit my pitching wedge or my nine iron. I chose the nine iron and hit it super clean as soon as the ball left the club I said, “oh be the club, be the club, be the club?” All three of us saw it the whole way. The ball landed about 13 inches in front of the hole took one more small bounce and then in. I started playing golf 42 years ago and this is my first hole-in-one.

David Montoya, Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 136 yards and blustery conditions. Hit with a 7 iron. Playing partners were Mr. Ken Evans Esq. and Dr. Chris Carruthers. It was the par 3 on hole #8 North at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club, my 17th hole that day.

Nicko Lucas, South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three members of South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club, Ryan Anderson, Lane Robinson and Steve Clairmont. We played the blue tees which was measuring 159 yards. I hit a 9-iron.

Mark McDonough, Norfolk Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The Norfolk Golf Club Pro Shop employee took my photo after I finished my 9 hole round in the men’s league called “Carter’s.” I used a pitching wedge from 140 yards on hole #2. The green is elevated so I did not see my ball go in the hole. My playing partner, Brian Taylor, confirmed the hole-in-one. The ball carried over the front right green side bunker and landed on the right side and kicked left. That is all we saw from the tee. When we got to the green, we did not see any ball on the surface of the green. My friend, Brian, said the ball is in the hole. I did not believe him and thought my ball went over the green on the left. Sure enough, the ball was in the hole.

Nancy Chen, Hautes Plaines, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

This was the sixth hole-in-one in my life so far. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024 which was ladies night, I played with another three Chinese ladies, they were Xiaoyin Qiu, Ruixue Huang and Jenny Yan. On hole #7, the flag was on the front, the distance was 107 yards, a bit uphill, between the tee box and the green, there was a big ravine and the wind was on our face. I used the 9 iron club, it was very solid and straight. We saw the ball jump once and disappear. We couldn’t see the ball go in, because it’s uphill, but the direction was good. Jenny shouted, “maybe a hole-in-one.” Ruixue went to green first, she wanted to confirm if it’s a hole-in-one. She waved her hand and told me it’s in.

Last year, July 8, 2023 was my fifth hole-in-one at Hautes Plaines. That day, we played our second round match play. Ruixue Huang and I vs. Manon Lamache and Carole Vachon. We won one hole on hole #16. Last two holes they still had a chance to win. Hole #17, 78 yards, on this green, the right side was higher than the left side. The flag was on the front. I used the 54 degree club, aimed a little bit right of the flag and hit it solid. We all saw the ball landed on the right of the flag and rolled into the hole. We won our match solidly.

My first hole-in-one was on June 18, 2016, at Meadows Country Club East Course hole #7. My second hole-in-one was on July 28th, 2019. It was the intersectional qualifier tournament second round at Hautes Plaines hole #13. My third hole-in-one was on September 8, 2022 at Cloverdale Links Golf Course hole #8. My fourth hole-in-one was on March 2023, I played on a simulator at Carleton Golf and Yacht Club.

Michael Vettese, Cedar Brae Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first one. I was playing with Jared Geboers and Jonathan Lee. I hit an 8 iron from 150 yards to a front pin at the 11th hole at Cedar Brae.

Bruce Douglas, Gleneagles Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #5 at Gleneagles is a 115 yard par 3. We were at the hole around nine in the morning on a beautiful sunny day here in West Vancouver, B.C. The green was in the shadows so it was difficult to see the balls land on the green. I hit my gap wedge and it felt and looked great in the air. Tracking straight for the pin. When we walked up to the green there was only one ball on the green. My playing partner said, “maybe your ball is in the hole?” For a moment I thought maybe I hit it so well it somehow went over the green? It was in the hole! I just about broke down and cried right then.

Gerry Aho, Dalewood Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

This was special for a few reasons. This was my second hole-in-one. The first one was at Trafalgar Golf Club designed by Robbie Robinson at the 13th hole. This one was at Dalewood also designed by Robbie Robinson and it was also on hole #13. A very amazing coincidence as both were over water. It was 110 yards and I used my 8 iron. I belong to a seniors group and I was playing with my usual Friday seniors group consisting of Bob Marr, Bill Willoughby and Ken Ling.

Shannon Chattington, Clare Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #4 at Clare Golf & Country Club from the red tees is 98 yards downhill and over water. I used a 7 iron and two of three friends witnessed it going in the hole.

Ray Eldred, Stone Tree Golf & Fitness Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt
I shot my hole-in-one on hole #16 at Stonetree Golf Course on June 5th. The hole was approximately 120 yards and I used a pitching wedge. I was accompanied by Mel Playter, Bill Thompson and Brian Walley.

Kyle Yetman, Galt Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

169 yards into the wind and 6 iron was the club.

Travis Burrill, Carlisle Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the fourth hole on the North course at Carlisle Golf Club, 150 yards. I hit a 5 iron. I did see it land on the green and kick towards the hole but none of us saw it go in the hole due to a knoll in front of the green. We got to the green, couldn’t find the ball, but looked in the hole and there it was. My first hole-in-one.

DuPreez Smith, Loomis Trail Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my old roommate from UBC, Charlie Gunn, and a single who joined us on the tee box of hole #5. He asked if he could join us due to the multiple four-balls ahead of him. His name was Ray, a high school golfer and a member at Loomis Trail Golf Club. He asked if we were “any good at golf,” to which we replied, “No, we’re still figuring this game out.” I then proceeded to tee up my ball and make a hole-in-one! Ray was shocked and exclaimed, “Looks like you figured it out!”

The yardage was 176 yards, with the pin situated on the back left part of the green. I chose a smooth 7-iron and committed to that. I aimed for the middle-left part of the green and drew the ball back towards the pin. The ball took one hop, checked, and trickled into the hole!

I was in disbelief at first, then overjoyed! Charlie and Ray were both really excited, and we all could not believe what had just happened. The weather was perfect, with clear skies and a slight breeze, making the moment even more memorable.

Ethan Frost, Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

It was definitely quite an exciting moment. I was playing with the Georgian College Spring Golf Showcase and my playing partners were Luke Valley and 2 other students from Aurora – I don’t remember their names sorry, we were paired up with them for the tournament. Hole #4, 144 yards and I used my pitching wedge. My mom showed up to watch me on my back 9, and since the hole was a bit backed up because it was a “beat the pro hole,” I asked her to go walk ahead and take a video of my shot. The group behind and in front of us shared in all the excitement too. It was awesome. You can see from the video that my mom took, she
was over the moon excited for me!

Blake DuCharme, Thunder Highlands Golf, Hole #9

I was playing with my friend Jimmy McCarthy, we were on hole #9 at the amazing Thunder Highlands Golf Club. Have been a member of the club the last four years and have always dreamed of getting a hole in one at my home course. Never did I expect it to happen. I had played nine holes earlier in the day with my Dad and came back that evening with my friend Jimmy. The hole plays downhill around 170 yards, pin was middle left of the green. I hit a 4 Iron, was confident with this club. As soon as I hit it, knew it was a good one. Jimmy called in as it was 100 yards away in the air. It landed 5 yards in front of the hole and rolled in. Couldn’t believe my eyes from the tee-box as the ball disappeared into the hole. We celebrated and other golfers in the parking lot couldn’t believe what they heard. Best day ever.

Adam Long, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #14

I was playing with my friend Brandon Nye and the pair leaving the 14th hole also witness the hole-in-one and they were kind enough to get a video of me taking the ball out of the hole. You can see my hand shaking in the video as I take the ball out of the hole. The distance was 155 yards and I used an eight iron. Funny part of the story was that me and Brandon were joking around right before I made the shot and said that a hole-in-one would make the round more exciting.

Colin Thacker, St. Andrew’s East Golf Club, Hole #11

I was playing with Steve Agla and James Wolanski. Hole #11 was a front left pin and playing 192 yards on June 13. I hit a 6-iron. It bounced twice before the green rolled up and in. Hit it a little thin to be honest.

Sarah Thompson, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #12

I was playing with my dad, hole #12 at Whitevale G.C., 120 yards downhill, over water with a front pin guarded by bunkers. I hit a pitching wedge that landed just short of the pin and rolled straight in. My dad asked me, “Where’s the ball?” and I replied, “I believe it’s in the hole!”

