Kim Ta, Fraserview Golf Course, Hole #16

Perfect shot with great trajectory. Landed nicely in the of the green, bounced forward and tracked perfectly for the pin!

Ryan Lawrence, Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

My first hole-in-one occurred on a beautiful evening on Monday, September 23rd at Tower Ranch Golf Club in Kelowna, B.C., on the signature 14th hole, par 3, playing 203 yards adjusted. The blue tees were paired with the tips that day and the flag was at the middle-back of the green. I used a 5 iron and hit a high-draw and it landed pin high on the green about 13 feet left of the hole and steadily rolled in for the ace. The feeling was pure bliss. My playing partners were Nathan Draper, Kendall Draper and James Behnke.

“I was in the group in front of him and just to let you know how difficult that shot was. Very strong wind into the face and a huge drop in elevation. Just to be on the green was an amazing shot.” – Facebook Comment from Ryan’s post for Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club

André Couet, Club de Golf Algonquin, Hole #2

Wow, this was my first-ever hole in one! It happened on a regular Tuesday skins day at our club while I was playing with my usual partners, Luc Laframboise, Steve Proulx and Dave Beresford.

We were on the second hole, a straight forward par 3 that measures 129 yards with a blue pin placement. The green is small and pretty narrow, and I very often pull the ball left into the sand. Interestingly, I witnessed my partner Steve make a hole-in-one on this same hole last year (on a red pin), and I do believe I was more excited than he was when it happened. Having done it myself, I completely understand his reaction.

Now for some reason on that day, I approached the hole differently. Instead of hitting a full wedge, I choked up on a 9 iron and aimed straight at the pin. I struck the ball well, and we all watched as it flew directly toward the pin, bounced once, and rolled so gently into the hole. I couldn’t believe my eyes, and my heart skipped a few beats before I was able to catch my breath! My partners were jumping for joy, and to my surprise, the previous owner of the club, who lives right by the hole, ran out in his robe, cheering and celebrating as he had witnessed this as well from his kitchen table overlooking this hole.

It was an unforgettable moment, and yes, I won a skin on that hole!

Arden Kidd, Musqueam Golf Course, Hole #17

It was a first for me after taking up the sport on retirement 22 years ago. Our club captain, Diane McNeely kindly put together a collage of the event.

On the day, it was quite a surprise to watch that yellow ball disappear over the rise in front of the 17th green, then reappear and roll right up the green and into the cup! From the blue tees it was about 135 yards and I used my trusty driver, a TaylorMade Burner.

I took up golf later in life after giving up skiing and later tennis and I find golf much easier on the body. For the first few years I took lessons and enjoyed learning about club choice and the satisfaction of achieving some success.

What I love about the game is being outdoors on the fairways with the good company of my ladies club members, and of course enjoying occasional success. I also enjoy being greeted by the friendly staff and volunteers of our club. I’d certainly recommend the game to anyone, to join a club and to get involved in its activities remains something to look forward to for many years. Though my scores reach new highs these days, I hope to keep golfing as long as I’m able.

Peter Bartus, St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two of my good friends John Vander Hoeven and Eric Woodland on a beautiful afternoon when I got my hole-in-one. The fourth hole at St. Catharines Golf and Country Club was playing 196 yards from the back tees that day. I hit a great 6 iron off the tee and watched it land on the green. Thinking I’d have a putt for birdie I picked up my tee and put my club away. My friends were saying they couldn’t see the ball and thought it went in. I wasn’t as optimistic but sure enough when we got up to the green the ball was in the hole!

Howard Herman, Silver Creek Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I played a round with three young men (who each had a caddy, due to a lost bet). I had a fantastic round and a great day with the boys. Hole #8 on the North course is a par 3, playing 116 yards. I chose my pitching wedge and hit a clean shot at the flag. The ball landed about 14 inches from the hole and slowly rolled in. This hole is an elevated tee, over a pond, so I was able to see the ball drop. My first after nearly 60 years of playing.

Richard Grimes, The Oaks of St. George Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the fifth hole from 127 yards. Oddly, it was one year to the day since my last hole-in-one. Witnessed by Dan Demurak, Bob Hillstrom and Ian Lim.

I was competing in the Tri-County league which includes Guelph Country Club, Stratford Country Club, Elmira Golf Club and The Oaks of St. George. I am told that the league, which continues to be active today, remains the oldest regular interclub golf contest in the Western hemisphere and has previously include Westmount Golf & Country Club and The Galt Country Club.

Ben Hendsbee, Brightwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

Visiting the Halifax area on vacation, I played Brightwood Golf and Country Club for the first time on with my brother-in-law, Andy Arsenault, who is a member. We played with two other members, Bill McBurney and Noel. It’s a nice old Donald Ross course in Dartmouth N.S. On the 15th hole I hit a 9 iron from 145 yards that drew toward the flag. I thought it would be inside 10 feet. We saw it land, then disappear. Not having played there before, I thought it might have caught a hidden slope and drifted away. The other three guys, all members, were adamant it went in. Sure enough when we got to the green it was in the hole.

Steven Kodama, Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing on the first day of the two day Toronto-based Senior Japanese Men’s League tournament. My friends, Tony, Ron and John joined me. It was a perfect morning for golf; it was slightly cool with no wind. I used my Adams 8 iron for the 167 yard, par 3. After looking for my ball for a couple of minutes past the green, my playing partner Ron, discovered my ball in the cup to our surprise. This was my first hole-in-one in 45 years. I want to thank our club organizers, Bob, Harold, Tony and Dennis for their wonderful support and the staff and Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club for their hospitality.

Canaan Marche, Lake St. George, West Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

First hole-in-one! Playing the second hole at Lake St. George West, hit a gap wedge that rode the cross wind perfectly back in front of the pin, took one big bounce then trickled in the front of the cup. Got to watch the whole thing from the tee block with a good friend and our wives.

Marty Mercieca, Rivendell Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Used a 6 iron from roughly 140 yards on hole #12 in the wind. I was playing with my wonderful wife Joanne who started golfing together with me. This was my first hole-in-one, the hole was playing downhill and I aimed it to the right. It bounced off the fringe while rolling to the left and into the pin.

Sandy Byckowski, Brampton Golf Club Limited, Hole #3

It was a beautiful morning with some shadows on our third hole. When I hit the shot, I knew it was on line and hit into the rise at the front of the green, then I could not see it anymore. My playing partner Robin says it went in. He said it so casually I thought he was kidding. Then Maggie another partner said, “yes it went in.”

Tirath Bains, Hazlemere Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I participated in the SABA (South Asian Business Association) tournament at Hazlemere Golf Club, playing alongside fellow golfers Pyara Dadwal, Jag Hundal and Davinder Dhesi. During the round, on hole #13, a 184 yard, par 3, I hit a six iron that landed just short of the green and rolled perfectly into the hole for a hole-in-one. It was an unforgettable moment, made even more special by sharing it with such great company.

John Annear, Brudenell Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rick Sutherland and Bob Nicholson who are life long friends and my first cousins son Neil Rutherford. I was using a 6-iron from 180 yards. Incidentally this is my fourth hole-in-one and third in the last four years. I got one on August 16, 2021 on the iconic #17 at The Links at Crowbush Cove with a gap wedge from 97 yards and captured a great sunset picture of that one. On September 16, 2022 I aced hole #16 on Brudenell with the same 6 iron from 180 yards.

John Ryder, Wildfire Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Playing in the regular Friday men’s league at Wildfire Golf Club with Gary Carr and Larry Turnbull. A 146 yard shot with a 7 iron for my second hole-in-one, beating a friend’s closest to the hole great shot.

Brian Graziotto, Parry Sound Golf & Country Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Barry Briggs and Jim Sims, part of the local men’s league. The yardage was 124. The club used was a 7 iron.

Elliana Buhagiar, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley , Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second ever ace and my first in competition and first in a professional event as an amateur. Plus, it was cool to do it in a national championship. It was the second round at the ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at TPC Toronto Heathlands course. It was hole #8 and the flag was 128 yards towards the middle of the green. Wind was helping a little and I hit my pitching wedge two yards past and spun it back into the cup.

Devin Leblanc, Clare Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

There was my self, Paul Foote and Richard Wright. We were standing on the hole #17 tee box just after talking about some hole in we seen and us not having any. Well in that moment my world changed I used my pitching wedge, once it landed about ten feet passed the hole it looked stopped, thinking to my self I have a nice chance for birdie. As I was thinking about this I noticed the ball rolling back towards the hole. I was thinking to my self, this is even closer and then all of a sudden it disappeared into the cup. I hollered and jumped for joy. Couldn’t believe it, that my first one would of been spinning the ball back least ten feet. Will be one to remember that’s for sure. Took me 31 years to get my first.

Jeff Enquist, Southwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with friends on Sunday as a guest at Southwood Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg. We were playing high low game and the loser two some had to buy lunch. It was a close match. On hole #8, a 130 yard, par 3 over water, I hit a 9 iron straight at the flag. It landed on the green, bounced twice, hit the flagstick, and then disappeared. The group thought it went in. They wanted me to be the first to walk to the cup and check. There it was, in the hole! My first hole-in-one. So exciting. The match didn’t matter after that as I was buying anyway!

Brad Hewitt, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

With gusting winds Brad Hewitt, guest of brother Steve Hewitt, holed a perfect 8 iron on hole #12 at Whitevale Golf Club. Playing partners Darryl Brown and John Fleming.

Tony Marshall, Sunstone Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Sadly, I was playing alone. It was 154 yards and I hit a 7 iron. It bounced high on the apron at the front of the green, (front pin about 15 or 20 feet in) and disappeared. I wasn’t excited as I thought it went long but when I got up there, it was in the hole! I lost a Pro V1 on hole #16 so I was playing a Nitro and it was the Nitro in the hole. I was buzzing for days, still seems surreal. I started playing in my 40’s about 20 years ago. I’ve had many close calls (edge of the cup a few times), but this is the only one that dropped. Golf is great!

Peyton Lee, Lindsay Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

I was playing with my dad. The yardage was 180 playing into a two club wind. I hit a 5-iron with a slight cut, took one bounce off the slope of the hill and disappeared. I knew there was a ridge there so I didn’t want to get too excited too soon, but when I drove up to the green and didn’t see the ball I had a pretty good idea that it went in.

Robert Piccionit, Mount Bruno Country Club, Hole #10

Geoff Garbarino and Jon Chaimburg were my playing partners that day. We made the turn and headed for our par 3, hole #10. It was playing approximately 148 yards and pin was front left which is on a green that flushes everything right. I had mentioned that the pin placement that day was the hardest. I dropped the ball in the box, no tee and compressed a 9 iron. Ball left the club on an absolutely straight line and Jon Chaimbrug called the hole out as soon as it left the club. I thought it was long but the ball landed six inches left of the cup, took one bounce right and in it went side door.

Matt Prosser, Avon Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friend Brett MacNeil. Yardage was 125 and the club was a 50 degree Titliest SM7 wedge.

Kent Cameron, Cottonwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing Cottonwood Golf & Country Club in Calgary with a couple friends from work. It was on an afternoon round, on hole #2, playing 145 yards, back centre pin. I hit a nine iron with a baby cut. The ball landed just short of the hole but released and rolled in! It was a pretty awesome day!

