Johnny Travale is one of four rookies to the 2018 Development Squad. The Stoney Creek, Ont., product had a season highlighted by top-10 performances at both the Ontario Junior and Amateur championships. He rounded out his 2017 season with a T25 finish at the Canadian Junior and a T33 at the Canadian Men’s Amateur. Travale was a member of Team Ontario in 2017 and won the 2016 Ontario Juvenile Boys championship.

Q: What are some of your nicknames?

JT is what everyone calls me.

Q: How did you get into golf? Explain.

My dad got me a set of clubs at age 4, I got into it pretty quick, and I played my first golf tournament at age 6 and won.  I have loved it since.

Q: How do you mark your golf ball?

I put a line on the ball to line up putts, and a dot on each side of the ball beside the number.

Q: Do you have any siblings? If so, how old?

Two sisters, one in grade 10 and the other in grade 6 (age 15 and 11).

Q: What was the last book you read?

The Hunger Games

Q: Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Ryan Reynolds

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you? Any hidden talents?

Many people used to say I look much older than 17!  Also I used to play the highest level of junior rep hockey up until grade 8.

Sprints

Everyone knows everyone even though it’s a big city.