Shailine Lai, Bond Head Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my dad for the practice round of the Champion of the Champions at The Club At Bond Head. Hole #3 was playing 135 yards with my 8 iron. My dad had been on the phone with my mom as I was teeing off my shot. As the ball flew onto the green with a slight fade, it landed in front of the pin and rolled into the cup! “It’s in the hole, the ball is in the hole!” my dad shouted, still on the phone with my mom! I was still in shock at what had just happened, with utter happiness. My dad kept shouting “woo hoo!” and “yes” that other players from the other tees could hear him. As we walked onto the green, I picked up my ball from the hole and started to celebrate!

Gary Peterson, Jagare Ridge Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

On Sunday morning I got my sixth career hole-in-0ne while playing with friends Ken Shewchuk and Leslie Copeland. It was Jagare Ridge’s 13th hole a 148 yard hole, with a big right to left sloping green that hit the green and the correct spot and rolled about 25 feet into hole. I used a 7 iron and Titleist ProV ball. I was smoking one of my favourite cigars and we enjoyed a celebratory “birdie juice” after finishing the hole. Very exciting.

Beverly Suits, Salmon Arm Golf Club, Hole #7

I took lessons from Clay Stothers of the Okanagan Golf & Country Club for two years. He teaches the UBCO Heat team and the Academy boys. When we went for our nine hole playing lesson, I had two easy birdies, to which I asked him if that was good? He replied, “you have no idea how much natural talent you have.”

I took up golf around 50 when I moved to the 18th hole of the Quail. I was an international badminton champion (National title at 16 at Vancouver Lawn and Tennis). After so many competitive years in badminton, I didn’t really want to compete in golf. I enjoyed the two or four person team events in golf (I did play one zones, after a lot of encouragement shooting an 78). Won the IronWoman team of four (me being the weakest), shooting 72 from the black! Gallaghers Pro-Am and many more. It seems racquet sports and hockey transfer well to golf?

Barry Leavitt, Dominion Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my long time golf friend Mike W. along with his partner Karen M. and Mike’s brother Dave. We’ve played this track every Saturday morning for a quick nine holes before the rest of our families role out of bed for many years and May 18 was no different. I had honours stepping onto the 7th tee and scoped the pin at 167 yards. I pulled 6 iron and flushed my shot straight at the pin. Uncharacteristically, it never wavered from the line and with the elevated green we thought it was close but not sure how close. As I approached the green I couldn’t see my ball so reasonably, I pulled out my pitching wedge and putter to climb up to the green thinking I probably rolled off the back or something. A quick scan of the green area didn’t reveal my ball so I boldly walked to the cup for a peek and there it sat smiling back at me. High fives all around and I happily held the flag as the rest of the group finished up. With all the excitement don’t ask me how I did on the next hole!

Kim Furlotte, Water Valley Golf Course, Hole #13

I made a hole-in-one on hole #13 of the Water Valley Golf Course on June 12th. It was par 3 at 116 yards, using an 8 iron.

Chris Mack, National Pines Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I finally made my first hole-in-one at age 58. I was playing with some buddies at the Pines of Georgina in Pefferlaw. The back was going much better than the front when we made it to the 161 yard hole #18. I hit a 5 iron and we thought we were watching it roll off the back. We got up there and broke out in cheers when we saw my ball in the cup. The group behind us knew immediately what had happened. We took pictures and celebrated with a couple of beers afterwards. The staff made a big deal of it. Everyone at the clubhouse was just as excited as I was. It was awesome to have some long time golfing buddies witness it. I’m going to go out and try again the next day.

Daren Bulat, Country Hills Golf Club, Hole #8

I was playing with Kirby Lindal, Mark Malone and Matt Hanak. The yardage was 124 and I used a gap wedge.

Rob Dietz, Rattlesnake Point Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

On June 16, at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club, I got my fourth hole-in-one on Sidewinder hole #5. It was playing 165 yards to a back pin and I used a 6 iron. I knew it was a good shot when it came off the club. It took a bounce and made its way to the hole and then it disappeared. My wife Gail was there to witness. She has a lot of catching up to do since she only has one hole-in-one.

Kobe Menzies, Kamloops, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Carver Millard and Greg Ross from the Zone 2 Tour and had my dad out following me around that day. We got up to the sixth tee box and were chatting about a hole-in-one and I jokingly asked if Carver would pull the pin as I was getting a hole-in-one. I hit a 5 wood from 172 yards and after I hit it, I knew it would be close. Then it rolled up to the hole and disappeared! It was exciting to have my dad there to see it!

David Beyers, Chedoke Golf Club, Hole #10

I was playing with my friend Liam Crowder and the hole was 153 downhill. I hit a pitching wedge.

Nick Magyar, Pointe West Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my normal weekend group, Mike Vrionis, Leslie Rahie and Buck Marchand. It was a 135 yard shot and I hit a 52 degree wedge. This was a great early birthday present for myself, and we celebrated appropriately on the patio after our round!

Romeo Persaud, Cherry Downs, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Jim Cain and Vince Wong. The fourth hole yardage played at 161 yards, as per my Nikon Coolshot Pro ll. I used my 7 iron (TM P790) and hit a low cut into the front of the green and rolled right up and in. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to actually see the ball go in, due to the pin placement, which left me on pins and needles upon my approach.

Haley Schneider, Desert Blume Golf Club, Hole #2

It was a surreal moment for sure! I was playing with my ladies league team that night. It was 132 yards uphill to a blind green. And I used a 7 iron. I didn’t even see it drop in the hole, we drove up to the green and I grabbed my putter. Walked on the green and thought I had rolled off the side, my friend jokingly said, “check the hole” so I walked over, looked down and there it was!

Ian Kingham, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On May 22, 2024, I was playing the Predator Course at Greyhawk with three golfing buddies (Ron Allenby, Jean Boisvert and Mike Kelly). We were all playing from the white tees (5923 yards). The weather was great, not too hot or cold. I was using a Callaway Chrome Soft golf ball. I was even par after the first seven holes. The eighth hole was playing 163 yards from the whites to a white pin slightly right of center. I hit a 7 iron to just below and left of the hole and we all watched it roll up and disappear. I was somewhat skeptical that it had in fact gone in the hole but sure enough when we got to the green it was in the hole. I called it in and after the round everyone got a free drink as is the custom at Greyhawk. I was quite happy with the experience including my total score of 73 for the round. This was the second best score I’d ever had, eclipsed only by my previous round of 72. Of course, as is common with amateur golfers I haven’t come close to that since, averaging between 78 and 83 but hopefully the good golf will return soon. I am 60 years old, not a long ball hitter, but not overly short either and was having a week where it was going straight shot after shot. My irons are PXG 0311XP’s. I was very happy to have had those two games, including the hole-in-one, to have had my buddies there to witness and celebrate with me and it’s an experience I’ll never forget, but hope to repeat.

Ryan Chin, Mill Run, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was during the club’s Ryder Cup tournament and I was paired with Mike Brand, Jeff Benedetto and Ryan Fox. The hole #8 at Grist and approximately 167 yards to the hole. The club I used during the shot was a Srixon Z-forged 6 iron.

Kirby Peters, Toronto Hunt, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #6 at the Toronto Hunt. Coincidentally it was the second ace that day at the Hunt. Kyle Nichols scored one on our third hole. I was playing with my wife Jennifer Peters and Scott and Mary Tomenson. The hole was playing 122 yards. I hit an 9 iron. I’m a lucky guy. I now have a career four aces.

Bob Plamondon, Royal Ottawa Golf Club, Hole #8

It was hole #8, about 210 yards, uphill, with a driver. It is my third hole-in-one and my second on that hole.

Kevin Hunt, Timberwolf Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rob Godin, Steve Boyd and Richard Daypak. It was a little wind from the west, and I was hitting into the breeze. The hole was 115 yards and I hit my 50-degree gap wedge. It was heading straight on course all the way. Ball landed two yards from the hole and rolled so slow into the hole. We weren’t positive it went in, but I was pretty sure. If the hole was feet further, I don’t think it would have made it.