Trish Leach, The Falls Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was so excited because it was my very first hole-in-one. Never thought I would ever get one and then it finally happened! The fun part was the course was a bit backed up so there was a group of four men watching me tee off, along with my partner in life Gord. They let out a huge roar when it went in.

It was about 110 yards from an elevated tee box and I used my trusty, lofty little 9 wood. The ball landed on the green a few feet in front of the hole, and bounced once straight into the cup.

Yay 62 year old me!

Colin McLelland, Glencairn Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one came on hole #7 at Glencairn Leithfield during our club championship. The yardage was 155 into a breeze. Hit a nice 6 iron with draw into a back pin location and we saw the ball go in the hole. I went on to shoot a nice 77 that day. Played with fellow competitors David Clarke and Brad Gleeson. This is my fourth hole-in-one and second on this hole at Glencairn.

Robert Harrison, Peel Village Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #2 of Peel Village Golf Club in Brampton. The second hole is an uphill par 3. The yardage on the score card was 115. On that day it was playing a little shorter at 109 yards. I was playing with Ian Sarjeant, Brian Sim and Alan Coates. A beautiful day with this being the highlight!

Jennifer Hicks, Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

This was such a thrill for me. I have been close to having a hole-in-one so many times having birdies, eagles and even an albatross on a par 5 but never and ace. My life partner and a fellow golfer were witnesses to this incredible event. It was on the first hole, what a way to start a round! I used an 8 iron for the 128 yard shot. It was a surreal experience.

Barry Porter, Lakeside Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an exciting time at Lakeside as I happened to make a hole-in-one on the same hole, same tournament, same yardage, same blue flag as the previous year. I’m hoping for the natural hat trick next year when I go for three in a row! It was a bit expensive buying refreshments both years as there were quite a few members playing in the Memorial tournament, thank goodness for hole-in-one insurance!

Patricia Kenny, Predator Ridge, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Linda Deluca and Lorraine Dollevoet. The shot was on hole #15 on the Ridge course at Predator Ridge and the yardage was approximately 109. I used a seven iron.

Nitin Badhwar, Sleepy Hollow Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #8 was about 145 yards to a red flag yesterday so I grabbed my 7 iron (I am old now so need extra club). My focus was on not going left as that is what I have been doing a lot lately. Plan was to have it land on the right side and roll down to the hole. To my shock, I nailed a beauty right at the pin. Hit it well, saw a bounce in front of the green and then the four of us just watched the ball track toward the hole. James looked at me after we lost sight of it and I could tell he thought it was in. Carlo was standing on the wheel of his cart trying to get a better look and said, “dude, I think that’s in.” Chris was sure of it too but we all know that hole #8 often tricks you and you find the ball sitting ten feet past the hole when you finally get there.

I tried to stay grounded as we walked up to the green. My heart sank when Carlo got to the hole first and then walked away. By the time I got to the green, I expected to see it on the green but couldn’t see it anywhere. I asked the guys and Carlo just casually said to check the hole and there was yellow Kirkland in the hole. And that is when we just erupted. High fives and hugs all around.

Second ace, and both on hole #8 at Sleepy Hollow Golf & Country Club. Great to do it on a League day and it was made extra special celebrating with the special community that we have at Sleepy Hollow. Definitely felt the love from everyone there, and in texts and e-mails that followed. Feeling on top of the world!

Alex Binkley, Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son-in-law Jonathan MacLeod of Bedford, N.S., his father Jack MacLeod of Little Harbour, N.S. and longtime golfing buddy John Moses of Toronto. Hole #12 at Muskoka Lakes is about a 160 yard drive from the gold tee. I hit with my driver. I rarely land on the green on this hole with my first shot so I was surprised to see the ball land there and roll towards the pin. When it disappeared, I was initially speechless but my three loudly cheering pals were shouting hole-in-one. When we reached the green, I walked over and there was the ball resting in the cup. In the end, I was even more surprised at how quickly news of the event spread among the other golfers and the staff at the club.

Kevin Trayling, Woodington Lakes, Hole #15

I did have my first ever hole-in-one this past weekend! It was my second round of the day, our first round was played at Glen Eagle, but the second round was played at Woodington Lakes where I got the hole-in-one on hole #16.

I was playing with my two friends, Adam and Jim. The yardage was 145 (playing like 160) and I used an 8 iron. It was a moment I will never forget!

At first I was like where did my ball go? Then I thought to myself, “Oh man I think I hit an ace!” I ran and got my phone in the golf cart and video taped the moment going to the pin and my ball.

The group that just completed the hole were on the next hole close by and they saw the ace and they too were amazed.

Steve Smith, Tarandowah Golfers Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was playing at 145 yards that day (according to Garmin). I used my 7 iron. I was playing with Bryan Gast, Barry Kennedy and Doug Campbell with Ron McLeod also witnessing. This was first hole-in-one!

Jadyn Lit, Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Bill Lit who is also a Golf Canada member, along with Amar Paddam and Parb Rehal. The official yardage I got was 152 and I used a 9 iron (Ping i530) and Taylormade Project A ball.

Nancy Wynter, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the third and final round of our Senior Intersectional Qualifier event that also happened to coincide with our weekly women’s league.

It was a 91 yard shot and I used an 8 iron. It wasn’t pretty as I just barely got over the green side bunker and was so lucky that the rough slowed it up enough as it rolled on the green and went into the hole.

I was one of the earlier tee times so I took my time to come into the clubhouse to give the women a chance to partake in a hole-in-one drink. At our club, everyone will get a free drink for up to an hour after the person getting the hole-in-one enters the bar.

It sure helped that there was a thunderstorm in the area and they sounded the horn which forced everyone to come back to the clubhouse.

This is my third hole-in-one. All have been at GreyHawk. I’ve had a hole-in-one on hole’s #7 and #17 on Talon and hole #11 on Predator.

I was golfing with Sylvie Goulard and Elaine Willcock that day.

Bruce Liski, Murray Municipal, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing golf with Hal Wilkie, Joe Bladyko and Shawn Koroluk.

The fourth hole at the Murray Golf Course that day was playing 187 yards. I used a 4 hybrid.

It took 51 years of playing golf to finally get a hole-in-one!

Starting playing golf as a unattached junior at one of the local country clubs at age 13. I am now 64 years old and the wait is officially over.

Shawn Woolls, Forest Heights Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It’s been a good year of golf for me so far. Put in some solid work over the winter and it seems to be paying off. The women in my wife’s family have had the upper hand over the men in the hole-in-one department.

Wife has one, mother-in-law has one and sister-in-law has two! Two years ago my brother-in-law ended the drought with two of his own. I’ve been close a few times in the past. Inches away a few times and once I damaged the hole by hitting pin and cup at same time.

This year I was close twice. Just missing by inches, until I got to hole #5 at Forest Heights Golf Course in Sundre, Alta. The hole was 164 yards, back pin. I used my Titleist 8 iron and Pro-V1x combo. Hit a nice tight fade, landed about 10 feet from the pin, rolled up and disappeared! We weren’t sure until we got up to the green. The guys at the next tee box seen it and waited for us as they figured we didn’t know it went in because we weren’t hollering and cheering. Sent them four beers when the cart came by!

Now the monkey is off my back and the women have been in a drought for a couple years now, although I suspect they won’t let that last long!

Kristin Lewis, Ponoka Community Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my hole-in-one on hole #15 at the Ponoka Community Golf Course on the last round of an eleven day golf trip with my husband (Gary Sandberg), my dad (Dale Lewis) and my dad’s significant other (Susan Johnston). This is our third annual golf trip, how lucky am I that I get to golf with both my dad and my husband! We often colour match our golf outfits (my dad started it), and we were all in our matching blue “hammer time” shirts for our last day, it’s lots of fun.

This trip, in particular, was a special one, as it was the start of my recovery and my return to golf as I tried to get my game back and just enjoyed every day loving life on the course. I received the all clear in May of this year after spending the last year in treatment (surgery, chemo and radiation) after being diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2023.

The hole-in-one is my first, and likely only! I’ve been golfing pretty regularly for over 30 years! When I stepped up to the 102 yard hole from the forward tee boxes, I certainly didn’t have any big expectations, to the point where when I hit the ball with my pitching wedge, I was very excited just to see it clear the front sand trap (it wasn’t my best shot). And then it bounced and started rolling toward the pin and disappeared! I didn’t really believe it. I looked over to my husband and he nodded and threw his arms up, and then I lost my mind! I started cheering and screaming, threw my club down, ran a lap around the tee box like I’d just won the World Series and proceeded to give hugs all around! Everyone within a three hole radius had a pretty good idea what happened.

Some of my friends and family have speculated that this is my consolation prize for the last year of what I’ve been through. I’ll take it! So many reasons to keep smiling!

Claire Chanyi, Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The day I got my hole-in-one I was playing with my two friends, it was our second round of the day. The yardage was 108 and I used my 54 degree wedge.

Kate Pascal, Greystone Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

That day was absolutely amazing! I am still processing what happened. I was in a disbelief at first, then shock and finally, a crazy state of happiness. Getting the hole-in-one is such an incredible feeling! From the red tees and I’m not sure what the exact distance was but for me to use 6 hybrid must’ve been 112-115 yards. Kirkland ball used. I was playing with my boss Craig H., Jeremy R. and Steve B. It was our team golf day.

Lindsey Hermer-Bell, Georgian Bay Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friends Sue and John Chippendale. Approaching hole #3, I selected a 7 wood to hit the ball 138 yards into the wind. I walked up to the hole and just hit the ball. It bounced about two times in front of the hole and disappeared. I thought it may have gone past the hole but we didn’t see the ball. It was in direct line to the hole so my playing friends were convinced it dropped in the hole. Sure enough, there it was. I guess I was in a state of shock! It was my first!

Norm Piche, Osprey Links Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

The funny thing is that I detest this hole because for years golfing this hole I have a terrible time hitting the green from my tee shot. While I had a pretty good front nine, I had struggled on holes #12, #13, and had a triple bogey on #14. I was walking up the hill to the 15th tee and told my buddy, Darryl, that we should have quit playing after nine holes. Anyways, as we prepared to tee off on #15, my nemesis hole, I finally hit a shot that was actually going to stay on the green. Little did I know it would fall two inches past the hole and back spin into the hole. I was in disbelief at first then realized what had happened.

Eric Hatton, Lowville Golf Club, Hole #13

I was playing with Curtis Hatton (brother) and my friends Kevin Blanchetee and Chris Miles. Hole #13 at Lowville Golf Club. 129 yards, used a 54 degree wedge and a Taylormade TP5 Ball. It was a blind tee shot so when we didn’t see it on the green by friend Kevin decided to record a video checking the hole. Sure enough it was there in the hole and excitement ensued. This was my third hole-in-one.

John Vincent, Pinewa Golf Club, Hole #13

Playing with Steve Daviduik. 192 yards. Used a Callaway Rogue 4 Hybrid and a Taylormade TP5X Golf ball.

Tyler Reil, Twin Willows Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

That day, hole #7 was 174 yards to the pin. I used my 7 iron and landed approximately five yards short, it rolled up and dropped in.

It’s an interesting story on what lead up to this day. My grandfather was a golf pro and owned a golf shop here in Edmonton. As a kid, I golfed quite a bit, but totally stopped at 14 years old. Four years ago I thought I should get back at it and have been getting in 50 – 70 rounds per year since then.

