Alyssa DiMarcantonio of Maple, Ont., captured the Toronto Star Women’s Amateur to kick off her 2017 season before going on to win the Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s Spring Invitational. Her breakout campaign also saw the young 14-year-old finish fourth at the Ontario Women’s Amateur and T19 at the Canadian Women’s Amateur. DiMarcantonio was part of the Canadian contingent that represented Canada at the 2017 World Junior Girls Championship at The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa. She makes her debut on the Development Squad as the youngest team member after training with Team Ontario.

Q: What are some of your nicknames?

Alyss

Q: How did you get into golf? Explain.

My dad got me started when I was about 5 years old.  He brought me to the driving range and I had so much fun.

Q: How do you mark your golf ball?

I mark it with 3 dots (red, black, red) under the number.

Q: Do you have any siblings? If so, how old?

No siblings

Q: What was the last book you read?

The Giver by Lois Lowry

 

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you? Any hidden talents?

I put ketchup on everything.

Q: What exercise do you dread the most?

Burpees

Q: What was the last picture that you took on your phone?

A picture at my semi formal.

Q: What is the best thing about your hometown?

My hometown has the most awesome roller coasters.

Q: Do you have any superstitions?

Yes, I always use the same ball marker during a tournament.

Q: What is the most surprising thing in your golf bag?

Nothing out of the ordinary in my bag.