Joe Lewis, Rebel Creek Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

A beautiful Wednesday afternoon was capped off with my third hole-in-one during a Rebel Creek two man net team match. A tight match with my partner Steve Johannes against Club Pro Robert Hannah and Rebel Creek employee Liam Schweitzer. The scene of the crime was hole #17, blue tees 135 yards into a right to left hurting wind, probably playing 145 yards directly into the setting sun. Easy 9 iron all day. When I hit the shot I knew it was good, as I was just trying to hit the green for our team net match as our competitors were stroking. I lost the ball halfway to the hole due to the sun being directly into my face. As I started walking back to the cart we heard our playing partner Liam yell, “I think it went in!” Turns out Liam was the only one with young eyes who saw the ball the entire way spin off the backstop right into the cup! As it would play out that would be the only hole I won for our team all day and funny enough I was almost sawed off by Rob with a near birdie miss while stroking, thankfully Rob is a nice guy and let me have my moment. Just another day trying to put the thing in the thing!

It was such a thrill (it was my first hole-in-one). I was playing with Callahan Murphy, Kyle Cruickshanks and Mark Gagnier. I hit an 8 iron and it was playing 170yds that day. Elsie Castor, Lynx Ridge Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Tuesday, May 28, 2024 seemed like a normal golf day until hole #17 at Lynx Ridge Golf Club. The flag was blue and from the forward (red) tee it was approximately 128 yards. The path to the flag was not an easy one as you had to go over water and a sand bunker so I used my 7 wood to give myself the best chance. I was golfing with my husband and two others, all members of the club. What made it more special was the club head teaching professional Kaleb Gorbahn happened to be at the hole and watched everything from the ball flight to landing on the green to rolling in the hole. A very exciting day that I will not forget.

A.J. Mink, Parry Sound, Hole #2

It was a 114 yards and hit a 54 degree wedge and it one hopped and it disappeared. Andrew, Connor and Daniel are all members of the course. The pin was kind of tucked and I was not 100 percent if it went in as the pin was kind of tucked but, both my playing partners were very confident. I think I was in such shock that it went in that I did not even know how to react. It was a really cool feeling though.

Brampton Golf Club, June 7th, windy overcast day, bands of rain bringing downpours sideways, our group was half soaked but powered on. Double bogeyed the 12th hole while eating a Tuna sandwich. Then it happened. 13th hole, playing 140 yards, with an accessible pin placement front left. Hit a 9 iron dead straight and on line, landed on the green a few yards short, rolled, struck the right side of the pin and dropped! Golfing with my dad, brother and brother-in-law. Still can’t believe it. Shout out to whoever made that sandwich.

Beauty day, calm, no wind, Saturday evening round. Hole #6, 125 yards with a pitching wedge. It never left the flag; dunked straight in! As a former university basketball player and now coach of my daughter’s Etobicoke Thunder U16 basketball team I liked seeing it go straight in the cup, “swish!” I went nuts and my son James (15, competing on CJGA now) ran 20 yards full tilt jumping in the air for a big hug.
It was awesome, we were pumped. It was a great father son moment that we will never forget. To add to it, on the tee my son James said to me before we teed off, “Dad, yesterday I almost had a hole-in-one on this hole – hit it to two feet!” I replied, “buddy that’s amazing” and then turned to the other player in our group (Nathan Whale) and said, “have you ever had a hole-in-one?” He replied, “nope.” I said, “well then boys, why not today then.” I then stepped up to tee off and boom, it goes in! Nathan yells, “oh my god!” He just manifested it into reality!
After i had my first ever hole in one earlier in June, I did it again, well, and again, in the same round on Thursday night! It was crazy.

St George’s Golf club, Hole #3, 180 yards with a 7-iron. Only 40 minutes later I did it again,  Hole #6, 110 yards with a 50 degree wedge.

We all couldn’t believe it. Course was full that evening and we all had a great laugh with the groups in front and behind us. It was unreal and a round I’ll never forget.

That makes three in June. The first one was with my son close to Fathers Day weekend. It was a special moment. The other two were during a round with a great friend. Our plan was to do 9 and dine and have dinner with our wives after, however, once I had two aces in the front we had to keep playing! Met up as couples later that evening once off the course to celebrate. So fun.

Figured I’d share as I’m being told odds of two hole-in-one’s in a single round are 67 million to one. Not sure what they are for three in a month!

Reef Caulder, Inglewood, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing the 17th hole at Inglewood Golf and Curling Club with Ken Kajita and Paul Macleoud on a gusty evening. Hole was 190 yards into the wind with a 5-iron and Ken was the first to say, “I think that went in!”

I thought this moment would never come, but today was the day! Golfing with Scot Foster at Brookfield in Cambridge was the setting. My first swing of the day on hole #1 red. Shot was flush and we did not see the result. It was quite a surprise when we found my ball in the cup.

I was with Graham Schultz, Rob Busch and Rich Busch.
The hole was 141 yards from the blue tees, playing 137 yards adjusted according to my Bushnell x3 scope. I used a Ping g430 9 iron. It was a great memory for sure.

Ryan MacKinnon, West Hills Golf Course, Hole #5

I was playing with my buddies Jason Pictou and Steven Triska, I had 126 yards and I hit my 54 degree to about six feet and it rolled down the slope and in the hole.

Jeannie Wang, Herron Point Golf Links, Hole #11

It was amazing for me, and I was very excited about my first ever hole-in-one in my six years of playing golf. It happened on May 11th, Saturday afternoon at 2:40 pm, on hole #11. The pin was in the low area of a small valley on the green. I was playing with Jeff Gao, who is also a ClubLink member. I used my Titleist Hybrid 22-degree club and hit the ball about 110 yards solid and high. It was a rainy and windy day, and I wasn’t playing particularly well, but that was the most exciting moment and a phenomenal memory for me.

Howard Foote, Berwick Heights, Hole #11

May 20, 2024 on hole #11 at Berwick Heights Golf Course (Weston Nova Scotia). Playing from the white tees 160 yards pin was front left. Hit my Callaway RAZR X 8 iron and a Srixon Marathon. The ball had a check bounce of about eight inches the a one foot roll in. Best part is it was my first ever hole-in-one and I had the pleasure of my adult son Ryan (who nearly got a hole in one five holes later), and two fellow members were there to share in the excitement. Here is hoping for more to follow.

I was fortunate to have a hole-in-one on hole #2 on May 8, 2024. I started playing Callaway SuperSoft balls and the previous day my friend found a green one is the woods so I decided to play it. I hit a 6 iron 128 yards at the front of the green and one hope it went in the hole but not witnessed by me as I could not see that colour that far away. My playing partners (men) were screaming it went in and one of them ran down the fairway to be sure. I was more excited to see their reaction and enjoy the excitement with them. My smooth score of 80 for the round just proved to me I could hold myself together. Our club gives us a flag and my playing partners all signed it. Hole-in-one number three for me.

My playing partners for the day were Brett Way and Danny Kalfus. We were playing the gold tees that day and the hole was about 145 yards up hill with a right to left cross wind, I grabbed my 9 iron and hit it about as well as I’ll ever hit a golf ball and the rest was history! Funny enough Brett and I were just talking about how poorly we had been playing up until that point where I told him, “I just need to make a good swing here to get back on track.” Unfortunately, due to the hole design I didn’t watch it go in the hole from the tee, but we were elated to walk up to the green with my ball playing a disappearing act in the hole! Needless to say the celebrations would begin immediately after with some loud yelling and cheering that grabbed the attention of groups ahead and behind.