This March, my wife and I were in a serious head on collision at highway speed which put an end to all sporting activities, as we focused on physiotherapy and recovery. July 13th, we receive a call that one of our golf partners (Dale) had a heart attack and sadly passed away on the course. The following day I golfed the first round of the year in his spot, with the foursome that had been together for 20 years, a group that I had spared with for three years.

The next weekend, I played my second round of the year, and the following weekend was when I was lucky enough to get my first hole-in-one. That day I was golfing with my friends Marcel, Doug and Billy, but I’m sure there was a fifth riding along with us.

Becki Ross, Cedar Hill Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Marsha Mallow, Angela Lucia, Erin Duhaime Yuen and Becki Ross were playing the July – Cloud Series four game (stableford). On hole #4 at the Cedar Hill Golf Course in Victoria, B.C., Becki Ross had a hole-in-one. She hit her M2 Senior Men’s Taylormade 9-iron the distance of 121 yards, and with two bounces, her Titleist Pro V1 golf ball was in the cup! This was the first hole-in-one for Becki. She has been golfing for 54 years and thought she was never going to get a hole-in-one. As we all watched it go in, there was much cheering, screaming and excitement for all, especially for Becki.

Ryan Kahro, Cutten Fields, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in our weekly mens league. I usually only play nine on Thursdays, but this time, we decided to play 18. We had just finished playing through a group on hole #16 so I hurried to the tee with an 8 iron. I then realized it was too much club as it was playing 148 yards. So I hit a knock down. It was just a bit right of the flag but landed softly and rolled down the hill and disappeared. I had my first ace on hole #17 at Cutten in 1999, but the hole has been completely remodelled, so it was kind of extra special to get one on the newer hole. Thanks to my long time playing partner Greg Hosker who witnessed the shot. Unfortunately, Tyler Campagnolo had left after hole 14, but made sure to make it back to the patio to enjoy a cocktail!

Steve Siriska, Calerin Golf Club, Hole #11

It was my first one and yes, what a feeling. I was playing with James Aston, Dean Morgan and Andy McClure who are all Golf North members as well. Yardage was 145. Used my trusted 7 iron.

Jacey Kennedy, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #8

My hole-in-one was on Predator #8 at my home club of GreyHawk. The best part, it all went down during our Ladies League, with my golf besties Shari Cooper, Diane Roscoe and Christine Sabourin right there to witness it! The sound of excited screams and cheering carried across the course, echoing through the nearby fairways and greens. The distance was 135 yards and I used my 5 iron, the very same club that brought me my first hole-in-one at Islesmere Golf Club.

Dwight Christensen, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing in the Greyhawk Hopwood League for senior golfers with the regular foursome of my wife, Nancy Christensen along with our friends Brian Veinot and Phyllis O’Brien. On hole #15 of Predator, which is nominally 197 yards as the pin was at the back of the green and according to my Garmin GPS was 204 yards from the tee. With some headwind, I decided to go with a choked-up driver rather than my usual three wood. I was able to hit the ball low against the wind such that it hit the front of the green with little bounce and then tracked straight to the pin. I did not see the ball drop and since I have never had a hole-in-one, I expected that the ball had just rolled through and over the back of the green. Upon reaching the green, I looked for a few minutes in the rough at the back of the green before I approached the hole and was quite shocked to see the ball nestled at the bottom of the hole with the pin.

Mike Appleyard, Mountain Woods Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #15 and the yardage was 115. We were playing in the Arrow Construction Products Dave Boyle Memorial Tournament to honour a friend. I used a pitching wedge and the ball landed 16 inches from the flagstick and rolled right in. I was playing with Adrian Thompson, Shawn Arsenault and Michael Mooney. The timing and the event couldn’t have been more special.

Jenna Brooks, Royal Woodbine Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was good fun and very surreal. I was playing with a few friends from my Tuesday night Iron Lady Golf League, Ainsley, Agnes and another woman who’s name was Julie that joined us that night. It was roughly a 120 yard, downhill par 3 and I used a 7 iron. The pin was forward, it bounced off the fringe and rolled in!

Ron Rhode, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first one for me on that hole, and given the length at 160 yards, I was happy to get it. I hit a 5-iron with a draw, starting it at the right bunker, and I think it landed short and rang into the hole (white pin in the center of the green).

This is the third one this year for me, and I’m hoping for more. I guess playing almost every day of the week does have some advantages.

Bruce Dussault, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Amazingly, I finally got my first hole-in-one on the 124 yard, hole #16. Gap wedge to the green and rolled in. Promptly lost the ball on the next hole!

Dylan Wotton, Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my Mother, Denise Snow and 2 other fellow club members. Thursday, August 29th,  I got a hole-in-one at Hartlen Point Forces Golf Course. It was hole #5, par 4, 291 yards and I used a 3 wood. I play the white tees. The hole has a blind hill you hit over that is straight out. My shot was struck well, high in the air and dead straight over the hill towards the green. I saw it land and bounce once on the other side of the hill, high and straight at the green knowing it was a safe shot. The group in front of us were on the green when I hit. After our foursome teed off, one of the gentleman that were on the green started driving back towards us. We all at that point thought my ball might have landed really close to them. The golfer driving towards us asked who hit over the hill? My group pointed to myself, the gentleman then got out of the golf cart and I was starting to apologize for the shot as I thought it may have hit one or was to close for comfort but he cut me off saying, “congratulations, your ball is in the hole!” We could not believe it. I heard from the three witnesses that they were getting ready to putt when a ball bounced and rolled up to the green and proceeded to drop in the hole. They thought to themselves who is putting before us. As we approached the green the other men congratulated myself and signed the score card as witnesses because i would never have seen it go in from the tee box.

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Vicki Dillane, Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

I was playing with my husband, my son and his girlfriend. My grandparents, my parents and brother have all had hole-in-one’s. We are an avid golf family.

There was a paint turtle sitting on the fringe of hole #7 that day. It was my lucky turtle. Hole #7 at Twenty Valley is a par 3 about 122 yards and I used my TaylorMade 7 iron.

Dylan Ofner, The Okanagan Golf Club, Hole #11

I was playing with my brother, my dad, and my uncle on a beautiful and scorching hot day in the Okanagan during the +30 degrees Celsius heat wave. The yardage was 163, playing about 155 down the hill. I wanted to lead them off as the second I saw the number, I knew for sure it was going to be a 9 iron.

I played a sling draw that landed about three to four feet to the left of the pin, had some great check spin that propelled it to the right and drained it! Had another group on hole #18 across from us that saw it and the group in front of us raced back from the next tee box to confirm it in the hole. The hype was real, causing everyone else in my playing group to end up missing the green, but they were happy for me. I ended up having a great remainder of the round until a double then triple bogey on hole #16 and #17, but managed to par hole #18 and finish with a 78.

Evan Brown, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 172 yard, par 3, 7 iron to back right pin. The special moment was I was playing with my 12 year old son. It’s my second hole-in-one, the first was 28 years ago!

Jim Laursen, Ardmore Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Pat Davies, Nick Wishlaw and Bill Schuss on our regular dime and quarter match on a Friday. We usually play what we call “short 17” so that we can shoot for “closest to the pin” on the 90 yard hole. One of the boys had put his shot quite close and was crowing about his likely, “big cash win.” I was last to tee off, grabbed a wedge and told them not to count me out just yet. I was the most surprised when my shot took two hops and rolled into the hole. I then pocketed the, “closest to the pin” money but put it towards a cool one for my partners back at the clubhouse.

Wade Jones, Otter Creek Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I have been playing for about 50 years now and although I have had a number of near misses this is only my second hole-in-one. We had three groups of guys and great weather for our trip to Otter Creek that day. For equipment it was a TaylorMade day as I was playing my SIM2 irons and using a TaylorMade and a Tour Response golf ball. On hole #12, I hit my 6 iron to the pin which was 170 yards on the scope and back left of the green. Unfortunately, as this green is elevated and sloped front to back, we did not get to see it roll into the hole. I knew that I hit a great looking shot but as our group (Steve Killaire, Murray Ball and myself) got onto the green we could see the other balls but not mine until I kidded that it must be in the hole. I took a look and sure enough there it was. It was a great feeling and well worth the bar tab afterwards.

Bill Eggert, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

Pretty amazing for a 34 something handicap! It was hole #15 (in the bowl). 84 yards and I used an approach iron. Hit the green 10 feet in front and rolled right in. I was golfing with Hap May, Ron Fontaine and a friend of theirs whose name I can’t remember. I golf with them once or twice a year when they come up for their holiday. They were long time customers of mine when I owned the winery next door to the golf course, and we have remained friends.

A much better accomplishment in my books was breaking 100 last Saturday at Nk’mip.

Rob Armitage, Essex Golf & Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was out on the course with Jeff Miller, Maggie Miller and my wonderful wife, Deb Armitage. Interestingly, the day before, Jeff had come incredibly close to a hole-in-one on the same hole. We were still chuckling about that when I stepped up to take my shot. Playing 163 yards with a helpful wind, I hit an eight iron that sailed perfectly toward the flag. Based on the divot, it landed just six inches in front of the pin and then rolled in. It was an unforgettable moment and a memory I’ll cherish forever.

Telesa Brown, Heritage Pointe Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #5 on the Heritage nine. I was golfing with my husband. The hole was 85 yards and I used my pitching wedge.

Paul Callanan, Brampton Golf Club Limited, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 8 iron, because the wind was coming toward us and because the greens were a little soft due to the rain and aeration about a week before. I was playing with Bob Bates, Frank Dykstra and Gordon Drakes in a weekly tournament of about 40 guys at Brampton Golf Club that we call “Friboyz.”

Ron Spence, Black Mountain Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The weather was a perfect Okanagan morning, sunny, clear, calm and +24 degrees celsius. I was playing with my buddies Roy Millar, Shawn Flett and Carl Lawrence. Hole #4 is a 155 yard elevated tee about 150 feet above the hole. The pin was at the back of the green past a ridge. I had the honors and Roy said, “if we land on the right side at the top of the ridge the ball should roll right into the cup.” Roy has a rangefinder and with slope correction the distance was 144 yards.

I teed up a Titleist one ball and with my 35 year old Ping Persimmon 5 wood, (I also have driver, 3, and 7 Persimmons), hit a high easy shot that hit the top of the ridge, bounced once and rolled about 35 feet into the hole, amazing feeling. It’s my first hole-in-one in 60 years of golfing. I have hit the pin at the Brandon Golf and Country Club with a brand new Mercury Cougar as a prize. Another time I rolled right around the hole at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf course with a price of a trip for four to St. Andrews Golf Club in Scotland. My only other near hole-in-one was leaving the ball on the lip at Kelowna Springs Golf course with a $20,000 cash prize. This day was not during a tournament but I will treasure the moment for life and the folks at Black Mountain Golf Course were great.

Roger Gramlich, Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Hole #13

I was with my son, Nathan Gramlich, Adam Schwartz and Greg Rohrlack. The hole was on Predator Course at Predator Ridge, B.C. and it was 105 yards on the white tees. I used my TaylorMade gap wedge and a Titleist ProV1X ball numbered “00”.

I hit a shot about 108 yards flying over top of the pin and hitting a slight down slope and my ball rolled back down into the cup for the most amazing golf shot memory of my life.