Was a special moment for sure! Unbeknownst to me, an old friend and colleague of my father recently joined our club (Oshawa Golf & Country Club), during a spring kick-off event where my father was a guest, we ran into each other at the turn. After some quick catching-up, we instantly scheduled a round a few weeks out. May 16th rolls around, we’re out on the course having a great time. Solid driver and hot flat stick left me with a -3 out, and sitting -4 thru 12 holes. Managed to keep it together through a really tough back-nine stretch (12, 13, 14, Oshawa’s Amen Corner) and had a good shot to beat my career best of 70, if I was to birdie 18. Playing 133 yards to a middle/front pin, I hit a pure 50 degree wedge with a slight draw. Took one hop, bit hard, and dropped for the ace and I carded a 68! What a feeling! Was a truly special moment to share it with my Dad, especially after we lost his father (my grandfather) earlier in the year. It was my second hole-in-one (September 2022 was the first), that happened to be with my older brother, that was also a 130 yard gap wedge! I guess I found my hole-in-one recipe? All around thankful that I got to experience that feeling and share it with family and friends. Truly, what makes golf special, are those unexpected moments and we will never forget that day. Also, shout out to my clubs hole-in-one insurance! The ladies in the club house bar knew what to do and snagged the best glass of red-wine we had on offer, a veteran move for sure!

My wife, Alice Donaldson, and I were playing Vespra hills for the first time on May 20th, 2024. Vespra Hills had joined the ClubLink family of clubs earlier this year so we took the two hour drive from Acton to check it out. Vespra is a beautiful golf course and we look forward to playing it again. We were paired up with a very nice couple, Iris Pallas and Jim Strano who are local members at Vespra Hills. The hole-in-one was one hole #14. It was a front pin measuring 169 yards. I hit a 6 iron, two bounces and in the hole. This was my third lifetime hole-in-one, the other two were in 2008 at Glencairn Golf Club and in 2000 at Georgetown Golf Club. It was a 16 year wait since the last one. My wife has had seven hole-in-one’s so I’m still trying to catch up.

Phil Lafleche, Glencairn, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

My second hole-in-one in 10 months. The morning of May 16th. It was on hole #7 Speyside at Glencairn. The hole was 150 yards from the tee box, we were facing a small breeze so I pulled out my new PXG 28 degree hybrid. The ball landed left of the pin and rolled down in. My teammates were Tim Black, Peter Cooke and Rick Ball. My first was on August 21st, 2023 on hole #3 Leithfield at Glencairn. 143 yards out, took my 7 iron, hit it on the slope left of hole and it rolled in. We didn’t quite see it go in but as we approached the green there wasn’t a ball to be seen. My pal Sten Hagevik ran to the hole and cheered. We were only a twosome that day. Now I’m working on a third.

Fortunately, I was playing with seven other guys (three in my group, four in front of us watching that hole beside the tee block). Mixture of both friends and family. It was 144 yards, playing 140 yards with a slight tail wind. I used a full swing 52 Kirkland lob wedge and watched it bounce once near the pin and that’s all we could see because of the slight downhill. One of the guys from the group in front shouted, but they’re my friends — so one, they would’ve shouted if it had just missed or two, there’s a chance they could be messing with me and pretending, haha. Nonetheless, once we drove up it was about two feet beyond the hole where it landed and back spun into the cup. My first and only hole-in-one. Been chasing that feeling ever since!

A group of 8 of us were staying at two cottages in South Hampton for the long weekend. We are part of a larger golf group called the Plaid Jacket (14 current members). We play match plays through the season and have a year-end tournament the weekend after labour day. This is our 29th year together. This was a warm up weekend to play the courses we will be playing in September this year. We played two rounds at Cobble Beach on the Thursday, Legacy Ridge on the Friday, South Hampton Golf Club on Sunday and Grey Silo on the Monday. It was a six round weekend for some of us. On the Saturday, a group of six of us tee’d it up at Saugeen Golf Club which had hosted our Plaid Jacket two years ago. They have a tournament during our time up there this year so we are playing Cobble Beach in September. We started our round on the Legacy 9 and were having a great time. I wasn’t playing especially well to start the back 9 on Sunrise but played the last five holes two under! Hole-in-one helped. I was the last to tee off in our group and took my 7 iron from 156 yards. It was tracking the entire way. We were yelling at it to get close. The ball landed 12 feet short of the green and rolled up to the pin and seemed to stop on the edge. I just stared at it while my buddy Murph looked away. When it dropped I started jumping up and down screaming as loud as I could. Murph came running over and I jumped into his arms. He’s the one pointing at me in one of the pictures. Dave was right behind him to congratulate me. Our other group was on the tee blocks of hole #6 and could see and hear us. They also came over to celebrate. It was so great to have some of the Plaid Jacket members there that day to witness it. Murph and I have been friends for 36 years and play a lot of golf together. Always competing of course! Everyone asks me how much the bar bill was, I got off pretty lucky, there were six of us and only about eight people in the clubhouse when we finished our round. To continue with the hole in one stories for our group. We have five in total at different outings over our almost 30 years. One of our other members had a hole-in-one last week on June 5th at Savannah hole #11, golfing with other Plaid Jacket members. Two of our guys got hole-in-one’s on the same day from the same cart a few years ago! I had the first of our group on a par 4 at Hunters Pointe in Welland about 17 years ago.

After 20 years of playing this frustrating game, I finally got my first hole-in-one. I was playing with really good friends of mine, Josh Czerniak, Darren Walls and Allan Blakley. It was a 147 yard pitching wedge. All of us got to see it go in which made it even better.

Tim Hollman, Olds Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

On this particular Wednesday, I was playing with Mark Schultz, Matt Hoeg, and Scott Hansen. The distance was 197 yards, with the wind into us. I clubbed up (due to wind and aeration) and hit a 5 iron on a rope, landing about eight feet short of the pin and bounced slightly left with a short second hop and then the ball disappeared. Scott was the most excited as it was his first hole-in-one he had ever witnessed. In the air half way to the hole he yelled for the ball to “get in the hole” which I thought it wasn’t going to, but a good kick and it dropped. This was my fourth hole-in-one. Mark was also playing with me for my first.

Les Kehler, Quarry Oaks, Hole #8

The hole was 115 yards. Used a Titliest Pro VI. And club used PXG Gen5 gap wedge.

Todd Steeves, Mountain Woods Golf Club, Hole #9

I was golfing with Scott Lewis (member at Mountain Woods). Hole #9 is 121 yards it was playing approximately 127 yards that day with a blue flag. I used a pitching wedge to get my hole-in-one.

Brian Welch, Windermere, Hole #11

Hole #11, par 3 is the course’s signature hole, a downhill shot to a green surrounded by a sand trap left and pond to the right. The hole plays about 155 yards to the middle. The pin was up front on May 18th, so playing about 147 yards. I hit a 7 iron straight at the hole, one bounce and in. The shot was witnessed by my playing partners, David Doyle and David McDermott. It was also a good scoring day. I shot my age, 75.

Kurt Janssen, Mickelson National Golf Club, Hole #17

I had my first ever (after 54 years) hole-in-one on hole #17 at our club on May 9th. It was a little windy that day and I figured it wasn’t going to make it into the wind. It had a good line but my eyes couldn’t tell where it landed, however my son (playing partner) said he saw it land and then couldn’t see it anymore so he figured it must have gone in. And he was correct. It was at Mickelson National Golf Club, 180 yards with a 5 iron.

I would like to share an exhilarating experience that took place on May 16, 2024 at Lakeside Golf & Country Club in Moncton, New Brunswick. It was a sunny yet windy day, creating a challenging but enjoyable environment for our round of golf. During our game, accompanied by three friends, I managed to achieve the unimaginable, a hole-in-one! The shot was on hole #14. At 125 yards, I took out my 8 iron, lined up my shot and struck the ball with confidence. Watching the ball soar though the air, it landed about 15 feet from the hole and rolled in. Unbelievable and unforgettable moment. I hope everyone who golfs get to experience this at least once in their lifetime.

Thank you for your letter and I am honored to receive the attention from you and the Golf Canada team. I am willing to share my joy in golf with you, because I want to be a person with stories in my golf journey. The hole-in-one happened at the CJGA tour event held at Fort Langley GC (May 11-12). In the second round, I competeted with Sky Sun and Emil Liddell. I used a #5 iron to score a hole-in-one at 184 yards on hole #15. This was my first hole-in-one in a golf tournament, and it was very memorable.