Mark Tuck, Greystone Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #14, uphill, 156 yards and hit an 8 iron. Was playing with my son Dylan Tuck and a member from Blue Springs (ClubLink Member). That is my seventh hole-in-one. I had three left handed before changing to playing right handed and have now had four right handed.

D’Arcy Lachance, Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

Finally, I did it! On Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Elmhurst Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg, Man. on hole #4, playing 164 yards from the white tees. I struck a 6 iron and away it went. I did not see the ball go in but I did see the ball mark on the green. My group beat me to the hole and low and behold there was a big cheer. The shot was in the hole. I was playing with my regular group my wife Kim Smith, Judy Robertson and Judie Roberts.

Nicholas Lake, Sawmill Golf Course, Hole #14

Yardage was 128. Club was a 9 iron and golfed with Uncle Dom.

Connor Mathers, Sarnia Golf & Curling Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a long time coming! I’ve been playing golf since the age of four, had many close calls but this was the first time the ball actually disappeared.

It was on hole #12, at my home club. I was playing with a close friend of mine and before the tee shot I teased him saying, “I think this one is going to go in.” I was playing the back tees, it was 127 yards to a front pin. This green slopes from back to front, so I knew I wanted to land it well past the hole to try and spin it back.

I hit my 52° wedge, landed it about eight paces behind the flag and we were yelling at the ball to get in as soon as we saw it start to spin back toward the hole. It felt like it took five minutes to finally reach the cup, but it finally disappeared which led to a lot of jumping around and celebrating.

It was very special to get my first hole-in-one. Friends and family came to join in on the celebrations after the round. It will be a shot I never forget.

Greg Keith, Barrhead Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

From the white tees playing 127 yards to a front pin location. I used my 48 degree wedge. The ball landed just past the pin and spun back for my second ever hole-in-one. Funny enough the first one was last year on the exact same hole with a very similar pin placement. I was playing that round with my good friend Trent Kondo.

Rob Bryant, Guelph Lakes Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second hole-in-one, but the more special one of the two as it happened on my favorite course on the least likely hole I’d expect to get one. I was with my good friend Ben Williams, on hole #10 that was playing 157 yards from an elevated tee. I pulled a seven iron and lined up to the right center of the green. I knew if I took a line straight over the bunker and land it a yard or two on the green the ball will check, catch the slope and feed towards the hole. I hit the shot exactly where I wanted to. It did exactly what I expected it to do. Hit the green, checked, caught the slope and rolled towards the hole and with perfect speed. Then it was like I was watching the rest in slow motion. It was in perfect line with the pin. Hit the pin dead center and dropped. That made for a very special round of golf with a great friend. I will remember it always.

Dave Hong, Cordova Bay Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 5-iron baby cut shot on hole #13, a par 3 at Cordova Bay Golf Club that was measuring 173 yards from the blue tees. This hole plays half a club uphill so I had it pegged at a 180 yard shot. I could see the ball tracking towards the flag and then it disappeared. You are never quite sure if it is in but one of my playing partners, Deb Buckley, was at the forward tees and could clearly see the ball going in the hole. I walked up to the hole, and there it was!

My playing partners were Rich Choo, Yves Piette (both in the photo with me), and Deb Buckley who took the photo.

It was my second career hole-in-one and the first one came over 30 years ago. After the hole in one, I felt pressure to complete the round with a decent score. Sure enough I did, and I shot my index with a 74.

Howard Kotzer, Richmond Hill Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I play in a mens league at Richmond Hill Golf Club in Ontario on Mondays. Two of our regular foursome were not there. They paired Rob and I with two younger guys Eric and Mike who are not in the league. I say younger, I’m 68 and they were early 30’s. I used my Big Bertha 7 iron. The hole is a par 3 and was 154 yards away. I shot first. I knew it was a good shot and was going to be on the green which I would be happy with. I have good eyes. I could see the flag but not the hole. One of the younger guys Eric says, “I think it’s a hole-in-one.” Mike says, “it’s definitely a hole-in-one.” I was watching the ball roll and then it just disappeared. I got very excited and my heart started beating a little harder to say the least but I didn’t want to get too excited just in case. As I was walking to the green I didn’t see my ball close on the flag and now my heart started pounding with anticipation. I went over to the cup and looked down to see my ball in the hole. A hole-in-one! A dream come true after 17 years of playing golf. I was so thrilled, I couldn’t believe it. None of the other guys had ever seen a hole in one other than on TV. Neither had I and now I had seen one and it was my shot. Happiest golf game of my life! It was also the closest to the pin hole to boot. One thing off my bucket list.

Sarah Huber, Shaganappi Point Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my sister-in-law after two other Shaganappi Ladies League members had to drop from our tee time. I wasn’t playing particularly well, but it was a good swing with my 8 iron from the white 106 yard tees on hole #16. It looked like it went in, but wasn’t until we checked the cup that we celebrated. Very excited!

Ryan Ekdahl, Riverside Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friends Noah Degelman and Cole Young, also Riverside members. Yardage was 154 and I hit a pitching wedge.

Travis Tubb, Prince Rupert Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

Was men’s day at our local golf club. A new two man team format was being used that day. My partner was Terrance Bateman, a seasoned golfer with sick skills. We played with fellow friends and avid golf enthusiast Johnathan Hunt and Mel Young (which were partners that day as well). We were on hole #2, a 140 yard, par 3. I was the third to tee off and after seeing two of the other gentlemen nail the dance floor, I was just hoping to land as well on the green. Mind you this is my first year giving the game my full attention and devotion. Can honestly say I’ve played more rounds this season than my entire life prior! So with my 8 iron in grip and mind trying to stay focused to hit the green I made my swing. Looking up the line looked good, which it has many times before but then land considerably short in a little valley before the green. Next thing we see is the ball touching down in front with a hop and another little hop and ran right into the cup! Elation and pandemonium ensues on the box! What a rush!

Brenda Cook, Bluenose Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I am 73 years of age. I had never played any organized sports until my husband Philip convinced me to try to take up golf. This was about three years ago. I have been learning to play golf since then with a group of four to six ladies who took me under their wings. We usually golf nine holes, three times each week. It has been enjoyable but frustrating at times, with a very challenging learning curve. Our group is more social then serious. We always have a lot of laughs when we take to the fairways.

I only started to keep a scorecard and register my scores on the Golf Canada website about two weeks before my hole-in-one. This was only after the girls and Philip urged me to do so.

On the big day August 14, 2024, I started with a bogey on hole #1 and then a triple bogey on hole #2. I was just about ready to call it quits, but one of the girls Suzanne Mader said, “forget that hole, there is another one just around the bend.” I pulled myself together and things worked out better on hole #3 and #4.

Then came my favourite hole, hole #5, a par 3 hole, I always try to get on the green and par it, many times I do par this hole. This hole is 126 yards from the forward tees. You hit across a valley onto the green on the opposite hill. I have always had success using my driver on this hole. On this day I hit the ball with a lot of loft and it landed on the green two to three feet straight out from the hole and rolled forward straight into the cup. The girls screamed out, “Brenda you have a hole-in-one!” I was astonished and in disbelief that I could be so lucky! Rumour has it around here that it has been about two decades since a female has had a hole-in-one at Bluenose Golf Club! Unbelievable that I could be so fortunate. The ladies in our foursome on that memorable morning were Jean Jackson, Lola Greek and Suzanne Mader. I don’t think any of us will ever forget that day.

Here’s me with my first hole-in-one after 30+ years of golfing. Hole #6 from 148 yards. Used a 7 iron and shot from the blue tee box. Took once bounce and went in. Played with two other members who were decidedly more excited than me. I was just kinda shocked by it.

Bruce Fairles, RiverBend Golf Community, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage on #12 at RiverBend was 105. I used a pitching wedge and played with my wife, Brenda.
This was my ninth career hole-in-one over the past 50-some years. Coincidentally, I had previously had an hole-in-one on the same hole on the first day we joined RiverBend in 2008.

Nathan Graff, Stratford Municipal Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two of my buddies named Spencer and Jack. Yardage was 136 and I used a pitching wedge. It was a pretty crazy round and it was my best nine hole score ever. I started -2 through 6 which was the lowest I had ever been at that point, then when I hit the hole-in-one I think I blacked out for the rest of the round. Two bogeys in a row to finish hurt a bit but I was still happy to shoot -2. What was crazy was that it happened the same day as my grandfathers funeral which was very special for me. I like to think he helped me out with that shot.

Joyce Lingg, Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

My second hole-in-one was equally special on August 11, 2024 at noon. With my new Qi TaylorMade 9 iron, a 90 yard front pin location at Predator Course hole #13, my ball hit the slope behind the pin, and slowly rolled back in the hole. Of course there was a lot of encouragement, (AKA yelling) from the tee box by my number one supporter husband Grant Lingg, and our good friends Wendy Lim and Rick Dunn. What a special day!

Mike Maric, The Rise Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #16 at The Rise is a shorter par 3, but it’s a tough hole with forced carry over water and bunkers behind. The pin was near the back left of the green, which made it play about 160 yards with not a breath of wind to contend with. I have a draw on my irons, so it suited my ball flight. Just before I swung, I jokingly told my playing partners that I was going to hit a little draw with my 7 iron and put her tight. Lo and behold, after I hit the ball, it was tracking right at the pin in the air, landed about five feet short on a little upslope, bounced forward, danced around the pin and disappeared!

For the next few seconds it was all a fog. Our group was jumping around and high-fiving like fools, and even the group on the 15th green who had a great view were screaming. It was unreal.

I live close to the course, so I usually squeeze on as a single. Therefore, I had just met my playing partners that day. Unfortunately, I lost my scorecard at the end of the round, so I have already forgotten two of the fellas’ names. But, Greg, (a retired police officer) was with me in my cart and took the picture to commemorate the hole-in-one.

I played the course again three days later and was sharing my story with one of the young shuttle cart crew members that works at the course. He asked me when it was, and I told him roughly when I was on that hole. He said he was on the course that day, and he remembers hearing a bunch of screaming and yelling at about that time and was wondering what it was. Yeah, that was me.

Trent McClure, Duncan Meadows Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my father, Randy, and friend, Max Wellington. The hole was playing 130 yards. I used a 50 degree wedge.

Tom Van Landschoot, Beverly Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ever hole-in-one at 26 years old. I am a member at Beverly Golf and Country Club, I brought my three best friends out as guests on Saturday, August 10th for a nice day of golf. Earlier in the round the group behind us almost got a hole-in-one on our first par 3, hole #4, as we were on the tee box of hole #5. I jokingly told my friends if we can manage one today we get $450 worth of drinks at the clubhouse after.

We proceeded to play out hole #5 then #6 then get to hole #7 tee box, the next par 3 on the front nine. My three friends all tee off leaving me last to go, a group on the back nine are coming off of hole #11 (you have to cross over hole #7 to get to hole #12). As I get to the tees they are nearing me so I kindly offer them to cross before I hit my shot. They told me they will wait and I can shoot. I look over to my friends and say, “pressures on.” I line up my shot, swing and pray.

The flight was perfect, it was tracking the entire way, the ball lands about six feet right of the pin and spins left then disappears. I look over to my group in shock not saying a word. They all start screaming in joy. The group that was waiting raises their hands up. The group behind us now approaching hole #6 green also starts clapping as they have a perfect view of hole #7 green. I start running up to the green still in shock. I get to the pin and look down and there it is in the cup.

A dream come true. Something I will remember my entire life.

Hole #7, playing 177 yards from the black tees. I used my 7 iron. Kind of funny how it’s hole #7 with a 7 iron playing 177. I guess the lucky sevens are true!

Leslie Harbison, Creston Golf Club, Hole #6

I got my hole-in-one on August 11, 2024, hole #6 with an 83 yard shot using a soft pitching wedge at the Creston Golf Club. It hit the green and jumped hit the flagstick hard and dropped. It was a very fun experience and shared it with friends Yvonne Larsen who had a hole-in-one on that same hole. Also played with her husband Derrick and my husband Don. A very fun day.

Andrew von Teichman, Lora Bay Golf Club, Hole #12

It was hole #7 at Millwoods Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta. Par 3, 177 yards and I used a 4 iron. I was playing with a good friend of mine Ken and his son and cousin.

I was playing with my friends Conan McInnes and Chris Neitling. I believe the hole was playing 142 yards and I used a 9 iron. The pin was in the front right corner of the green and located slightly over the right side front bunker. After making contact with the ball I heard Conan say, “oh that’s going in!” My ball cleared the bunker and tracked right into the hole. We all started jumping and chest bumping. What a feeling and a great memory to have with my friends.

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Have you recently accomplished the feat of a hole-in-one? Tell us about it! Share your story, picture / video and course information with us at holeinone@golfcanada.ca.

Darren Neidig, The Vancouver Golf Club, Hole #7

On July 10th, I achieved the highest honour in golf. On hole #7 at The Vancouver Golf Club, I hit a 6 iron from 166 yards into the hole for my second career hole-in-one. My first hole-in-one was 30 years ago almost to the day. I’m 58 years old now and will continue to strive for my third.

Jordan Di Pietro, Vespra Hills Golf Club, Hole #17

Relatively short par 3, but a very small green. Middle pin, landed about ten feet short of the pin, took two bounces and rolled in! Hit my Titleist Vokey 54 degree wedge. Was playing with Ryan Blake and Trevor Craig.

Clem Pineau, Rideau Lakes Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

In 2014, I took up golf as a member of Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club. In 2017, I had achieved four hole-in-one’s in the span of eight months. At one of them, Brooke Henderson was practicing on our course and she heard the jubilation whereby she signed my scorecard and the golf ball. Brooke made my day even more special. In 2019, took a few years off golfing due other commitments and came back to golf as a full member in 2023.

Now in 2024 I scored my fifth hole-in-one. The shot was taken with a 4 iron on hole #8, keeping the ball low and away from the strong winds that day. This fairway is all downhill with a very obvious left to right green and plays as a 151 yard par 3. This was my second hole-in-one on hole #8.

Dan Hoger, Girouxsalem Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was the first to hit as I was with my wife and step-son. I hit what felt like a really solid shot and as soon as I hit it said to them, “oh that’s money,” to which my step-son replied, “like hole-in-one good?” Then, as we were watching the ball roll he says, “wait I think it might actually go in!” We watched the ball suddenly disappear. We were all kind of in shock and once we realized what happened we all got in our golf carts without them even hitting their tee shots and there the ball was right in the bottom of the hole! It was quite the feeling, one of both joy and disbelief at the same time!

Nancy Dezotell, Murray Municipal Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing in the Murray women’s regular Monday league that day. I used my driver. Scorecard says 134 yards, but it was a blue flag on a very windy day. Was my first hole-in-one.

Paul Rodgers, Purcell Golf, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife and my friend Mike who was visiting us in Kimberley. It was hole #3 of a three round golf weekend. I hit an eight iron from about 164 yards according to my golf watch. Right after I hit it, I jokingly quoted a video Mike had previously sent me of Bubba Watson imitating Patrick Reed during a round, “be the number!” It was a nice high draw, as good as I can hit an eight iron. Hit the front of the green and started moving to the front centre pin and we all watched it drop in the hole for my first ever ace. I just started taking lessons last year and broke 100 for the first time a couple weeks before this so we were all very stunned. Was a great feeling and I was quickly brought back to reality a few holes later when I took an eight on the next par three. Love this game.

Dean Evanger, Derrick Golf & Winter Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an amazing day and we got to celebrate that evening by watching the Oilers beat the Panthers in game six. The dream was still alive! I was playing with Derrick member, David Reynar and a guest, Shawn Hagen. It was on hole #8 from deck two, which was at 142 yards. I used a 9 iron.

Allan Woo, Richmond Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Playing with Rod Yeoh, Jake Silberberg and Ben Chang. Hole #9 at Richmond Country Club. Told Jake I need a birdie to finish the front nine at even par. 8 iron over the left front bunker, kick right and all I thought was my birdie chance. Then it rattled hitting the pin and went in.

Jim Grant, Kelowna Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I have attached a picture above of myself and Ian Dawson who had back to back hole-in-ones on Monday, June 10th at Kelowna Golf and Country Club on hole #17. I got my hole-in-one and then Ian Dawson in the group immediately behind our foursome proceeded to also get a hole-in-one on the same hole #17. Because my hole-in-one went in first, I of course got the closest to the pin on the hole for the day, much to Ian’s disappointment! The hole was playing 136 yards and we both hit 8 irons.

Braun Draper, Elmira Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

Braun Draper, age 14, a member at Elmira Golf Club, hit a hole-in-one on July 23rd on hole #3 in Elmira, Ontario. A par 3, 119 yard beauty. A pitching wedge did the trick. He was golfing with Mason Gruhl, a good friend and a member at the Elmira Golf Club as well.

Sandy Ward, Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the LPGA Amateur’s Trillium Challenge at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club on Monday, July 8th. It was a 27 hole tournament with three different formats of play. We were playing the alternate shot format on The Lakes course. I teed off on hole #7, the flag was 132 yards away and I used my 7 iron. The shot looked good and the ball was coming down right at the flag. Myself and the other members of my group heard the sound of the ball hitting the flag pole, but couldn’t see where the ball came to rest. We thought it was in but we were not certain. As we approached the pin we could see the ball was securely lodged in the hole. Amazing! What an experience!

Tracy Saulnier-Terrio, Clare Golf & Country Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

On Tuesday, July 23, I was playing at Clare Golf & Country Club in a ladies event and in the rain. I teed up on hole #10, 133 yards and a par 3. The hole is narrow off the tee, plays slightly up hill and the pin was on the back so I chose driver. The ball landed right of centre, rolled straight up towards the back reaching the bank side when it began to turn left and roll towards the pin and then it went out of sight. I thought to myself , okay it came to rest and hidden by the pin. As I approached the green, putter in hand and no ball in sight, I thought it must of went off the back but it wasn’t rolling that fast. I should be able to see it. I debated whether to look more but then headed to the pin and there it was, my ball laying in the bottom of that cup! It had banked, took a 90 degree turn to roll down about six feet dropping in the backside of the cup. The entire moment was like it was in slow motion. I love golf every day but this round will be memorable.

Leslie Berman, Batteaux Creek Golf Course , Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one on July 16th while playing at Batteaux Creek Golf Course in Nottawa, Ontario.

Lisa Kovacs, McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ever hole-in-one! It was hole #17 at McKenzie Meadows Golf Club in Calgary on Saturday, July 27 at about 11:00 am. It was a white flag, and I was playing the white tees. It was about 116 yards and I used my pitching wedge. It had rained earlier in the round but by the time we reached hole #17 it was calm and the sun was starting to come out. My husband and the two young men we were paired with all teed off before me with not so good drives. I thought to myself, “I need to show these guys how it’s done,” and I did! I teed off not wanting to hit it long because there’s sand at the back of the green, so I used my pitching wedge. It was a nice drive to the green, straight at the pin. It hit about six feet from the hole and rolled in. Everyone was so excited!

Ken Seim, Peterborough Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

After an approximate one hour delay due to thunderstorms, our next hole was #2, playing about 148 yards that day. Our foursome had been reduced to myself and Doug Gibson. There was still light rain and a steady wind. I hit a three quarter 5 iron to keep it under the wind. We watched one bounce, roll and then the ball disappeared. I stood in disbelief as Doug came over and gave me a high ten. First hole-in-one after 40 years of golf.

Hudson Lockwood, Settlers Ghost, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Hudson Lockwood, 12 years old and an Oakville Golf Club member. Playing in MJT Tournament. Hole #11 at Settlers Ghost. 118 yards.

Shirley Porter, Uplands Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my first ever hole-in-one on Sunday, June 16 on hole #17 at Uplands Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. I’m 75 years old and have been golfing for over 35 years!

John Rousseau, Cutten Fields, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I made a hole-in-one on July 25, 2024, at about 9:30 am on hole #9 at Cutten Fields in Guelph. The hole was playing 140 yards from the blue tee, with a right-to-left wind, and the pin was tucked on the left, behind the left-hand front bunker. I hit an 8 iron at the right edge of the bunker and the wind moved the ball the last couple of yards to the left.

We did not see the ball go in. One of the other guys hit a good shot too. When we got to the green, only one ball was visible, about six feet from the hole. The other fellow looked at it and found it was his ball. I looked at the fringes at the front and back of the green, on my line, but saw nothing. Then I checked the hole and found my ball.
This was my second hole-in-one, with witnesses, and third overall. I have been playing for about 55 years, so they have been few and far between. Helps keep things in perspective and makes one appreciate them!

Ryan Jeffries, Miskanaw Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

After 35 years of dedicated golfing, I finally achieved my first hole-in-one on hole #8 at the Miskanaw Golf Course in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Using a pitching wedge, I perfectly executed the 135 yard shot to a front pin placement while golfing with my favourite life and golf partner, Sara Spears. Here’s to hoping the next one doesn’t take as long!

Scott Farrell, Le Géant, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one at Le Géant in Mont-Tremblant on July 18, 2024. It was on hole #16, using a 7 iron for a 155 yard shot.

Mark Smith, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Got my first hole-in-one on Saturday, July 27 at beautiful Pine Ridge Golf Club. Hit a 9 iron from 140 yards to an uphill green with pin tucked behind left front bunker. Knew it was good but could not see it go in. A calm, sunny beautiful morning made better!

Dale Neubauer, Mount Brenton Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my fourth hole-in-one yesterday after a 20 year wait from my third one. It happened on hole #16 at Mount Brenton Golf Course in Chemainus, B.C. I used an eight iron which I also used for my first two aces. I nice high shot which tracked to the hole and three of us got to see it drop. The feeling was as good as the first time. I hope every golfer gets to experience that same feeling after getting one.

Tom Walsh, Pitcher Pond Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

Had my first hole-in-one on Saturday, June 27th at Pitcher Pond Golf Course. Hole #7, 125 yards from the whites.

Joyce Chau, Talon Country Hill Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I scored a hole-in-one on my home course at Talon Country Hill Golf Course. It was an inter club match play. On hole #4, the distance was 118 yards and wind was slightly against. I used my 8 iron and the ball travelled exactly the way I anticipated. It landed about eight feet short and roll straight to the hole until it disappeared. All four players witnessed and it was an ecstatic experience. This is my first hole-in-one.