Jared Jenkins, Crystal Ridge Golf Club, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

Last night my fiancé and I made a last-minute decision to play a quick nine holes in Okotoks at Crystal Ridge Golf Club. The first hole is a narrow 375 yard par 4 and I finally hit one straight after playing the course a handful of times. The starter said, “holy smokes, I think that’s on the green!” He was so excited he drove up with us to see. We looked and looked but couldn’t find my ball anywhere! Finally, my fiancé looked, and it was in the hole! I was four under thru three holes and finished a horrendous five over par total (nine holes). Guess I used up all my luck!

Barrie Mcconachie, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

Was playing that day with my wife Jennifer Rikely. We are both long term members at Fairview Mountain Golf in Oliver, BC. The flag on hole #10 that day from the blue tees was 135 yards, front flag, about ten paces on. I hit a pitching wedge just past and right of the hole, and it spun back and into the hole. The interesting part is that we couldn’t really see the ball go in the hole. The sun was directly in our eyes. I said to Jennifer, “I think it went in.” It wasn’t until we got to the green and confirmed that we got the excitement of the moment. This is now my new favourite shirt and the ball is on the shelf over my desk.

Monik Albert, Hautes Plaines, Hole #7

After playing golf for 50 years I thought it would never happen for me. On May 8, 2024 the magic occurred. On thole #6 of my home club, Penticton Golf and Country Club, I hit a pitching wedge 122 yards into a head wind. The ball landed 24 inches left of the front flag location and checked forward, spun back and to the right, rolling into the cup. I have started the habit of asking the question “Is today the day?” On a well struck ball heading towards the flag, on this day it was! It was an amazing experience and hope to do it again!

Mitch Jones, Applecross Country Club, Hole #3

I was playing with two good friends and teammates of mine in the lacrosse world at the beautiful Applecross Country Club, never did I expect the day to go like it did.

Hole #3 was playing about 185 yards with a slight downhill, I chose a 6 iron and hit a good one that took a great first bounce on the green and started rolling directly at the cup. It actually found its way behind the hole and appeared to sit right on the back edge. My playing partner with better vision then I started yelling that it was trapped leaning on the flagstick and started running towards the hole, he even yelled, “Look up the rules that’s a hole-in-one!”

I wasn’t as convinced as we all have had those shots that appear perfect from distance but when you get closer are faced with a knee knocking five to ten footer to deal with. So I tempered my expectations. Pleased with the stroke nonetheless I took my time getting into the cart and driving up, when I was about 40-50 yards away I saw it clearly drop in and that’s when I started celebrating!

To wrap up the story and add some humour. On the fourth tee I was still in mild shock and I ripped the ball into the woods never to be found again! Haha!

Darren Sabino, Wyldewood Golf & Country Club, Hole #9

I was playing with my two favourite golf partners – Ernie Bordin and Rob Andrews. In fact I am truly grateful to have been able to share the moment with them.

It was our first 18 of the season. It was the 9th hole, playing 149 yards. I hit a 7 iron and it took one hop and disappeared! The 9th hole plays to the clubhouse so there were quite a few witnesses.

Tucker Braund, Coyote Springs Golf Club, Hole #3

It was hole #3, 185 yards into the wind with a 5 iron, two bounces, rolled and broke right into the hole, which we could see from the tee box! I was playing with three friends I’ve played with since we were all junior members at Pinebrook in Calgary. It was one of my friends bachelor party, so even more fun to do it there!

Joseph Abbatangelo, Mill Run Golf Club, Hole #9

What an awesome day today! My first round of the season alongside my 11-year-old daughter Valentina. On hole #1, she takes a Titleist ProV1 ball out of her bag (with a TD Canada Trust logo) and says, “Here Dad, use this ball!” On hole #9 at Mill Run Golf Club (Highland Course), I hit an 8 iron from 183 yards with a 20 mph tailwind. The ball bounced on the front of the green and headed straight to the hole. The entire walk up to the green my daughter asks me, “Daddy, where is your ball?” I kept repeating, My ball is in the hole! I decided to video the last 30 yards to the green and it was awesome to see her pull my ProV1 out of the hole! After 30 years of golf, I shared my first hole-in-one with my youngest daughter. She quickly reminds me that she got her first hole-in-one after only six weeks of starting golf. Lucky for me, the 19th hole drinks were cheap, only a few root beers!

R.A Jones, Oshawa, Hole #18

The 18th hole, 98 yards, red tees and I hit a seven iron.

My playing partners were Gavin Watts, Steve Poots and Bill Lyon. Bill Lyon happens to be 92 years old and plays regularly at the club. Half the time he shoots his age.

I have done the cycle at Oshawa, I have had hole-in-one on holes #3, #5, #12 and now #18 I have been a member at Oshawa since 1970.

I don’t have a picture of the event, but I have something even better. I have a video of the hole-in-one. It just happened by fluke that a member of our Green Crew was checking out the camera over the 18th hole and was taking pictures while I was on the tee.

Ron Macdonald, Legends, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Masters Sunday, cI alled and asked Legends if they had room for a single. So I was a walk on with a twosome, Griffith and Luke.

Second round of the year, it was about a 35-40 km wind directly into my face on the 8th hole it was playing at 171 yards. Plus the wind. I used a 7th heaven wood and it was on line right off the tee and landed about 12 feet short and then rolled in.

My first hole-in-one!

Cameron Weir, Two Eagles, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a nice couple as my friend was too “sick” to make it for our tee time. It was 163 yards with a cross wind. I hit a stock 7 iron. Watching it land left of the pin and start rolling towards it, knowing it was getting better and better, great to have a short birdie putt. But all of a sudden, the ball disappeared. Quite a surreal experience!

Jason Porter, Devon and the Devon Golf and Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing at Devon Golf and Country Club on April 29th with my wife Chantelle and Isabella, my 10 year old daughter, for her first round ever. Got to hole #9 and drained it with my 5 iron. Was a great memory for my daughter. She loves the game and now wants to get one herself!

John Hamilton, Windsor Park Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my first hole-in-one on April 21, 2024 at Windsor Park Golf Course in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Hole #16, 160 yards with a 7 iron into the wind. Landed in front of the flag stick and we watched it role back and disappear! I was golfing with three others (one Golf Canada member) and had them sign the scorecard and attest the round.

Marilyn Webster, Carnoustie Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with fellow ladies club members Irene Clarkson, Denise Pineau and Janine Wilson on April 5th when I got my second hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Carnoustie Golf Club. It was 115 yards to the pin over water. I pulled out an 8-iron, but as I had been pulling my irons that day and didn’t want to end up in the bunker on the left, I put the 8-iron back in my bag and pulled out my trusty 7-hybrid and teed it up higher than normal. As it bounced and rolled towards the hole Irene grabbed my arm and said, “It’s going in’” but I thought I could see my ball sitting just past the pin. As we walked up to the green and my ball was nowhere to be seen, I started to think that maybe it had gone in the hole and sure enough, it had! We had to have a shot of birdie juice to celebrate the occasion before heading to the next hole to finish our round.

Andy Alcock, Summit, Hole #2

James Finlay, Riverside Country Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two other new members and friends, Andy Jay and Nick Demerchant. We got out early for a quick nine holes and opted to play the back nine.

The hole was the 18th hole at Riverside Golf and Country Club. The hole was 195 yards, a bit into the wind, but downhill. I opted to use a 7 iron, as the previous day I used a 6 iron and proceeded to lose two balls into the woods left of the hole.

I hit a straight shot that landed just short of the green and rolled up and into the cup. Thankfully we had a great view of the ball rolling into the hole. After celebrating what we were confident was a hole-in-one, I ran down to the hole to collect my ball.

What an experience!

Rob Connell, Mall River Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 138 yards. I used an 8 iron. My playing partners were Gerard MacDonald, Peter Johnston and Zach Connell.

Joey Fabing, National Pines Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Shane Quinlan and Sentilar Sebastian. The yardage was 114 yards and hit a pitching wedge. It flew pass the hole and spun it back. We got to see it all the way.

Matt Knox, Georgetown Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Saturday, May 4th, Georgetown Golf Club hosted their men’s opening golf tournament. My brother Bradley Knox got a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. The following day, Sunday, May 5th, I was golfing with my wife (Courtney Knox), as well as a friend of ours (Dima Babych). We got to hole #8, and it was playing 142 yards (adjusted to about 135 yards downhill). I hit a 52 degree wedge and it landed behind the pin and spun back into the hole! All in all, a very memorable weekend for the Knox brothers!