Rick Legge, HeatherGlen Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt
It was my fourth full round of golf since having brain surgery on May 23 this spring. Actually the first few games afterwards went pretty well, as I wasn’t trying to kill the ball every swing. Today started pretty poorly as I couldn’t hit anything straight. Got a little better on the back but then I tripled hole #15, a kind of goofy 90 degree dogleg left and bogeyed hole #16 with a ball in the water.
I got to the 17th tee, checked the yardage at 132 and thought I better hit a solid 8 iron. I decided then to pull out my 7 iron (favourite club) and just swing easy. The ball flight was right at it and I yelled, “hit the pin,” even though I lost the ball after it hit the green. I just turned 71 in June so my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Well, I got to the green and checked all around the back as I thought it was probably too much club. And thought, “just go and look.” There it was Taylormade #1 looking right back at me. One of the best days of my life. My wife Lorie went nuts, yelling and cheering. There was some tears for sure.

Howie Kotzer, Richmond Hill Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I just got my first hole-in-one July 22nd. It was 154 yards during our mens league at Richmond Hill Golf Club. It was also the closest to the pin hole to boot. Using my 7 iron I knew it was a good shot. I just wanted to get on the green. One younger guy with better eyes said, “I think that’s a hole-in-one.” The other younger guy said, “it’s definitely a hole-in-one I was watching the ball and then it disappeared.” I was very excited but didn’t want to celebrate until I confirmed the ball was in the hole. No better feeling than looking in the cup and seeing your ball in the cup for a hole-in-one! A very happy golfer!

Greg Percy, McCall Lake Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 155 yards into the wind on the par 3 hole #8 from the blue tees, I used an old 6 iron ping eye (30 year old club or more), it wasn’t a drop and roll into the cup, it was a bomb hop right in front of the pin. It was my first one. My brother found a Titleist Pro V1 the previous hole and my first Pro V1 shot of the day, I teed it up and it was a gem.

Charlie MacPhee, Hampton Golf Club , Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

Special week for my best friend Charlie MacPhee. Charlie recorded his first ever hole-in-one on the tedious hole #10 at the beautiful Hampton Golf Club in Hampton, N.B. We zapped 176 yards playing approximately 20 yards downhill, into a howling wind. The ball was struck as good as one could strike it. As soon as the ball made contact with the face of his 8 iron, we knew it was good. However with the sun glaring in our face, we could not see it down. We walk down the hill, anticipating to find the ball in the middle of the green, maybe even a tad short. To our surprise, no ball in sight. Charlie proceeds to browse around the back of the green. It was at this moment when Taylor noticed his pitch mark on the green, and screamed, “check the hole!” There in was, incredible moment. Couldn’t have happened to a better person. Go Charlie go!

Taylor Roberts, on behalf of Charlie MacPhee

Janice Hull, Golden Eagle Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I just had a hole-in-one at Golden Eagle Golf Course, North Course, in Pitt Meadows, B.C. The ladies of Carnoustie Golf Course were playing team play against Golden Eagle, Tuesday August 6th, 2024! I landed the green on hole #14 and it continued to roll from left to centre and fell into the hole! Hard to believe until I actually got to the green and saw it in the hole! Very exciting and I had three witnesses! I am from Maple Ridge, B.C. I have been a member of the RCGA since July 27, 2001 and a member of Carnoustie Golf Club since 1996!

Paul Allen, Sand Point Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 6 iron, the ball stayed on line directly at the hole and it rolled right into the cup. It was a thing of beauty. I was in a foursome and we all enjoyed the shot! We pinged the distance at 148 yards before teeing off. Very exciting, as always, but I’m a bit spoiled as that was my fifth hole-in-one and the second time for this hole #11 in two seasons. Last year’s ace was struck left to right and was a lucky bounce from an embarrassing roll onto the green. This year’s hole-in-one was a more pure stroke, alas, luck again. Sincerely more proud of this one.

The other three hole-in-one’s came as follows, one in Florida and two at a course where I taught physical education as a much younger golfer in Petrolia, Ontario. I’ve been playing golf for a long time but at the age of 82, it’s still a thrill to see the ball disappear into the hole rather than into the woods or plunk into a pond. Keep swinging y’all.

Alan Gray, Black Diamond Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Dave Pyper, Alan Kerr and Liam O’Kane. The yardage was approximately 179, I used a 4 hybrid.

Johnna Cyr, Ranch Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband Mike and a couple we were paired with. It was hole #3 at the Ranch Golf & Country Club. Yardage was 90 and I used my 7 iron.

Martin Croteau, Wintergreen Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with a long time friend Chad VanBuuren (also Golf Canada member) and it was a 154 yard shot to a middle flag. I used a pitching wedge, great feeling!

Russ Glowinski, The Pulpit Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one on July 3 at The Pulpit Club, Paintbrush Course hole #7 , which was playing 163 yards into the wind, club used was a Ping 425 5 rescue and ball used Titleist Pro V1. Played with Brett Bandula, Dustin Clarke and Sam Reznick. This also was on Men’s night. This also was my seventh career hole-in-one.

Reg Finlayson, The Club at North Halton, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I had mine on July 4th men’s day at The Club at North Halton with a 9 iron from 115 yards. My partners were Don Curry, Barry Shepherd and Dennis Pippo. It was my 13th and I am 83. I have been playing the game for 75 years and they are always a surprise since it really is a lucky shot. This is the first time the ball landed directly in the hole rather than rolling in as they did before. Amazingly I have been fortunate to witness probably over 25 of them playing with people who holed out. It is always a pleasure seeing their reactions.

Lori Madill, The Club at North Halton, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 125 yards and I used my new 7 wood from left to right. Played with Shelley Phipps, Maureen Johnson and Ellen Carter.

Esther Chan, Mylora on Sidaway, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

Indeed it was my best day of golf. My first hole-in-one having been golfing since 2014. I wouldn’t consider myself a great golfer, but it was a lucky day for me. I was in a foursome with the ladies from Mylora ladies club. It was a beautiful day and I used a fairway wood for 133 yards on hole #5. I hit my ball onto the green and it started to roll slowing towards the hole, and that was it!

Gary Little, Glencairn Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was about 137 yards, a little breeze behind us and I hit a nine iron. I hit the ball to the right side of the pin, green had a little slope from right to left and the ball hit on the right side and rolled right into the hole. The one fellow I was playing with had never had a hole-in-one and that was the first one he had ever seen which made it special for me and for him.

Rick Thornton, Landings Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on the par 3, hole #15 which on this day measured 126 yards. I struck my Callaway HEX 3 ball with a choked up 3 wood that landed short of the cup and rolled up and what I thought was around the flag. But both of my golfing partners John Whitehill, a fellow member and his friend Mark started congratulating me. A 29 year dream finally answered.

Gord Van Clieaf, Hockley Valley Resort, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a Member, and currently have a Golf Canada handicap of 3.6. I am a longtime member of Silver Brooke Golf Club in Lisle, Ontario. It’s a lovely little championship length course, with the front nine carved through a forest and subdivision with most of the holes heavily wooded, and a back nine more links style in design. Head Greenskeeper Jeff has our greens as pristine as any you will play. I have the honour of holding the course record from both the Blue and Silver tees at the Course, shooting 65 from each.

Our head golf professional is Billy Longhurst, a wonderful young man and brand new father. Billy’s golf cleats have barely touched the ground since his baby boy Wellington entered the world two weeks ago and what a name this future golf pro will have, Wellington Longhurst. I can hear the BBC commentator reciting it now, during a final round of an Open Championship.

On August 10, 2024, Billy invited friend and co-Silver Brooke member Matt Martin and me to join him for a game at the Hockley Valley Resort in Mono, Ont. It’s a Tom McBroom designed beauty, with incredible elevation changes and magnificent views. There isn’t one sand bunker on the property, nor do any of the holes allow for a run-up opportunity to the green. I had played the course about 25 years ago, but had forgotten how spectacular it was in challenge and design. But then, most days I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.

Because of my advancing age (I’ll be turning 68 in a few weeks) and my having Stage 4 Metastasized Melanoma with Cancer tumours in the bones of both shoulders, I’ve lost about 40 – 50 yards off the tee and now need to play a different game than I was used to playing. But feeling truly blessed every single day that I can still play this wonderful game that I love, knowing that I can lose that at any moment. I’m sure that it was with this in mind that Billy, god bless him, had us playing the gold tees at Hockley Valley (5847 yards) rather than the tips (6358 yards).

My hole-in-one that day is actually a pretty good story. By the time we reached the 12th tee, Billy was having a decent day, launching rockets off the tees and throwing darts into several of the greens. Matt is a good player, but his driver wasn’t cooperating too much for him. The 12th from the gold tees measures 196 yards, but with a slope reading of about 178 yards because of it being significantly downhill. It’s a lovely hole, and one of the signature holes at the course. August 10th was a very windy day in the area. It was a two club wind most of the day, gusting to a three club wind on occasion. On the 12th, it was a true headwind. We had to wait on the tee about seven or eight minutes for the group in front to clear the green, and while we were waiting I asked my pro a rules question that I had been asked earlier in the week by another member that I wasn’t sure of the answer to. I’m usually pretty knowledgeable about the Rules of Golf, but had never been asked this one before. The question was, does a player invoke a penalty if they inadvertently or intentionally walk through or brush their club onto or into a sand trap, even though their ball is not resting in a sand trap? Would it be considered testing the sand, which the player might put to use later in their round if they found themself in a sand trap and now had some knowledge of sand conditions that day at the course?

It was while we were discussing this question that I all of a sudden realized that the hybrid 3 I had in my hand wouldn’t be sufficient to reach the green due to the severity of the headwind. Just as the group in front cleared the green, I said to the boys, “this isn’t enough club,” and went back to my bag for my 3 wood. I was fortunate enough to hit several quality shots that day, but the 3 wood from the 12th tee was pure. It covered the flag the entire way, and while it was in the air I thought to myself, “good job Gordie.” Which is much better than the, “what a bum” thought I get more and more often these days.

Even with wearing glasses, my failing eyesight didn’t allow me to see the ball land, but Matt immediately said “I think that’s in, I’m pretty sure that went in.” Billy said, “I think so too.” I was less committal, saying that I had hit it good and it was probably close. After Matt and Billy hit, with Billy putting it pin high about ten feet away, we raced our carts to the green. I hate cart golf and walk always at Silver Brooke because it’s good for my health even though it usually exhausts me, but Hockley Valley is not walkable. When we reached the green, we could see only one ball that we knew was Billy’s. I can truthfully say that I’ve never seen Billy move as fast as he did when he left his cart and literally ran down the hill until he got to the green, walked over to the flag, looked inside, and raised his arms and shouted in celebration. I was sincerely thankful for the joy that Matt and Billy displayed, I’ll remember it all of my life. Without me asking, Billy, the consummate professional, took my picture and drove back to the tee to take a photo of the hole and the hole signage. He really is something, and the best pro Silver Brooke could ever wish for. For me, I was certainly very happy about the hole-in-one. It was my third, but the last one was about 35 years ago. Truthfully, I was more focused on the fact that the eagle had brought me back to even par for the round, and I’m happy to say that I finished the round one under. And beat my pro, which is a very rare feat.

I detest slow play, and we always play ready golf at Siver Brooke. But on this one occasion only, I’m so glad for the wait we had on the 12th tee. If not for the wait, and me having an epiphany about proper club selection, I’d have hit my hybrid 3, been 20 yards short of the green, and you’d never have heard from me.