Zach Vanderlee, Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners for the day were Brett Way and Danny Kalfus. We were playing the gold tees that day and the yardage was about 145 up hill with a right to left cross wind, I grabbed my 9 iron and hit it about as well as I’ll ever hit a golf ball and the rest was history! Funny enough Brett and I were just talking about how poorly we had been playing up until that point where I tol him, “I just need to make a good swing here to get back on track.” Unfortunately, due to the hole design I didn’t watch it go in the hole from the tee, but we were elated to walk up to the green with my ball playing a disappearing act in the hole! Needless to say the celebrations would begin immediately after with some loud yelling and cheering that grabbed the attention of groups ahead and behind.

Anne Moore, Loyalist Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my first hole-in-one on hole #8 September 5, 2016. On Monday, May 6, I played with my two regular golf companions – Jackie Nesbitt and Lorne Sarmiento. It’s a short par 3 (85 yards), but with the gusty crosswind I used more club than normal. My Ping 425 7 did the magic. I’m in my 70’s, so age doesn’t matter in golf for hole-in-ones!

Lynn Pavlik, The Pulpit Club – Pulpit, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband, Jim Cambell, on Monday, April 29th and the hole-in-one occurred on hole#3 at the Pulpit. The distance was 144 yards that day and I used my 7 hybrid. It was later in the day with gloomy weather so there were only a handful of members in the clubhouse to celebrate. I would have happily bought the entire club a round! My husband was extremely excited for me too and was texting all his golf buddies. Jim is my favourite golf partner so it was extra special that he was with me that day. I have also been struggling with a very damaged knee so the hole-in-one was a wonderful gift from the golf gods.

Chad Hauser, Highwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Last year I had my first hole-in-one on a par 3 at The Canal at Delecour Golf Club in my second round of the season in May. This year it was another great start to the season and my fourth round of the season at the Highwood Golf & Country Club. It was the 17th hole, 306 yards. I pulled out my 9 degree Taylormade Stealth Driver and knew that I needed to go over the trees and water to go straight at the green. I had a line and told my playing partners Mike Grainger and Cory Williams that I need to go right over the tip of the tall pine tree but need to tee it a little higher so that it will land soft if I hit the green. I choked down my driver a couple inches and teed it up a little higher and let it go. It came off the face absolutely perfect. Once it went over the trees we couldn’t see it. My one partner Mike said, “I think it should be just left of the green.” and my other partner Cory said, “How about more like just left of the pin.”

We drove up the fairway and they hit there second shots and I was looking through my laser and couldn’t see anything on the green or around the green. We pulled up and automatically went to the back of the green and checked the bunkers because I have driven over this green before. Cory didn’t see anything, so I decided I would just go look at the hole. Sure enough as soon as I got towards the hole I saw the ball. We went absolutely crazy! Everyone within two fairways of us heard us! I had always wanted to get a hole-in-one on a par four. I have been inside of 3’ a few times in my life, but never thought this was going to happen. It was definitely an awesome day!

So now I have two hole-in-ones, par 3, par 4, and an albatross on a par 5 as well. Definitely things I didn’t think I would be able to do.

Dawson Gilgan, Prince George Golf Club, Hole #10

It was my first hole-in-one and I was pretty excited. It was hole #12, 172 yards and I used a 7 iron. I was playing with my buddy Carman Penner. The best part was there were two maintenance guys at the back of the green that started celebrating before I did! They were very excited and kind, and even notified the pro shop on my behalf. The team in the pro shop had a nice souvenir waiting for me when we finished our round. The whole team at Blue Devil deserves kudos for how awesome they were.

It was great! Played with a few members here at the club, Mal Smithson, John Gardner and Ed Devries! It was playing 181 yards into the wind and I hit a 5 iron! Initially, I thought it was long and then I heard Mal from the other tee block yell over to say it was in! I couldn’t believe it! There was excitement and fear knowing it was our Men’s League opening dinner that night and it could get expensive! All in all, it is a moment I will never forget!

Francis Macdonald, River Hills Golf Club – Shelburne, Hole #18

Happened at River Hills Golf and Country Club on hole #18 using a 8 iron. Bounced twice than rolled into the hole. It was about 115 yards. Playing with Bobby Stoddard Sr. and Don Dares.

By the way Bobby had a hole-in-one about a week and half earlier. I missed his as I wasn’t there but two of us in our regular group has an ace. His was on hole #10.

I was with ClubEG on their annual trip to Binghamton, NY at the Conklin Players Club. On the Saturday, April 27th outing I was playing with Owen Preston from ClubEG along with Jack Kenny and Keith Blake from Brockville Country Club. It was hole #2, playing 111 yards. I hit my pitching wedge and was asking for it to get a big bounce so it would get up and on the green. The ball landed just short of the green and rolled up to the hole, breaking from right to left. We watched as the ball went behind the pin and then disappeared, obviously falling backwards into the hole.

Been playing for over 30 years and this was my first ace! Such a great experience. It was hole #15 at Oakfield Golf and Country Club. 160 yards from the white with a 7 iron. Playing partners were Mike Juurlink, Kyle Millen and Ryan Millen.

Trish Snowdon, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my first hole-in-one ever so needless to say I was pretty excited. I was playing with my partner, Jayne Boyle, and her two sons Jonathan and Michael Cramton. The day was overcast and rain had been falling for a few holes. The 13th hole has an elevated green with water directly in front. We were playing the white tees, so it was about 140 yards. I pulled out my 5 hybrid and just thought, “get it over the water.” My shot went up directly in line with the flag and landed on the little crest right before the green. We saw it roll off the hill and Jonathan immediately said, “Oh, this has a chance.” Then it disappeared. Because it’s elevated, we couldn’t see where it went after it came off the hill. We jumped in the carts and took off for the green. I fully expected it to have rolled past the pin and be on the far side of the green. But as we got closer, no ball was in sight. I sprinted up to the flag, still holding my club and sure enough, there it was at the bottom of the cup. My TaylorMade TPS 5 was staring back up at me. Let the whooping commence. Even some guys a couple holes over were cheering and giving air high fives. Definitely a hole to remember!

Ingrid Kim, Langara Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

On Langara Ladies Club Day last April 30, Anne Findlay-Shirras, Geordie Stowell, Shelley Sluggett and I teed off in group six. On the 130-yard second hole, after hitting the tee with a 5-wood club, I came down from the tee box after seeing that my ball had landed well on the green and was rolling toward the hole cup. I arrived at the green and couldn’t find the ball right away on and around the green, but eventually, we found my ball sitting in the hole cup and shouted “hole-in-one!” Everyone shouted in unison.

Rylan Isaac, Valleyview Delisle Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt
Sunday, May 5th 2024 I was golfing with my brother, Corey, at Delisle Valley View Golf Club. It was a cool, windy day. We stepped onto the fourth tee and I lasered the flag. 169 yards with a roughly 30km/h wind dead into. I estimated it was playing about 190 yards to the flag which was cut left centre of the green. I grabbed a 6 iron and flighted it down into the wind. The ball started at the right/centre of the green and began working right to left, pitching about 15 feet short of the pin. Just before the ball reached the green I heard Corey say, “Get in the hole.” This got the attention of a buddy of ours who was in his backyard, which backs the tee box, with his family. We all watch as the ball continues to roll towards the hole, breaking right to left, and then disappears! Everyone starts cheering and I turn around to look at Corey in disbelief! It was my first hole-in-one and an incredible feeling as I was starting to believe it may never happen. I then proceeded to three putt bogey the next hole (of course), but still finished the round with a one over par 70. Fun fact, my buddy who was in his backyard with his family also recorded a hole-in-one on this same hole last year while his family watched from the deck!

Jeff Reader, Whispering Pines, Hole #5

On hole 5, I used an 8-iron to get my hole-in-one. The blue tees are under repairs and we shot from the red tee box. The yardage from the red tee off is 116. I was golfing with Eric Belanger and Carl Berends who are also members at Whispering Pines Golf and Country Resort.

Andrew Crow, The Oaks of St. George Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first week of my men’s league at The Oaks of St. George Golf Club. I was having a bad round but having fun as it was the first week for my league foursome to be back together. Blaine, Tony and I played simulator golf all winter but hadn’t played with Teddy since last summer. There is nothing like the verbal abuse Teddy brings to the game. On to the game, I hit a great drive on the par 5 hole #4 but managed to stick handle my way to bogey. We came up the hill to the tee box on hole #5 downed our birdie drinks because Tony drained his birdie putt on hole #4. Hole #5 at The Oaks is a Beautiful Downhill shot with a pond and bunker to the left and a big bunker to the right with a Big Willow tree at the back left. The green is an upside down “L” shape bending to the left with a small bunker at inside of the bend. It plays 127 yards to the front and 143 yards to the back. The pin placement was in the hardest spot on the green four feet from front the edge just past bend and the bunker at about 135 yards. Tony went first and didn’t hit his 9 iron well and ended up pin high. I also had my 9 iron in hand but was too lazy to walk back up the hill to my bag and grab my wedge so I tee’d up my 9 iron and hit a 75% shot really clean. It landed just clear of the bunker slowly rolled in. Of course most of my group was still celebrating Tony’s previous birdie and weren’t sure it went in. I was pretty sure but have been close in the past and didn’t want to get too excited. As we came up to the green Tony ran up to hole and started screaming. At that point my legs got a little wobbly. I couldn’t believe it, it finally happened.

I was playing with Ray, Mark and Verne; all members of the Mississippi Golf Club. The hole-in-one was on the fifth hole, a short par 3 of about 107 yards. I used a pitching wedge. This was my second hole-in-one on this hole and of the three that I’ve had, the only one I have seen actually go in.

Fraser Sutherland, Fort McMurray Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing hole #8 on our Black Bear nine at Fort McMurray Golf Club. It was playing 171 yards and I hit a 5 iron. My playing partners were from left to right: Barry Reid, Claude Howse, me (Fraser Sutherland) and Brian Goodale.

Cameron MacPherson, Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was the 15th hole at Two Eagles, which was playing 152 yards to a front pin. I used an 8 iron to get there. I was playing in a junior tournament with three others around my age. The round started with torrential rain which seemed to ease off right after hole #13.

Sherri Carroll, Kawartha Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a cool, breezy morning, golfing with my ladies Diane Johnson and Krista Thompson, my second round of the season that started at the pro shop looking to sign up for a refresher lesson with Shanna as my first round was so bad! After this hole I thought, “maybe I will just stick with what I know.” Big surprise and great start to my season.

Robert Hindle, Credit Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my buddies, Ken Johnson, Jim Carmichael and Bob Babensee. On hole #7, at 143 yards, managed to hit a pure 7 iron. It flew high and straight at the pin, landed and rolled about 10 feet, and disappeared into the hole. I started playing golf as a 12 year old, and now, 64 years later, I finally got my first ever hole-in-one!

Shamin Babul, Mayfair Lakes Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It only took me 22 years to get my very first hole-in-one. On Saturday May 4, I was playing with three other lady members at Mayfair. (Lynne, Judy and Gin). The yardage to the hole, as per my watch was 111 yards. I used my 9 wood which normally hits about 105-107 yards. It was a great shot. Flew high and landed about four feet from the flag. We could see it rolling towards the hole. My playing partners got all excited, but I reassured them that it was probably sitting behind the pin. Low and behold, it was in the hole. What an amazing feeling it was. One to remember forever.

Lillian Zeng, Fraserview Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one on hole #3 , which is a par 3, at Fraserview Golf Course in B.C. on May 3rd. I used a 6 iron aiming for 130 yards and I did it perfectly. I also made my best score of my three years of golfing.

Mark Whitwam, Greensmere Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my golf partner Chris Koch in the Nortel (Northern Telecom) golf league against Dick Keilty and Bill Allan. (Nortel went bankrupt almost 20 years ago, but the golf league lives on with 45 two man teams in three leagues playing Monday and Wednesday evenings at three different Ottawa golf courses). Chris and I have been partners in the league since 1992 and we have won six times including last year. Playing last Monday at the Greensmere golf and country club, from the white tees I hit a 7 iron at the 150 yard 3rd hole on the Premiere course. The ball bounced once in front of the pin and then disappeared. Hole-in-one? When I got to the green, I checked the hole and my ball was at the bottom of the cup. It is my 2nd hole in one. The first was also in the Nortel golf league in 1998.

Jackson Fabris, Mickelson National Golf Club, Hole #3

I was playing with Mateo Kern, Alex Adler and Max-Hamel-Balaski. It was 74 yards and I hit a 54 degree.

The moment I watched the ball roll out of site I knew it had gone into the hole. Then like everyone’s worst nightmare I remembered I was golfing alone so to the world it might not be official but to myself and all my family and friends it does. I was playing a par three on the back nine. It was about 135 yards as I didn’t range it specifically and I used my pitching wedge to carry the distance.

I was playing with my dad and grandpa, as we usually do every week. It was an amazing experience, and a memorable one to have that happen with my family. With my 7 iron in hand looking at the tee box sign I thought about how cool it would be to get a hole-in-one on #17 considering 17 is our family’s lucky number. I was 210 yards out and as soon as the ball landed on the green close to the pin I heard my Dad yell, “It’s going in” then roll about four feet and drop in the cup! We all jumped in the air together in joy sharing the amazing moment together with my dad and grandpa! Special thanks to Ponoka Golf and Country Club for having the course ready in great condition as this was my practice round for my upcoming Alberta Men’s Amateur Central Qualifier.

How exciting to score a hole- in-one on #10 while golfing on Sunday afternoon, April 14th, in Courtenay, B.C. at our home club of Sunnydale. I must say I hit a pretty good 8 iron 117 yards and was just happy to hit the green. My friends Jen Zbinden, Kathy Binns and Kim Haaf were yelling that it went in the hole as well as the foursome on the next tee. I couldn’t believe it as I never even get a KP on ladies day! To make it even more fun I was playing with Kathy when she got a hole-in-one the year before at our ladies Tillicum tournament. Plus, a couple years earlier I was with another friend Linda Broadbent when she got a hole-in-one. It was the second time for me as I had scored one in my first year of golfing 40 years ago in the early 80’s. Guess I’ll be an old golfer when I score the next one.

I was having a not so great round, but it soon took a turn for the better! I was with my fiancé, John Taylor, and our friends from Lindsay, Ontario, John Walsh and Leigh Amyotte! It was hole #17, a par 3, 115 yards. I used a pitching wedge. I’ve only been golfing since May 2023, thanks to the COVID pandemic! It’s something I have always wanted to learn but just didn’t have the opportunity. I have to thank my guy, John, for guiding me and always pushing me to be better, but most importantly, to be honest with my scoring, “No gimmes.” I am obsessed with the game and love trying to get better with every single round. Some are good, some are not. But that’s golf! It only takes one great shot to bring you back!

I made a hole-in-one on May 20, 2024, on hole #4 at Olympic View Golf Course in Victoria, B.C. The hole was playing 139 yards from the white tee. There was a slight breeze against us. I used a 7 iron, usually my 150 yard club. The ball landed short of the hole, ran out, breaking right as it did and went into the hole. We did not see it go in but thought it was going to be within 15 feet of the hole. Frank Mikkers and David Tobacco were my playing partners. This was my second hole-in-one. The first one was also on this hole years ago.

Posted round to Golf Canada on May 16th scoring 40 for nine holes.

I hit an 8 iron from 141 yards out on hole #8. The ball landed just to the left of the pin, spun to the right and disappeared. At first, we weren’t sure if the ball just rolled off the green and out of sight. But we also thought, “I think that went in the hole.” As we walked closer to the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen. Sure enough, we get up to the hole and there’s the ball. Unbelievable feeling and one that I won’t ever forget. I’m still in disbelief that it happened!

I hit a 6 iron from 185 yards. It bounced twice and rolled the final 10 feet into the cup. We teed off from an elevated green so we could see it drop. I was playing with my best friend Marc Chiswell and two locals. It was a wonderful experience I will never forget!