Sheila May, The Glencoe Golf & Country Club, Hole #3

It was a very exciting third hole-in-one! I used an 8 iron as it was over two sand traps and the distance was 80 yards. It hit the flagstick on the fly and dropped straight in. I was playing with Barb and Robin Landes, friends for many years. I am a high handicapper and my mother who turned 93 on this day, made it extra special! When I phoned her for her birthday wishes, she replied, “I hope you get a hole-in-one today.” How crazy that it came true. I just finished volunteering at the CPKC Tournament and thoroughly enjoyed selling the 50/50 tickets to support the First Tee program! I would have taken it up much earlier in life, had it been available for me. I have only had the $10 city of Calgary lessons in my early 20’s.

First round of the Mill Run Club Championships. I was playing with Matt Whitehead and Tyson Bruce. We were on hole #14 of the round, on Grist #5. The hole was playing 188 yards into the wind. The club that I used was a 6 iron. I hit baby cut and the pin was tucked front right so I didn’t see it go in. When I walked up to the green I thought I went long but sure enough it was right in the hole!

Last Friday was the last day of my school placement at a physiotherapy clinic in Elmira, as I am currently a physical therapy student. I was golfing with my two clinical instructors and another student from the clinic after work as a celebration of the end of the placement term. It was on #6 at the Elmira golf club, a par 3 where my finder was reading 176 yards. I hit my 6 iron and the ball came down on the approach cut dead centre in front of the green and rolled on. The ball took a left at the hole and looked like it had gone just long and eclipsed behind the pin. We didn’t know it had gone in until we got up to the green and the ball was nowhere to be found! I have attached the picture of myself with the ball on the green below.

155 yards into the wind with a 9 iron and hit a little draw. Playing with my dad. First hole-in-one.

Sean Kelly, Innisfail Golf Club, Hole #9

I had about 178 yards into the wind. I chose to hit a 6 iron. I was playing with a co-worker which I asked him to go out and play a practice round for the Canadian Junior. I hit the ball with my natural cut that I’ve been working on at and it was tracking the entire way. We chuckled as we thought that it had a chance of going in. When we got up to the hole I didn’t see any white balls on the green which had my heart racing. As I peeked down into the hole I saw my ball at the bottom!

Andrew Waltho, Greystone Golf Club, Hole #11

I was playing with my partner Mariska Peries, who birdied the hole for a combined three. It was the red pin tucked behind the front left bunker playing 127 yards. I used my pitching wedge that one hopped into the cup. We both saw it go in and were in shock and disbelief. Making it very impressive that she was able to step up afterwards and knock one to about four feet. It was the first ace I’ve ever made playing golf for over 25 years. I had never even witnessed one actually happen either. Very exciting.

Jerry Beniuk, Royal Westmorland, Hole #3

We were enjoying a wonderful golf vacation at Royal Westmorland, Barbados where we golfed many times onsite plus a round at Sandy Lane and Apes Hill. Simply wonderful golf courses to experience. May 20th on hole #3, I was fortunate to have a hole-in-one. It was a spectacular highlight to add to my trip and something I’ve not achieved in the 40+ years of golfing. I can’t wait until I have another great shot that happens when I’m golfing with my friends. It was 156 yards from the white tees. I used a 6 iron and was golfing with Chris Wynter, Mike Chase and Tef Kalaparambath.

Dana Segin, Flamborough Hills Golf Club, Hole #5

I got it on Woods hole #5 (174 yards). I played with Ted Maniacco and Dwayne Frewin, all of us members at Flamborough Hills.

Lynn McAdam, Lake Joseph Golf Club, Hole #4

It was a very exciting day for us! I was at a Clublink course called The Lake Joseph Club in Muskoka where we are members. It was a cloudy and very buggy day so I think that with swatting away the black flies I didn’t overthink my swing and the moons aligned for a hole-in-one. It was hole #4, 115 yard par 3 and I used my recovery club. At first we watched the ball land and roll, but the clink of it hitting the pin was our first sign that it went in! I was with my husband, Peter McAdam, who also got his first hole in one in Florida earlier this year. We were also playing with our good friends Neil and Lisa Skelding. They both belong to the hole-in-one club as well. I was the last to join!

Ben Fowke, Timberwood Golf Club, Hole #13

It was 159 yards with a 9 iron.

Thomas Beneteau, Port Hope Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

I was playing with my two brothers Peter and Stephen Beneteau. It was 133 yard pitching wedge and it one hopped in.

Larry Freedman, Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

White flag, centre pin, 135 yards and used an 8 iron. Witnessed by Nick Pugliese and Scott Parkinson. Upon arriving at the pin and confirming my ball, a Titelist Pro V1 with three blue dots was in the hole! Woo hoo!

Rocco Zito, Hylands Golf Club, Hole #12

To elaborate further on my first hole-in-one ever, I must mention how the decision was made to go out and play on Saturday. Originally, my foursome had an early morning tee time, 7:27 am, to ensure we could complete the round before the Euro 2024 match between Italy and Switzerland. Yes, we are Italian and huge soccer fans. Well, the rain was too much and our early morning round was cancelled. This left us to watch the noon round of 16 match at a local sports bar. Due to the very poor play from Italy, we asked for our bill and left in disgust. A text was sent out to the foursome asking if we should go out to play golf. Observing the local weather radar on my mobile phone, close to 3:00 pm gave us the best opportunity to get a round in with very little to no rain.

Before going further the names of our foursome are Aladino Grieco, Carm Romano, Hector Campagna and myself. We have known one another for several years and play together at least two to three times a week including mens night.

Now at the Hylands, where it looks like a ghost town due to the weather, we checked in, got on our power carts and began to play. We chose to play the white/green tees on the North Course which runs about 6000 yards. Played a decent front nine, making the turn, I bogey hole #10 and hole #11. We reach hole #12, Aladino scopes it for yardage, stating it is 140 yards from the green tee box to the white flag between the bunkers on the green. Grabbed my 6 hybrid and head to tee box, leaving the tee higher than usual, on the left side of the green there are two bunkers with a small gap in between, I setup take a couple of practice swings and then hit my shot. The ball is travelling from left to right in between the bunkers and hits the green, bounces forward and then I lost sight of the ball. I look at the boys and say I think it went in the hole. Everyone being excited we get in our carts and head to the green. This is where Aladino begins filming the drive to the green. Once there I am walking in front of the group to the pin, slow down look in and wow! We all jumped up for joy! Carm actually bear hugged me and picked me up over his head. I needed to mention it because if Italy played better I would have not gone to play. Actually I did leave out while on the tenth tee box the boys and I were talking about an amateur playing in the senior U.S. Open having two aces back-to-back which has never been done, I think.

Kent McVeigh, Southampton Golf & Country Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an exciting moment, waiting 50 years to get the monkey off my back. I was golfing with fellow member Ron Wilson. It was accomplished on hole #18, 185 yards with a driver.

Kathy Banfield, Squamish Valley Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Friday, June 21st, hole #11, 122 yards and club was a 6 iron. Playing with my husband Jay and another member Wilder. I also had a hole-in-one on Sunday, May 12th at Kings Links by the Sea in Delta. Hole #15, 80 yards, pitching wedge. Playing with my husband Jay, his brother Darin and my nephew Damon. I have played golf for 50 years and have not had a hole-in-one, then I have one on May 12th and another on June 21st. Hopefully things really do come in three’s.

Stan Nickle, Vernon Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #14, par 3, lasered out to 174 yards. Used my trusty 7 iron. Hit front left of the green and rolled across to the pin. Witnessed by Steve and Velda Desrocher and Gillian Gibson. My first hole-in-one and I expect to chase my second for the rest of my golfing life.

Warren Jack, Bootleg Gap Golf, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on the trip to Cranbrook from Calgary that was arranged by a friends pro from Mayfair Golf Club in Vancouver. It was around 3:15 pm, the hole is on the side of a mountain so you really have to hit to the far right side to keep it on the green. The pin was behind a bunker that we scoped at 150 yards, a bit down hill, a little wind in our face. I hit a 7 iron as I didn’t want to be short and end up in the bunker. I was playing with a group of friends that I golf with in Calgary. The staff at Bootleg was awesome, gave me the flag and I had the guys all sign it with me. First one ever.

Craig Carefoot, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

We were on hole #16 at Gorge Vale and I believe the yardage was about 155. I’m not saying what club I used as I don’t hit it very far! My playing partner Brandon Ellis hit it within a foot just before me, so I followed his lead and hit the back upper part of the green and let it roll down into the hole. It was a little difficult to tell from the tee box as we weren’t sure if the flag was in the way or there was something else that was preventing us from seeing. The boys let me go to the green first and sure enough I discovered it in the hole! I think they were more excited than I was.

Eric Gu, Thornhill Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife, Carrie Song, who is a beginner. I was there to help her get familiar with the course in preparation for inviting her friends to play next week.

At the second hole, approximately 100 yards, I used my Taylormade Stealth iron A wedge (50 degrees) to hit the ball. It landed on the fringe to the left of the green, on higher ground and then rolled all the way across to drop into the hole on the far right of the green.

Mason Landry, Firerock Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was using a pitching wedge from 134 yards.

Mike Corcoran, St. Catherines, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Third hole-in-one on hole #12 since joining the club in 2011.

Susan Hatfield, Twin Lakes Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a short par 3, 105 yards and I used an 8 iron. I was golfing with two friends Connie Felton and Anne Conquergood. I have to admit it was a fun thing to have happen on Canada Day!

Sheelagh Byrne, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m so excited about my first hole-on-one! I’ve been playing for almost 15 years and I’m 71 years young! I used a Taylor Made Sim 6 iron and a Taylormade ball as well.

It was on the 13th hole at Watson’s Glen in Ajax, Ontario. It is a short par 3, with the pin at the front. My GPS showed 94 yards to the front. I decided with the wind that I would use my 6 iron. Generally too much club for the distance but I thought with the strong wind why not try it.

It was tracking beautifully but there were reeds in front and I couldn’t see the end of the shot. My two friends and LPGA Amateur members (Durham Region Chapter) Jennifer and Trish could see it. I asked if I was okay. Jennifer was trying to find her words and kept saying, “I, um, I, um..” So I said, “oh no, did it go off the green?” Jennifer finally said, “I think it went in the hole!”

We got in our carts and zoomed up to the green. I could see a ball to the left and said, “oh that’s probably mine.” She said, “no, for sure that’s mine.” Jennifer ran up to the cup and said “oh my, it’s really there!” I was right behind her and looked in the cup with absolute amazement!

What followed was pure joy, lots of screaming and dancing! What a fabulous feeling! One I will not soon forget!

Mel (R) Woodman, Blomidon, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It is actually the second and I was lucky enough to get one. It happened on hole #3 at Blomidon Golf Club in our Beautiful City of Corner Brook, N.L. I was playing with my son-in-law James Curran, my great friend Fred Welsh and another great friend Dave Parsons. Fred, incredibly also had a hole-in-one on this same hole. I used my Taylormade M6 Driver as the course was very wet and the hole was 211 yards long. I was hitting a Titleist Pro V1x that hit just short and bounced on and tracked straight to the hole.

David Bourada, Marshes Golf Club (The), Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was Marshes hole #8, I was with my dad, Steve Bourada and two friends, Scott and Lewis Miller. 133 yards, hit a knock down pitching wedge, spun back four feet into the cup. This was my second hole-in-one in the past three years which was amazing. I’d just gone through major abdominal surgery and the hole-in-one came on exactly eight weeks post-op and my second round of the year.