I got a hole-in-one on hole #7 at Hemet Golf Course in Hemet, California on November 24th, 2023. I used a 5 hybrid and the yardage was 127 yards. This was my second hole-in-one, what makes this funny is my first hole-in-one was at Lacombe Golf Course in Lacombe, Alberta on hole #7 which is also a par 3!

Phil Rebus, Cove Cay Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

My ace took place at the Cove Cay Golf Club in Clearwater, Florida on the par 3, hole #12 late in the afternoon on March 23, 2024. I was playing with my wife Stephanie and two gentlemen from Chicago, Mark and Scott. I hit a pitching wedge from 122 yards, which turned out to be a one hopper that ended up in the jug. Because of the pin position (just behind a front bunker) and green elevation I did not see the shot go in, however a man on a neighbouring tee let out a cheer and walked over to shake my hand. I couldn’t believe my ball had gone in, but after walking up to the green we found the ball mark approximately two feet in front of the hole and my ball in the cup.

Carmen Auciello, Blackmoor Golf Club, Hole #15

The hole was playing 153 yards, slightly downwind. I hit a 9 iron that was right at it the whole time and basically one bounced into the hole! It was a surreal moment and was a great way to end our golf trip to Myrtle Beach. I was playing with Jim Schmidt, Glenn Crisp and Derek Haughton. Was a lot of fun.

David Dischiavi, Cherry Downs, Hole #6

I was playing with my buddy Evangelos (Evange) Bethanis, he’s a Golf Canada member as well. The hole is listed at 170 yards, I gunned it at 157 and used an 8 iron. If you want a few more details it was into the wind with a big of a push off the right, little baby draw and it rolled in. The group in front of us heard the pin shake and walked to the green and saw it in the cup.

Dan White, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

My second round at the club this year after opening on Friday, I was playing with two good friends; Michael Dixon and Ryan Smyth on a mid Sunday morning round. The wind is regularly gusty at Whistle Bear Golf Club, and as we reached the par 3, hole #14, my playing partners lasered the flag at 155 yards with a good wind into us from the left. The pin located in the middle to back left on the green with the hole not visible in the landing area. I hit a 7 iron left over the green side bunkers watching the wind drift it back towards the flag, not knowing what happened after it landed. As we walked up, the group in front of us walked over the hill from the 15th tee shouting we think that went in. In disbelief, Mike gets there ahead of me and checks the hole and confirms it, my ball is in the hole, for my first hole-in-one!

Jeff Gossack, Deer Creek, Hole #8

I’ve been playing golf since 1975 starting from when I was a junior at the old Green Valley golf course in Saint Monique, Quebec. I have been moved on to play golf at Cedarbrook Golf and Country Club for two years and then Hillsdale Golf & Country Club for 22 years. I am currently now a member of Elm Ridge Golf and Country Club in Ile Bizard, Quebec for the last three years. Where I’m currently a member of our senior intersectional team. Believe it or not, it took me 60 and a half years to finally enjoy the moment of making my first hole-in-one. I have literally been on the lips several times, hit sticks, rolled over the hole countless times. But it never dropped. Even my sister, who didn’t take the game seriously has actually had a hole-in-one. So you can imagine, the excitement to finally get the proverbial monkey off my back.

It happened at my home course in Florida, which I’m a member at. Which is Deer Creek Golf Club in Deerfield, Florida on hole #8 par 3. Playing 156 yards into the wind that day and I had a 7 iron. At this point in my career, I probably would’ve taken a lucky bounce or a skulled duff. But to my amazement, it actually was an absolute gorgeous shot. I was playing with my good buddy Jerry Marcus who actually lives in New Jersey. As well as two other members of deer Creek, a gentleman named Joe, also from New Jersey, and Ron from parkland down here in Florida. Hope you will share my story with other golf enthusiasts. To never give up Faith in this wonderful game as everybody will eventually get an outstanding moment to cherish if they just keep at it.

It was a beautiful Spring morning in Victoria at the superb Cordova Bay Golf Course. My playing partners were Lorraine Cooper – Morton, Mike Morton and Barry Greenwood. The magical moment happened on hole #6 which has an elevated green. If I remember, it was 136 yards, slope adjusted. I hit a 6 iron, saw it roll to the pin and disappeared. I thought it had rolled in, as did my playing companions but because it’s an elevated green, we weren’t 100% sure till we walked up and confirmed the ball (a Red Srixon) was indeed in the cup. The Marshall, Brad Johnston happened to be at the green and saw what happened. That’s when we really celebrated! Brad of course immediately spread the word around and I got several congratulatory messages from all the wonderful staff at the club and other members who know me. Pretty memorable day especially since it was my very first ace and was very happy to share it with my friends.

Hey Golf Canada! The hole-in-one was actually on Saturday the 20th! It was awesome, was 162 yards to the flag. There was an 82km/h wind gust that day so I hit a flighted 8 iron right at it, it landed about five yards short and rolled in like a putt. I was playing with two of my good buddies Troy and Christian. The group in front of us was my brother and his buddies and they heard our reaction to it dropping! It was my third hole-in-one but the feeling still doesn’t go away.

I was down in Florida for an annual golf trip with the boys. Eight of us go down to play and get the rust off before the golfing season gets into full gear in Ontario. That day I was playing with John, Kenny and Darryl. The yardage was 149 yards and I hit a perfect 9 iron right at the flag. From the tee, we couldn’t tell where the ball ended up, however we knew it was close. When getting up to the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen. We’ve all had that anticipation before, could it be in the hole? I ran up to check the cup and screamed when I saw my ball in the bottom.

I was playing with my usual Wednesday night foursome at Gallaghers Pinnacle, Tom, Brian and Roger (sub for Frank partying in Vegas haha). We’ve been playing regular Wednesday nights here since the course opened in 1996. It’s a nine hole course so I register back nine scores to reflect blue tee distance. It was playing about 105 yards and I hit a 54° wedge. It was my second hole-in-one at the Pinnacle (fourth career), both Tom and Brian have been with me for three of the four. The last two (2016 and 2020) were to elevated greens so we didn’t get to see them drop, it was nice to watch this one roll in.

My son Wesley and I are proud members of our amazing club “The Oaks Golf & Country Club” in Delaware, Ontario. This season my son and I said, “This year one of us will get a hole-in-one on hole #15 our signature par 3 island hole.” On Monday, April 23, a beautifully lit evening, the camera rolled, and it happened! We were stunned, screaming, laughing, and celebrating when we fell to the ground, and I may have broken my thumb! We go back for more x-rays on Monday. We got it all on video, hole #15, par 3, 123 yards. We got you hole #15! The crazy thing is this is my sixth hole-in-one and fifth at The Oaks but the best one ever because it was with my son and our first together! So blessed! #memoryforlife

I was playing with fellow golfer and friend Mark Warren. I was visiting him in Vancouver for a week of golf (our golfing season in Yellowknife won’t start for another week or two). In fact, we weren’t even supposed to play that day because of rain. We decided at the last minute to take a chance on what looked like a changing forecast and play the round later in the day. The front nine wasn’t great. It was still wet and cold. At the turn we had a ‘Happy Gilmore’ toast and, surprise, the sun came out!

Anyway, the shot came on hole #14. The yardage was 165; I used a 7 iron. It was into the sun/sea so we lost the ball in the air. I actually thought I was short and hit rocks/lost the ball, so I hit a provisional. The provisional was short and right. I chipped it close, then went over to look for what I thought was my lost first ball. Mark putted his eight footer out for a birdie then went to retrieve his ball from the hole when he made the discovery!

We celebrated a bit and finished the round. I went into the pro shop and talked with staff there about it. They said it was pretty cool that I made a hole-in-one on that particular hole as it’s one of the signature holes for the golf course. They also offered to send me some sort of a certificate, outlining the achievement with all the details, etc. I have yet to receive it, but I’m looking forward to getting it. I’ve also kept the ball and the card in the hopes of having something framed to commemorate the once in a lifetime event.

I’ve been playing golf my whole life and this is the first time I’ve ever managed a hole-in-one! I’ve come close, but never actually made it. I guess doing so on this course, on their signature hole, makes it even more special!