Ron MacLaren, Perth Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I play golf three times a week. On Tuesdays, I play with a bunch of other seniors, many of whom I’ve known since high school. On June 25th, I was in a foursome with some of these fellows when I had my hole-in-one. It was the par 3, hole #15 at the Perth Golf Course playing 130 yards in length. I was using a 6 iron. I’m now 70 years old and this was my third lifetime hole-in-one.

Garry McAninch, St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

After years of hoping for one and had recently given up hope, I finally got my first hole-in-one on June 20, 2024! I was playing with my usual weekday reprobates Jim Keast, Michael Harding and Al Girotti. I played a 6 iron on hole #14 playing 167 yards to a back pin. The ball rolled up towards the flag and appeared to have rolled directly past the hole and disappeared off the back of the green. Apparently not! It was a great experience!

Kim Blake, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

As a long time member at Whitevale Golf Club I recorded my second hole-in-one on hole #14 on June 26, 2024. Playing with my buddies Bob Nebel, Dennis Matton and Steve Rodriguez, the hole measures 161 yards from the blue tees. I knew when I struck the shot, that it was a well hit 6 iron which landed on the front of the green, bounced a few times then disappeared! One of the benefits of membership is that we have hole-in-one insurance which covers $400 at the bar, which no doubt gets used up at Whitevale on a busy Wednesday afternoon! Another benefit is a preferential parking spot until the next hole-in-one.

Aidan Bent, Berwick Heights Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

This was on hole #16. I hit a 8 iron and it was 142 yards away.

Eric Dibben, Hinton Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing at Hinton Golf Club while camping with my brother, dad and cousin. It was a 120 yard hole and I used my 52 degree approach wedge. It was my first time hitting the club that day as well. This is a photo from the tee box as I didn’t wait for anyone else to hit out of excitement.

Cheryl Laird, Kananaskis Country Golf Course, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Abby Laird, Marilyn Scott and Joan White. We were on a girls golf get away for a couple days. I played a soft 9 iron on hole #6 as the hole was 99 yards from the tees we were playing.

Shirley Dewar, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Joan McLeod and Sasha Basic, both members at Pheasant Glen. The pin was at the back of the green at approximately 145 yards and because I am 84 years old I had to use my driver. I had a hole-in-one on the same hole in 2013, I was a little younger then and only used a 9 wood!

Donna Luiten, Riverside Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with my husband, Roly and another couple from Riverside playing a couples match. It was hole #17, 108 yards and I used an 8 hybrid. The best part was we had been down in the match since the first hole, my hole-in-one made it the first hole we were up one. Managed to sink a putt on hole #18 to halve the hole and win the match. Fun day!

John McCrea, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with Tom Enright, Boyd Penny and Brian Foss. The yardage was 137 and I used my Ping G25 hybrid 30 degree.

Candi Munroe, Glen Arbour Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Wanda Murphy, Carolyn James and Marilyn Pound. Hole #2 that day was 88 yards and I got the hole-in-one with my 7 iron.

Dwayne Farlin, The Falls Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The Falls Golf Course in Chilliwack, B.C. on hole #4. Card says 186 yards to the centre, but the hole was straight downhill and was playing about 147 yards to the pin at the front of the green. Large par 3 green. Pitching wedge about four feet past the cup and had a little spin to come back into the hole. Playing with Paul Laurillard, Brad Johnston and Shawn McLeod.

Rose Davidson, Oakfield Golf and Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on hole #15 at Oakfield Golf and Country Club. My playing partners were Gordon and Joanne Weldin. The hole is 113 yards from the red tees and I used a 9 iron. Above is a picture Joanne took of me holding the lucky ball. It was my fourth hole-in-one. I’ve had three at Oakfield hole #5, #13 and #15. I also had one at the Clare Golf and Country Club hole #10.

Bill Stewart, Cedar Brae Golf Clube, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

Playing with fellow members Mike Lacroix who took the photo, new member Alan Lennox and men’s captain Scott MacKenzie, I finally got in the hole-in-one club. I have witnessed many hole-in-one’s over the years including a memorable one playing with the legendary Moe Norman in a pro-am at The Bay of Quinte Golf Club in Belleville. I’ve been a member at Cedar Brae Golf Club in Toronto for over 35 years and thought my chances were fading away. It was at the second hole playing 163 yards using my 4 rescue club on Wednesday in our men’s day weekly competition. We never saw the ball go into the hole which is the reason I had my putter when Mike took the photo. It actually was one of my better rounds scoring 82, of course the hole-in-one helped!

Steven Scott, Canmore Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a fantastic experience.

Doug Ibbotson, Port Dover Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 118. I used Taylormade MG3 50 degree wedge with TP5 ball. My playing partners were Carl Barath, Dave Smith and Reg Schweyer.

Ed Murphy, Sundre Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We played the blue tees at Sundre so #17 was 105 yards. I used a 54-degree wedge. My friends Lee Raine and Tracy Beamer were playing with me.

Bob Kushnir, Weston Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Chris Fraracci and Harry Wylie.

The shot was about 146 yards, hole was near the back of the green and tee was placed a bit back to slightly lengthen the hole. It was Chris who said he saw the ball go in the hole, I thought, “no, can’t be,” it probably rolled past into the rough just beyond. Chris insisted I was wrong. I first checked the bunker behind the hole, then the strip of rough between the green and the bunker, then finally slowly walked to the flag to find the ball in the hole. Chris was right.

It was my smoothest 7 iron of the day – nice high ball flight with a slight draw, a single bounce, then trickle into the cup. I won’t forget this for a long time.

Benson Lilly, Picton Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was certainly exciting to get my first hole-in-one at the age of 76. My playing partners were Picton Golf Club members, Bob Fujiki, Jean Theoret and Brian Lackey. The hole was #14 a par 3, playing 163 yards into the wind. I used a Taylor Made R-7 rescue #4 and crushed the ball high into the wind. It appeared to be headed for the flag but I thought that I had hit it long so I approached with a wedge and putter. There was no ball just off the back of the green so I sheepishly walked back to the hole and looked in. Voila! There was my ball.

Fred Edwards, Cardinal Lakes Gold Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

My husband, Fred Edwards, made a hole-in-one at Cardinal Lakes Gold Club in Welland, Ontario. It was on hole #6 with an 8 iron Witnessed by myself, Margaret Edwards, and our friends Gail Halsall and Carol Bryan. We are all members at Cardinal Lakes and members of Golf Canada.

– Margaret Edwards, on behalf of Fred Edwards

Craig Machel, Summit Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

A very exciting day it was on Friday June 28, 2024. I used a 7 iron from 160 yards out, choked down 7 iron to be precise. My foursome included Kathryn Hunter, Brian and Gerry Matheson.

Gregg Hook, McCleery Public Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

When I made the hole-in-one I was playing with Bruce Kennedy, Dave Marr and Roger Barnes. The yardage was 161 and I used a 4 hybrid for the shot.

Darren King, Whispering Winds of Warren, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son David, his girlfriend Anna and my wife Lesley were along for the walk. It was hole #2 a 132 yard par 3. I used an 8 iron, one hop and it rolled in. I couldn’t really see it, but my wife and son said for sure it rolled in. I was in disbelief, until I walked up and sure enough, in the cup!

Gerard Chiasson, Wyndance Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Wyndance Golf Club, hole #12 and 160 yards. Club used was a 9 iron. Played with Stephen Niles, Gilbert Kee and Chris Neilson.

Kathy Mercier, Fairview Mountain Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

This event was so much pure luck. It was our club Ladies Day. I was playing with Karen Niven, Terri McDonald and Barb Ross. We were on hole #10, It was a white flag and I can’t remember the yardage. I used a 7 wood as it is all carry and I wanted to make sure I got on the green. The light was such that we saw the ball land, but then lost it. I thought it had gone off the back of the green so took my lob wedge with my putter to go look for my ball. Terri said it didn’t have enough energy to go off the back of the green and that I should look in the hole. “Right,” I said, “wouldn’t you laugh!” Then I looked in the hole on my way by and there was my ball! Boy, did we all laugh! It was very exciting as I am not a very good golfer (verified by my handicap), proving the golf gods do have a sense of humor!

Susan White, Crown Isle Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m Susan White and on a golf trip to Vancouver Island with good friends I got my second hole-in-one. It was on hole #16 at Crown Isle. I just hit a nice soft 9 iron in and watched it role in.

Pat Andruschuk, Copper Point Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband, sister and her husband at Copper Point Ridge on June 24, 2024. Hole #15 with 123 yards up hill. I do not play this course often but enough I knew the hole plays long so I used my #5 hybrid. I made a good drive which landed and kept rolling right into the hole. The best part of the hole-in-one was having my family there to witness it.

Hilary Cameron, Midland Golf & Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a group of my neighbours which included Bonnie Monk, Deb Austin and Nadine Latham. When I used my rangefinder before the shot I believe it had said it was 102 yards and I chose to use my 8 iron because it was into a strong headwind!

Julie Neault, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with my friend and industry colleague. It was an 85 yard par 3 and I used my pitching wedge.

Travis Byspalko, Priest Lake Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my second career hole-in-one and certainly my favourite. 11 of my closest friends host an annual three day golf tournament every year. My foursome was in the middle group. The yardage was 138, I hit a pitching wedge that landed about ten feet long and spun back in the hole!

Charlie Keeling, Royal Mayfair Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #8 at the Royal Mayfair Golf club. My friend Kobee and I were playing on the first day of summer. I hit an 8 iron from 174 yards over a bunker and it fell into the hole. The whole time I had no idea whether or not the ball was in the hole as the bunker blocked our sight of view. But as we ran up to the hole we only saw one ball on the green with mine being right in the cup.

Funny enough, nine days later on Friday July 5th, it was hole #4 at Leduc Golf Club on a hole that played 171 yards. I was playing with my brother and two other friends when I hit my 7 iron right on target and we saw the ball disappear right in line of the pin. At first we thought it was the shade covering our view but as we got closer and closer we realized it went in! So for the second time in two weeks I aced it!

Johanna Price, Muirfield Lakes Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It happened on May 18, 2024 at approximately 1:05 pm on hole #3 at Muirfield Lakes Golf Club. The weather that day was cloudy and cool. I was golfing with my girlfriends Kathy, Lori and Carla. We were playing from the red tee boxes that day. The pin was 98 yards away. I used my 9 iron Ping Rapture. The ball I used was a yellow Taylormade Distance.

Shelagh Pepper, Vespra Hills Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with two friends, Anne and Beth. The normal chatting was occurring, we play ready golf and we don’t always stay in a “correct” order, but we are definitely encouraging to each other. It is a par 3. I hit the ball with the same club I always do, a 7 iron, and none of us saw it land. It usually lands on the green if it is a reasonable shot. The other two hit and we walked up. I didn’t see my ball on the green, not in the trap to the right but I found it just beyond the green, guess it was a long hit that day. I chipped my ball on, walked up and was marking it. Just as I was marking it, I noticed it wasn’t my ball and at the same time my playing partner Beth was removing the pin and said there was a ball in the hole! The three of us laughed and enjoyed some drinks after, all in all a great day!

Cooper Cecile, Pointe West Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two friends on a Friday afternoon after work! The yardage to the flag was 125 yards into the wind! I hit a flighted 9 iron that landed five paces long of the hole and spun back into it! It was so cool seeing it disappear! But still did not think it happened until we got up to the green!
